The mirror refuses to show me anything until I answer one question: Who are you? I give my legal name, Samuel, and the glass returns an exhausted man in a suit that has never felt like his. On impulse, I whisper Serena. The surface brightens. Dark waves spill over my shoulders, the suit becomes a fitted black dress, and the tension I carry between my shoulder blades simply releases. I expect the image to vanish when I step away. Instead, satin moves against my body and Serena remains beside the bed, breathing as hard as I am.
