AlucardIV

Yes, this is not me being excited to watch Haikyuu with you guys even though I finished rewatching this show not even a week ago. Let's goooo!

BigManSirob

Before I watch the reaction, I just want to thank everyone here. Everytime a show I haven't watched wins one of the polls, I give it a chance and end up loving it. First HxH, then Code Geass, and now I'm on season 2 of Haikyu and really enjoying it. At this point I'm not even mad when the show I want to win doesn't because the polls are honestly just recommendation lists for me now. So, thanks for having great taste guys 🫡

olivia

now feeling… aroused

Daniel Ormsby

Haikyuu isn't just a sports anime. There's so many characters and twists and turns that I think you'll be impressed overall.

alexis ♡︎
>>145107498

omg i hope you love it!! even if you don’t, it’s okay but i feel like we kinda have similar tastes lmao so fingers crossed for you 🫡

Shadow
>>145107498

Probs wouldn’t have started it without gek but not gonna judge something before I give it a chance🫡 and I like vb anyways

Guy

Kageyama's voice actor is also Genos in One Punch Man btw

afrodude

I used to pray for times like this

Shadow
>>145107669

Ew a cowboy and 49ers fans. We gotta do better than that(still butthurt Lions fan)

Ale

Haven't rewatch Haikyuu in like 3-4 years!! I still need to get out of work to watch it tho 😢

intra101

Hyped, great show

olivia
>>145107634

can we rename this channel to Studio Jackson bc he never misses

PantsuParty

when do code geass episodes drop?

alexis ♡︎

my top 5 if anybody cares (in terms of MY enjoyment, not “quality”) 1. aot 2. haikyuu 3/4. hunter or vinland, depends on the day 5/6. jjk or nana, once again depends on how i’m feeling idk what it is about haikyuu that i love so much. like a big part of it is that i played volleyball for most of my life for sure but i think the other part is the character ensemble. like i literally love these boys like my children 🥹 SO EXCITED FOR THESE, THIS JUST MADE MY WHOLE WEEK

Sandi

HAIKYUUU NATION LETS GO

Coen

FINALLY LETSGOO

Daniella

PEAK has arrived 😭

Saram Shaikh

I’ve waited so long for this! Found you guys on YT reacting to AOT and to be honest just stuck watching you because your reactions are so fun and genuine. I hope you all enjoy Haikyuu!! It’s a special one ☺️

sophie
>>145108743

Riley

YES YES YES YES

botanbutton

WE HERE! Yes, the VA roster is goated. You're gonna hear a bunch of familiar voices that you know and love.

maria

the smile that lit up my face as soon as i saw the notification :3

Zamzam Yusuf

“I have some things to say” 😭😭😭

Starkfern

It's an alright anime. There were so many better ones in the voting list tho. After haikyu is done I wonder how those votes are gonna spread.

Ghedo
>>145110016

its not only alright. Its hands down the best sports anime

Fujiie

WE DID ITTTTT!!!!

Sanji

I wanted to play volleyball but they don’t have boys team in Texas schools which I thought was crazy.

alexis ♡︎
>>145108743

nana is sooo good like it is so upsetting but so real in a way a lot of slice of life aren’t if that makes sense. and the drip is so drippy. definitely my discomfort comfort show

Dayana Calderon

i really want to see you watch this anime, i lov it

Anton Sakshaug

LETS FCKIN GO BEEN WAITING YEARS FOR THIS

Mason Schutz

Oh my god it’s really happening… I love you boys! 😭

Frida BØ
>>145108743

We have very similar taste! Only ones i havent seen yet is hunter and nana so maybe this is a sign to check those out

Vincent S Deluca

This show goes way harder than it realistically should lol

Lily

I am so excited about this! And yes, Brig! Volleyball is a pretty popular sport in Japan, especially women's. Basketball is almost never on the main broadcast TV, but volleyball is, when the VB World Cup or Asia Cup is held. Other popular sports in Japan(Broadcast level) are baseball, soccer, Figure skating, etc.

bondbond53

LM Reactions and the Gek boys starting this at the same time on Patreon? We eating good boys

bebe

OMG WHY WAS I COOKING DOWNSTAIRS?!

bearuber

Volleyball in japan was declining and Haikyuu had such a huge effect and how many players were inspired by haikyuu and volleyball became huge there! hehe

Nash

Man the this show has some insane VAs

Emily

We wonnnnn

TheBookerDeWitt

You guys wont be sayin "its just volleyball" anymore by the time you're done with the show 😈

Abel Nunez
>>145111739

And for those that aren't sure about the effects of volleyball in Japan, just look up some YouTube vids. You'll be shocked.

Nash
>>145112501

Bro they have no idea how good this show is actually lmaooo

esie ♡︎

Them saying Daichi dies has me wheezing lmao

~Mercedeez Lee~

I can’t believe the time has come and yes Haikyuu V.A cast is absolutely goated, it’s just as good as AOTs. Even the music score is great

Chrisiyyi

i also was skeptical of sports animes, but now some of these are in my top animes watched though, the moments and matches can get very hype, kuruko no basket or bluelock or hajime no ippo are all i like alot too.

Alex

Chat is this real?

chloe willmott

I’m literally tweaking out rn I love this show you guys need to get more hype PLEASE

JC

This is a nice gift, thank you

bearuber

BRO 100 LIKES IN 1 HR LMAO WE HAIKYUU FANS WERE REALLY STARVING 😭

AlucardIV

Carter's right! We're in for some great VA roster. Hinata's VA = Luck's VA if any of you ever watched Black Clover Kageyama's VA = Genos from One Punch Man Daichi's VA = Rengoku from Demon Slayer (that's why he's the GOAT) Suga's VA = Ishida from A Silent Voice Tanaka's VA = Olmar from Vinland Saga Also, bonus Itadori Yuji's VA as one of Hinata's former classmate. And yes, Japanese high schools are only 3 years , not 4. And 'karasu' means crow in Japanese that's why they call the Karasuno volleyball team 'crows' and hence all the crow visuals. Sport anime live or die on their metaphors and they will treat every game as life or death situation like any other shonen anime.

Mia Malvik

"It's just volleyball" naaa dude. Sport is life or death

morena

Canon is right! Scoring is 00-00-00 (middle number are called sets - majority wins). You can use any parts of your body to hit the ball, however you cant hold the ball even for a very "obvious" short time.

༒ dianna ༒

I said it, today its the day I quit my job

༒ dianna ༒

IM SO FUCKING HAPPY THIS FIXED MY DAY

Ashley K

High school is 3 years in Japan guys. I’m surprised no one recognized Daichi’s voice lol. Can’t wait to see you guys figure out some of the characters’ VA 🔥

Jeff

I mean, we dive into a bit of the slice of life genre for this show for sure so I wonder how they will llike that aspect. Not everything is fantasy battle shonen xD

Ashley K
>>145107498

You are awesome for not judging without giving it a chance. Hope you enjoy it!

Riley

I’m so glad you guys enjoyed it. I know some of the Geks were apprehensive going in, but thank you all for being open minded.

Nivek

Never seen Haikyu but now I’m solely watching for Kiyoko 🫠

yio

I can't believe it's finally here 😭 I'm so so happy I truly hope you guys enjoy this 🙏

chloe willmott

“Do you think it’s possible for people to die in this show?” Oh no…

ShadowCat

Yes, Haikyuu is not as action packed as the other anime y'all have watched, but its still so good. Like y'all said, it's good for how close it is to real life, with some dramatic flair. And just how amazing the plays and matches are. I'm pumped for y'all to watch more! Also, side note, I'm a female Taylor 😉 so I appreciate the hype lol

Shadow
>>145108743

Yea you weren’t wrong when u said our tastes are pretty similar 😂

bebe

Ghedo
>>145110016

Depends. Its a good show with goated Voice Actors, with a banging soundtrack and animated by Production IG in their prime, dont know what more you want with a show. They reacted to many shows already, sometime they have to go outside top 30

Nash
>>145114106

Can’t wait for them to meet the guy who’s in your pfp. My fav character from the show

Mima

i have such a strong emotional attachment to this show yall just aren’t ready for the Teenage High School Nostalgiatron3000 to hit u

If you guys like haikyu, you should watch ace of diamonds (Baseball anime).

bebe
>>145116339

it was a joke 😭 but why would you believe it? lol

Qhoa

W

bondbond53

I'm genuinely so confused why so many people can't see how a volleyball anime can be goated. Why such a narrow view of what could constitute an amazing story? If it's not AoT or GoT type of storytelling it can't be at the same level? I just can't seem to understand why so many people would be apprehensive about this show

Amna 🍉

Haikyu is about to introduce you to the BEST ANIME VILLAIN

bebe

I believe volleyball was not famous at all before haikyu but haikyu make Japan more invested in volleyball and become more famous and now the japanese national volleyball team members participating in the olympics atm are also fans of haikyu. There are some interviews on that too

Nash
>>145117779

I think they even played the haikyuu ops in olympics too

Nash
>>145117779

Correct me if I’m wrong tho. I also heard it from someone else

Zechree

I'm going through this show with them and I guess I can't read comments because you guys want to spoil your favorite show. bummer.

leah
>>145108743

huge dub!!! mine (in terms of my own personal enjoyment as well) would be 1. vinland saga 2. hunter x hunter 3. attack on titan 4. banana fish 5. jujutsu kaisen but that being said, i ALWAYS go back to haikyuu and just rewatch random episodes. it’s such a comfort for me.

Enma

I used to be like Cannon and never really liked slice of life, but as time went on and after watching a good amount of anime, I can easily say that slice of life is a top 3 genre in anime.

~Mercedeez Lee~

‘Just Volleyball’ is basically the famous line majority of reactors say in the beginning before experiencing the Hypekyuu glory. I know it’s hard to believe now but you guys are in for a journey

Melizé
>>145107601

For real. I watched the reaction with tears in my eyes 🥹🥹

VIcK

Omg I'm so excited!!! I've watched Haikyuu like at least 10 times but I still love watching reactions

Izaya

Cannon, we will slowly but surely deconstruct your (already) battle-shonen corrupted brain. once yall get the mainstream battle shonen anime out of the way yall are gonna experience real anime with the seasonal isekai trash and degenerate romcoms. one day we'll get there but for now some Haijyuu to detox from the battle shonen pit. But i do like the process of reverting Cannon's pre conception of stuff. Its always a fun process and why the "anime haters" is such a good initiative

Bell60100

i’m so excited for this!!! can’t wait for season 3

esie ♡︎

Changed the PFP for this occasion. Bless 🙏🏻

Süm

Hinata's friends, Izumi and Koji, joined the team to help Hinata complete the team for the tournament btw. They are not in the volleyball club. I think one of them is on the basketball team and the other one is on the football team

alexis ♡︎
>>145108743

@shadow great minds 🤝 😂 but seriously i think you’ll really enjoy it, especially if you like vb

kai

all ima say is this show finna have yall by the balls (literally)

alexis ♡︎
>>145108743

leah, i’m genuinely scared to watch banana fish because i’m almost certain that i’d love it, but i also think it would rip me to pieces from what i’ve heard😭 should i just bite the bullet🫣 also W list btw

Fe

I hope they don’t get spoiled on anything

jessiefungirl

Cannon, it's funny you say the dramatic nature of the dialogue is too much for you; my brother watched this just last week, and he's said the same thing... Now he's caught up to me and walks around the house quoting characters. We're currently watching s4 together.

jessiefungirl
>>145120197

I forgot to mention he asked me like 2 hrs ago when we were watching the next episode 🤣

Elle B.

Loving the storyline predictions at the end. Lol

Süm
>>145120197

Fr I have so many favourite quotes from this show

MADHOUSE

Trust the process, boys. You may not like every character in the beginning seasons, but I can assure you'll come to like most, if not all, of the characters by the end. And this show is HEAVILY character driven. Enjoy!

‎

Fujoshi anime lets goooo

Kite

the only opinion I have about this show is that it makes me happy

bebe
>>145120783

i cant wait to see their reaction to other teams too

bondbond53

Haikyuu reminds you that it's cool to care, to be passionate about something and when you care so much it is a matter of life or death. How often is your family gonna be slaughtered by demons actually and how often are you gonna be passionate about something and want to improve in your craft and prove yourself through it?

Grady

It shoulda been more Naruto🥲

naopou

🤣🤣 Hinata and Kageyama ARE very immature this season but then again it makes sense since they are like 15-16...

AlucardIV
>>145113870

All in due time you guys. Even if they used the wrong poster let's not rush things as well.

alexis ♡︎

cannon is the first reactor (outside of sarah pavan, my queen) i’ve heard say hit instead of spike 😂 and he said something about outsides/opposites and i was like HUH i have so many questions now.. like how long did he play? did he play club? what position did he play? how tall is he wtf?? MR. ANDRUS PLS I NEED TO KNOW

Albin Limani

I don't know what streaming service you guys are using but the translations are a bit off. For example, when Daichi tells them what they are called by rival teams, it is actually: 'Fallen champions" and "Flightless crows", not what is said there. Not that it is bad or breaks the story, just hope they don't change some of the iconic quotes of the show. And while the anime takes a while to get rolling(I loved it from the start but I know it is a bit slow), when it gets going it just doesn't stop. As for the music, it has an amazing soundtrack, especially during hype scenes. The composer is Yuki Hayashi, he does the music for My Hero Academia and the soundtrack for that anime is one of the best ever. The guy just does not miss. Kageyama's VA is one of the upper 5 clones in Demon Slayer s3. But you will know him as Genos from One Punch Man. And his most iconic role apart from Kageyama is as Tenya Iida, from My Hero Academia, with which Haikyu! shares a lot of voice actors. Oh and for the end, the studio that makes Haikyu! is Production I.G. which also made Kaiju no.8.

bateman bookworm

it’s kind of slow in the beginning but after the first 6 episodes it picks up quick

N P

Despite my distaste of this show I'll still be watching, just for the fact that if they like it they might include more sports anime like Hajime no Ippo, can you imagine the hype they'd have for that?

adi

I just had to sub for this, sooo excited for more ><

AlucardIV
>>145118295

I can also vouch for that. I used to be so against watching SoL and then after a number (a high number) of anime under my belt I've grown such an appreciation for the genre without even noticing. There's nothing like watching anime characters do nothing between watching other anime characters punch each other. It's like a cleanse.

Albin Limani

Oh and one more thing, I have seen a lot of reactors look for the villain in the show and end up enjoying it less because of it. There are no villains in this show, the sooner you realize that the better. There are only rivals. But, one of the characters from Haikyu! was voted as the best villain of all time, so maybe I am wrong lol. Just kidding.

Kesendo

They are not ready for that PEAK villain who does the legendary serve that ends up nuking the whole city 🔥🔥

Albin Limani
>>145120197

My little brother is ten years old, has only watched shounen anime like Naruto, One Piece, My Hero Academia etc. I made him watch Haikyu! like 2 weeks ago and he keeps asking me every night to watch more.

Balzhan

I’m so happy you guys are reacting to this show! Just trust the process, as soon as the tournaments start you will love it 🤩

le

YESSSSS

Balzhan

Haikyuu is the best sports anime in my opinion. I’m not a fan of sports at all, but for some reason i really enjoyed watching this title. I rewatched it recently and loved it even more. I’m looking forward to your reaction 😁

Albin Limani
>>145117779

Volleyball was popular in Japan, but only Women's Volleyball. Male Volleyball was in a big decline until Haikyu! came out. It literally saved the Male Volleyball scene in Japan, where their National Team is now top 5 and just won a silver medal like a month ago, their first in history. And other countries are big fans too, a lot of them even have characters from Haikyu! as mascots. Haikyu! openings and OSTs are played regularly at volleyball matches too. It had the same effect on me as well. I hated volleyball until I saw Haikyu!. I watched it in my first year of highschool and I have been playing volleyball weekly for 8 years now.

jessiefungirl
>>145120197

@Albin Nah, I think we're the same person lowkey. My brother's almost 14 and we watch things like OPM, MHA, and Kaiju together, and he came to my door today, "When are we starting the next match?"

Nash
>>145123355

My fav reactors that reacted this show is yaboyroshi, Carlie and Ange and Boldcast. Can never get bored of watching them

Poragami

praying on haikyus downfall

Albin Limani
>>145107634

If you love it right now, you are gona loooooove it later. It just gets better and better. I genuinely think the first 5 episodes are the weakest.

Niffol

"I don't like slice of life." Canon we all know this, we remember you asking for more sus.

Kite

mark my words, Cannon is going to absolutely love this show

jessiefungirl
>>145123355

I think the term they should lean towards is "antagonist" rather than villain. A form of opposition that doesn't have to be on demon time.

Albin Limani
>>145123355

Yes, antagonist is the correct term. And if you look at it through that lens, Haikyu! has some of thr best antagonists in anime. One in particular is one of my favourite anime characters ever, but I won't spoil.

LaYami・砂漠の子
>>145122293

what you said about "Fallen champions" is true, but the subs on "The Crows that can't fly" is actually correct, Daichi said 飛べない烏 which means "The Crows that can't fly" like mentioned, yes it is translated to "Flightless crows/birds" sometimes but it is not that away from the meaning when it comes to using it in a figurative sense + all of anime subs are off when it comes to certain lines, however I notice when it is an important quote or line that affect the story, they do not fk up the translation which is the most important thing ofc

ooAlmondMilk

Drop your top 3, mine is tsukki, tanaka and tendo

neko

I love haikyuu but some of yall really need to chill out 😂😂, cannon has a valid point, some dialogues in this show is indeed dramatic and there's nothing wrong with that. Anime is dramatic most of time especially shounen anime. And yes haikyuu is still a battle shounen but a very good one!

‎

Fujoshi animes are for girls though. Why are majority of audience women?

Albin Limani
>>145125236

I think it would be considered a spoiler, but my top 3 is: Oikawa, Bokuto and for third I can't choose between Tanaka and Tsukishima.

Albin Limani
>>145124471

I don't know if you remember, but these guys started not liking anime and if they did not try they would not have watched some of their favourite shows ever. This is also something different, which they can end up liking.

Albin Limani
>>145122293

It may be the correct translation, but nearly everyone uses the terms I said. Again, it is nothing that will break the show.

A_Daddy Daichi

Cannon, I also played volleyball in high school! It was so hard but also I was a twig lmao

Boi

Yall gonna meet one of the top 10 most evil anime villains of all time in this show, bro spiked a ball at an orphanage and destroyed half of the neighborhood alongside it

le

Once the rival matches start the hook is so real

~Mercedeez Lee~

Despite what others say, especially haters and anti’s. Haikyuu IS a Shonen anime to the core, so there will be dramatic moments & dialogue in the show because that’s just shonen anime in general

Lydia
>>145122151

answer her Cannon! I love when we get little tidbits about these strangers we watch all the time lmao like tell me more about this Carter Jack McKay kindergarten feud pls

Lydia

I saw a gleam in Carter’s eye 👀 the production , soundtrack, direction AND characters are so good in this and I know that’s his jam. He’s guna end up loving this I just know itttt.

Miya

Omg yes! Been waiting for this one! It starts out a bit slow but picks up. Just give it a few more eps. I'm positive you guys will really enjoy the show!

Niffol

Pretty sure high school is 3 years in Japan.

aubrey

let himnata cook 😩 ‼️

Carrie

“Oh so this orange-haired kid’s the smacker?” 😭😂

Poragami
>>145124471

nah i'm hating for a reason, you guys are just way too biased towards that show

aubrey
>>145107216

YESSSS i was waiting for somebody to bring up blue lock too!!

Izaya
>>145128722

i was under the impression that it was 3 years everywhere in the world... am i wrong? I know the US loves to be the different one in the group always. They have literally different conventions for everything possible for no reason

Sasha

Well anyone's top three can be different. Like Brig and McKay are number 1 fanboys of Naruto. I would value Brig's friends opinion more.

bearuber

we need some exorcist in here, there's some negative energy lurking around the comments and possibly in the future. we must stay wholesome here 😤

Ale

So a few things... -High school is 3 years in Japan -This is a Shonen so it does have a lot of dramatic dialogs lol -Most famous sport in Japan is baseball (and Sumo), men volleyball was in slope so the author of this manga (Furudate) wrote this with the hope of inspire boys to start playing again (and boy he did, Japan's national volleyball team is currently top 2 at Olympics) -In sports clubs there are managers which are students that don't play but are an aid to the team, keeping stats and doing miscellaneous works, that is that girl's role. -Hinata in this case is a last name, in Naruto's case is used as a first name -Haikyuu ran from 2012 to 2020 in the Shonen Jump. -The Voice actor cast in the show is insane, some of them actually became famous for their role in this anime. I was hoping you recognize Rengoku's VA here but oh well... I know you guys will trust the process and we all will be here just screaming when the matches happen lol

~Mercedeez Lee~
>>145128722

Here in Australia it’s 6-7 years in high school. We start in year 7 and finish in year 12 or 13 for some schools. Im pretty sure New Zealand is the same too

Sasha

And for Cannon's information sports are like that for some people. It is life or death. Nothing corny about the wording. Unrelated but I watched judo at the olympics and when the reigning champion was eliminated she started to yell and cry uncontrollably. I think her words would be as serious like in this anime.

Ale
>>145129972

Oh I forgot, this is not spoiler it NEVER gets addressed in the show (bc is obvious to Japanese audience and the subtitles didn't address it) but most of the teams have the name of an animal in their name. The Karasu in Karasuno also means crow, that's why they are called the "flightless crows" and that's why we get random shots of crows here and there lol

bearuber
>>145130445

someone just said to change the channel name to studio jackson because of his W takes wahahahaha

krystin-02

The guys on his team were just his friends they did him favor, one played football and the other one basketball 🫶

Sasha
>>145126092

Did you change your name when this came out. It's a familiar profile pic.

Sasha
>>145123355

Almost every anime has an antagonist. But people be absolutely stupid if they think a sports anime will have a world destroying villain.

Ale
>>145124919

That's Cannon's thing, he always gets random beef with a character and said character ended up being one of his favorites at the end, I'm sure he will enjoy Haikyuu a lot haha

Ana

I'm not gonna watch these but glad the fans finally got it. I'm hoping y'all get through quick and hopefully MHA can have a slot. But for those who watched this. Who's feeling and who's not?

Brittany (Ultraanimegirl4)

Haha love hearing the skepticism going in, totally valid XD I would have never watched it if I didn't see so many people raving about it online and had to see for myself what it was like. I am not someone who is a fan of sports and I hated playing volleyball in school. I did not understand the point of a sports anime. And then I watched it... And I put Karasuno's school motto on my university graduation cap years later. That is what it means to me. WILD :D So excited!

Yeah. Sometimes a bad sub will ruin the moment. "Crows that can't fly" is 100 times less epic than "Fallen Crows"

I wonder if some people have never watched a volleyball game in person before? It’s literally so fun and extremely intense (have you at the edge of your seat) game. Haikyu does a fantastic job of bringing that to life

>>145128722

Back when I was going to High School, you started in year 8 but the year after I graduated was when they moved year 7 up to High School and just a few years ago, some schools ( not all ) added year 13

Same. One hour of this and right back to the olympics. There are way too many sports to watch though😵‍💫

>>145128722

Interested to know if that didn’t make school feel hella long for you guys?? In middle school it’s grade 6-8 then high school 9-12 so it was a nice transition mentally

Sasha
>>145113870

Exactly. Daichi is the goat because he has same voice actor as Rengoku. But for real I didn't know it. That just shows a voice actor with a real talent.

Angad Kang
>>145131350

everyone likes it so far. Jack loves it, mckay is skeptical about how is this sports anime 90 ep long and will it get repetitive. cannon was not sure about over the top dailogs, which he said would suit them if they are fighting for death but its just volleyball (he will love it in future for sure) and carter wants to know who is going to die.....(too used to people getting killed in anime)

~Mercedeez Lee~
>>145128722

Honestly never really thought about it, it was just normal I guess to be in High school for that long. The transition was a little overwhelming in terms of the different and more advanced subjects/classes but since Primary school has just as many years and student count as High schools, the transition wasn’t that weird

naopou
>>145125236

tsukki, hinata, daichi, but tbh almost all the cast ties in third place...

How is this a fujoshi anime? 😅 it's published in Shounen Jump lol I think the fan base is actually fairly equal between guys and girls

Brittany (Ultraanimegirl4)

Yea junior high in Japan is like grades 7-9 in America, and highschool is grades 10-12

Carrie
>>145125350

I have tried for years to watch sports anime, yet never could get into them. none of them felt cool enough or real enough. this one.. brought back almost every feeling of playing sports in hs and college. I've now watched it twice and I'm stoked to watch it again with yall.

Cannon it's kinda clutch that you mentioned Ted Lasso, cuz in certain ways this is animated Ted Lasso. Lots of differences too, but that through-line of believing in yourself and positivity is like the biggest thing in both shows.

KUROKO BASKET>>>

Hunter Snider

I have a theory that if you put Hinata in another anime and gave him traditional MC powers, he would just be the best. Get Hinata in JJK he's clowning the whole verse idc. Unbreakable spirit on that kid

Ulises Flores(Uliee.)

Maybe is the skeptic in me but I guess the reason I haven’t watched this anime or gave it a chance is because of the repetitiveness it may bring. But so far the first two episodes were solid and the animation is really good.

I felt the same!! But tried S1 during the pandemic and never looked back. Now in my top 5.

"Is volleyball popular in Japan?" OMG their Japan team is similar to these Haikyuu guys lol try to watch some clips on YT.

y

ive heard about haikyuu for years and even know how it ends, but this will be my first time watching it and im really curious ngl also i notice they kept the japanese/asian way of saying their names with last names first in the subs, so hinata is shoyos last name (hinata is both a name and last name)

Luna Meow

We all know ep 9, is were we see if they like Haiyku or Love it. ...my sadistic side can't wait for the stress/anxiety over an outcome of a volleyball game they'll have.

Connor O'Hara

If you're worried about slice of life, don't be. This is basically a classic battle shonen except the battle system is volleyball instead of ninjutsu or whatever

Zakki
>>145145443

I felt the same before I started watching it too (+ I'm not even into sports), but I fell in love with it once I finally gave it a chance. I'm pretty sure a lot of people think that Haikyuu will be repetitive/boring because they know it as "an anime about volleyball" (and like, yeah, it is 🤣). But if volleyball was all the anime is about, it would be essentially the same as watching a series of animated volleyball championships (which was sort of my original impression of the show), and that certainly wouldn’t make for an interesting anime. But the other main thing about Haikyuu is that it has a really interesting cast of characters with relatable/realistic struggles, and the show does a fantastic job of tying those into each character’s journey/goals. Sure, we want our main team to win the matches, but the thing we end up cheering the most for is character development/overcoming personal hurdles lol Btw, if you think the animation was good for these first two episodes, you’re gonna REALLY like it when they start having official matches - I’m pretty sure that’s where all their budget goes lol The OST is amazing too.

Zakki
>>145150546

Let's gooo!! Haikyu is my top 3 favorite!! Ayaulym🇰🇿

Can't wait for Cannon's "That's only Voleyball" to evolve. I bet my money that by the end of season 1 it will change, at least a bit

Ayaulym🇰🇿

Btw based on your prediction I can tell that you're kind of missing the main plot. It's not just Voleyball, for me this anime is HINATA'S journey. You know how in Naruto it's not just about ninja's but specifically Naruto's evolution. Same here. Also some of these predictictions are … interesting. You should come back to them after you finish Haikyuu it’s gonna be hilarious

~Mercedeez Lee~
>>145160246

Crazy how you’re bothered about the shippers in the Haikyuu fandom when you literally have a JJK pfp, like everyone knows the shippers in JJK are way worse than Haikyuu’s and way more annoying too. Anyways like others have pointed out, shipping culture is a huge thing in all of anime. Especially with big time Shonen series. Yet you have nothing to worry about since there seems to be none of those type of fans here on patreon

Nico

At first, I also didnt get why Haikyuu was popular like that. I was skeptical, like cmon, how can a sports anime be good? I would rather watch real life sports instead. But boy was I wrong. The slice of life makes the series very relatable. Even more so in the future when it gets into depth about volleyball and each persons experience with a sport. I get why Cannon thinks "Its just volleyball", but its not, this is more than just a sport. All these predictions are funny as hell when you are a Haikyuu fan. Cant wait to see you change your mind later on.

Oromis

Where do they watch anime? It's again just really weird subs that often even change the context of what's happening. Same thing with Naruto and some other shows. Love the show and the reactions but it's just a shame constantly reading subs and being like "wait that's completely different from what they said in the official subs". For example: "That Guy. He scored a genuine point." vs "Our point was stolen by him!" Or: "This guy overwhelms me." vs "I could barely follow him with my eyes." Just a few examples but I think they completely change how Kageyama comes across as a character, and considering how character driven this show is it kinda matters. In the sub they are watching it's like Kageyama just wants to praise Hinata, while in the blu ray subs it's about him being frustrated with himself and his own team. Same thing kinda with Tanaka: "It turns me on when she ignores me!" vs "I love it when she ignores me!" Ye Tanaka is supposed to be a bit weird but straight up saying she turns him on changes the tone of it quite a bit. This also explains why then later on they are confused and thought Hinata was playing well, but the first episode is supposed to show that he is very bad at basically every skill except his quick reflexes and explosive jumps. Just in these 2 episodes there were already tons of these character inconsistencies. Afaik they watch sub because they want to experience the shows more authentically but if they keep watching wrong subtitles I feel like it just defeats the purpose of watching it subbed instead of dubbed.

Dapper Dad

Haven’t commented before, but I voted for this and wanted to reassure you guys: This show makes me relive my high school/college competitive days. It’s what made me seek out post-school competitive sports; This show is def worth it

These are Crunchyroll subtitles. I checked because I watched this 10 years ago with fansubs sub and they are a little different. Definitely the one that stands out the most is Tanaka's line to Kiyoko, since I don't remember him EVER implying something sexual with her... I think the english translators take a lot of liberties and sometimes the dialogs even come out of character, which is a shame. I check the subs in my mother language, and they say the exact same thing you put there as the bluray subs.

Oromis
>>145264428

Ye it's really weird to me. I've never used crunchy roll but I always assumed that the biggest western website for anime releases would use correct subtitles. Or at the very least update their subtitles to be correct once official Blu ray subs are released. It's kinda crazy to think how many people must be using crunchy roll and probably completely misunderstand some shows or have different perceptions of them because of these translations. It also definitely is worse with some shows than others but in Haikyuu and Naruto it is especially egregious(or maybe I just notice it with those shows since they are some of my favorites that I've watched multiple times), and very often when the studio Gek guys are confused about a plot point or characters motivations it is just because of bad subtitles. I personally always prefer subs as well, but if they are just completely mistranslated like this I'd recommend just switching to dub. In general Haikyuu is a good dub and can make it easier to follow the action.

The subs for haikyuu on crunchy are actually good compared to many other subbed shows on crunchy. There will never be perfect translations and yes the subtitle team at crunchy use weird translations most of the time for every show but that doesn’t make Blu-ray subs automatically better bc I’ve seen crappy Blu-ray subs a lot of times as well. It is what it is guys so let’s just enjoy the fact that they are watching this 😊

Rewatching this again while waiting for the next Shogun drop, Haikyuu is really such a fun and wholesome series. Besides the amazing characters and the depth the story goes into with what it’s like being an athlete, a lot of it is very relatable. The passion and drive shown through Haikyuu characters with a sport like Volleyball just makes the world in the story feel real. One of the many reasons as to why it’s my second favourite anime of all time

OH MY GOD

dotsae 🇧🇷

My TOP3 anime of my life, LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

If you're used to subtitles being a certain way, then the Crunchyroll ones may irritate you but they're not necessarily wrong. Like Tanaka is LITERALLY saying "I get excited/aroused/stimulated when she ignores me!" [he uses the verb "koufun-suru/興奮する" ]. If anything, from your example, the blu-ray subtitles seem to water down some of the translations imo (or make them simpler sentences). The Crunchyroll subtitles are translated more word for word, so they're a little clunky.

All Tanaka haters eventually will become Tanaka lovers

next eps when...

HNadR

Cannon, there are things outside of living in literal warzones or having to fight some supernatural villains (which isn't a thing in real life) that can get people super emotional y'know. Thus there are a few who actually talk and think, about something like a sport, the way Hinata does in real world. Different people have different priorities. Some are super competitive so sports can become life or death for a bunch of them. It's a real thing lol.

Rawdota

Hey guys, Haikyu is ok, but why not start sports anime with Blue Lock??? It's the #1 sports anime and was the #1 selling manga of 2023, beating one piece when luffy accomplished his biggest feat (Not spoiling). It broke the record for world manga sales and season 2 will begin october.

HNadR
>>145376015

That's because Haikyu won their poll over Blue Lock lol

Rawdota
>>145376015

Oh OK. Thank you for telling me. I didn't vote in the poll so I guess I can't complain. I hope they do blue lock eventually. I will still enjoy haikyu.

Kna

came back for this! excited! at long last!

Kna

I like Blue Lock but it’s genuinely not even close to Haikyuu in terms of overall popularity, animation quality, and the message. And while Blue lock is definitely entertaining, Haikyuu is the one with life long message and lessons while also being extremely entertaining

MissJodles

The fact that this has so many likes and comments… We’re SO BACK

MissJodles
>>145376015

Yeah I watched first half of Blue Lock and ended up dropping it because I found it a little boring lol… I’m sure it is still really good for a lot of people, but the message being one of just solo-power and egotism with the super-dramatic battle royal setting feels a lot more lame when you’ve already read the entire Haikyuu manga and seen how profound and beautiful a sport grounded in reality and true life lessons can really be. I doubt anything in Blue Lock will EVER make me feel the way the "What will you become tomorrow" panel made me feel in Haikyuu

Oromis
>>145264428

Ye like I said the Tanaka one is just a slightly different feel. However the Kageyama lines completely change his characterisation. Middle school Kageyama wouldn't praise Hinata, he would just be mad at himself and his team mates. That's kinda the point of his character starting point. And you can see how on episode 2 all of them were confused by the inconsistencies this created when "all of a sudden" Kageyama is saying Hinata is a bad player.

Bingsu

First time to watch this anime. I just remember razor in HxH when he said something about death haha! The anime looks promising so i will continue watching this! :>

Fe

starving for some haikyuu today

alubanu

season 1 is my least favorite season of the show. But the show is in my top 3

Riley

I’ve got a tournament this weekend, need the next reaction for motivation 😤

Nash
>>145427339

Stunflower

this show is SOOOO GOOD honestly it takes getting used to but it is a gem

vee

we want moreeee please 🤸🏻‍♀️🏐🐦‍⬛

Christa

I like how Jack likes it and he's right, this anime is just wholesome. It's a good break from all the trauma that we see from other shows. And there's no need to think hard to understand the series. It's a good watch after a long exhausting day. You can just relax and have a laugh.

konfetti

Its so cute to see you guys just smile because of the wholesomeness on this show!! Looking forward to seeing more of Haikyuu!!!

Kna
>>145646142

Okay, I have to know. Today as in Monday right? Like right now 😭😂

bebe

so no haikyu today?

yuna

Daichi is giving major Erwin vibes with that speech 😂 so glad you guys are watching this!

Thiivi

This is my #2 anime behind AOT. I've watched it so many times lmao

edin

best anime of all time

Secretly

Fun fact about this show, most people in Japan call people by their last names unless they're close so you may get confused. His middle school friends called him shoyo or sho, but his last name is Hinata so most people will be calling him that.

Thiivi

This show has all the hype of a battle shonen without the battles. The way they portray the sport of volleyball is really cool!

Tokyo GxS

OMG THEY ACTUALLY DROPPED IT 😭 I can’t wait for them to watch all the seasons bro

Verito

This is what I meant by never back down never give up. I've been waiting for y'all to watch this for a LONG TIME

Marc Davey

me and the wifey thought the exact same thing how the fuck can a volleyball anime be so highly recommended and it became one of my fav all time anime lol

Jess

literally joined patreon for this!!

LuvStarburst

I would have never watched this anime if it wasn't for you boys. The only other anime that's like this that I have seen is Ace of Diamond and it was one season.

naopou
>>146100877

there are three seasons now!! you should def check them out they are incredible!!

Him Mori

Damn this show is good asf… it sets the vibes perfectly, can already see why people have it as their GOAT

Icchi
>>146720030

PinoyAkoPH
>>146720030

Glad to see you enjoying the beginning! Every Haikyuu fan wishes we could erase our memories to watch it over again with fresh eyes. You'll love it! Happy watching

Stanley Labissiere

I’m telling y’all, this show SOMEHOW became top 5 all time for me. The manga ended and it’s the most satisfying ending to any show I’ve ever watched

Frost

You would be so much into ace of diamond regarding the trashtalk/seriousness i love haikyuu but im sometimes cringed at how over dramatic they are

Jenny D

Haikyuu is such a great anime! It's definitely in my Top 5.

rene

Watching this again after them making it to season 4 is just amazing

aj1294

Rewatching after their movie reaction 🥹
