One of my all-time favorite MCU movies. I still can't comprehend why it was hated so much. I also find it fascinating that the movie title isn't actually the name of the main character. Most backstory MCU movies are named after the main character, even if it's only a nickname.

Captain Marvel is Carol Danvers, who is the main character, not Mar-Vel from Hala. So what you talking about? 🍻

The main character of the movie “Captain Marvel” is named “Vers” and “Carol Danvers”, not “Mar-Vell” or “Marvel”. Dr. Wendy Lawson is named “Mar-Vell”, but she is not the main character of the movie. Even though the graphic novels transition from Carol Danvers to Ms. Marvel to Captain Marvel (due to Danver’s body fusing with Lawson’s body), nohwere in the 2019 movie does Carol Danvers decide to adopt the name “Mar-Vell” or “Marvel”. Via the movie title, we are TOLD about the hypothetical future name change, but we are never SHOWN. Weirder still, at least in this movie, Carol's fighter-pilot nickname was "Avenger". So technically, she's Captain Avenger.

I enjoyed this movie as much as I thrashed and wailed against it and the naming. Caroll Danvers will always be Miss Marvel to me... It's great they added Kamala, but she didn't need to take Caroll's name give her, her own identity. And this besides Star Wars is the ONLY movie where Sam Jackson leaves the planet. He's done everything... but everything he's done... is on Earth. You guys in the end talked about how powerful she is ... and yes she is Marvel's Super-Man if you look at her powers compared to Sups she has the same powerset (in the comics) And she is one of the most powerful Heroes of all Marvel, shown in End Game how they stop attacking everything with the ships and "try" to focus on her. Even Thanos only miffed her hair.

Going to watch this tonight or Saturday afternoon, seen this a few times now and I honestly don’t get why people hate it so much. As I just really liked her sense of humour & I loved the 90’s Nostalgic feel to the film. Also as a Kevin Smith fan I loved Stan’s Cameo linking the MCU to his universe. As he was in Kevin’s movie Mallrats, which if you haven’t watched it should be added to your list as I really think you’ll love the humour and the geek side of it. Oh yes I also got very emotional watching the Marvel Studios logo with all clips of Stan the Man. It also gets me most time I rewatch it lol. But it is a very nice tribute to him.

I remember this movie getting review bombed by white men on Rotten Tomatoes thanks to Brie Larson's comment. She's been getting so much shit talk from you people. I love everyone's fake feelings in the comments. You love this movie? Really?? Well then I love Eternals! It's the best MCU movie period. It's not woke at all and this movie isn't feminst. Wonder Woman is the best female superhero movie and should've cracked $1B not this.
