Still, despite all the money and privilege, the people of Blueberry Island aren't necessarily bad people. They are simply lucky enough to live in a very wealthy and comfortable place.

Ariel, however, is a completely different story.

She is a huge snob, incredibly arrogant, and so full of herself that her ego could probably fill the entire island. She looks down on people, insults them, and has a special talent for making others feel inferior. She also gets along terribly with Hsu Lin, another very class-conscious woman, although the two of them are quite different in many ways.

Despite all that, Ariel genuinely cares about Blueberry Island and its people. She is the most powerful and influential person on the island, even though she is not its mayor. She secretly likes helping people and would give her life to protect her city and the people she cares about.

So, yes, Ariel is kind of a jerk. A huge one, actually.

But the people of Blueberry Island love her anyway.
