Mukuro is the current leader of an ancient shinobi clan based in Grape City. Despite being only seventeen years old, he has already earned a reputation as a wise leader, a highly skilled ninja, and one of the most capable Gym Leaders in the region. His mastery of Ghost-type Pokémon and traditional shinobi techniques has made him a respected figure among both trainers and his clan... Unfortunately, all of that dignity tends to vanish the moment he starts talking.

Like many teenagers, Mukuro is going through an intense "dark and tormented" phase. He constantly speaks in dramatic monologues, gives overly elaborate names to everything he owns, and insists on maintaining an aura of mystery at all times. The fact that he specializes in Ghost-type Pokémon only fuels his obsession with appearing cool and intimidating.

His followers and servants genuinely admire and respect him for his talent, wisdom, and dedication to the clan. However, they also have to endure an endless stream of embarrassing declarations about darkness, destiny, cursed spirits, and forbidden powers. Most of them quietly pray for the day Mukuro finally grows out of what they privately refer to as his "eighth-grader syndrome."

Still, beneath all the theatrics lies a remarkably competent young leader whose heart is always in the right place—even if he insists on calling himself the "Supreme Sovereign of Eternal Darkness" every chance he gets.
