Ari, I hope I can say this in a way that makes sense, but here's my take on what they were doing with Henry/One/Vecna in the cave. So, all throughout season 5, Henry kept saying how he wanted to use the minds of children because their minds are weak. In his mind, he saw himself as saving them. I don't think it's a coincidence that, as a child, in the cave, the Mindflayer took over his mind. I feel that, in that moment, as he sees it, he let the Mindflayer take over, thus showing a moment of weakness. He sees children as being mentally weak because HE, was weak. Also, when the Mindflayer took over, I wonder if he saw himself as saving the children because he was giving them something that no one gave him. No one was there to save him. In that scene with Will, when he said he wanted this, that he was in control, that he needed the Mindflayer and it needed him, I believe he was saying all those things because for him, it's easier to say he's in control and that he needed this than it is to admit he was being controlled. I believe he knew he was still being a puppet of the Mindflayer, but to admit that, he would have had to face that he is being "weak" and that he isn't any sort of hero. It was his way of feeling like he had agency. Finally, since everything Henry said and did was out of fear of being weak or controlled, I also believe he did, on some level, want to remain with the Mindflayer because while it did take over him, it also gave him a kind of power and strength he could never have on his own. If he let go and tried to fight against it, he would have had to go back to just being Henry, who to him, is just a weak kid who has no power. The Mindflayer at least gives him the illusion of greatness and power, transforming him into something bigger and stronger than himself. Does that make sense? I do agree with what Denise said about Henry. If he had turned to the good side of the force, it would have cheapened his character arc and softened him too much. I love this show. I do feel that certain parts of the finale felt rushed and other parts didn't have the impact they should have, but there's a lot I really like here, and most of it was great. In the end, I didn't love it, but I really, really liked it. I'm so glad I got to share this whole journey with you. After ten years, what a bittersweet send off.

In my opinion, what eleven said to mike about understanding one day and that it takes time, i understood the second time i watched, its because i have a small connection to every character and they all piece together myself, and the feeling of understanding the show NOW, i hated it at first, but it takes time... you will understand one day!

To me Henry was always messed up. Sure he got shot in the hand, but he got the gun away from the guy and he could have maybe hit him once to knock him out and just left the cave and went and told someone what happened. He didn't. He bashed the guys head in. Then took his case. I think the mind flayer amplified his evel. That he always had a level of evil.. But he never tried to get rid of it. He embraced it. Not like Will at all.

The timeline doesn't add up because the beginning of season 4 was their freshman year of high school. Then, vecna, put max in the coma.. Even lucas said it in the first episode of season five.It's been two years since vecna.Did this to you then in the last episode It had eighteen month time jump.. So a total of three and a half years, and the little girl was only in high school for only six months.If you do the math and she graduates, how is this possible.. I guess you have to suspend disbelief

I wasn't there Day 1 (2016) when this series blasted over pop culture media. It wasn't until 2022 when Season 4 came out that I decided to watch Stranger Things. And man!! I had really good time! I had to rewatch the whole series now that it's the final season. What an absolute journey it has been reacting with you two!! Much love!!

Idk if this helps but Max was attacked in March of 86, according to the Duffers. That means they were almost finished with their freshman year, school usually ends in May or June. Season 5 starts in fall of 87, according to Lucas its November 3rd and they have 3 days until the 6th. The finale indicates an 18 month time jump on graduation day. So, its probably May or June 89. As far as Max goes, she was out of school for a huge gap of at least 18 months. I had medical issues in high school and only made it through to half of 10th grade. I was hospitalized for about a year, in and out, but I graduated with my class. I completed 2 1/2 years of school in under a year through homebound teaching once I was recovered. I should have been a senior but my final year covered most of my high school years in one. I also was allowed to walk on graduation day with my class.....and I graduated 1st in my class with honors. It's definitely possible. I sort of just figured Max did something similar to me so I got it.....but I definitely see how it seems off and unlikely.

I think one of the questions left for the show and the Brothers to explore more is: Where did the stone come from? How did they get it in the first place? Also, the "Mind Flayer" was one creature (being) on that planet ... was it the only creature?

Other that the 1st series (which I don’t remember much of) it’s all been a first time watch for me and it’s been an incredible journey watching it with both of you. Overall its definitely been one of the best shows I’ve seen. I’ve really liked everything, the production has been amazing, cinematography absolutely gorgeous. Very well written character and non of them were wasted they all had their moments even Ted 😂😂. My only real negative, was episodes 5,6 & 7 felt like they only had enough material for an episode and half & though it dragged a bit. But that might change on a rewatch. The final episode my only complaint was I thought the final battle all felt a bit too easy. Especially when there was still about an hour left, i honestly was expecting him to come back in some way. But the last 45 minutes of going through all the characters was the perfect ending for me. Because I’ll be honest I had no idea how they were going to wrap it up. Also very surprised pretty much everyone made it. I really was expecting us to lose Dustin, Max or Nancy or all 3 wouldn’t have been a surprise. I’d also be very surprised if we don’t have a spin-off show or films in the future.

EVERYONE hates on Kali, but Kali and El are the ONLY TWO characters who made a plan for what comes after. If they hadn't, El would've been captured and the cycle would've immediately restarted. Hop, for all of his annoying daddy-knows-best bluster didn't prepare for that moment and was completely helpless to do anything. His mindset nearly ruined everything. It was the mindset of the angry, paranoid, ruthless psychic that delivered the goods.

I think Hopper knows. If you look, he looks around at the suppressions they use for 11, saw 11, then looked confused for a second because she was not being affected. Then he realized what was happening and started yelling and trying yo get away because if he didn't, Kay would figure that out. So I think that's why he has handled things so well considering.

It may not have been the perfect finale but to round off a show that becomes as popular as this that you get so invested in, to give it a perfect ending that will please everyone would be a near impossible task. I still loved it, i know because i was in tears, the only other show that i've cried harder at that had an epic finale was Six Feet Under.

ugh watching this again with yall took me a while to be able to do lol I was truly wrecked after watching it the first time. I actually sobbed in the shower for like 30 minutes right after. I know not everyone thought this was the best finale, but I think there was a lot that was great about it....and some that was not so great. In all honesty, I HATE the ending they chose for El. I genuinely think it cheapens the entirety of her story. I would rather they have killed someone else, as hard as all of them would have been, I feel like it was just completely unsatisfying to have her story end the way it did. With there being SO much talk and discussion about how she deserved to have a good life and happiness beyond Hawkins and to have love and a family...only for her to end up with either one of two possible conclusions: death, or living in exile and forced to stay away from the people she loves for the rest of her life. Like...what the fukk is up with that???? If I had to choose, I feel like I'd prefer she be dead instead of having to be COMPLETELY ALONE...after spending her literal entire life before Hawkins exactly that. I love the way they wrapped things up, I loved the details of Henry's story and his ultimate demise. But it feels so incredibly wrong that after an entire series about El escaping a horrific life, finding her people, finding love, finding family, learning about the world, discovering that there is joy and wonder and beauty....none of it amounted to anything meaningful for her. I just don't think it's a fair ending based on literally the entire show that they wrote revolving around her. All that said, I still loved the journey. 10 years of this insane show. I was just out of high school when it first came out and now I am approaching 30. So full of emotions about it and I don't know if any other show will have this kind of incredible cultural effect and impact again in my lifetime. It was an honor to watch with yall! <3
