Dakota

Holy 3.5 hours of content. I’ve never been happier. Now that I finished the video itself, I’m super pumped that you guys enjoyed this show. No matter how many times I watch, it just makes me feel things. Them meeting up at the end is insanely satisfying. I’ve said it before, but this show and AoT are my top two anime that I’ve watched.

celery

omg posted a whole movie😭 🙏🏻

GreetswithJudgement

I’m glad we watched these reactions with Neal. That made the 86 reactions worth the wait! A top anime for me. 100%.

Miitei

Three hours and a half!! Thank you guys 🫶🏼

Lydia

woaahhhh big drop!!! yes!!!! thank you

Jude

Definitely need Neal to come back for another series

Niko

so blessed to see you guys react to one of my favs of all time!!!! glad yall loved it, thanks so much!!!

Kiyoh

21/22/23 about to be a movie

DontFailArtSchoolEren

Besides Raiden surviving, I like how this anime and this genre isnt afraid to kill off characters and bring out the truly horrible experiences in war and makes their convictions fully impact the viewer. The last few episodes have made this stand out from many. Most war-themed animes will have some sort of "reunion or reveal" between characters on opposites sides of the war if you explore more.

Ari

what? Finally!!! after deciding to sub again because of Shippuden getting more interesting, we have 86 back?! yeah!!

Riley

This is a pleasant surprise!

WWWWWW

Lixien

"He's lit but what if he's too lit" this previous comment from Carter in Episode 12 couldn't describe Ernst better. He's a madman.

Ronald Bohne

Yeah I agree on Raiden but I think the writer decided to keep him alive because of their conversation above the train tracks. All of them living had to happen in order for Shin to believe he could follow this new path of protecting their dreams. He always believed everyone would leave him and their survival and Lena's appearance fixed his mental struggle. I belive in the source material he puts it in autopilot and presumably leaves the machine seconds before.

MADHOUSE

I know I’m always glazing Neal, but I have to say, he’s a master of alley oops. Anytime the boys are confused or have questions about something, bro manages to point them in the right direction and help them get to the answer themselves. If you read this Neal, I applaud you 👏👏 this is why I said we all need a Neal in our lives

Goatchis

Get them on link click next Neal, or watch it yourself if you haven't haha

Kna

It’s almost 1 AM but just had the best 3:34:19 hours of my life. When they raged at those last eps? YESSSSS!!

86 LilaS

“Details you missed in 86” by ctrlaltQQ on YouTube please? These made me love the show even more and it answers your question about why they call Shin “Baleygr.” It does a really good job of putting the entire story into perspective. I think Neal would love them too if he hasn’t seen them

TheBookerDeWitt

Cmon bro you think I aint seen Link Click? I know ball...

TheBookerDeWitt

Ive seen them all, and they are really great videos! By the time I watched them Id already rewatched and caught a lot, but its INSANE that there were even more details I hadnt noticed. Incredible show

TheBookerDeWitt

I appreciate the gas king 😤 being on the couch is scarier than yall might think haha

86 LilaS

PLEASE tell them to check it out! It doesn’t have to be a reaction

MADHOUSE

Yeah, I can’t even imagine being in front of a camera and having to be careful of what you do or say. Ay bro, you’re a natural though. Not even trying to glaze 😂 Hope to see you and the boys react to more stuff in the near future. If only Fate was a biweekly reaction rather than watch party, and you were there to explain the lore that is Fate every episode lol

Goatchis

I agree this show is better than code geass in almost every way but geass has the best character of the two casts in lelouch

Kiyoh

glad you guys enjoyed it lmao 22 really is cinema carter's patience is unreal i was tweaking like the rest of yall

Audreyldo

OMG I LOVE YOU 3h of peak show

Ian

I never thought I'd see the day... Im glad to have been a day one on the votes for this goat show and see it pay off :')

Frank Miller

Only in animation/art/soundtrack is 86 superior, but these things are just superficial stuff. Code Geass has a better story, crazier twist, better characters as a whole with Cornelia, Schneizel, C.C, Kallen, Suzaku, Rolo, Lelouch etc. I only cared about Shin and Milize in 86, every other death scene in 86 felt sad by the amazing music that was played during those scenes, but not by the writing, because we barely knew the characters. Geass only has few more plot holes, but it tells a far more complex story, while 86 is much more contained. Which doesnt mean 86 is bad, its amazing, but not better than Geass.

Winters

Hard to pick between Code Geass and 86 since they came out so far apart. Both just belong in Top Tier.

DontFailArtSchoolEren

86 is very grounded in its war story with colorful animation and poppy song selection but since the enemies lacked any strong personality it focused on the 86 soldiers and Melize's struggle which many shows dealing with humans fighting zombies or alien forces or robots, its nothing unique in this category, many show's story is exactly like 86 with more or less a stoic or charismatic main character. If they dont continue with a season 3 then its been a wonderful finale with the characters newfound hope and reunion. Both shows deal with classism, racism, politics, friendships, identity, etc Code Geass was trying to aim for many things in its scale, large cast of characters and their factions, unique character designs, no cgi mechs, DeathNote-vibes with Lelouch against the world, variety of trumpet, funk, orchestral variety, political strategy, school life, romance, supernatural powers, fan service, moral philosophy etc. The show had higher highs and lower lows with the shocking twists and seeing more of the tactical side in warfare, it just has a bit of everything. The story was very ambitious, having only 2 seasons meant not having enough time to explore more of the mysterious elements while moving the story so the pacing was wobbly but it landed the ending perfectly to many.

DontFailArtSchoolEren

86 didnt try to stand out like Code Geass with its quirky over the top elements but i find it charming. The story in 86 was executed well since it was very straight forward plot but its very similar to Code Geass akito the exiled (with more flair) if you want to check that out. Aldnoah Zero, Darling in the Franxx, Record of Grancrest War, Mobile Suit Gundam: iron blooded orphans and Mobile Suit Gundam: the witch from mercury, Gundam 00, Gundam Seed/Destiny, Knights of Sidonia will have very similar or identical stories just different scales and direction.

WhynefineT

Better than boreland saga

zak

lolll

Shadow

All this dude does is post shi rage bait. What a life

かん

86/10 show

mar zelle

man 86 is so fucking peak i cried my eyes out multiple times even tho ive already watched this PEAK

Icchi

Can never trust a VS hater

WhynefineT

I don't? Vinland saga s2 is boring so that's my opinion

Juanca

86 is amazing. There are too many people sleeping on it

Nasty

Hopefully we get a video to them reacting to the op and ending song, they are just too good to pass on.

Artemipsyche

I also read 86…the way they animate it really is peak, so much more emotional impact, the tension, it’s beautiful 🥹

Hector

This was a binge for the agesss

Dani G

Holy crap, you guys just casually dropped the rest of it in one video and dropped this in the process: 👑

Dani G

“Open your effing hat!” 😂😂😂

Dani G

As much as I want a season two, if this is really how it ends, I can live with it. This ending was perfect right down to the final shot of their fingers making an 86.

Neemz

Will die on the hill that the directing in those final episodes is some of, if not the best, in anime

Melizé

Finally had the time to watch this upload! Cried twice 🥹 I loved their reactions to the last episode because that was literally me when I watched it for the first time. I kept checking how much time was left to make sure there was enough time for them to meet up lol such a good payoff ❤️ Plus, them calling her Mel or Melize 🥹🥹🥹 dreams do come true guys 🥹🥹🥹

DontFailArtSchoolEren

i think the sudden transition into season 2 farmland turned off many people from the crazy first season but it pays off on a deeper level.

Jack

Definitely making the S Tier at the end of the year rankings. This show was so effing good I can’t believe it

David

Really Glad you guys ended up finishing this show. One of the best endings of all time and the direction and cinematography of the last 3-4 eps is among the best iv seen.

W3ll4n

Melizé

🥹🥹❤️❤️

PattieLo

I am so happy you guys didn’t forget this show and ended up enjoying it and appreciating it for what it is. 86 has been one of my favorite shows since it came out and I love watching people going through it. Thank you for giving this show love! That quote of Shin that Neal highlighted, “the future is too long someone like me”, I remember how it made me bawl my eyes out when going through this show for the first time… it made me feel incredibly sad for Shin… and while he doesn’t get over his mental state completely at the end, it was so satisfying to see him find a new purpose.

WhynefineT

"Deeper level" we don't care. Character development should also be exciting to watch. This is was just straight up dogshit

86 LilaS

Don’t know if it’s a hot take or not, but I like Voices of the Chord more than Avid

PattieLo

And definitely do a rewatch!

DonDuh103

Crazy Edge!!!!!!

TheBookerDeWitt

A1 Pictures truly took the material to another level

Dani G

It’s my third favorite anime ever.

Dani G

I was watching with my friend who’d seen it already and she was just laughing at me while I was basically flailing and freaking out like..”THEY BETTER MEET BEFORE THIS ENDS!”

Melizé

Hahaha I was actually watching it with Neal and I kept asking him "this is not the end is it?" 😂 rolling credits got me twice! 😂

Dani G

Hahaha I was SO scared I wasn’t going to get that pay off! Thank GOD! This ending was perfect. This entire series is phenomenal.

Melizé

I would have been so mad hahaha! I'm very happy with the ending. My top 4 anime of all time 🥹🥹

Dani G

Me too! Third place for me after AOT and Fruits Basket.

Melizé

Hey AoT is also my no 1! I have to watch fruit basket!

Teraofmarcus

Now we need to see a VIVI reaction

DCMH

Can we get a rewatch after you finish rewatching aot? 👀👀

maite˙⋆✮

thank you for finishing this masterpiece!!!

1999

Bro the edging was actually unbearable

S Moonchild⁷

Thank you Studio Gek and Neil for recommending this show to me, I have been crying for a week now. I will go find the novels and read them now, cause I need more of Shin and Lena. What an S tier show, my top 3 now!

Mei Nano

Thank you for finishing 86 i thought it will be lost on the void with no updates...😂 86 its the type of anime i am always looking for: plot 10/10 and animation 10/10. Btw the studio behind it's A-1 Pictures same as Solo Leveling😉 and soundtrack made by the best ones Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto😊I recommend you guys to listen to the album, there are really good songs.

All might

a little easter egg I noticed in the last ep of s1 there was 5 birds in the sky when they left Lena behind but in the last episode of s2 there was 6 birds to symbolize their reunion

indy

this show makes me so excited to see their 2025 anime tier list

Kiyoh

s/o all the 86 enjoyers

Davide

Man what a ride! I forgot how good this show was, thanks Neil for having you guys watch it!

zak

_monjiro

Didnt realize it when watching the first 3 times, but apparently according to what was said by Grethe, the Nachzehrer sustains speed at over Mach 5. A little over 1000km in ~9 minutes or 6666.67 km/h

H.Henituse

I REALLY LOVE YOU GUYS' REACTIONS FOR 86!! I rewatch it multiple times and never got bored with it. May you have a blessed day as you make mine!

Iris

So late to this for whatever reason😩, but so glad you guys finished this show! It is terribly under represented in the anime community and I've no idea why so I always try to recommend it to anyone I can. I do agree that this is true cinema and where it ends is satisfying, However, I am terribly curious about a few loose ends in particular and i'd like to see if my own predictions are correct or not. So looks like I'll be picking up the books after all💖 and I suppose I'll have to lament that this series as an anime will never "actually" be completed.

Artemipsyche

I come back to watch this… god it’s so good

hhh

Castlevania. I think you would love it. or wakfu it changes from japanese anime in a sense

Honey Ochres

finally here and done with it 🥹 i bought a patreon membership for the first time just for you guys, and ESPECIALLY for your reaction to 86!!! tysm neil and studio gek 😭 one of my favourite animes for sure <33
