Ryker

legendary early drop

Ryker

guys thats how lobsters swim they propel themselves backwards

ace

we have been blessed with an early drop oh my

Marcus D

Appreciate the early drop 🙏

Marcus D

Oda recycles but it’s fresh 😎

wanira 11

Thanks for the early drop guys! :)

Jack

Wow lol, didn’t even know that

Luke

Blessed

Marcus D

“I never thought of sailing or going ashore as an adventure”. Robin….

Marcus D

Zoro is just giving robin attention out of intrigue like he would for anyone else. Imo anyway. Romance isn’t a thing between the strawhats, as oda said he doesn’t want it.

Zipzzty

FR W EARLY BLESSING

Zipzzty

THANKS GEKS

Zipzzty

Love early drops

Zipzzty

Early peak

saDbo

I think Oda liked to pair them up because, at this point, Zoro still doesn’t trust her, and unlike the others, she never really managed to win him over. That's why they needed some extra bonding time in Jaya & Skypiea.

Marcus D

The captain of the White Berets has the same VA as Igarahm. He actually voices almost 10 named one piece characters lol. A couple of big ones too yet to come.

Ikky

I'll save these reactions up for a few months 😁

Amare D.

rewatching and I feel that freshness y'all yap about

Nash

GOOD JOB JACK 🗣️🔥

Fatima

they will show stuff in skypiea where you dont even realise that its part of the lore until couple hundrets of eps later

Touchmi

Rainbow road is my favorite map.

Toska Water

Little Garden and Skypiea are the foreshadowing arcs, in my opinion, but you don't notice the foreshadows until you catch up with the anime and watch the arcs again.

Touchmi

Im so glad One Pace kept the fruit dropped on Ussop's head. Pre time skip One Piece is just comedy.

Dasha

omg I googled who else did he voice and this is crazyyy

Dasha

actualy one of the big ones is already here, they just don't realize it's a big one yet haha

Dasha

when do we get to see the real slim shady?? I can't calculate with one pace sorry

Nashi

Guys, One Piece arcs are long, sometimes it takes like 5-10 episodes just for an introduction to the arc, this is nothing of Skypea yet, the plot hasn't even been introduced

saDbo

Yeah, Skypiea definitely starts off slow, but give it time—there's a lot of great worldbuilding, fun moments, and the story with Noland ties in nicely.

saDbo

I think it's episode 167

saDbo

Also my goat Wyper is here 👀

Toska Water

You guys were able to avoid all of the Usopp filler because of One Pace. You'll get answers about devil fruits at some stage in the anime.

Marcus D

I had the same reaction when I first looked them up haha. And yeah, one of the two is here, just didn’t want to say the name obviously, one of the boys will pick it up eventually.

Marcus D

Probably one of the longest waits for ‘that sort’ of character in a one piece arc

Marcos

Skypiea is like a setup for lore that will all tie in the future since your comment is correct that everything shown so far is new like dials and people with wings. Let me know if this comment is hindsight merchant and I will take down.

Marcos

☀️✝️

Marcos

Hahaha my boy marshall mathers is gonna go 8 mile on them hahahahah

Cade

early OP UPLOAD? life is good

Mr. John Kagurabachi

Yall gotta watch Laputa: Castle in the sky during the Skypiea arc

Dasha

I figured it's gonna be next thursday if they watch 2 one pace episodes per drop. One pace feels nice so far

Mahti

Thanks for the early drop, the plot will start plotting later on

Diable Jambe Flores

Appreciate the early drop. This was a very awesome and welcome surprise.

Touchmi

I think this is my favorite nami outfit.

Cade

"hey usopp i got a fruit for you!" *proceeds to drop bowling bowl like fruit on his headXD

Ante

One Pace was so needed here lmao. The show works perfectly fine without the 10 extra Usopp jokes imo.

Touchmi

Besides we already know who Robin's Husbando would be if there was romance in this.

Marcus D

Hot take imo. Especially since she has the most fit changes. Does look nice though

shlumlord

Understandable boys no worries. I am so excited

Mitch

Yea I was worried they would skip that, one of my fav jokes from early op

Aokiji Piece🧊

I can confirm to you Geks that there is only one episode left in Skypeia that needs to be finished in One Pace, which is episode 24. I was in the One Pace discord, and they confirmed that they only have episode 24 left, and then they are finished with the arc. They'll likely be done with that episode before you guys get there. So that's good news.

Mitch

Good call Jack for recognizing him

Cisvo

what about MOB ? :/

Keanu

I really wish you guys would bring ranking favourite characters back into your end of season/ end of arc discussions. I'm really interested to hear all your thoughts on the characters as I'm sure your favourites will change over time

Touchmi

I like it simple what can I say. Though her outfits in the next saga are definitely in my top 3.

Keanu

Or even maybe a run through on how each of you rank the straw hats from top to bottom, like I said, really interested to hear what characters you guys are enjoying and vice versa!

1999

When you use fireball jutsu too many times

ROSS

bro got the ghally

DonDuh103

Thank yall for the OP drop. With how some people act in the comments we didn't deserve the OP ep, but I thank yall again love yall knowing how much work and care you put in the reactions! Always having to feel like your being attacked by the commenters from expressing the way you feel must suck so I appreciate the care!

Niko

its still so early man give the boys some time lmaooo

JojoJack

Are they gonna include that beginning scene in episode 225? It’s no where in the one pace of LRLL.

Aokiji Piece🧊

@Zannen Da They said that episode 24 will not include that scene, but a re-release of episode 1 in LRLL will include the scene that you’re talking about.

N P

One Pace has been being pretty good so far, this feels like it's going by at a pretty good pace without many obvious cuts. I really do think this was the right choice. Thanks for the early drop!

Mr. John Kagurabachi

Lobsters swim “backwards” in real life. Smh McKay has no crustacean ball knowledge 🫤

ssj4rit

Crazy how the original anime is so poorly made the fans had to fix it 😬 Well the remake will be fire at least

saDbo

The strawhats be broke as hell

DonDuh103

The One Pace is pretty fire at least!

Ryker

yeah im not sure jack will even pick up on some of it

adabooo

agreed, arc and characters rankings would be amazingggg with these longer shows

Mahti

so well done I'm impressed, If this is the standard I would like One Pace used for every arc. The main problem I have with the anime is the pacing (also Ussops VA) and so far One Pace has made it far better without any real drawbacks

N P

Well let's not get ahead of ourselves now, using it for every arc would be a bit much. I think some people still remember when it cut out that moment with Nami speaking to Bellmere's spirit at the end of Arlong Park, who knows what other sort of moments that are not manga canon yet still add to the show could still be cut out. I think it's fine to use it for the tough arcs like this, long ring long land, thriller bark and maybe dressrosa. But let's not pretend like most of One Piece isn't perfectly watchable.

Ryker

i dont think they should use it for the next major arc or the rest of pre timeskip since certain episodes are already directed perfectly but one pace is a must for post timeskip

Ryker

ive saw other comments say this aswell but id really love if you guys did character/arc/moment rankings more often and also just thoughts on the show in general

Ryker

ESPECIALLY after alabasta since that seems to be in some hot water among some of the geks (possibly directed at carter)

Mr. John Kagurabachi

If JJK had their own version of One Pace you wouldn’t get animated sequences like sukuna vs Mahoraga and etc. For better and worse, It’s quite literally a 1-1 cut from the Manga.

Mr. John Kagurabachi

One Pace has cut out so many amazing fighting animations and emotional scenes. But also repetitive and unneeded stills. Each their own.

Amare D.

SUUUUU, is he Renaldo is funny

Ajax

Prophecy dungeon mentioned !!! Did you guys have a chance to try the new dungeon it's really good

Nami Swannn

btw something that got lost in translation; the way skypiean's greet each other, "Heso", means bellybutton in Japanese which is why they kept reacting weirdly to it

Mahti

I don't think it's really needed all the time but personally think it's still a improvement. W7 does not need it but EL has endless repeating flashbacks and bad pacing that I got really frustrated with

Nami Swannn

I will say Brigg is right in the sense that Skypiea does feel like a very isolated arc. I've always said it but this arc alone could work as a stand alone 60 episode anime series. Ofc there will be stuff that ties in as you watch more episodes (and hindsight of it is CRAZY), but for the most part it feels like pit stop in the story where they've taken a detour on random island to go exploring just for the love of adventure. I still love the arc (one of my personal favs) and hope you guys will enjoy it as well!

Murasaki

I think Jack hasn’t finished Wano yet? Ngl I hope he can catch up to latest and then whenever other guys ask any questions Jack could act cool like ‘y’all will see 😎’ lol

Murasaki

Your pfp is so cool!

Murasaki

@Touchmi ?? Who? TL?

Yugi

Skypiea is one of the most „One Piece“ arcs. As a child i really felt the magic in this world

LeBron Glazer (Bronsexual)

It’s definitely needed for EL imo. It’s a great arc but the pacing is still pretty bad imo

Yugi

I would like to ask the community what you think of One Pace so far? I don't know why but I think One Pace takes a little bit the magic out of OG One Piece. I know the pacing is slow but it's the "unnecessary scenes" that made me love the show and the individual characters. Or am I just a nostalgia merchant ? 😂

Ryker

one pace has literally cut out nothing of any significance so far i believe

Cannon Andrus

Skypiyea has been absolutely fire so far honestly

Cannon Andrus

We watched some today and it was so good

Juicy D. jaloomba

Let’s gooooooo 🔥 I can’t believe I got a reply from cannon 🙌

Matt Haloostock

Skypiea feeling like a side quest is kind of valid, and Carter brings up a really good point about how there hasn't been much in terms of story to push the narrative of the arc at the moment. The mystery gets set up really well in Jaya with not even knowing if the Sky Island is real. The crew made it safely and proved it exists, at least for themselves, but now what? This arc as a whole is good but I think it can definitely feel a bit disjointed.

ahmad

One Pace is very well made and I think the boys would enjoy it over the original in every arc

Kae D. en

When people say skypiea has a lot of lore it's in the same way the first few seasons of aot have lore. On a first watch most of the foreshadowing will be lost on you, but the arc truly is packed with symbolism and details that are extremely relevant MUCH later into the story. All this to say, don't expect bomb shell peak lore drops lol (yet)

Stanley Snyder

Skypeia arc is definitely one of my comfort arc. Its enjoyable 😊

Pace

The original anime made this arc so boring for me, & when i read the manga I realised how much closer one pace is to the original source material. I hate how they dilute the story with drag in the original weekly anime

EmlovesOP

oda actually didn't intend for one piece to last this long so skypeia holds a lot of significance for sure. and luffy being mad that nami can ride the dail always makes me laugh

JojoJack

They remove that one scene with Nami on the waver and tone dial and establish her first reaction to dials. They also remove some gags, like Usopp not trying to get more fined by the White Berets, so he just sleeps on the ground and still gets fined.

JojoJack

Don’t wanna sound a oldhead here but fan-subs used to include translation notes on screen for the words that are used in puns or play on words in japanese. I thought One Pace would do that since its run by fans.

Mr. John Kagurabachi

That’s actually so cool to hear! This is definitely one of those arcs where it does a lot of good and not much harm.

Mr. John Kagurabachi

I do feel like it loses the “magic” of one piece tbh. It’s like using spark notes for Shakespeare instead of reading it. Highschool life saver 🫡

Mahti

very positive feelings about it so far, better than expected

Mr. John Kagurabachi

“One Pace makes you lose the “magic” of the show?” HAHAHHA good one. Actual online Stockholm syndrome forcing me to watch 30000 hours of Ussop picking his nose while Sanji sexually harasses Nami for the 20th time. Absolutely Cinema

Harrison Hird

wyper is genuinely one of the most underrated characters in the series, such a goat

Pace

OP verse is huge so every time the world expands it can take a while to digest everything happening since the foundations are just being layed out for re-contexualisation later on. These moments of adventure have their purpose too - especially as they provide a stark contrast to dark themes & situations that may later come as things get more serious or dire. You are still in early one piece (comfort territory) - cant wait to get to the PEAK piece! But Peak moments in OP go hard because Oda took his time to delicately craft & build up the story, laying the foundations that lead to the most EPIC payoffs down the line. - also many pieces of lore in this arc will be invisible to you until context privided from future arcs - which is why on rewatch this arc hits fans really hard. - Many who call this arc lore piece only disovered it was full of lore after context from later arcs.

Mr. John Kagurabachi

I think doing one after every saga would be so cool. It’s DEFINITELY needed for some certain arcs.

Nami Swannn

nah dw that's the only reason I remember its translation as well 😂 I don't even think it's a One Pace issue, I find that translations in the last few years haven't been subbing the puns/play on words

Pace

wihtout one pace this arc will be so unwatchably slow for them.

Mahti

Pretty sure the boys would enjoy the series way more with the One Pace pacing plus we get way more progression in the story in trade for losing a handful of decent Toei added moments.

Mr. John Kagurabachi

But They’ll miss the anime only scene where Zoro kisses Sanji on the lips with tongue.

Destiny Samuel

Being an OP and Mov fan makes Tuesdays and Thursday so fun. Now I’m just patiently waiting for the Mob ep to drop 🧎🏾‍♀️

Marcus D

^ okay bro….

Mr. John Kagurabachi

These comments tryna stop the geks from watching PEAK. I won’t let them 😡💪

Marcus D

One pace does have translator notes later on

Mahti

I think that people who started off with anime just have strong feelings for the anime only scenes because that's how they experienced the story. As a manga reader first there is no "magic" lost here, in contrary the show flows much better and is more faithful to Odas writing

Mr. John Kagurabachi

“Don’t watch the movies, g7, or fan letter bc it’s not part of the manga. No magic loss” That’s the type of mentality that I hella disagree with. If they changed Luffy’s VA, would you say it wouldn’t change the “magic” of One Piece? The whole story of the manga is still there. Differentiating manga and anime experiences is an L opinion IMO.

Mr. John Kagurabachi

The walk from arlong park is an anime only scene btw! Nami saying goodbye to her mother was cut! One pace is fine and even amazing for certain arcs but seeing yall want them on it 24/7 is CRAZYYY.

Nick K

One Piece teaching viewers one person at a time that lobsters swim backwards

Guy

The arlong park walk IS in the one pace cut though. My first watch of One Piece was with One Pace and that was there on my first go through. They don't match the manga 100%, but they'll still include important/humorous anime original moments. Although, it's still up to their discretion which ones they end up actually keeping (like Nami's mom)

KrispyKenny

People have already suggested this but character rankings at the end of these arcs hit hard. Please do a most hated character as well. I also want to hear each of you make a 5-man crew of your own from characters outside of the Straw Hats, and pick a captain too!

Nami Swannn

oh cool! I guess it might've just missed this one then

Tom

I disagree, the small issues or disappointments in One Pace are dwarfed by all the issues and frustrations in the OG, as far as I'm concerned it's just a straight improvement and that only increasingly is the case the further into the series you get.

Marcus D

Just wanted to point out that in the reaction of ep150/151 @39:31, Blackbeard actually says Haki here and is the first to ever do so! It was translated as “ambitious spirit” and done so because the translator probably wasn’t aware yet of the significance the word would have in the series. Haki can be roughly translated as Spirit or Will. Also the scene of Blackbeard picking up Luffy’s Bounty poster, there was a bit of a translator’s misinterpretation; Blackbeard actually expected luffy’s bounty to be higher than 30mil, mentioning the level of haki he felt from luffy as the reason. That’s why back at the bar he called luffy a liar for saying his bounty was 30mil, but as Blackbeard said in current ep151 scene, he was surprised just how high it actually was.

Marcus D

This was a repost from the original reaction but it got buried very quickly due to the spoiling stuff. These moments have important implications imo so I thought it was worth trying to get the Geks to see this while the scenes are still somewhat fresh in their minds.

Icchi

Terrible take. Oda’s involvement in the anime, while still minuscule, is way larger than people give credit. This is during a time when Uda was the director, they were best friends, and would often discuss the anime over dinner. He explained all this in an sbs and interview, while also mentioning that the directors of the anime understand the story so well, that they have his full trust. Oda also watches every Saturday just like us and LOVES the anime, always has. The amount of moments that’ve been made better in the anime is incalculable atp… the anime only enhances. Even if you mention early gore scenes being changed, it’s nothing compared to valid changes.

cozo

that's actually crazy

cozo

yo wsg w ur profile bruh 😭

JayCnY

love seeing people mald over this one pace vs original. dying on either of these hills is wild.

Zipzzty

Use One Pace For This and the next arc then Normal for the 2 after

Mauricio.

Peak piece as usual!

ahmad

WCI is mine

Nic ☦︎

Skypiea does indeed have lore but they wont explain any of it in this arc and you wont likely even know when they do drop those lore bits in there, its only possible to pick up on the lore and foreshadowing stuff later and i mean WAY later on when you actually reach those arcs that tie back to skypiea.

Marcus D

Which one? there’s like 3😂. Mine is probably thriller bark

Mitch

One pace for skypiea and Ring LL then normal op for rest of pre ts. Seems pretty valid for me. Post ts is a whole other animal but that won’t be for a couple years

Guy

I agree with all y'all for the Gek's first time experience (and especially for those who may have been enjoying it as much) skipping through some of the nonsense will be essential for keeping them engaged

CoLdBITeR

I like skypiea arc, but I always found it over stayed its welcome. I would usually be wishing we were moving onto the next area, everytime i was around halfway through skypiea, Imo. Though maybe with one pace it might make it less of a grind.

Zu

Mob when

Grenadoxy

Curious if the Geks will check out Daredevil; Born Again

Marcus D

After LRLL they shouldn’t use one pace again until FMI

Marcus D

It does have lore you can understand during and by the end of the arc but a lot of the lore people praise is stuff they won’t understand until much later yes

HeavenlyR

Are people forgetting EL? It has way worse pacing than Skypiea. At one point mid episode they straight up replay 5 minutes from a backstory we saw 10 eps earlier. One Pace saves 80 mins for Skypiea and 439 for EL

Bob Loblaw

Bout to break my refresh record tonight

Kibutsuji

They should watch DareDevil OG first, since Born Again is out soon, which I'm hearing is a continuation?

Rhettoric

Good world-building in these episodes. Carter nailed it at the end of the outro. Most of the lore in Skypiea won't even go recognized until wayyyyy down the line, but that makes the payoff all the more sweeter. Also, the theme music McKay mentioned was interesting is actually Nami's theme, which fits well since it plays while she is out on the waver because of her weather/currents knowledge. Lastly, I agree with Cannon about missing the eyecatchers in the middle of the episodes. One Pace will come in handy for this arc and the next arc though and then they'll be back!

forthwanderer

I would try and look at what oda is tryna say like on a thematic level in this arc more than anything

SuperChuckABoo

"DEVIL FRUIT!?" "My mom says I can't watch this show anymore" LMFAO. It's been so long since I've watched Skypeia, I forgot about all the imaginative stuff in this arc. It's wild

Marcus D

Jack has been pretty good with the voices

Amare D.

and jake the devil fruit user has to be fully submerged in water to be weakened maybe not fully but up to the neck so if it rains it won't make him weak Rember when he fought smoker

Amare D.

jake lol and crew

Marcus D

They cut out manga canon scenes in the Toei remaster and butchered some goated scenes so nah, they shouldn’t watch the Toei remaster for their first FMI watch through

ahmad

Damn I didn't know that.. seems like a massive blunder from Toei. One Pace it is then..

Marcus D

Now you guys are being picky. The amount of manga content Toei adapts per episode is the same until like after thriller bark. You guys are just suggesting certain arcs for one pace because some content seems to be less interesting to you than others. Up until the post time skip, if you’re going off manga pacing the version you watch should stay the same the whole time, one pace or one piece, not switching between both. I personally think regular one piece is the way to go.

Marcus D

Yeah I was pretty disappointed when I found out. I was ready to recommended it to new watchers. Yeah @Marine piece it’s true, I’m sure you can find threads about it on reddit or twitter. Toei already cut out some manga moments in their original FMI adaption so it’s sad to see they cut even more lol.

Aokiji Piece🧊

@Marcus Yeah, I found threads on Reddit that talked about it and that it’s true. So One Pace is a must-watch for FMI. It's crazy that the original even cut out manga content; that’s insane. Toei just disappoints me more man.

Marcus D

Toei has had a lot of misses but they’ve had a lot of successes too. They deserve some flowers. And oops didn’t realise this would be its own thread after commenting on a deleted comment, my bad.

Aokiji Piece🧊

Yeah, Toei has also done some good work in multiple arcs of the anime. They're not entirely bad. Even now, the arc that the anime is currently at is on a six-month break until April to fix pacing and animation in the coming episodes. Hopefully, they don’t screw that up, but I do believe it will turn out good.

Marcus D

Brig, hentai just outright means pervert. The white berets were doing a crawl that’s synonymous with looking under girls skirts iirc lol, so that’s why they were called that. Calling someone a weirdo would be more like ‘hen na yatsu’(weird guy). One pace just chose weirdo for whatever reason. Any fluent jp speakers feel free to correct me.

HeavenlyR

Imo the people who suggested Skypiea/LRLL for One Pace are the ones suggesting based on content/interest not the actual pacing/filler. I've always said EL should be where they start using One Pace if they were to use it. EL will have the 2nd lowest chapters adapted per episode so far other than Loguetown which I don't really even count with how short it is. And I don't think they do a good job of covering up the low amount of chapters they cover like they do in some later arcs that cover even less

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

Lmao. Carter would not be worried about some ominous name like "devil fruit" if he saw the dollar dollar fruit. He would eat it as soon as he sees it.

Marcus D

I don’t think it’s fair to say they are bad at all haha, but alas yeah I’m looking forward to the return but this break would not have improved the pacing at all. All it did was increase the anime to manga gap by like 20 chapters, not enough to increase the pacing of 1 chapter per ep to 2cht per ep, unless they decide to take a break every year now.

Mahti

@Marcus it can't about being picky with EL since most people agree it's one of the better arcs in the show. Bad pacing is just bad

Aokiji Piece🧊

Well, that can’t be true because they stated that they are going to improve the pacing and the animation. So if they say that, they have to adapt more than one chapter per episode, at least 1.5. Otherwise, there isn’t any benefit to the break. Every episode perhaps not, but some of them will adapt more than one chapter I believe.

Isaiah

My first time watching with one pace and ive loved it these last few eps. Its been awhile since ive seen skypiea but the one pace eps make the beginning a lot less painless than I remember

Marcus D

They never said they were going to improve the pacing or animation. That was just fan social media accounts making speculation, it seems logical but when you think about all the details, the pacing can’t improve with the current parameters Toei has. The only thing Toei said about the main anime is that it was going on break and for how long.

Dasha

One pace subs are weird, translating respectful “Nami san” to “Nami my sweet” makes 0 sense 😅

Aokiji Piece🧊

That seems weird. People like PewPiece, who is very accurate and reliable with his stuff, said that it would get cleaner animation and better pacing. But of course, if Toei themselves haven’t said it, then there’s a chance it’s not going to happen. But then they just wasted this half-year break for nothing if that’s the case. So pointless. Manga and One Pace>>

ahmad

all of them :P

Isaiah

Dont google anything about devil fruits all will be explained dont worry

Marcus D

👆this. I think if you enjoy thoughtful writing you should do this for every one arc piece from here on out. Oda focuses on a different few chosen themes every arc

Benjamin Knock

The music feels really off. The one pace editors tried and did a good job selecting the right songs for which scenes (half im sure were the original choices afterall) but there missing a lot of the eyecatches and every song they chose lasts for its entirety

Larry

This might be a hot take, but I think Skypiea is a bit of a drag. Some very good moments here and there, but compared to the other arcs, this arc was longer than it needed to be. It was pretty underwhelming for me. Lol Just stick with it guys… 💀 I promise, it gets way better afterwards. 😂

Dylan Roy

ill just say ik everyones been hyping the lore in this arc and their is a lot of great lore, but a lot of said lore is foreshadowing and u wont know the significance of the moment till much later

Richie Sour

Cannon sounded like he was fighting for his life these episodes 😭

Ghedo

i dont know, there are other things it sets up, not only the lore, but also some "literal" foreshadowing and think about the end of the arc and a certain square thing

Dylan Roy

No I’m right there with you I just mean the lore won’t mean much to them at this moment we just got a better understanding of the foreshadowing in the manga

Kayanolive

Luckily with one pace its only 20 episodes instead of 40. Idk how Toei doubled this arc 😭
