A couple of hours ago, the Streetfighter 6 teaser trailer for the third Season 3 character dropped. The upcoming fighter is of course Alex, the New Yorker brawler who first made his appearance waaaay back in Streetfighter 3. So this character was initially intended to become the new main character for the Streetfighter franchise and story, but things didn't exactly work out that way.
While Alex has become a bit of a favorite for some gamers, he is bit of a niche fighter. Since his debut, he's made appearances in some SF Spinoffs, but only made his return to mainline SF in Streetfighter V. It didn't seem like the devs knew what to do with him, and his role wasn't really that important back in the big story.
Now he's back with a new design and apparently they're now leaning into him being a bit of a Heel wrestler (heel meaning 'bad guy'), a 'Man with No Allies'. This may put him at odds or in a rivalry with someone like Zangief. I've never been a fan of Alex, but this time, with this more edgy personality and the bad guy wrestler persona, color me intrigued.
Mainly though, in the teaser he defeats Andore with a choke or sleeperhold, and that interests me greatly. Will that be an actual attack or finisher? Will he put his opponents to sleep and then pin them like a wrestler would? I'm excited at the potential KOs to come. There's still a bit of a wait for Alex, as we've yet to see his Gameplay Trailer in perhaps a month or so, then maybe a release thereafter, perhaps sometime in March? Check out the trailer for now.
