2XKO is now DOA? (Patreon)

And I don't mean the sexy Dead or Alive kind.

Well, apparently in recent news the devs of Riot Games' tag team fighter, 2XKO, just announced that they are laying off a large part of their team. Tom Cannon, the game's executive producer revealed that the free-to-play fighting game has not attained a large enough audience to support having a team of their size (160 members).

This happens barely a month since the game's launch on console. It was launched last month? There has been barely any marketing for this game.

Honestly- what did they expect? The game has a small roster, no game modes or Story mode, no narrative explaining why these characters are teaming up and fighting each other, no flash or fanfare aside from the nice in-game art... And NO Barefoot Costumes or any prospect of barefoot mods (I think). The game is dead!

Kidding aside though, its always sad when fighting games have L's like this- but after 10 years of development with such a large team producing a barebones game? They have the best animated series out there with Arcane and they can't even put in a good story to back this all up? All that plus a terrible title... this game has never looked great. But hey, apparently they are saying they're going to keep going... I don't think this will last the year. No one is going to buy skins for a fighter that is already marked for death. This was someone's passion project or an experiment by Riot Games that just went on too long, was mismanaged too badly for it to succeed.

Anyway, moving on. Man, so much bad news today.
