Hunter Snider

I haven't rewatched seasons 7 and 8 and haven't been following along on this Gek watch, but just scrolling the comments is so funny. It's evident that a lot of people here just want the guys to like each show exactly as much as they themselves like it, with no criticism involved. Sorry folks, that's not what this is. Why are people urging Carter to enjoy seasons 7-8 "for what they are" and not to think about things that much?? That's insanely dumb lol. Have you ever considered that maybe he doesn't like this because it's really not good? Obv that's subjective, but idk why anyone expects highly positive reactions at this point in the show, we're firmly in garbage territory.

Just to clear some things up first of all I appreciate people who are wondering if I had a bad day or something! But what I can say is no I did not. I am just severely disappointed even though I knew it was coming. I’ve said this many times but writing is what makes me tick, but it’s also what makes me crash and burn😂 it’s why something like Demon slayer and Naruto just didn’t do it for me. The next upload in the outro this whole thing about my demeanor really came to a head and you’ll see that. Let me just say this in advance. Always take my post commentary over your perception of my reaction. I will always say exactly what I think and it’s more accurate than trying to decipher based on my reaction although the reaction can be telling. It’s just not the whole story. People probably think I hate the show and I don’t at all. But anyways you guys will just have to wait and see the post commentary of the next upload😂

idc idc a Drogon/Dany battle scene will do it for me every single time. that being said im ready for the end of this journey. 9 more eps we can do this people 😤

Melczech

FUN FACT: Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet. Maisie Williams (Arya) is right handed, but in the books, Arya is left handed, so Maisie learned to fight left handed, to be true to the source material. Pretty impressive.

Zai Yuka

Carter's face was hilarious during that fight🤣

Count Dooku

the ender pearling around the map really takes away a lot of the enjoyment. makes the show feel less grounded and strips us of character development that could of been made along the way. rushing the last few seasons was the biggest mistake. carter's reaction is accurate to how a lot of us felt

Dude Man McGee

Carter’s face during the entire Arya and Brienne scrap was hilarious compared to everyone else’s 😂

Alex

BETTER DRAGON VISUALS AND COMBAT THAN HOTD

𝕯𝖎𝖆𝖓𝖆 𖤐

I love the Brienne scene, she has been training for this moment since Sirio taught her to water dance in King’s Landing. I see it as a compilation of all the fighting styles she’s learned through the years.

a_daichi

I read all the comments. whew. I’ll just say, let’s think about what we type up before posting it and ✨relax✨ That’s all 🫶🏾

MaraReaper

Carter’s reaction is how mine was when I first watched lol, you can feel the writing quality drop faster this season. I’m happy that everyone else is enjoying the season tho

a_daichi

I definitely understand not liking how Arya seemed to adapt all these new sword fighting skills kind of out of nowhere . I for sure wish we would have seen more offensive sword training with her but regardless of that, her scene with Brienne was epic!!!

a_daichi

Bronn should have died here & I like him for the most part

Timmy Turner

I get that the showrunners wanted to show a parallel between S1 and S7 by having Arya be as skillful and confident as her dancing master, but this isn't how you do it lol

Clegane (GOT Season 1-8 enjoyer)

i think complaining about time travel is hilarious. Like as much as i want to watch someone march from dragonstone to the reach or a boat ride from Winterfell to Dragonstone, i can live without. Shit would be 45 seasons just so we can check in with people like Hotpie.

Maari

I feel like this episode really starts to show how consequences start to matter less in the show. GRRM's writing was pretty unforgiving. There were real life or death consequences for main characters. Here it's just sort of wishwashy. Also, the shortening of time with travel starts to show to an incredible degree because it no longer takes any time to get any messages anywhere. You might as well have a fast-travel system in world by this point. The show has become spectacle- but for me, once the initial drama of it wears off, it feels very hollow.

Arya has been getting lessons throughout the series: Survival lessons, fighting lessons, arrow shooting lessons. In S1 Ep 1 she was already a better archer than Bran, and she learned more archery lessons from one of the guys in the Brotherhood without banners. When she was with The Hound, we saw her practicing and doing one handed flips. Not saying she was better than Brienne, but neither of them was trying to actually kill the other. I've watched dozens of people react to this particular episode. I've never seen anyone look depressed afterwards until now. But at least Carter enjoyed the dragon battle scene.

ssj4rit

I actually feel so bad for Carter, you can pinpoint the exact moment his spirit deflates and he realizes he’s no longer watching the GoT he knew and loved.

Divayth Fyr

One request: go back to Histories and Lore at any given time. But plz react to it all.

Carter is me when I watched this. Its like is what I'm watching awful or even bad? - absolutely not; some parts are even peak like the end of the episode, but god damn, these were the times we prayed for back in the day, so every bit of canned dialogue or teleportation trope, or trivialised battle, just hits that much harder as you slowly realise your not going to get the payoff you expected. Show still slaps though it just couldn't live up to what it was set up to be. Edit: Felt like I should add. I don't presume to know what carter actually thinks, I'm just reading vibes here really.

ssj4rit

Carter is being a downer for no reason. Arya has +3 Sekiro stat and Mikiri Counter, while Brienne has -5 speed buff due to heavy armor and Berserker class. Needle also has +10 legendary status, while Oathkeeper only has +5. So it makes sense why Needle can parry Oathkeeper, not sure what the problem is.

Thomas Strunk

Don't want to add to the lame debby downers... but take note of the references to old seasons, the reused lines for fan service, and the toilet humor (dick/poop/whatever else) jokes. I hope you guys love the last 2 seasons, but it's partly why it's bad for me.

Paul Durbin

Dang Cannon why you gotta hit me with the Mike Tomlin.

Thomas Strunk

I assume someone else said it: but this episode actually marked the Guinness Book of World Records for most people on fire at once for a movie/TV show at 20.

DeeJayyy

Carter is king nitpicker

Goat

I don't hate the fact that they made Arya uber-fucking-strong, I just hate the fact that she now transformed from a girl who went through so much trauma and loss to a smug cringy mary sue? Really?? I hate this hollywood trope of making female characters some cookie cutter badasses with no emotion, depth or personality. my girl Arya didn't deserve this 😭 god this season is so hard to rewatch

Blackeyedlily

You might notice that a big difference in the dragon riding between GOT and HOtD is that Daenerys doesn’t have a saddle. Where the GOT story left off in the books, Daenerys has just started to ride Drogon. He had picked her up and flown off with her from the fighting arena. She also had not yet met Tyrion, who has just made his way to Slaver’s Bay. Tyrion is also portrayed in the books as one of the few people who has studied the rare books that discuss dragons. So if we do get the next book in the series, it is widely believed that Tyrion will help Daenerys learn how to control her dragons better, and that he will probably devise a saddle for her, in a call back to his devising a saddle for Bran. Seeing Tyrion watch Daenerys on dragon back during this skirmish made me think about this detail. As many people often complained about how difficult it would be for Daenerys to ride Drogon by simply clinging to his back. I agree with you guys about Bronn having huge plot armor in the show. His story in the books is quite different. He isn’t Jamie’s constant sidekick in the books. in fact, he doesn’t play that role at all. But he does have an intriguing side story in the books which does have its impact on King’s Landing and Cersei’s story.

OMG I need episode 5 like I need oxygen to breathe 😮‍💨

Amna

Some of you need to go outside and touch some grass bc some of the comments regarding Carter's reaction were soooooo weird🙃🙃

Nat Brojeni

Carter seems so sad and quiet! It’s rushed yes but still amazing things are happening. So don’t be sad we still like to hear your opinions. :)

The black Utah

Danerys wasn’t burning the food guys she was burning the gold lol😭😭

lola

Idk y’all need to let people actively grieve the show… Carter and the rest of the guys are allowed to feel a type of way with how poorly the last seasons were handled. As I watched S7, one of my biggest gripes (which transferred over to S8) was the pacing. Not to mention the dialogue. We all went through it, and at the end of the day I think the fact that the guys get so many people commenting on a day to day basis on their reactions specifically for this show, shows how much of an impact GOT had on our generation and pop culture in general. It’s still a fan favorite for A LOT of us. I hated the ending but I still love the show to this day. It’s a conundrum and I’m sure by the end of this the guys will also feel the same way.

Rawdota

can yall put press play and witness peak on a shirt??

studiogek

Sorry guys I am reuploading the video I uploaded the wrong edit

A.G

The cavalry charging into a solid wall of spears and shields is crazy....

Ayaulym🇰🇿

The dialogue between Arya and Sansa is the worst thing I've heard in this show (if we obv exclude season 8). It is not just awkward, it's plainly stupid. I know fanfic writers who could've done a better job

Griffin

I applaud the rewatch boys for giving nothing away this episode. I could not straightface so well.

Niffol

In the books the only instance of scorpion bolts being effective against dragons is meraxes, aegont eh conquerors sister wife's dragon. And the bolt hit the dragon in the eye and it fell to the earth.

Niffol

Carter don't worry you have the correct take on arya v brienne.

Ash Hale

Only G.O.T. can make us love seeing people getting burned alive. 😂

Zipzzty

7:20 Bran got all the quotes

aqualuvrgirl

tyrion has so much judgement for dany fighting back against the lannisters but I mean its just like he had to burn stannis and davos' fleet during blackwater bay to save his own skin. you dont see davos holding him accountable for killing his sons

Xinoko

2 years late but wish someone explained to them that they dont burn the entire fleets because they want to keep the ships after winning
