The rat ceo guy is extremely frustrating to watch but he's such an important character because he's a bit of a reflection of the main character who also believes in saving your own ass, which is what he tells his daughter to do in the beginning and to not help others. It let's him see himself from the outside and what it looks like when you're selfish like that and it's so important for his character arc. You can see the moment of realisation on his face when rat guy refuses to let their group into their car

Oh and also I think rat guy is purposefully cast a bit older and he's way worse morally than the mc because the longer you live that way, the worse you get. You alienate everyone around you and become bitter and resentful until you only have yourself to care about. Could've been the main characters future if he had kept living the way he did in the beginning

If you’re gonna continue with Korean movies I would suggest watching Bong Joon Ho. He’s the guy who directed Parasite. His movie Memories of Murder is incredible. It’s a murder mystery with the same vibe as something like Zodiac. One of the craziest movie endings I’ve ever seen

I love this analysis!!! I also believe the MC spending time with the wrestler husband of the pregnant lady also allowed him to see a version of a man who protects his wife but also isn’t completely selfish. I especially love the scene where the husband told the MC it’s okay to make sacrifices as a father and to take shit for it - but that you can still be a good man.

I think I relate to Cannon when he said he was caught up with the frustration of people dying during his first watch. I watched this years ago and I wouldn't have described it as an emotional movie then. This is my second watch with the geks and the genre totally flipped for me. i was a sobbing mess at the end 😭

Lots of good messages about society which is common in top Korean movies. Like the old CEO has no problem sacrificing others to propel him and even gets the common people to turn on each other. The pregnant lady didn't judge the homeless guy and saved him at the start of the movie and in the end he sacrifices himself to save her.

Recommend “The Chronicles of Evil” for the next Korean movie - extremely lots of plot twists towards the end 🤯 For Korean dramas, recommend “The Glory” and “Itaewon Class” - both have great revenge stories. “Sweet Home” season 1 is really good you guys would love the excitement, the scenes and the emotions driven, but I have to say season 2 fell off significantly so I wouldn’t recommend s2.

Marketed like a horror thriller, and turns out to be a great film about love and humanity. To see not only our main character change, but also how his change effects his daughter's view of him. She wanted to not be with him and recognized he was a "bloodsucker" at the start. To see her actually care and ask him "not to go" at the end, and how that just breaks him, is soo heartbreaking. Also liked the touch of him washing his bloody hands after talking with Kim about how they were apart of this outbreak (in a way). He then for the first time felt what his actions has consequences.

There’s two other movies related to Train to Busan. Seoul Station is animated prequel of the night of the zombie epidemic. I watched it once and really liked it. Peninsula is a standalone sequel. Still haven’t seen, don’t know if it’s worth it. There might be an American remake in pre-production coming soon and hopefully an actual Korean sequel to the movie in the making.

I know it gets frustrating when you see people not being common sense survivalists- trust me I was! However, this was a very realistic & tragic way to show true reflexive fight, flight, & freeze responses. This was not just another entertaining "zombie movie." This had soooo much heart- seeing the beauty and ugliness of human nature. Soo much to admire and learn from. Heartbreaking that it took a zombie outbreak for the dad to learn compassion & selflessness- but at least he died a better man & his daughter got to witness some of his rare acts of kindness.

You guys seriously need to get into more Kdrama. I mean Squid Games is amazing but there’s so much better series out there in every aspect. Like ‘The Glory’ for example is a must watch, it really is a fantastic drama with top tier characters/actors and plot. Another one is ‘It’s Okay not to be Okay’, also on Netflix and just has fantastic storytelling on a deeper level with amazing acting once again

i sobbed so hard the first time i saw this movie. The little girl gets me everytime. at least she got to see her dad be a hero in the end. Korean films are so incredible and the acting is always top notch. Carter is exactly right, this is so much more than a zombie movie. And judging from his reaction this really was a movie he needed to see, so im glad it was chosen from the recs 🥹

defs worth watching! S Korea imo is one of the best countries in the world at producing intense, deep thriller series and movies. I watched Hwayi: A Monster Boy back in 2017, I was 18 at the time. It low key stuck with me as the boy was close to my age and I super empathised with him ( not to say I went through what he did lol) and I realised there must have been more SK thrillers like this. Coinlocker girl was another one I watched early on, which has the actress Kim Go Eun among a crazy line up of cast, that was also another impactful film. Lol apologies for the rant ^_^

The Glory is one of the best new Kdrama’s in recent years that won major awards in SK for a reason. Yes, it will be something new for the guys obviously on the channel cause they haven’t really dived into too many thriller- dramas or heavily focused revenge stories with a lot of brutal/triggering scenes yet, but it’ll be worth it to see their reactions and I know that they’ll be hooked. It just has that type of story where you won’t be able to stop half way through, cause it never falls off once it gets going
