SICARIO (2015) FULL LENGTH MOVIE REACTION – WATCH ALONG

Comments

Michael Rutter

You guys have seen a few Tom Cruise films so I would like you recommend Collateral if you haven’t seen it. It stars Jamie Fox as a cabbie who picks up Tom Cruise only to later find out he’s a hitman. It is a really good thriller.

PDC717

So you just spoiled the plot?

PDC717

Yay! I’m sure you guys loved this one. Looking forward to watching this later.

Michael Rutter

The back of the dvd said that he’s a contracted killer.

Kahiko

Yes finally can't wait to watch this when I get a chance

Lailah Johnson

Yes, i was the only one who guess this right! Would it be crazy if I said this was a comfort movie of mine for a long time???

M@xR3acts

So I'm gonna assume Benicio is the sicario. I also love all the Marvel actors: Benicio, Jon, Josh, Daniel, and Maximiliano.

Victor Ramos

Ohhh my! We’re beyond paws training dragons and under hills….;)

kachow6969

just here to say you should add memento to your watch list! even if you don’t end up reacting to it (though i hope you do haha) i think you’d both love it.

Victor Ramos

Im guessing Apocalypto is coming soon?!

Alina

Definitely one of my favorites, it was my introduction to both Denis Villeneuve and Taylor Sheridan! I really loved the cinematography and sound design in this. Mixed with solid performances and well crafted tension it really makes for a great watch. And the sequel is also worth checking out! For more police movies I’d really like to recommend End of Watch (2012) with Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña, which was shot documentary style.

Armando Castillo

Dang it was hoping yall were gonna surprise us with the batman lol for batman day. But this movie is great too!

Lee N.

I'm glad to see that y'all got to check this film out. I really enjoyed listening to the discussion afterwards. The sequel, Day of the Soldado, is definitely worth a viewing.

Adrian Wayne

Damn, A lady, a gun and a f... cactus! Who would think that was Sicario?!

Dan

I love this movie, and Roger Deakins (the cinematographer) is a genius. That shot of them disappearing into the horizon at dusk is so brilliant that it should be taught in film school. It still makes me mad that the cinematographer behind "The Long Night" episode of Game of Thrones (Fabian Wagner) acted all indignant when the audience complained that nothing was comprehensible on screen. He said (1) it was meant to portray claustrophobia, (2) we needed better TVs or internet, and (3) any other lighting condition would have been "wrong". Don't gaslight me, bish, I've seen Sicario! THAT's how you portray dread and stealth through blackness while remaining beautiful and interesting. Also, you guys really need to check out GATTACA. You'd really be able to sink your mental teeth into the meat of the conversation about woulds and shoulds against what will probably be.

I hadn't actually seen this one, it was always a bit of blot on my record, so thank you for this opportunity. I think we can safely assume Denis Villeneuve is one of the great directors of modern times. In terms of creating a mood, a feel for something, I find him more or less unrivaled right now (at least in western cinema). This movie is no exception. We feel constantly unnerved and uncomfortable, but at the same time we believe in Emily Blunts character and her righteousness. Villeneuve paints with an exact brush, as usual, and every second is either suspenseful or exhausting. Most of the film we know as much as our main character and the feel of not knowing is annoying but at the same time completely engulfing. The cinematography is amazing. Gorgeous shots left and right, another staple of a Villeneuve-film. The choices of angles and colours are amazing and precise. Just beautiful. Like you, I find that Benicio del Toro steals the show for me. Terrifying, but still somehow with a heart. Cold as ice but somehow burning with pain. Every scene he is in he completely dominating, even in the presence of Brolin, who is really nailing the role of despicable a-hole. Blunt is excellent as well, especially in the moments she is forced to be vunerable. Like the audience she is the one that brings all the conflicting emotions into the mix and her performance is splendid. A special shoutout to Maximiliano Hernández who in only a handful of scenes manages to make a crooked cop very human. Overall this is splendid. Yes, it's conflicting as all hell, but it is suppose to be. We can symphatize with Alejandro's actions but find them completely despicable. We can understand the states reasoning to controling the problem without agreeing with their methods. This is a film about nuance, in many ways like Prisoners, and it forces you to think. Which is more than enough for me to put this in the pile of Villeneuve's other films which, plainly put, are some of the best created in the recent years. Thank you for this reaction, I enjoyed it very much!

One of my all time favourites! The tension held throughout the first 30-35 minutes with the raid and the convoy scenes is just top-tier level filmmaking

Ashton Rice

Almost all trailers and DVD synopsis's give massive spoilers imo

Simon

My favourite film from 2015, and one of my all time favourite scores. Also just to be that guy, Denis’ last name is pronounced ‘vill-noov’ 😉 Cheers guys!

Jordan Williams

Ari I know what you mean lol. I lived in Kingston Jamaica when I was a kid, and sometimes when the shootouts got bad we'd have police curfew. One time a friend and I were outside playing and didn't get the memo. We ran around a corner and came face to face with a WALL of SWAT 😂 I swore I was done for!! They just told us to get tf off the streets and get home ASAP.

breaks my heart that this doesn't sync properly with the youtube-version, just slightly off. What "copy" are you using?

Robert Robillard 🇨🇦

Robert 👋 Usually Ari & Denise's Reaction is Taken from AMAZON Prime, or perhaps from another Streaming Platform • Netflix etc... You should 'TRY' to get a Digital Copy from the Same Source in Order to Sync properly • Keep in Mind, that 'IF' You are using a Physical DVD/BluRay of the Movie 🎬 that Encoding from Different Regions ie : PAL or NTSC may also have Syncing issues. The Sync can be Off by only a Second or Two, But that's enough to cause, slight Frustration, But it can Happen, Unfortunately. • TRY to Find another Source to Sync & Hopefully You will get to Enjoy this Reaction. Regards, 🌻

Robert Alm

Thanks for the tips! Usually it works fins with youtube versions. But I wouldn't mind getting it from somewhere else if I know which one on beforehand. Already have three streaming services but either it's synch issue or it isn't available.

Robert Robillard 🇨🇦

Yeah ... That's the Hard part, as some Movies 🎬 are not available on Specific Streamjng Platforms & like You said., others Have them, BUT they have Syncing issues • Frustrating to say the Least • I've Missed out on Several Reactions, Due to this Headache, Unfortunately not much can Be Done ✔️ MY., Personal Experience • IF You can get a Digital Copy, from AMAZON PRIME, You shouldn't have ANY Further Syncing issues • The Encoding is Done Correctly for thier Streams., I, Haven't had ANY Syncing issues when I get the said Movies in Digital Format Streamed from AMAZON PRIME... GOOD LUCK ‼️ Regards, 🌻

Robert Alm

Thanks again! Amzon Prime doesn't sync properly either unfortunately.

Robert Robillard 🇨🇦

your Welcome ... SORRY., I, couldn't Help You to Resolve this & that this is Happening for You • Hopefully the Next Reaction will work out, Better for You.. Regards, 🌻

I love this movie. Happy you guys did this! I'm really hoping you guys watch "Wind River" sometime soon!

Ashton Kester

You guys should watch End of Watch. I think you’d appreciate the style of filming. Plus the chemistry between the main characters is amazing.

streaky

This is Taylor Sheridan power lifting for the first movie he ever wrote. Sicario is part of a soft but intentional thematic trilogy that isn't well known they go together under the heading of "frontier justice" - it goes Sicario, Hell or High Water and then Wind River; and every one of them is _exceptional_ in their own way. Back on this movie - I really love the ending where Kate points her weapon at Alejandro, there are layers to that part and nobody ever picks up on it - if she kills him, she's down at his level, I think that's the obvious layer, but also he turns to her face on to give her a better shot and almost as if to say almost "please do, put me out of my misery".
