THE SHINING (1980) FULL LENGTH MOVIE REACTION – WATCH ALONG

Comments

Purple Cowboy

An absolute classic!! But I do have a question, why do you watch so many movies you’ve already seen, why not watch movies that would be a “first time watch”? Stay spooked 👻🎃

Dean.Riding

Hey love watching your reaction guys, I love this film. It was one of the first movies I ever watched. You should watch the 1997 TV movie which is book accurate

Andrew Taylor

Make sure you watch the Directors Cut of Doctor Sleep, fills out the story a lot more and is just plain better than the theatrical version

Dale Smith

Well I assume they enjoy watching the films again and it is a way to share excitement with other fans and their audience. I also prefer when it's first time watches but I like that they do this.

The Media Knights

In this case because we’ve been meaning to check out Doctor Sleep! And sure, we could just jump straight into Doctor Sleep and watch The Shining on our own time but there were also a bunch of people who wanted to see this ❤️

The Media Knights

Never watched the one Stephen King made! I don’t think that one did particularly well but we’d be game to watch it a compare and contrast.

Dale Smith

Sounds like Doctor Sleep is next (YAY!), just remember to watch the director's cut, it really is the superior version. Also since your King fans, can I suggest one of his recent movie adaptations? The Long Walk just came out on digital and it's one of my top films of the year.

The Media Knights

We’ve already filmed Doctor Sleep! Ended up going with the theatrical instead simply because it was easier to find in streaming services and last time there were a few people complaining they couldn’t find the “special edition/directors cut” of the film we were watching.

OMG NO WAY!!❤️❤️

Purple Cowboy

I don’t mind rewatching but they’ve watched quite many that both or one of them has seen before. There are so many films out there that I’m sure there will always be “first time” choices that would have the same effect. Don’t get me wrong, they are my favorite reactors by far with Natalie G. coming in as 2nd favorite, and this because both channels have knowledge of the industry, production process, etc. and thus give actual valid feedback instead of the thousands of “hahaha that was funny”-reactors that are just money hogs without any bang for the buck. It would be different if they would be able to push out more content, like per week: 1 TV episode 1 ReWatch Movie 1 Classic Movie (like pre 2000’s or smth) 1 Modern Movie (post 2000) ..but this is a lot of work and might not suit their goals/interests. So with their current output, I’d wish it to be more like, per month: 4 TV episodes 3 Classic/Modern movies 1 ReWatch (or even 1 every 2 months) Still thankful for their work and input! ✌🏽😊

The Media Knights

Been seeing a lot of recommendations for that one! Excited to check it out ❤️😁

Didn’t expect this masterpiece but you guys have surprised me. Can’t wait to watch this movie later. Also can’t wait to watch Dr Sleep with you guys for the first time.

SavageDiplomat

Doctor Sleep Directors Cut is the best version. I would highly recommend that you watch that version. It really fleshes out everything more than the theatrical. Theatrical is good but Directors Cut is great.

SavageDiplomat

Im guessing you mean the theatrical version has been filmed?

jack

you guys need to check out The Descent if you haven't watched it

jimmy2k4o .

No you shouldn’t, that miniseries is dreadful. Lol 4.5 hours of an inferior version of the story. It’s cheesy and silly, seems like a episode of “goosebumps” If there was ever proof that King was wrong about Kubrick’s adaptation, because when King made his own adaptation and it was dreadful.

Miriam A

By the way, since you enjoyed Jack Nicholson's performance so much, you guys really should watch One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest! One of his top performances and a brilliant movie overall

2:21:10 Danny followed his original tracks back to the entrance. Like Wendy said “breadcrumbs.”

Movie suggestions: Mickey 17, Death of a unicorn, Thirteen Ghosts (2001), The Burbs, An American werewolf in London, Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, Locked (Bill Skarsgard), Soldier Dogs, The Haunting (1999) 👻🎃🦇

Here's Johnny!! The Stanley Hotel, yes the Stanley Steamer guy built it, is in Colorado. Stephen King stayed there when he wrote this. Place is purported to be hella haunted.

Loved this as a kid growing up, and as always a great videoo to watch while i'm eating and cleaning😂 CAN YOU GUYS PLEASE REACT TO "THE MIST" It's a movie based off of Stephen King's book called the mist and it's a great movie, i would absolutely go crazy over that video. It's my one of my core childhood memories!

Kyutoko

No TV and no beer make Homer... something something...

Kyutoko

That final shot will always stick with me. He's always been here. He'll always be here.

And absolute classic! A masterclass of acting from everyone which is to be expected with the torment some of them were actually put through on set! You guys should totally watch who framed Roger rabbit if it’s not already on the list! Amazing film I loved to watch growing up, love you guys! 💜

djKENTO

can’t wait to see what you think of Doctor Sleep… especially the director’s cut. YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE DIRECTOR’S CUT!

Bluhawke

Classic for a reason. This is how you do a "haunted house" movie. The slow, insidious dread as already haunted people are fed on and their worst fears exacerbated. Those creepy moments with Jack Nicholson staring into the audience's soul through the camera...masterful. I like Stephen King, but this is definitely one of his stories made better by the reimagining of Kubrick.

The Shining. Kubrick has some real masterpieces under his belt. This film is one of them. The camerawork, the long complicated shots, the intense score and the choices overall are very interesting. You don't have to agree with all of them, but they are definitely intentional. I have to say, since I hadn't seen this for such a long time, the build up was even slower than I remembered and I adore the film for it. A story like this needs a long slow build up since so much of it relies on tension instead of shock and Kubrick shows here he has mastered it. I also very much enjoyed that you noticed the hotel shifting form and being bizarrely built. It's a genious touch from Kubrick. When you talk about The Shining you have to talk about Jack Nicholson. His performance in this is so charismatic, so intense, so despicable and so terrifying all at the same time. Jack is clearly a man on a descent to hell and Nicholson manages to take us completely with him. Duvall as well nails it, almost managing to make us annoyed with her because of her naivity and her helplessness. Danny Lloyd is the one that, for me, has moments that aren't 100% believable, but for a child actor he performs very well. Especially I think he manages being "Tony" very well, he feels very disconnected at those times. All in all, a movie somewhat ahead of it's time but still very watchable today as well. Thank you for getting me to watch this again!
