2026-09-07 06:00 I’m an OG game player of this game from the 2013 version and played all the remasters as well(PS4 & PS5) so I know this series like the back of my hand….I gotta say that I 100% agreed with your overall review of this season..Bella and Pedro did a fantastic job, but not gonna lie, Bella wasn’t really working for me at 1st, but by episode 4 she grew on me and now I see her as a parallel version of the Ellie I love, same goes for Pedro as Joel, they add their own uniqueness to the characters that is similar but also different from the characters we love…but yeah overall my main issue is the budget limiting the shows potential and the lack of action with raiders and infected which could have showcased more of Joel’s ruthlessness and the gradual trust and emotional teamwork Joel and Ellie could have developed with each other through those survival moments, but non gameplayers will simply never know how deep their connection really is beyond the couple key moments they saw in the show…. lastly just the gradual emotional connection Joel and Ellie form through-out the series …I feel less emotional connected to them compared to the game version…the show didn’t give me time to really care for them and their relationship together as father and daughter, it kinda feels shallow if that makes sense…like we obviously know they care for each other very much in the show, but I would’ve liked to see the gradual process of that relationship develop rather than the rather quick result of 9 episodes or 7 if you don’t count the 1st and 3rd episodes

As a non-gamer I KNOW how deep the connection between Joel and Ellie is because Joel tells Ellie it wasn't time that healed him and because he kills everyone, sacrifices the hope of a vaccine without the slightest hesitation to save her, but I don't FEEL it. It's rushed, elliptical. It's a shame, I loved this series, it has so many great moments and unforgettable characters (and the cast, hum! Kathleen, Bill, Frank, Tess, Sam, Henry, Sarah, Mercy... I love all of them so much!!!). For me, there is nothing to throw away, nothing too much. There isn't enough of it, it would have needed two more episodes, or longer episodes, with more intros similar to episodes 1 and 2, and more relationship building moments in Joel and Ellie.

We felt the same way in a few aspects of the show. I guess when we see an adaptation coming there’s an underlying expectation that somehow the show or adaptation will somehow substitute the original. Make it better than the original etc. In the case of TLOU I will say that I’m glad we got both. I feel like the show and the game compliment itself. But I now have this feeling that the show or the game have the complete side of the story. I think it was designed this way on purpose. Because there’s elements missing in the game present in the show. And elements missing in the show present in the game. This lead me to believe that the best way to enjoy The Last of Us is by experiencing both the games and the show.

Definitely more of those intros! It was one of our favorite additions to the show! Looks like there gonna be taking their time with Part 2 so there’s nothing to worry about 😄

The comments from people who played the game about the relationship between Ellie and Joel not being genuine enough or how you can't feel the connection like you did in the game or how non-gamers won't ever get the chance to feel like you did when you played the game, or how the game did this and the show didn't... it's a waste of time. You can 100% feel the intensity of the connection between Ellie and Joel. It's right there on the screen for everyone to see. I, who hasn't played the game, do not need more time or episodes to get the intense connection or the father-daughter relationship. I want more episodes BECAUSE of the intense connection I saw and the father-daughter dynamic that I understood and I just want more story, with them, because of what they already did on screen. The idea that it needs to be more like the game is just fancy complaining based on preconceived expectations. Basically it isn't the exact way you wanted it done so you have to complain about it. Don't say you liked it and then give a 10 paragraph dissertation about how the game was this and the show was that. Nobody cares who didn't play the game, and the people who did play the game apparently already agree with you. So you're not getting anywhere.

This reaction seems to be a bit out of sync like the last one! A bit too fast on your end. I'm not sure if you guys can even fix it at this point, but I just wanted to mention it since I didn't see anyone else doing so.

I agree. I tried to get into the game leading up to the series.. it bored me so much walking . A game is never gonna compare to a good series with real life actors. I will never agree with that argument. A game will never have me as emotionally invested

They changed too much or cut too many iconic and memorable moments. Her bow??? nowhere to be seen... Her shooting to help Joel?? nowhere... Joel is upside down and shooting while she's helping him be cut down... nowhere. He was running with her in his arms and running from gunfire. The high risk was there, and the tension... gone. Her being stopped by joel when she was hacking away at david... that was a stronger moment gone.. the infected were not there for the rest of the season after the encounter with rileys ep. Her inability to swim and Joel trying to save her. Overall, the show was fine, but they changed the best moments and kept the iconic lines, which were alright but not that great like the game. Sorry, but the game still beats this show so far.
