Tekken 8: Keeping Your Game and Mods Safe (Patreon)

Tekken 8 is a gorgeous game. I say, easily the prettiest Tekken ever, and currently the best-looking fighting game. A lot of that has to do with awesome mods that give us extra outfits, sexy bikinis and best of all, beautiful feet for our lovely and lethal ladies. However, there has been a rather serious problem that has hounded the enjoyment of this game for a while now, and its the updates that tend to break our mods.
I believe that it was either Tekken 8 or Streetfighter 6 that caused the term 'Modpocalypse' to become a thing. When a major update or patch to the game arrives, all hell breaks loose causing mods to fail, usually (in Tekken 8's case) causing CTDs or Crash to Desktops immediately upon selection or even moving on to a broken mod. Why does this happen? Its because for some reason the T8 Devs mess with files or file structures in the game. Do they intend this? Probably not, but it wrecks mods just the same and causing really tedious periods when mods have to be updated, fixed or redone by modders, and causing players like me quite a bit of stress.
One way to combat this is pretty simple- BACK UP YOUR GAME.
Literally go into File Explorer, find your Steam folder then the Tekken 8 game folder and then copy-paste it into another drive. That's it. Of course, this requires at least 90 Gigabytes of storage space, which is a bit standard for games these days. If you have idle space, why not just keep a backup?
So when a mod-breaking update hits- which is usually just when a new character drops- you can roll back to the game version where all your mods still work fine and dandy.
How I do it is I make a folder called 'Tekken 8 Latest Version' somewhere in the same drive. If you want to play with your mods, go inside the Tekken 8 game folder in Steam then select all the files and drag them into the new folder.
You should also create a folder called 'Tekken 8 Backup' in the same drive as Steam. Copy your backed-up T8 there. So when you want to play with your mods you can drag your backup files into the Tekken 8 Steam Folder (after you've take our the latest game version). This way, you keep a copy of the updated game, not overwrite it.
So there- its just a matter of switching the latest version of Tekken 8 with your backed-up modded version, which is instant since they are both on the same drive. If you're done playing with your modded game and want to go online, simply switch back the versions.
Once mods are all fixed and all is well, you can then delete your backup and go on as usual. That's how I can keep playing with my tons of mods even after a mod-breaker patch in the past.
Fortunately, in the most recent update that gave us Kunimitsu, very few, if any, mods actually broke. Perhaps the devs FINALLY figured out how to do an update without causing their players loads of misery. Will it remain that way for future patches, such as the upcoming Bob update later this month? We have no idea. Best case, nothing happens and we're all golden (except for Cheat Engine CTs- they always break sadly). Worst case, we have once again tons of mods to get serviced. So all we can do is prepare our Doomsday Bunker Backup, and hope for the best.
