To answer Carter's question about where we are at compared to the comics... That's a tricky question to answer. The show has kinda gone over 30% of whats in the comics. However, the comics and show are kinda their own things. They are about 80% the same when it comes to the content but they're structured way differently. Omniman killing the Guardians in episode 1 doesn't occur until issue #8; and the guardians don't even put up a good fight in the comics. They've moved plot points around so it's a little refreshing to see what they changed for better (Rex and giving Titan a family) and for worse (season 1 Amber).

Scene with Cecil talking to Debbie about Oliver getting his powers in episode 1 is at almost exactly the 33% mark of the story. (It's like the first chapter of the 2nd Compendium out of 3). I think I've seen online that they expect like 8 seasons total.

Don't get me wrong, he is a goated character. Probably in my top 3. But his ideology is basically an "ends justify the means" which is always instinctual, but easy to reach the point where you are putting chips in peoples heads.

and expecting someone to be jailed for life is not out of the ordinary. Cops arent expected to kill anyone they come across and Mark shouldnt be expected to kill either. He neutralized the threat and left it to Cecil to imprison Sinclair and instead Cecil let him continue to make his weird robots

I mean, Cecil is 100% justified in the show. Apparently its less black and white in the comics, but in the show he is just objectively in the right. Mark breaks into the pentagon, threatens Cecil multiple times, demands that he stops...utilizing the talents of criminals...who are still actively in prison? For some reason? I'm still at a loss for what Mark's issue with this is. Then he starts destroying the reanimen when they try to stop him from attacking Cecil, and then just outright starts threatening Cecil's life. Its not like the reanimen are a moral issue. They're donated corpse robots. They're gross, sure, but the bodies were given consensually and are basically just a framework for a robot. And they are INCREDIBLY effective. They are easily a more powerful force then Mark is at this moment, and they are far more expendable since they aren't actually alive and can be mass produced/replaced. I can kind of understand that he doesn't trust Darkwing, but for god sake Darkwing just saved his life and the ENTIRE WORLD. Mark got low-diffed by Doc Seismic and they ONLY survived because of Darkwing and the Reanimen showing up.

Finished the reaction, I gotta say you guys are in the minority on the Cecil thing. Also to address Mark being a bum when it came to the centipedes. The show is pretty inconsistent to how durable and strong Mark is. I guess it's just the shows way to lengthen the action.

I mean, it really just depends on your priorities. Cecil is more logical and sees these criminals as tools that can be used for the betterment of humanity. Cecil just kept Darkwing II and Sinclair in prison, they'd probably all have died to Seismic's scheme lol. It's not like Darkwing II or Sinclair can just freely do whatever they want either; they still have to follow Cecil's orders. Mark has this very black-and-white, childish view of crime and punishment.

There is no team Mark without Cecil lol. Not everything Cecil does is good or can be justified (obviously), but using prior criminals as a force for good should not be a controversial thing lol.

I was thinking, why didnt the GDA save those 17 people? Cecil got the brunt of the gas and survived, why were the GDA not able to save the civilians? They even fixed the villains, and they got more of the gas than everyone combined. I guess the GDA doesnt care if you dont give them value

I got annoyed having to watch Mark on screen because of how narrow-minded and stubborn he was being. As for his fighting ability, it's inconsistent, but I think a lot of that has to do with his emotional state (and writing).

You can see how Mark wouldnt be very happy being treated the same way and being basically a prisoner to Cecil. It doesnt matter what people think objectively is better for humanity when it all comes down to Cecil's decision and leaving that much power in one persons hand is recipe for abuse and at the very least its broken the trust Mark thought he had established with him which clearly isnt in humanitys interests. I see both sides to Cecil vs mark. Like Cecil has been asking mark and Debbie to trust him and then turns around and uses people he KNOWS mark is going to have a problem with and implants a thing in his head without saying anything. I also see why Cecil did it tho mark is still a teen and With all he can do and after what happened with Nolan he’d be stupid not to make contingencies. The implant is kinda crazy tho. They’re both right and wrong

Nah whats crazy is comparing Mark and Sinclair's situations. Mark is free to stop working for Cecil whenever he feels like. He also gets to go home at the end of the day and live his life. Sinclair is presumably kept in a prison cell when he's not working on making soldiers that defend the planet (the show doesn't really give that bit of context. If Sinclair is walking free, then Mark might be more justified. But he's as clueless as the audience so his reasoning would still be wrong). Acting like Mark is being treated horribly is crazy. Mark straight up left the planet to go help a random insect species across the galaxy, leaving humanity in danger...and Cecil just passively complained about it. He didn't "bring down a hammer" lmao. He's never truly punished Mark for anything.

Cecil essentially hired serial killers there’s no other way to put it and objectively thats messed up his anger is justified, He then implies Mark killing Angstrom (who was a direct threat to him and his family, injuring and nearly killing his mom) is remotely similar to Darkwing or Sinclair. This is another thing that caused mark’s anger to escalate because it's just a completely terrible comparison of the situations. While I understand the concept of having some kind of defense against the possibility of mark going down the same route his dad did, the way he did it was terrible he breached trust on multiple stances, the whole thing w dark wing and the bots and doing it behind his back when mark was kind of directly involved in both cases and in ways had his life or people he loves threatened that would upset anybody and even though cecil was calm when speaking he was also extremely dismissive and at first just kept telling mark to leave and he doesnt need to involve himself, while mark might’ve technically broken into the pentagon in this instance its being said as though him just being there is outlandish when its not he’s there very regularly. Cecil knows extremely well and so does everyone else mark had absolutely no intentions on killing Cecil he has proven this time and time again if he wanted to it would’ve been the first thing he did no questions asked and then brought out those bots to try and intimidate mark, and putting the thing in his head and the whole “proving why he needed to” isnt justified bc none of this would’ve happened in the first place if cecil would’ve at least attempted to have a sit down with mark way beforehand. and mark proved his loyalty when he almost died at the hands of his dad at the end of season 1 saying he would rather die than do what he was trying to, and cecil was training him to be stronger to have a chance at defending themselves against any possible viltrumite that might come now he completely broke their relationship and trust with the way he did things its not what he did and honestly its bc cecil let his fear and paranoia of possibilities and unknown control how he makes his decisions

He literally gave him full permission to leave and go home even after he destroyed millions of dollars worth of government property. You know when he used the ear piece? When Mark straight up said "Nah I'm making threats now" and lunged at Cecil. He used that shit in FEAR of his LIFE. Of course he's gonna start pursuing him at that point. Mark has shown that he's actively crashing out and willing to use violence to get what he wants, and he now knows about the ONLY failsafe that they have against him. Is Cecil supposed to let him just go and take the ear piece out and start plotting revenge? Honestly he shouldn't have been a "free man" the moment he broke into the pentagon. Cecil gave him all the grace and leeway in the world lmao. He only started treating him like a criminal when he defied all reason and started to threaten Cecil's life. And lets not forgot that like 2 episodes later when Mark broke into the pentagon AGAIN, Cecil used the sound against him to stun him...and then reasoned with him and told him to leave? If he was evil or had it out for Mark he could've captured him right there?? But he didn't. He stunned him, told him to fuck off, and then let him leave.

after ep 1: yeah i dont get it either, seems like they just dont like doc seismic (his design) so to see him come back really strong, with a plan hes been creating for months, and not get mopped up by a freshly trained Mark just triggered them. I really like that evil characters in this show arent all just throw away chumps that never come back up in a meaningful way and i liked seeing mark training but not just suddenly flying thru every enemy that shows up like omni man could/would. And then the rest of the episode seems pretty important and pivotal for marks maturity and psyche going forward for what looks like a major conflict point for this season (being the philosophy of what mark thinks is morally just and right vs what ceicil/others think)

god forgives but i don't. i see Cecile's side but I'm with Mark - cecile let mark think that he trusts him. Then he accused him of threatening him when he wasn't doing anything ( basically gaslighting him) . then he corners him, tortures him with a device in his head, assaults him with those robots when mark says he doesn't want to go back to HQ saying "i am not asking" and then insults him saying he is a hypocrite who sided with his massmurdering dad as if mark didn't already beat himself down hard already about what kind of father he had. who's actually the hypocrite here you son of.
