Friday night in, lakeshow, this and shippuden

Cannon coming to terms with Floch being a fantastic character in real time is peak. He's nothing if not an honest bastard in a story full of idealistic idiots. Carter learning to appreciate Armin more is also peak; they're having reverse character arcs. Also, Bradlynn hit the nail straight on the head with Floch - insane for a first watch to have such a nuanced view of an intended polarizing character. A minor detail is that when Floch & Co. joined, Erwin wasn't the one delivering the recruitment speech because he was busy planning. Erwin has always been brutally honest; everyone else was high on morale after the coup, thinking that Shiganshina could be an easy win. Re: the shell at the end symbolizes the wall and their ignorance. Like a hermit crab, the Scouts are no longer bound by their shells, and the world literally and figuratively opens up for all its horrors and wonders alike.

ochoa2001

Alright well now with this episode they know at least by name all 9 titan

Thanks Vanesa!

Thank you Greets!

I can’t believe we’re already at season 4, the ladies are in for a crazy ride!!!

Ali

Mass expulsion of millions, 75 years of apartheid, putting them in a cage, mass imprisonment and rapes, subjugation, calling an entire race human animals, mercilessly butchering children, and currently starving the entire population while dropping bombs on them... This is the reality of what America and its best friend has done to Palestine. For resources and political benefits. May the oppressors be defeated, may Palestine be free. 🇵🇸 And their "titan crime" is that they are Muslims. This is what the show reflects in our current world, so don't just enjoy it as entertainment and call it a day. Make a difference with whatever you have in your circle. Be a friend to the oppressed, and an enemy to the oppressors.

I’ve grown to love s3 finale a lot even though it’s quite simple. Pulls at my heart strings every single damn time.

Happy birthday to you!!

PLEASE GUYS DONT FORGET TO WATCH POST CREDITS OF EP 4 YOU GUYS MISSED IT LAST TIME

Pulse rifles suck in pve

you guys mentioned it but im pretty confident i remember hearing that falco is the restorationist's nephew rather than grandson

a_daichi

can’t wait to rave about my other favorites in s4! ahhhh

Kae D. en

Y’all are fine bro

indy

time for the real attack on titan to begin

DontFailArtSchoolEren

since the beginning of time, someone wins and someone loses, unfortunate if you were born into an oppressed state. All countries that never developed a nuclear weapons program has been invaded.

6

Are the Eldians in Marley truly 'brainwashed'? This is a question I hope is contemplated more thoroughly in future.

DontFailArtSchoolEren

Floch was right, he knew it all boiled down to protecting his people and country or die trying. Rather be a sinner who ruled in Hell than be a slave in one.

Sickleweed

YES! Thanks for not making us wait til Monday for S4, Team Gek! Happy weekend to you all!

Artemipsyche

This was a great group of episodes to watch together.

Tony Garcia

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE that finally someone shows the Beast titan some love and appreciation 🦧 Zeke is a goat 🐐

Brady

yeah, still a rough game to watch as a fan though (some terrible refs too)

kiiturii

"if someone with royal blood is made into a titan that I touch" is still one of the weirdest sentence structures in the crunchy sub lol

Guy

Shingeki no Kyoijin is the name of Eren's titan and it's also the name of the show in Japanese so this was the big "title drop" moment when it first came out

Vallll

What a surprise. I thought we were only going to get one episode and a long discussion at the end. You guys are the best!

Camila

Happy birthday!!

Cody

Feels right to be late, I would have crashed out if I had to wait

Guy

I remember Floch being such a throw away character on my first watch, but this time around seeing the PTSD he's acquired from his near death experience against Monke really changes how I perceive him now. Underrated character development there

lololol

Wait what the geks didnt know falco and colt were related to the one who recruited grisha (grice)? crazy

Zess

I didnt know that wtf lol

the stare to the camera are my favorite parts

Should’ve let the season 3 end credits play

Miitei

Falco!!! My sweet child, we finally get to see him ❤️

a_daichi

Reiner’s little descriptions of the the crew always cracks me up lol “there were all sorts of people there” Gabi was shook haha. She was like but they’re all supposed to be devils wdym???

Miitei

Happy birthday 🥳🥳

kiiturii

nahh they really said "what was that?" to Mikasa just being happy lmao

TheSauceGuy

Get Thorfinn in here to talk to Eren ong

Leo

GOAT Floach

TheSauceGuy

I think I can safely say that I prefer season 3 to season 2 now, but season 2 does have more nostalgic value and emotional moments for me.

TheSauceGuy

The show advances so quickly (if you aren't waiting years between each season lol), but I wish they had taken the time to cover some things more. We're kind of rushed through the whole interior police arc, and while I think the timeskip in s4 is cool, I wish we got to see a more gradual progression for the characters in that four-year gap.

TheSauceGuy

It's cool to see Falco and Colt fighting for Marley while their uncle was a Restorationist.

notchrisramirez

ASDFJKLAHSDLKFJHASLDK H SCREW IT JUST DROP THE NEXT 28 EPISODES ALL IN ONE VIDEO

ReyZiegler

Remember when this show was trying to make a statement about fascist authoritarianism and ethnic cleansing? And the US government WASN'T doing that? How I wish things were the way they were back then...

notchrisramirez

Are the girls gonna react to the intros after watching? I just want to hear PEAK intro of second half of season 4 (can't say name for obvious reasons...)

Rohan

WWWWWWWWWWW

llB0JANGLESll

Yea.. Wasn't there some post credit ish?

Lydia

Best season of anything ever starts now 🔥🔥🔥

kiiturii

nah they did the timeskip well. It wouldn't have made much sense to follow them through the 4 years. In fact when you think about it this was probably the only good way to go about it

TheSauceGuy

I didn't say they should remove the timeskip, I just said it'd be better if we got to see a more gradual progression of events/characters as well. Four years is a long amount of time and we see very little of it.

kuza

S4 here we are

testing 44u328

DAWGSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a.k.a Feet

hman70

Eve really nailed the sadness of the beach scene. It’s the sadness of Armin realizing his and Eren’s dream that they’ve shared since childhood wasn’t actually a shared dream. Armin wanted to see the sea for its own sake, while Eren was dreaming about the ideal of freedom the sea represented. He’s too busy contemplating killing his enemies to even notice the sea shell his best friend is trying to show him. So glad you guys finally made it to season 4, these final arcs cement AoT as a landmark piece of fiction and I cant wait to see how you guys like them :)

Pham Hung

Ackermans are all awkward and robotic. So when they show emotions, you kinda just short-circuited a little bit. If you think about it Mikasa is the only character of the main 3 with the least internal monologue, so in order to understand her, you kinda have to over-analyze her every words and actions.

ash

ahhh here we go.. the 4th season is truly unlike any other

Jamin

RAHHHHH

Kim 555

4-2?! Okayyy

TTB

Please have the next reaction be 3 episodes I need to see there reaction to the declaration of war ep.

Nanami's Wife

It's so crazy to me how many reactors I've seen that watched the extra end credit scene of s4ep1 and didn't recognize the person, but I remember in my first watch I automatically recognized him in that shot, because why wouldn't I recognize my husband😭 Can’t run or hide from me, come home the kids miss you🤭

Nanami's Wife

When the outro song started playing, so many feelings and emotions came back. It's sooo good, same with the last outro song

Ron Jackson Jr

What’s after AOT when it’s finished anyone know?

Sean Carroll

Nah 2 episodes and leave 5, 6 and 7 for a triple drop

Levi

Man, the lovely thing is that u can see beside the girls excitement, the boys are so into it while they already seen it.. also the reactions of the girls are so good and they need really to pay attention also to " subtitles " The thing about AOT is all the secrets and hints are in the lines characters say, its so amazing really

jblakk

Yeah its their uncle.

kuza

next batch the declaration of war 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Nami Swannn

Bradlynn hit the nail on the head, there’s evil and corruption on the outside but also on the island itself. It’s everywhere. I can’t remember which character said this but there’s a quote along the lines of “people won’t stop fighting each other until the human population is down to one or less”

kuza

unless they drop 2

Melizé

If you haven't stood in front of a body of water with your left arm raised, index finger pointing at it, are you truly an AoT fan?

Nami Swannn

Also I think Bradlynn brings up a good point about the only solution being getting rid of the powers. That’s smth I was thinking at this point of the series because I really saw no other solution. While it’s obvious what the Marlayns are doing is wrong, their fears aren’t made up. The power of the titans does exist, the innate danger of the Eldians just because of their blood is a real thing (and we saw how it was abused long ago). Again, it’s not right to enslave them and treat them as cattle and there’s no excuse for that, but realistically, ppl will refuse to live in peace with what are basically ticking time bombs no matter how kind they are (ppl already refuse to live in peace with one another for much dumber reasons). The question is, how do you get rid of smth in your blood 😭??

Nate

Don’t forget to show the episode 4 post credit scene!!!! Ya’ll forgot it last time!!!!

Zu

Reiterating what other people have said but don't forget ep4 end credit scene lmao

Jimmy

OH MAN THAT ONE SCENE WITH THAT ONE THING AT THAT ONE TIME GOD MAN THIS SHOW SO PEAK

Chrissy

Why do I always tear up!!! I have so much to say but definitely need to take some time to compose my thoughts and not spoil as well. Also. Eren my goat always lmao

Chrissy

I recreated it in infinity Nikki 🫣

Melizé

🔥🔥🔥

TTB

No because what they could do is end it off with the assassin bullet episode you know what happens in that episode.

GreetswithJudgement

I get chills every time Ashes on the Fire plays followed by Zekes scream!

Chrissy

Also quick comment. I love how the girls weren’t confused about the new characters and immediately knew it was the other side of the sea. I remember when this came out all the jokes about “is this the right show!?” And it kind of annoyed me. I just really appreciate they understood immediately.

fyre

“Marley’s a country, right?” Jack: “It’s like a nation.” ???

LuvStarburst

I bought some tacos, so now it's time to enjoy this upload and naruto afterwards.

Kim 555

Bradlynn is so real for that question cause I’ve also had it. What would happen if a male eldian inherited the female titan. Would that change their biological sex or would it still be male human form and female titan form

Sean Carroll

Yeah and I don’t care about the result of that episode personally. The 5 6 7 trilogy is legendary

Paul Durbin

What an interesting theory 🤔

TTB

I feel you those 3 stretch episodes are of course amazing and the upcoming 3 episode stretch in s4p2 is even more amazing.

fyre

the girls are so sharp, most people dont pick up a lot of these themes on their first watch

Matthew Valentine

Isayama reached into his bag to pull out another bag this arc 🐐

Marcus

what if they just dont inherit it and it respawn like it was lost

Poragami

"Apologies for Jack's yapping lol" is so real lmao

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

Jack's yapping in the intro didn't go unnoticed😂 I think it would be so funny to follow Jack for the whole reaction in some video😂 trying to find out what he's saying

Zipzzty

Peak Fiction

hman70

It’s my opinion that if a male inherited the female titan the Titan would still have female characteristics and the shifter would remain unchanged. Best evidence we have so far is that Ymir and Pieck’s titans appear somewhat male despite them being women—so we know a titan’s appearance is largely determined by its “role” in the 9. I have a more in depth explanation too that involves spoilers

Alan

A little scuffed Japanese lesson that makes “shingeki no kyojin” = attack titan even cooler, the particle の “no” in Japanese language can mean different things. One way is directed so “an attack on titans” but another is a way to describe a subject “the attack titan”. I like to think that when they translated the title to “attack on titan” they thought it was because they are at war with titans, but then the big reveal is that the real meaning of the title is the “attack titan.” It was probably another level of mind blowing to native Japanese speakers because the “shingeki no kyojin” reveal literally changed the meaning of the title of the story. I was just starting to take some Japanese classes at the time this was revealed and it blew me away.

hman70

4x8 is a natural ending point for a watch session because it’s the end of the arc

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

Damn the ending song gives me massive chills. Shingeki no Kyojin really has it all covered🔥

Thelcia

FINAlly we're on season 4!!! IM SO EXCITED

Cyrus

In my first watch (and subsequent rewatches of the show), I did not get the intricacies of floch's character. The extreme opinions of him at the time made me feel like I had to pick a side and I failed to remember that aot is decidedly NOT about everything being black and white. So I have to commend the fact that Bradlynn had such a nuanced take in relation to him like Pham Hung pointed out. She picked up on things that I didn't even consider. I'm beginning to understand floch's values/beliefs and can now see an interesting parallel between him and jean. Floch at the ceremony is similar to how jean was in season 1 in the sense that they both sorta tell it like it is without much filter. In that sense you can see some of jean's growth here; he's more courteous than he used to be. He's not necessarily saying that floch shouldn't voice his opinion at all, he just thinks that there's a time and place for these sort of discussions and the funeral was not one of them, showing that he isn't the "insincere jerk who only thinks about himself" (reiner's words) anymore. All in all, I'm excited to continue this rewatch and hopefully I'll be able to point out more similarities between the two.

NMP

I mean, I disagree personally. After the raid on Liberio we have like ten straight episodes exploring Paradis and how it’s changed with lots of flashbacks too

NMP

Rip

Thelcia

YALL DONT FORGET THE EP4 POST CREDIT SCENE!!

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

I don't know if it's the blu ray but it makes the mappa animation almost unbearable to watch. The movements really try to make it seem like real life but it sucks bad

Pudding

Reiner looking very drippy in this season, can't wait for the girls to see the other characters' drip too 😆

6

What's the explanation of Carter's impulse to always skip the end credit scenes?

Jeremy Johnson

Yo are these guys Mormon or something? why don’t they swear?

6

Can you specify a but more please? Is this in reference to the crimes committed by israel in Palestine 🇵🇸 or something else?

Jmann

Unbearable is crazy

Hector

We all saw it too right? When medals was being were being handout (and no, not the memories)

Hector

Oh Gabi, They could make me like you...

6

Season 3 was better.

lilrigbus

I didn't catch it. What was it?

Skyz

Crazy that one kiss to Christa's hand changed Eren's life

Miitei

Spoiler ahead When Historia is about to hang the medal on Eren, it forms the shape of Eren's founding titan transformation during the rumbling.

Flubbedsquid

Youtube most likely, for ad revenue purposes. Or they're Mormon, idk.

Hector

Never*

Sean Carroll

Not every single person in the world swears

Sean Carroll

Be quiet and go eat a potato Sasha

Maj

what the hell that's so fire, I never noticed that before

kiiturii

I don't fully remember but I'm pretty sure they are christian and went to a religious school. They mentioned something about it way back during the first aot reaction

kiiturii

it's mostly just these 2 or 3 first episodes that have it, I agree it's not really well executed but it doesn't make it unwatchable. Also, what we're seeing is not the bluray, they can't record the bluray version so we're still seeing crunchyroll

Mysterious Figure

Cannon, is that bruising on your right arm from that tendinitis you had before still?

chaosmerchant

Absolutely agreed lol. I watched episode 1 all the way up till we see Reiner, going huh did I miss half of the new season? Am I on the wrong episode?

Aidan Ross

1:22:45 watching bradlynn’s smile disappear as carter talks about Marcos death 😭 he’s giving her ptsd fr

Jean Racaillou

Carter told us a week ago that they almost finished season 4 already so I doubt it matters lmao

jerry

Someone pointed it out in a Youtube comment and I always notice it now on every rewatch but it's funny how Zeke is always shocked by the idea of an enemy fighting back.

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

Thanks for the info and yeah it makes sense how the animation is like this only sometimes because I don't remember this kind of animation the whole way through season 4.

a_daichi

thanks everyone! 🙏🏾

a_daichi

woah I gotta go back how did I miss that

Ollie

Haha Carter cracking a smile when Shock starts playing during the outro of S4 E1 😆 the memories!

a_daichi

Great point! tbh I hated floch in the beginning but have but gotten around to him as a character

Ollie

Oh my god this show bro 😭 this is my fourth watchthrough ffs

a_daichi

angel on earth

Ollie

Our enemies are over there 😵‍💫🫵🏻

Ollie

I didn't like the beginning of season 4 on my first watch AT all because I binged and I was still so mindblown by this new concept. However I appreciate it far more now, and the girls are doing really well.

bondbond53

Floch is an amazing character. His fans on the other hand are the worst part of this show

Ollie

I got spoiled about them seeing the sea when someone said it was their favourite moment... So I spent all this time expecting them seeing the sea for the first time to be the ending of the show, with them having arrived at the sea and defeated all the titans and everyone is happy and free and everyone just goes home 😂 "the end"

njnets123

Season 4 end episode discussions are gonna COOK

Uu

How come?

Mr. John Kagurabachi

IMO this show is in reference to its own Japanese war culture and political history. I think it’s kinda narcissistic to assume it’s for the USA.

Cannon Andrus

It’s from physical therapy. Turns out last year I partially tore my tricep tendon and it’s giving me grief still :(

Cannon Andrus

I actually love gabi on this watch

bondbond53

MAPPA Reiner and Zeke can highkey get it🫦

Mysterious Figure

I injured my shoulder and scapula back in November 2023 and its taking a long time to get better even with regular workouts and PT twice a week so I understand. That's why I remembered your arm probably still hurts. Hang in there. ❤️

Bradlynn Andrus

I’m still wondering 😭 I bring it up to Carter every day

Mr. John Kagurabachi

I was so mad Reiner lived in s3 but then s4 changed things for me 🫦

Mr. John Kagurabachi

NGL season 4 is gonna be peak post discussion for Bradlynn. I feel like she’ll cook with what’s gonna happen

Jmann

I’m curious how you guys will break up the episodes this season

Sean Carroll

What? When and where did he say that?

TheSauceGuy

I winced reading that. Good luck man.

TheSauceGuy

I think it's just how they were raised tbh; I used to be the same way until high school. Regardless, I think Cannon or Carter also said something about swearing in like every sentence sort of oversimplifies your vocabulary. I'm not religious, but my adoptive mother's family is and I remember one of her sisters getting mad at me for saying "heck" lmao. What did she want me to say, "oh fiddlesticks!?" I don't know if she still is, but at the time, she took the Bible literally, and she and her kids thought the world was like 6,000 years old. It's funny how "frick" and "fuck" mean the same thing, but we give more weight to the latter; language is an interesting thing.

TheSauceGuy

Just wanted to point out that Reiner, Zeke, and I have the same birthday. Weirdly enough, there's a whole page on the birthdays of characters: https://attackontitan.fandom.com/wiki/Calendar/Birthdays. My friend has the same as Samuel, and I wanted to point out that his full name in the show is "Samuel L (Linke) Jackson" lol.

TheSauceGuy

I imagine it'd still take characteristics from the shifter, but the form would be female. I think the Female Titan was potentially created before Isayama planned on having more female shifters. It would be interesting if Ymir's Jaw and Pieck's Cart titans were more curvy lmao. The original Cart Titan design is even weirder and the shifter was originally planned to be a man. The Founding Titan also takes on female characteristics such as breasts, as seen with Freida.

TheSauceGuy

Lol, "Do you remember this war we've been fighting in for four years?"

TheSauceGuy

On the other side of the sea are our true enemies (England).

Melizé

Hahaha no no, I have friends in England too 🥰

TheSauceGuy

The show doesn't take inspiration from one single area of history, nor one single country. While it clearly doesn't apply to the US alone, and wasn't intended to, the US is actively funding Israel. The Israeli government is illegally occupying territories, and the UN has agreed that they are breaking international law. Journalists are intentionally targeted by the IDF, just look at the number that have been killed. We are the "Land of the Free" while simultaneously having the most incarcerated in the world, interfering with foreign elections, funding genocide in Palestine, etc.

TheSauceGuy

@Vongola As I said in my other comment, it takes inspiration from multiple points of history from multiple nations. Despite this, it is definitely more Eurocentric, at least on the other side of the sea. Marley is clearly supposed to resemble Nazi Germany during the Holocaust, but the level of technology is closer to early/pre-World War I tech, rather than early/pre-World War II.

Ollie

Oi I'm from England 🤣

Dani G

The Gek Girls just seem like they’d be so much fun to hang out with and they catch on really fast to what’s going on in the story. The vibes on this whole couch are flying high. ✨

Dani G

This is the season that took the series to masterpiece status in my opinion.

Dani G

Jean was already in my top three, but I love him more and more with each rewatch. He is just such a subtly fantastic character.

Ollie

The post episode discussions these episodes were awesome

Dani G

That scene at the ocean always makes my arms explode with goosebumps. 😭

bondbond53

Cannon why are you so Goated? Now only if you liked Sasuke...

Matthew

These are Pieck episodes 😆🙄

Dani G

Gabi is so Eren-coded. I honestly love her lmao

S Moonchild⁷

I loved how girls gave some credit to Floch, we need that opposing view to open up our favorite characters. He is wonderfully written in my opinion, what he says and how he acts is very logical. If I was in a unit that was bombarded by rocks and miraculously survived, I would be as salty and depressed as he was. Yes, Falco and Colt are nephews of Grice guy that got Grisha in the Patriots team. Porco calling Ymir pitiful is just sad. Can't imagine in what state Ymir was in, willingly going to sacrifice her life.

S Moonchild⁷

I will try to answer your question without spoilers. Female titan is what people who saw Annie call that titan (cause of female body she has), original name is Mimic Titan and it is genderless. So if a man inherits it, it should like skinless Eren I think. The power is mimicking other titans, like armor that Reiner has, agility of Jaw etc.

Dani G

I love how much Bradlynn has loved Reiner so early in the story because I adore him and always have and he shines so much in the back half of the show. One of the best characters in this series IMO.

RishadCast

Floch did nothing wrong

GreetswithJudgement

He really is, just absolutely true to his nature of being a man slathered in his own flaws but doing his best all the time, regardless of them.

Dani G

He’s such a natural born leader for someone who never wanted any of this, but chose it simply because he was too good of a guy to take the easy road. I love him so much.

Dani G

I’m not the biggest Floch fan, but I think he is a fantastic character. So well written and easy to empathize with. I understand completely why Porco would say those things about Ymir. They were from a place of bitterness.

Dani G

Yep! Especially given her favorites.

Emmanuel Yakubu

It was said by Pyxis in Season 1 iirc when he was talking to Eren about lifting the boulder

Dani G

Yes to Reiner. No to Zeke. Nope! Lmao. My AOT men are Eren, Erwin, Jean, Reiner, and Armin. Love Levi, but it’s platonic.

Dani G

Zeke is so unintentionally hilarious.

Dani G

Gabi is literally Eren from the other side of the sea. I truly don’t understand the hate. Her arc is brilliant.

Dani G

Eren and Jean 🥵

Dani G

I noticed this the first time I saw 1 and 2 as well, but it’s temporary.

Pudding

The girls are not ready... 🫣 everybody got a glow up in this season fr

Dani G

Baby Angel! Too good for this world. 🥲

Dani G

When did Carter not appreciate Armin before though? He full on cried for him.

Dani G

Toradora or Fruits Basket!

Dani G

For real! Even Connie, lmao.

GreetswithJudgement

He’s absolutely me in real life so I learned to respect him as I’m on my current journey of respecting myself! I see so much of him in me and I’m glad I’m getting this rewatch because it’s helping me see so much more in him.

Hector

I get why people think Gabi and Eren are similar they were both attacked, driven by emotion, and wanted revenge. But there is a lot of differences... Eren’s rage grows into a fight for not just for himself, but for his people, he questions the entire system that created the "cycle of hatred". Gabi stays trapped in the mindset she was taught. Just pure hatred, even trying to kill people who showed her kindness (that farm people). She’s even shocked she's attacked, ignoring that Marley was about to invade Paradis again. Eren wanted to break the world. Gabi just wanted to be accepted by it...

M1GZ

they do swear probably just keep it at a minimum for ad revenue and I do believe they are indeed Mormon.

Niffol

Gek should watch Band of Brothers around 4th of july.

Animeke

Eren not being able to enjoy the sea, not only because he's seen it from other's memories, but also that he knows what's waiting on the other side is so tragic. On top of that, the fight for freedom just got exponentially harder.

6

No.

jrnoodles

Thanks GeksDeluxe! The pot is stirring!

Nami Swannn

It was Erwin! But Pyxis has a few very similar quotes which is why I couldn’t remember who between them said this one in particular

Dani G

She is legit him from the other side of the sea.

TheSauceGuy

she's just better at everything lol

Dani G

I have so much to say about this, but I can’t without going into spoiler territory, so I will wait until the girls are done the show, but I’ll defend Gabi Braun with my life.

Dani G

Bless Eren’s heart, lmao

TheSauceGuy

What should it be changed to?

aubrey

very excited for the s4 discussions! there's a ton of nuance that people pretend doesn't exist and i've seen the most braindead takes about the show and some of the characters... im excited that none of that will be here haha

Paul Durbin

Band of Brothers is the best television show of all time hands down isn't even close.

Hector

If one them read this far in the thread they got a nasty spoiler from my last comment 😭😭

kiiturii

anything lol, it's just bad and confusing. I've seen reactors completely miss what it even means in the moment and be confused why Eren is suddenly so worried about historia

Melly

I forgot about the Grice and Falco and Colt! Also is Falco’s name foreshadowing… never thought about it much until now.

Pham Hung

Sorry for the late reply. I worded it poorly but big emphasis on “more”. On this watch he seems to now fully understood why Levi chose Armin from a story-telling, analytical perspective with better understanding of how Kenny shaped Levi’s decision. During the first watch he was more emotionally invested but was adamant that they should’ve saved Erwin.

Zu

So edit the comment and put a spoiler warning lol

Melly

Zeke really lowkey gives off the same quirkiness as Hange and Sasha in a weird way. Like you don’t expect it at all but he consistently has those sort of moments.

Melly

Wow great insight!

Melly

What!! Never noticed

Melly

I’m always pausing to rewind and turn up my volume to get in on Jack’s commentary!

Melly

Can someone explain the soldier who jumped the roof

TheSauceGuy

What's wrong with the wonderboy?

TheSauceGuy

"the secret way i wipe my ass"

TheSauceGuy

It could probably be worded better, but it makes perfect sense to me.

Dani G

He killed Erwin. I’m petty.

jblakk

My birthday is Floch too, what're the odds lmfao 6 days away from being the goat

jblakk

Because they mistake good character writing for being "correct" and admire his fascist behavior and take up his tribalistic beliefs often in certain comment sections.

@Dani Why would Galliard be 'bitter' towards Ymir?

S Moonchild⁷

She ate his brother and the loss on warrior team might have caused their mission’s failure

NMP

^^^ Like holy shit i do not miss at all the internet discussions around 2021-2023 in between Season 4 releasing when the Yaegerist fan brigade was out in full force

Adam

Why do I have same birthday as pastor Nick 😭😭. Also Sasha's father has same birthday as mine

NMP

If i remember correctly episode 2 uses a lot of rotoscoping basically animating over real life movements. Its very weird they use it just for that one episode and nothing really anywhere else

NMP

I think it looks good though

he's kinda right. "Marley is an empire comprised of an enormous continent as well as various oversea territories. Its entire population is unknown, but the main ethnic group are the Marleyans, leading the nation politics, economy, diplomacy and military." What's the difference between a Nation and a Country? "A nation is a large group of people with similar characteristics and culture. A country is a geographic region that has boundaries and borders. The important thing to remember is that a country has its own national government while a nation has its own national character."

a_daichi

love my girl Gabi idc

a_daichi

Eve apart of the Jean hive!!! 🙂‍↕️

fyre

Marley doesn’t have it’s own national character. They consist of other conquered nations and because these other nations have their own culture they don’t fall under the scope of Marley culture. Marley and it’s conquered lands are subject to the same government but it’s people aren’t subject to the same culture. So no, Jack isn’t right, if anything he’s completely wrong and Eve is right in calling it a country.

Niffol

Hell yeah brothers.

Kibutsuji

I'm sick after that game, lakers in 7..

TheSauceGuy

McKay, who do you like more, Pieck or Shadowheart?

ruthyrooo

I find that moment so funny and sweet, along with her little squeak. She’s not an expressive person so it just warms me to see her little nervous smile. I’m glad Isayama includes those small details.

This last episode of season 3 is so haunting; especially from the moment when Eren kisses historia's hand at the medal ceremony on; and right before that, when he's talking with Armin in a hopeful way about the sea and freedom as we've seen so many times throughout the show which has been so pure and encouraging, and then in the midst of that Eren sees the memories of grisha's sister being brutalized by those marleyan dogs; I love how when Eren kisses historia's hand and has the flashback of grisha confronting Frieda in the ceremonial cave, he has memories first from grisha's perspective, and then finally from freida's (since he inherited both of their memories), where he sees (and we get to see) grisha's indescribably anguished expression; and then we come back to the present and see Eren wearing that same expression; and it just hangs there for a few seconds, with Levi and Hange and historia looking at him in shock, with no music, nothing to distract from that discomfort; and gently fades into the next scene; a gentle transition that is juxtaposed with the incredible intensity of what that moment contains; the way that titan they encounter on the way to the sea is so vulnerable and has such a soulful, mournful, human expression (something that was drawn to my attention in an analysis video I watched), which pairs nicely with our newfound knowledge of the true identity of the titans, as tortured and tragic eldians caught in a savage nightmare just like the characters we've grown to love; their monstrosity now revealed to be the monstrosity made manifest of this cycle of war that they're all caught in; the way Armin holds that seashell so tenderly and let's it sink down slowly as he feels the weight of eren's proclamation at the end, as if he's holding the dreams and hopes and the vulnerable humanity of everyone on all sides, so delicate and so pure, right there in his hands, threatened by the reality of what Eren is naming (but he is still holding on to the shell, there is still hope); and another thing I have that analysis video to thank for being able to notice: every single other character in that final sequence has an expression of open innocent amazement and/or outright joy at various points; but eren's expression alone, for that whole sequence, is one of unwavering and hardened stoicism; until the very end, when he's talking with Armin, about the enemies across the sea, and he lifts his arm in this way as if a puppet master is lifting it by an invisible unseen string, and his expression and his voice are twisted in defeat and desperation; and they're in this beautiful paradise with that gentle piano playing; the juxtaposition of that gentleness and beauty with the weight of their situation and especially of eren's unique perspective and awareness; the orchestration of this whole scene is just so artful and communicates so much with such subtlety and tenderness, and capitalizes so well on all that's been built and experienced in the whole show

TheSauceGuy

Well that discussion got wiped from the face of the Earth lol

Sean Carroll

Can you dm me the message you said you sent Carter, I’d like to see your point of view

TheSauceGuy

I seemingly can't dm you on Patreon, it only seems to work from creator to patron, and vice versa. Just add my Discord, it's "thesauceguy" lol.

jared

Gustav and Halil for me! I'm not immediately sure who they are I'm ashamed to say!

jared

Thanks that was hard for me to understand too 🙏 like who that was even

jared

He's so sassy

TheSauceGuy

You've only met one of them at this point in the show.

TheSauceGuy

he killed him with baseball too haha

jared

That's incredible thank you for this wow!!!

TheSauceGuy

I just felt the UK is the easiest country to make fun of outside of the US lol

jared

Ah interesting thanks for this!!

TheSauceGuy

Imagine an AoT romcom lmao

Alex P

I wouldn’t say it was stoicism, to me the voice sounded full of desperation, he just couldn’t enjoy the moment like everyone else because of what he has seen in Grisha’s memories

TheSauceGuy

I just wish we had a whole extra season of development. I know we have the "final season p1, p2, p3, p4 ... p999, p1000" and all, but still.

jared

Here here, same, it's such a sweet moment and detail

TheSauceGuy

it's a super childish, but simultaneously valid feeling in that scene from Eren.

Gamao99

Not only that but he didnt actually wanna see the sea, he just wanted to go there bcs it would mean they were free of the titans. But then gained all those memories and realized he wasnt free at all

jared

Totally; very valid; I can feel the inexorable power of the cycle of trauma and war they are all caught in so palpably I feel hard pressed to judge or blame anyone for almost anything

TheSauceGuy

If the ocean looked like that here, I'd be there all summer.

OoBeRoN Yordanov

i cant wait for the '' you will sometime''. moment. :D 1:25:45

Mckay’s aura is unmatched. Even when I can’t see him I just know he’s there, grinning like a menace.

Jean Racaillou

Sry didn’t get notification. It was during a juicy watch party

TheSauceGuy

I was more curious about Eren's time in Marley, but I think he could've had more moments that helped lead up to the finale.

Thelcia

Indeed! He was so loyal to eren and stayed by his side and his people’s. he is probabaly the most human character of them all. His so WELL written. I don’t get the hate.

Thelcia

Same! What are some takes you’ve seen that make absolutely no sense?

dimitris athanasiou

not OP, but most people find it really difficult to piece together the plot of S4 and specifically the politicking. Especially Tybur as a character is understood by maybe 5% of the fandom and Im not exaggerating, this is what my anecdotal experience has told me. For the record, he's not particularly hard to understand, you just have to pay very close attention to his scenes with Magath and that is it lol. People also don't understand Zeke's plotting and Eren going with Zeke's plan to instigate an international diplomatic incident that seals Paradis' "fate" into war. Eren was also putting pieces into play with Floch and Historia before he ever left for Marley. Eren *is* partially at fault for instigating the Declaration of War and Liberio, yet people miraculously think he waited until the last second where Tybur declares war before he did anything. Lol. In general, the whole "Paradis/Eren could do nothing but 100% kill everyone else on the planet" is prob the most stupid discussion in the fandom, and a lot of its roots come down to people fundamentally not understanding the politicking and realizing how much Eren is at fault. Zeke's role is also misunderstood, Kiyomi's role is also misunderstood. Etc etc. I'm curious how the Geks will discuss all this, as they are more pro-Eren and sympathetic to him, but they're not off-the-rails Jaegerists with dangerous beliefs I don't think. https://www.reddit.com/r/ShingekiNoKyojin/comments/1h3s97j/the_4_plans_of_season_4_full_description_and/ I recommend the above link for a concise presentation/explanation of some things if interested

dimitris athanasiou

Another triple drop, spoiling us... (I don't know if you'll discuss this as it might be spoilery, but the 4x5 conversation when you have full context is the definition of kino)

Nivek

Spoilers for first time watchers but.(kinda) In the first episode here I just realized how the islanders have made a pseudo-warrior candidate program, mimicking the Marleyians without even really knowing.

Levi's Teacup

ehh, you think? similar in the way they're cadets to a military but not much else. do explain, neat idea either way

aubrey

@Thelcia everything the previous reply said nails a lot of it! I also see a lot of really annoying takes about gabi’s character and the complete lack of sympathy people give her. not saying people have to love her, but the amount of times i’ve seen people claim she has zero parallels to eren and is a cruelly evil character with zero complexities or redemptive factors to her drives me insaaaane.

Nivek

It was ultimately the conversation with Floch and crew where they talk about who is worthy or really deserves to saved by the injection. This mirrors in some ways the tone in which the Marleyans refer to Eldians about who is worthy to give their lives for a cause and ideology that is truly not theirs

Nivek

They don’t have a whole “institute” around the idea but to the islanders it is preferable to pick the next generation of shifters rather than leave it up to chance that they be born on Marley as potential sympathizers

Brady

And now Dame tore his achilles, the Bucks are cursed

ruthyrooo

Beautifully written. It’s all juxtaposed with the beauty of the scenery: Armin’s narration of the coming of spring, coupled with such bittersweet music, then the silence as they come across the deformed infantile figure of the Titan, stopped in its tracks on its belly with its eyes open unable to wake from an endless nightmare... The sobering silence coupled with the anticipation of the Scouts as they ride across the sands, the only thing between them and the sea a wall where their people were brutally sentenced to purgatory…a place where we saw a man pointedly looked through Grisha and straight to us telling us that people enjoy seeing cruelty, and is proven right as we the viewers celebrate his ensuing gruesome death. The beauty and calming sounds of the sea, the playfulness of the Scouts, Armin’s curiosity and hope affirmed in the form of a conch, Mikasa’s innocent vulnerability and awkward smile as she encounters newness, followed by Eren’s desperate and sorrowful question that narrows our focus and extinguishes our joy. We see Mikasa’s declaration of hope flipped on us suddenly: “The world is beautiful but it is also very cruel.” The last scenes of this episode are storytelling at its finest. They really encapsulate the way art can cast a mirror on ourselves and how joy and grief are two sides of the same coin.

I would kill for that. 😂

Dani G

She ate Marcel.

jared

Hear hear, and likewise, beautifully written, thank you 🥹💗 storytelling at its finest; looking at us, through grisha; the juxtaposition with the beauty that surrounds them; I recall feeling that juxtaposition throughout the show, more subtlety, nagging at me, particularly in season one when the female titan first appeared on that scouting expedition; the beauty of the forest, and the horses; it's always been there, unable to be enjoyed because of the tension, anxiety and terror of what the characters have been dealing with, but in this sequence, it could finally, finally be brought forth and enjoyed; and even then; even here; tamped down and dampened by eren's sober awareness; so devastating

Jenny D

It's interesting seeing the other side. It's almost like watching a new show. This is really a great show. It shows how much history can be warped. As much as it's interesting seeing the other side I also want to see our main characters and what they are up to!

ruthyrooo

Great comparison! I would absolutely love to be in any of the forests on Paradis. they’ve got Redwood National Forests everywhere, I’d go nuts 😂

jared

So true, take me there!! Sort of lol; minus all the unimaginable terror guilt shame stress and loss 😭😵‍💫🌲

rri

i have the same birthday as petra’s 🙌🏼 levi being born in dec 25 is funny tho

Riya

Man I really wish they didn't use CGI so much with the titans. Another small complaint I have with Mappa is how the faces look of the characters, it doesn't look sharp like it did with WIT, i liked the noses/lips in the WIT animation too

ibrahim siblini

The titans of mappa are better than the titans of wit, I agree sometimes the CGI isnt that good but for example, CGI in ep 1 is really good tbf, for the faces mappa was more loyal to the manga, thats how their faces looked + the characters grew up sooo the difference can make some effect.

Riya

The titan fight in CGI doesn't feel smooth and fluid tbh, it feels robotic. And I understand the characters grew up, what I'm saying is how it doesn't look sharp, there is a difference in the design with the nose and lip looking bigger. WIT is way better

Uu

He's an evil guy but one of my favorite characters in aot definitely top 10

Chang NP

Why I can't watch the next Ep? I was paid 2 times of 3$ but it still lock both @@

leah

spoiler for the final movie!! idk if you guys ever picked up on this but when eren talks about beyond the sea, he says “fiery water, lands of ice, sandy snowfields” and in the final movie when eren is talking to armin alone in his head/through the paths, eren takes him to see fiery waters, lands of ice and sandy snowfields… those exact places are in the background of their conversation together (if that makes sense)

Chlo

I get extremely annoyed when people hate on gabi even after her character arc. like..... that's a brainwashed 12 yr old !!

Chlo

to further clarify, it's okay if people just don't like her, but what gets me really annoyed is when people act like her trauma and brainwashing don't play a part in why she is the way she is, and fail to try and empathize with her
