Chapter 3 - "A chilled beginning" (Patreon)

Vivi's road to the first gym had been kinder than expected.
Battle after battle, Vivi pushed forward without hesitation—and without losing a single one. For a novice trainer in a region like Cresva, that alone was impressive. Maybe the stories about this place had been exaggerated after all.
Or maybe…
She was just that good.
Marco and Muscles—Her Hitmontop and Poliwrath, respectively, have fought at her side every step of the way. They weren’t just her first Pokémon—they were her partners, her best friends. Ever since she was little, they had been there, training with her, growing with her. There was no need to question their strength. Not here. Not yet.
She hadn’t caught any new Pokémon either. Not for lack of opportunity, but by choice.
“If they’re not fighting-type, I’m not interested."
After all, she just doesn't want to be the best Pokémon trainer, she wants to be the best FIGHTING type Pokémon trainer. And, so far, that decision hadn’t cost her anything.
With just the two of them, she kept winning and that was enough.
These constant victories filled her ego and made her food taste yummier every day.
"Yep, Cresva is all mine" —said the girl while eating her cereal.
One day, at sunset, Vivi stepped inside the Pokémon Center to get her team checked. She had just finished at the counter when something outside caught her attention.
A sound.
Sharp. Impactful.
A battle.
Vivi paused.
Then turned.
Just beyond the entrance, in the open courtyard, two trainers stood facing each other—Poké Balls already in motion, tension thick in the air.
Her eyes lit up.
“…Oh?”
Without thinking twice, she stepped closer.
And stopped.
Watching.
Something about this one… felt different.
