Expedition 33's Lune is Perfect for Tekken 8! (Patreon)
Content
Recently, French-made indie RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has been raking it in, not only getting critical and commercial success but also garnering much-deserved gaming awards. It is quite the beautiful and impactful game, though I guess my reason for really loving it can be summed up in one word: Lune.
Kinda obvious, of course- Lune is one of the game's main heroes- a member of the titular Expedition 33, a mage and a musician. She's also an outstandingly Asian woman in an overwhelmingly European setting, which makes her nicely stand out quite a bit... oh, and she doesn't wear shoes. Yep, that final detail pretty much assures that Lune is my favorite character in the game. Of course, there are alternate outfits that come with footwear, but in her default Expeditioner uniform, Lune walks around shoeless, totally barefoot through the roughest terrain. It helps though that she has the innate ability to fly (or at least hover), skimming over the landscape seemingly without a care in the world. I'd say perhaps her magic use (and the runes on her legs) may also give her protection from injuring her self when she does walk on the ground, but who can say? The game I guess leaves these details to our imagination or speculation.
So it was when I had the opportunity to bring Lune to Tekken 8 via a mod, I took it. According to TheRessen, porting over Lune was the most difficult commission he's done, and I can believe that. Lune's character is noticeable more detailed that most other characters I've had ported into Tekken 8, but I think she looks amazing, even if she doesn't look as lively as she does in Clair Obscur's cinematics. My choice as well to have her as a Head Replacer, so she can wear any of Lidia's outfits as well as benefit from our Tekken 8 Female Feet Overhaul mod, I believe was for the best.
So for a bit of 'lore' here, Lune found herself transported/reincarnated/blipped here into the world of Tekken after her 'end' in her home world of Lumiere. She arrives in France (the Seine stage) so she at least saw some familiar things around her. She soon realizes she has lost the use of her magic, as shown by the disappearance of her leg runes/tattoos. But fortunately she has learned to channel her inner power to a more physical fighting style. Sensing great dangers in this world, Lune begins training and honing her new skills to begin a new expedition in this strange new world.
She was of course recently released as one of our Character Guest mods and I am very happy with her. If you haven't yet gotten her into your game, check out the screens to see one of the best Barefoot Babes of Gaming to come out in a long time in action.
