I didn’t remember Usopp standing up against Enel 😭 y’all he might be a coward but he’s reliable for when it counts Also I was on the same boat with Robin’s VA, it was just very different than anything I’d ever heard. With time tho, I got used to it plus getting to know her character more and her very direct personality/humour made the monotone voice fit her character (dw her VA has range…iykyk 👀). She’s also meant to be in her late 20s so I guess that’s why they went for a more mature voice compared to the rest who are early 20s/ late teens

@Jack you can find a list online that shows the filler % of each arc. Every arc after this has more and more filler, which means worse and worse pacing. Considering the crew was already disliking the pacing in Alabasta I think it would be smart to stick with One Pace for the rest of the series. The pacing will not improve from here.

Just to be clear. Skypiea is very high up in the sky with no safe way of getting there, it’s extremely risky to attempt the travel, therefore not many people get to visit. Though pirates have reached it and brought back evidence of the,(wavers/dials), it seems to be an Urban legend or non existence to most people. Even the residence of jaya, directly below skypiea, joke about its existence. From that we can gather that at least skypiea isn’t common knowledge to the world therefore not publicly recognised by the world government. This also could explain why we haven’t seen a marine presence in this arc. So in summary I wrote everything above just to tell YOU🫵, Cannon,…that the gun slinging Shandian would not likely know about the infamous (GOAT) pirate hunter Zoro.😂

… respect in how he has the characters fight on their own, not just always whining & relying on others to save them. He also has them make as big of an impact and provide value equal to their male counterparts, sometimes out shining them while also having the opposite occur . He explores their internal struggles and insecurities and has them address them. He treats them as full characters, like he does for all of his characters really/mostly. That’s how he respects them.

As for the appearance stuff…are you saying there aren’t mamy women who want to show a lot of skin or are you saying that women shouldn’t show that much skin? Have you not thought that there are narrative points and character personalities traits that lead to such wardrobe choices? I’m sure oda often does it for the appeal, but he often shows men shirtless and showing a lot of skin, do you find a problem with that. Yeah oda is often generous with how much skin he shows, but why is that a bad thing? Majority of the time it’s not presented in a negative tone and it’s just presenting natural parts of the human figure that exists, majority of the time the characters in question don’t seem to be bothered or harmed by it. So how is any of that disrespectful? It just seems like it’s something that doesn’t meet your standards.

Dont froget that characters like robin and Nami are pirates, avoiding law and seeking freedom and dreams, they aren’t concerned with fitting into social norms/order and maintaining a modest reputation. If you pay attention to the islands and societies we see in the show, most side and background female citizens are modestly and appropriately dressed. I think it’s just a big overreacting by you. Rant over. P.s. I’m not supporting every choice oda makes in that manner but I’m not against it either. It’s his story and all of that stuff he does fits realistically in the world he’s established. The way he writes many female characters is respectful in terms of writing them with quality, instead of getting the common shallow shonen girl. That’s was what I meant by respect.

I switched from Dub to Sub to use One Pace. I ended up getting used to the voices and liked it even more except for: Robin and Sanji. Their change in voices also felt like a negative change in personality/vibe.

Nami and Robin have interesting backstories, are insanely crucial to the crew, probably the two most intelligent crew members. They fight, they get hurt and have narrative depth (which we will see aloooot more of) just because they’re hot and show their bodies doesn’t negate that. Hot girls can be powerful, respectable also.

Other reactors I watched also didnt notice it (except for H&K). I believe they will gradually realize that One Piece is more than just a battle shonen. i rewatched it multiple time with multiple members of my family and trust me when i say this is not the point they start noticing its importance. even ponyglyphs. went straight over my siblings heads when it was first mentioned. only noticed during EL and i had to bring up these scenes of robin every time she split from the group to explore just to remind them

The Luffy song in English dub is equally as bad and funny as it is in sub. Colleen Clinkenbeard (Fun Fact she is the VA for Hawkeye in Fullmetal Alchemist dub) does a wonderful job voicing Luffy. Her and Christopher Sabat (Voice actor for Vegeta in Dragonball) as Zoro are like the key reasons why I started my English dub watch of One Piece. Also fun fact Oda hand picks every actor and voice actor for the straw hats in every version of One Piece.

I enjoy One Pace a lot, but I really wish they would be a little more flexible with their editing criteria instead of strictly sticking to the manga. Like not including Enel joining the game and Sanji attacking him is just a straight up bizarre decision.

Oda writes female characters well, the fanservice doesn't negate that. Also, the anime magnifies the fanservice with about a million percent, and even the one pace cut can't help with that.

I think it's that Robin's voice sometimes goes a little breathless that makes it sound a little weak, yeah. This is where Zoro’s attacks start to become really interesting! Also impossible to give a short translation, lol. We’re going into Buddhism here, with the 36 disturbances/destructive passions/ill desires, ”bonnō”. So the pronunciation for the above is ”36 bonnō hō” , but the way it’s written to be pronounced in the manga is ”36 pond(o) hō”. Which means ”36 pound cannon”. As in old military cannons whose power was measured in pounds. Because Oda loves himself a pun. Shame about the animation budget apparently taking a hit in this episode, too. I don’t really felt it made the attack justice: https://i.imgur.com/31W5dXN.gif What I do think that they should have made a bit of an effort with in the translation is Zoro’s comments afterwards. He’s so much of a samurai here, with his expressions! It’s something along the lines of: ”I am pained for your sake. I bear you no ill will, but… I'm not such a fine jewel of a person to let myself be killed just because I’m asked to. I will take up the challenge… of this survival game.”

The hate for the Skypiea arc is honestly misinterpreted. The arc isn't the problem, and the pacing has been like that throughout the anime and hasn't changed that much in the 1100's episodes, so really, people/fans are just complaining about the pacing in general. Shut up and admit you liked the arcs lol, some are just more interesting than others; given the info, but the pacing is the same formula lol.
