Kiyoh

3 episodes the goat delivers

Grae

Just finished the weak hero ep and now you drop this 🐐

Miitei

Amazing timing

GreetswithJudgement

😂 The comment in the video saying Reiner is the embodiment of fatherless behavior has me dying

Gestrid

I refreshed the page, and here it is!

Grxvity

Bradlynn fighting post AOT Demons LMAOO. Anyways do u think you and eve will be on the channel for another show?

Bradlynn Andrus

I told Carter we need to do “Converted Anime Haters Rewatch Attack on Titan” 😩 but also we’re dying to watch Vinland

Bradlynn Andrus

maybe that’s why I relate to him so much 😩🤭

Brady

just like the knicks’ playoff run

GreetswithJudgement

Nooo not the fatherless trauma! You’re so funny Bradlynn we love you around these parts 😂

Jude

Vinland is such a great pick. Are you guys going to react to the openings for AOT once you finish?

hman70

Finally the ep where Bradlynn’s faith in Connie gets rewarded. “To save the world” I’ve got chills and I haven’t even watched yet 😈

studiogek

Yeah were getting the girls to react and rank the intros and outros as well as doing a full series review since the day we finished the outro was a bit scuffed due to timing

GreetswithJudgement

Congratulations to Attack on Titan (The GOAT of GOATS) for winning the first ever Global Impact Award! Thank you Isayama and all participants for this masterpiece!

Nami Swannn

JEAN MY GOAT 🤍🤍🤍

Bradlynn Andrus

I’m wearing the cape you sent as we speak 😍

a_daichi

Bradlynn pleaseeee you and Eve need to watch Vinland!!! I’m also very much due for a rewatch

GreetswithJudgement

OMG you’re so freaking adorable. I love your Attack on Titan glaze! I’m glad you gave it a chance! I’m sure Carter loves that you love it! The Geks couldn’t have picked a better group of new watchers! 🥰

Kim 555

Good morning America

eve richards

i think we’ll love vinland

Sean Carroll

Eve looks so sad in the thumbnail hahahaha Was this the final watch through?

hman70

You’ll love noticing all the small differences but I bet you’ll be surprised by how faithful the show stayed—as well as how Isayama’s art improved over the course of the series and he grew as an artist. AoT’s success as a show is a testament to the love/resoect every contributor on the project had for the source material Tease: how Marco’s death is revealed in season 1 and the entire training arc/Trost arc are paced and spread out very differently in the manga 👀

Artemipsyche

AOT got me started and now I’m addicted…just a warning ⚠️

Nami Swannn

As much as I hate Floch, Eren really did manipulate and use him (and the Jaegerists in general) to hell and back just to achieve his own goals so I blame him in part for that mess…still not enough to draw sympathy from me but ya

eve richards

this show is peak depression 😔

Pham Hung

I'll be so tilted if Eve doesn't include Jean in her top three characters if they do a recap at the end. (I won't actually be upset; it's just that these three episodes especially highlight the depth of his character.) Reiner is fantastic, Zeke is also insanely written, and the mind-bender that is Eren's character. But I think Jean is Isayama's magnum opus, to be honest - he feels insanely real like an actual human being.

Levi

Alex Ramirez

1:00:28 It was Keith. I dont know if it gets revealed later but I know you guys are done with AoT already. It's gonna be bitter sweet when the last reaction drops because it's gonna be Brig's last reaction video 😭

Kae D. en

How about them Celtics tho

Brady

The reigning NBA champions you mean?

hman70

Was about to apologize to Carter because a couple episodes ago I predicted that he would skip the 4x23 post credits. I realized watching this that it would be impossible for him to skip it since there is essentially no gap between the Falco/Conny scene and the Levi/Hange reveal. But the MAD LAD still did it! The second the last piano note hit brother hit Next Episode like his *life depended on it* 😂😂

Kae D. en

You right, shoutout Celtics

hman70

You’re just adding value to the rewatch brother don’t ever change 😂 but there’s 5 people on the couch who have all seen the show before how does this keep happening where nobody catches it

Juanpa_20

Damn bro ain’t that deep

Connor O'Hara

This one had some of the best character development for our OG scouts.

hman70

Have to be considerate and realize that they were losing a team member and had to film all of these while they still had him, that’s why they binged the show. Be a little empathetic, of course they didn’t want to ruin any scenes for their friends

Zu

Will shake ass for Vinland rewatch with the girls

Zu

What is bro yapping about

hman70

The gek crew is all done with the show but there’s people here in the patreon who are watching for the first time with them so stay vague ✌🏻

Pham Hung

Also on Louise and Mikasa. Not one of AoT greatest writing beats, and admittedly a bit clunky, but the point was to make Mikasa look inward. Mikasa saved Louise just like how Eren saved her, and the almost creepy, uncomfortable devotion that Louise has for her was supposed to make Mikasa realize that maybe, just maybe, her debt to Eren has been paid tenfold, and that she is a person outside of her devotion to Eren. Using Brig's wise analogy, it's like if LeBron left his shoes but you wear them for the wrong reasons, and it's too big to fill anyway.

Gestrid

Honestly, I was surprised he skipped it, too. It's barely a post-credits scene since it starts literally right after the scene with Conny. Not to mention the fact that "To be continued" hadn't come up yet.

eve richards

jean is 1000000% in my top 3 dw

Grae

Crazy to think theres only 4 drops left 🙁

Melly

I actually really love these little full circle plots that AOT does.

jblakk

If AoT was longer, these chunks and the trainee arc at the very beginning of the series would be extended into arcs. But they would be the longest and clunkiest. Im okay with the sacrifice of those arcs for pacing purposes, but I do agree theres a bit lacking with them. (Same with the PIe scene in this batch)

Vanessa Barendregt

“You got Connie, Jean, Armin, Mikasa, Levi, Reiner, Annie, Hange……… Then you got Yelena”😂😂

TheSauceGuy

dw, AoT 3.0 can be next year

Grae

I never looked at it that way, its crazy you learn something new every time you rewatch this show.

Charybdis

Peak episodes. Are the girls coming back for more anime after AOT? They'd love Vinland for sure

Kasumii_

Bradlynn somehow always choosing to like characters that end up against each other is the funniest thing to me, girl can't catch a break with all her favs trying to kill each other

TheSauceGuy

the art gets better as the story progresses

TheSauceGuy

Vinland first, you guys need a break from AoT depression lol. I wonder which season you'll prefer of the two.

hman70

Personally love Louise’s screen time more on every watch. IMO her biggest parallel is Kaya, both young girls were inspired by the heroic women who saved them. Kaya learned to be a kind person who helps others, Louise learned that it’s sometimes okay to be ruthless and insubordinate if you believe your cause is just enough. Neither mentor intended to teach this lesson, but the younger generation learned by watching them all the same

Grxvity

I lowkey was curious if u eve and riley are or already have started watching ur own reactions to ur first time watching, I bet you would notice so much foreshadowing. Would be a peak rewatch😂

Artemipsyche

I needed this explanation! Idk how I never picked up on this, but it’s a parallel that does make sense. I think the awkwardness threw me off.

Artemipsyche

I am so excited for the last few drops, but I’m going to be so sad when it’s over 🥹

jblakk

I dont know if this was intentional, but I find it funny that in the end AoT managed to continue the masked Sensei trope that Kakashi, Gojo, Kisuke, and many more do with Levis image change.

Kyra Sun

I just love that you could feel the void that Erwin Smith has left on this show post s3. His death impacted on so many people in a variety of ways (good and bad) and how he’s influenced people even beyond death. He’s just that goated.

.

Annie I heard those words before 😭😭 Joel coded

jblakk

Im gonna miss Brigs NBA analogies :/

Ollie

Lmao Riley's face at 06:40

jared

"with the barrel of a gun in his mouth....he kills the part of himself his father's absence built;" dang; goated video, thank you Bradlynn!

Pham Hung

Jean is (not) a horse. Reiner is (not) Reiner. Armin is (not) Erwin. Mikasa is (not) Ymir. and, of course, the one that started it all: Eren is (not) free.

studiogek

Bradlynn’s asking for 3.0 to start right now💀

rainbow

i wonder if they watched the "The Last Attack" Movie Version 😭

Melly

Especially since it’s a pretty iconic reveal! I was more surprised NO ONE on the couch was like wait what, how did they meat Magath and the Cart Titan?? Must’ve missed something!

AR

Lmao

jared

Big same, thanks that's so interesting and totally missed that!

jared

Oh yay 😭🙌

Vallll

Vinland 2.0 with the girls!

Alex

I really want the girls to come back and for the whole gang to react to an anime none of them have seen yet! (the boys included). So maybe Parasyte: The Maxim would be really fun? OH actually Inuyashiki would be a wild one for everyone to watch together too XD

TheSauceGuy

We should've had another season for these sorts of things

TheSauceGuy

Lol, I love how confused Bradlynn looked when Magath and Pieck were standing in front of Levi and Hange; they forgot about the post credits again lol.

TheSauceGuy

Poor Louise, choosing Mikasa as her role model haha

BROCODEDUDE

You guys can just keep farming AOT. Expand the couch. Convert the haters. Dedicate your hearts.

TheSauceGuy

It's interesting how so many people have this visceral hatred for Floch in these episodes. I get why some people feel that way, but it's interesting how, of all the morally reprehensible people, Floch seems to be the one who evokes this reaction the most. Eren has triggered a mass genocide, but people still have hope for him haha.

Sean Carroll

That reveal happens later but yes they have finished by now

Ollie

She would then experience the craziness of the rewatch 😂 AOT rewatches, legit infinite money glitch 😎

Dani G

Nobody ever talks about how amazing episode 4x22 is! It has SO MANY great moments! Gabi saving Kaya thus bringing her redemption arc full circle and giving us closure on Sasha Shadis saving the Yeagerists because he cares about his trainees, even those that betrayed him. “We escape the forest.” - such a powerful throwback to arguably one of the BEST speeches in the series. The return of one of the most iconic songs from the old soundtrack. Jean’s leadership. We love how far he’s come! Pyxis’ death. Such a bittersweet moment. Armin’s farewell always makes my heart clench. Mikasa saving Louise once again. Another full circle. The start of Connie’s inevitable mental collapse. And the long awaited return of Annie. This episode is SO iconic, but because it follows arguably the best trio of episodes in the entire series, it’s overshadowed.

Alex Ramirez

Who is she proposing to start 3.0 with?

6

Jack is... increasingly grating. Jack:"[Eren] wants everyone to live in peace" That's why he wipes out 80 percent of the human populace, right Jack? What planet are you living on where Eren is some peacenik? How can anyone say this with a straight face? You’re superimposing your bizarre, philosophical priori onto a character that just doesn’t fit the bill.

Ollie

So awesome to see all the titans getting clapped compared to season 1

6

Can we hear more from Brig and Mckay? Their perspectives are usually more refreshingly nuanced. Their input would be appreciated.

Ollie

I know some people hate her but I actually love Gabi even more on rewatch 😂 the redemption arc

Callum B

Why are you so mad about someone having an opinion? Weirdo behaviour

Justin ⟢

I know he’s largely hated on by most of the fanbase but Floch ends up being one of the most intriguing characters in the show for me. He’s the only living person (besides Levi) to hear Erwin’s speech in 3x16 and you can see how much of an impact it has on him. On the surface, he tries to lead like Erwin but he ends up getting caught up in his own flawed interpretations and ideologies of survival and freedom. He adopts a fierce sense of patriotism and harbors a deep hatred for the outside world to the point where it can become oppressive to those around him. Such a well-written character.

TheSauceGuy

Removing the power of the titans is a net benefit for the world, but you're still left with people at the end of the day. People suck, and there will always be those that cause immense suffering for others.

6

Notice how you don't even attempt to point to "1), 2), and 3) in the series would support Jack's perspective on Eren". Instead, you take issue with critique. What Jack's saying is not based in reality. To that extent he's basically lying about Eren to Bradlyn and Eve. To honestly analyze Eren would be to arrive at pretty uncomfortable conclusions..

TheSauceGuy

seems like they're considering vinland

TheSauceGuy

Why does everyone hate Yelena? I'll never really understand lol. She's weird and we don't get much development from her, but that's about it.

TheSauceGuy

Lmao, the more they skip, the more they get to see in AoT 3.0 (if they don't skip the same things again).

Dani G

Floch may be a lot of things, but he is very well written. His villain arc is excellent.

TheSauceGuy

@Pham Hung Reiner: I want to kill myself

TheSauceGuy

he's saying they don't talk enough, but when they do, they spit

TheSauceGuy

You could get your point across without being douchey about it.

Dani G

Falco is just an angel. Baby boy. 😭

TheSauceGuy

well now he's just gonna do one episode per upload

TheSauceGuy

I like Floch as a character, but I think he could've benefited from another season of development. I've said this for several other characters, but we don't see much of Floch's development in general; he only becomes significant late in S3.

TheSauceGuy

I highly doubt they did, but we can hope! If not, that's something for 3.0. They better not skip an ounce of content for AoT 3.0 😭

TheSauceGuy

Imagine if Floch had his S3 haircut and was acting like this

andythesaladgod

One is the MC while the other is one of the most overtly hitlerite characters in popular shonen it’s not hard to see why people hate him so viscerally while still holding out hope for Eren

Dani G

True, but I think pre-time jump and post-time jump Floch line up well.

Ollie

"Lying" is a bit crazy tho, he's just stating an opinion and his thoughts 😂

Dani G

The whole thing with the Yeagerists really reminds me of the French Revolution. One regime uprooted for another with yet again a dictator at the helm. The very party that was supposed to have brought liberty to France merely reinstated the same brand of tyranny.

Dani G

These episodes really highlight how fantastic Jean’s character arc is. From the early days of presenting himself as this selfish jerk who only cared about himself and wanted the easy life to his evolution into someone whose good heart and integrity superceded that selfishness, and Marco being the tipping point for that redemption, he’s just such a wonderful character. I loved him instantly from day one, because I could see he was so much more than what was on the surface, and that was soon proven right. He only became more amazing as the series progressed. He’s not just a good character; he’s a good man.

Ollie

Which soundtrack, Bauklotze? I thought that was cool too, I love how initially it's just the instrumental and then it kicks in and it slaps. I also felt the same about Gabi and Kaya's moment and the throwback to Sasha and the forest, it's so meaningful and definitely one of my favourite underrated moments. Yeah this Ep is amazing.

Dani G

Well, I’m actually talking about Barricades, but Bauklotze is a masterpiece for obvious reasons. The OG soundtrack AND the new one are both SO DAMN good. Every piece captures the tone and emotion of every scene it’s backdropped against. I honestly love Gabi. Her character arc is in my top five of this series, even if she as a character is not in my top five favorites. Her arc is so well written and gave us some of my favorite moments in this series. The Braus family subplot is so good.

Dani G

I really love the detail of the Eldian citizens celebrating the rumbling because of their understandable hatred towards Marley in the same vein that Marley similarly celebrated the deaths of Eldians for the Eldians’ sins against them. You can so clearly see where the hate begins from both sides and how it ultimately led to the masses cheering on what is essentially genocide. Everything is cause and effect set by a chain of events caused by one king’s hubris.

Charybdis

It makes me sad so many people here hate Gabi with a passion because she's actually a well written character. In my top 5 for sure.

Charybdis

that'd be huge I'm so down for it

Charybdis

Floch's barber is so foul for that 💀

rayman

no one would follow him then 💀

rayman

Jean is one of my favorite characters in the show. he honestly gets some of the most complete development along with Reiner, and it happens the whole 4 seasons. he turns into a true honest leader by S4

Dani G

Absolutely! He’s in my top three and always has been.

Pudding

Ooo what a good point!

Pudding

I actually didn't really like Gabi on my first two watches, and now on my third I love her😭 It's like an eye-opening moment for me, I see how sweet she is now, I'm a Gabi lover! I might even put her in my top 5 as well. One of the best character developments in the show.

M1GZ

BOYS yet another post credit scene skipped what's going on lol

Pudding

Poor Reiner tho, man's just depressed and devastated, but he forces himself to keep going😭

Andrasi Alex

What Carter said about how scary it’d be to live in the AOT world, especially seeing the Rumbling is so true. Kane Pixels made some videos showing what it might look like as old footage. There are a few, but this 5-minute one is the best. Definitely worth checking out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmWo2zG99e4

M1GZ

HAHA I love this video really hope one of the girls ends up watching it.

James Wilson

Bittersweet that’s it’s coming to an end, I get so much enjoyment watching people react to this show. Next thing I’m looking forward to is a Castlevania reaction…someday

LuvStarburst

Their spirits have been lifted so thats good.

The RZA

About the pie. What they are eating is a meat pie which, depending on which recipe, can TOTALLY be eaten like a thiccc pizza slice.

jrnoodles

Thanks GeksDeluxe! I'm not ready for this rewatch to end.

Alex Mercer

This is a flashback irl 😭

Miitei

It wouldn't be Studio Gek without a missed post credit scene 🤣

Sean Carroll

Because yelena is a psycho and basically always had intentions to go against the group. She never saw them as friends like some of the other volunteers did. She also has no care for the other group showcases by her not giving a shit when she thought zeke killed Levi and hange

Garreth

To you, in 2 weeks

lyss

dont jinx it pls...

LeFlaneur

Were Reilly and Brig able to finish the reaction?

McKay Carter

What are you even saying? 😂

Bisky

Gabi is my goat

Jenny D

Great reactions! I hate Floch. He plays the villain well, but he is going off the rails. I like Conny and I get that he wants to save his mom, but I don't think she would have wanted to become the jaw Titan. I don't think he really would have gone through with it, but I'm glad Armin and Gabi got there in time. I really liked Bradlynn's analysis on what's going on and what each person's mental state is. I'm excited for the next set of episodes. I'm sad we're almost done though. :(

Brady

When I'm in a "Skip Every Post-Credits Scene" Competition and my opponent is Carter 😳

Dasha

- "I was the wrong person to bring to life" - "facts" 😭😭😭

Jenny D

Oof! A lot! I started watching anime back in my later years of elementary school. But, I got behind as I got older. I have so many anime on my list. I started watching it more again after following your channel. But, I've watched a lot of the big ones. Like Inuyasha, Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, etc. It's been fun watching with you guys. I've watched some anime I normally wouldn't have and enjoyed it.

Dasha

Mikasa’s conversation with Louise and that quiet “gomen” to Armin gets me every time. She’s so hollow and worn down. Others like Jean and Reiner are in a similar state, but with Mikasa it’s shown in a way that feels uniquely tormenting

TheSauceGuy

I mean, one is committing mass genocide (on a larger scale than Hitler) and the other is simply following him. Floch is no angel, but he's more like a generic fascist general than full-blown Adolf Hitler. I don't think motives matter much in comparison to their actions at this point. For this reason, Eren evokes much more of a visceral feeling of disgust from me. Not only does his character arc feel less natural than Floch's (despite what little we're given of the latter), but his actions are far worse. It's worse, too, because I feel Eren knows his actions are not necessary, and he still triggers the Rumbling. Floch seems to truly believe that Eren's actions are the only way to guarantee their freedom. Also, Floch was motivated in the worst ways by Erwin, whom so many AoT fans admire. Erwin is inspired by a famous German general in the North African campaign of WWII (Erwin Rommel). I won't say the two are exactly comparable, but they're more comparable than Floch and Hitler, from what I've read.

TheSauceGuy

Annie needs that protein

TheSauceGuy

Crazy to think that this entire story wouldn't have happened if the last King Fritz hadn't ended the war. His desire to create peace inevitably caused some freak to trample the planet.

TheSauceGuy

yeah, but there's so much meat that could've been in between, it'd make Sasha have a heart attack

Dani G

It also wouldn’t have happened if the original King Fritz wasn’t such an evil tyrant.

jared

I was struck this time around by a parallel between the mindlessness of pure titans and the futility of begging for mercy from them, which we see so many times throughout AOT, and which to me is one of most horrifying things in the show to imagine; and the mindlessness of the jaegerists, in general, but specifically in the scene with Yelena and onyakapon on their knees (that's just the scene where the parallel hit me). That horror of being at the mercy of someone or someone's who are mindless in some way, incapable of mercy, incapable of even caring about or comprehending your plight; and you are utterly powerless and you can't break through to them no matter what you try. This is also shown with the eldians in Marley held at their mercy and receiving none. It also makes me think of Aarfy from Catch 22 if anyone's read that; his character utterly horrifies me for the same reason. There are just so many different aspects and facets to AOT and somehow Isayama fit them together so elegantly, it's just unreal; one analysis video I've seen talked about how Zeke and Eren are explorations of nature (Eren) vs. nurture (Zeke), and the concept of being held at the mercy of a dream ("everyone had to be drunk on something to keep pressing on") and the paradoxical need to transcend that to be truly free, and to be actually aligned with anything truly helpful or morally right; paradoxical I guess because the power of a dream can be a driving force without which one might not be able to move forward at all in the face of despair and overwhelming odds; but that very driving force can be a trap that compels you to act in a way that feeds into the very cycles of pain you are trying to transcend; which is shown over and over again throughout AOT; then there's the related idea of leaving the forest, or trying to leave, even if we can't, as Nicolo says; that there's a devil in all of us, no one's purely evil or purely innocent, and getting revenge in the name of justice for one round of atrocities necessarily leads into the next round, and you just have to stop it, at some point, or try, and get the children out; and every adult that's part of it is a child that no other adult was able to save from that cycle; and every single character is a case study in some related facet or another that is so profound; I feel overwhelmed trying to hold it all in my mind even on my fifth or sixth rewatch, I can't even remember what I'm on; this is almost all I've been thinking about for about three years

TheSauceGuy

It's not uncommon in the real world for one of the oppressed to become the oppressor. We're typically taught "revenge is bad" and/or "retaliation is childish," but this will not stop everyone from acting on these desires. Post WWI, Germany faced large reprecussions, which crippled the nation. Germany was also forced to take responsibility for the war by the victors. Both of these factors created resentment and instability within Germany that allowed for extremist groups to gain popularity, which was a significant contributing factor in sparking the events that would lead to WWII. Hitler's rise to power was something that almost certainly would not have happened if Germany hadn't been punished so severely. The plight of the Eldians is far more significant and extreme, but AoT does this to make their actions seem LESS insane. The Eldians are not like any race/ethnicity in our world, as they can be turned into (unmetaphorical) monsters. This ability was used to subjugate the world for thousands of years. It's unlikely that Eldians would have faced the same harsh levels of oppression on a global scale if they didn't have this ability. Anyway, Paradis was already under a fascist regime before season 4, but Historia used her power after the coup to change things for the better. Unfortunately, Eren's actions led to the growth of a new fascist faction, which ultimately undoes some of these reformations. With the island's new and limited knowledge of the world, feelings of racial supremacy, xenophobia, and imperialism begin to develop. The Jaegerists use these feelings to their advantage and help make them more prevalent among the island's population. In the end, both groups slaughter and displace massive populations of people who had nothing to do with their suffering in the first place. This retaliation in general just furthers the cycle of violence, regardless of who is being targeted.

jared

Specifically I was struck by that parallel between the jaegerists and pure titans when onyonkapon made his comment that all that would be left in the wake of his home country's destruction was "xenophobic shits" like the jaegerists he was addressing; and the view we're shown is just a sea of them looking back at him with these goonish triumphant grins, just a mindless malicious mob; and I thought, wow they're just like pure titans in this state. Also it occurs to me that in addition to the abstract philosophical backdrop of getting out of the forest, ie the intergenerational cycles of violence hate and retribution, there's also the practical issue of trying to survive (granted this is only a problem because of said aforementioned cycle); and then the moral quandary of whether survival is even justified; whether because of past transgressions, or, because of present day implications, ie, if I survive, that poses an existential threat for this other group; and these quandaries are portrayed on an individual and a global scale; and all of this is being explored at the same time and is interrelated. Ahhh

jared

And THEN there's the issue of being special; is or isn't one special, and does that matter; in season 3 before the confrontation with Zeke reiner and bertolt, on the steps with Mikasa and Armin, Eren says when he discovered he was a titan shifter he took it as natural, it fit his concept of his own destiny, but his perspective shifted over time; that even as powerful as his titan form is, and Mikasa and Levi are, they can't do much on their own in the grand scheme; so, I guess, the relationship between having power and being special, is or isn't one special, does or doesn't one need to be special to justify their existence; and of course we get that echoing refrain: "because I was born in this world," ie, I *don't need to be special to justify my existence. These are all the things bouncing around in my head I know this isn't related to this batch of episodes I'm just crashing out at the thematic interrelatedness 😵‍💫

dimitris athanasiou

Since the girls seem to be in a post AOT depression/video binge mood, I HIGHLY recommend checking out the pinned post on Attack on Titan or Shingeki no Kyojin subreddits. There's a billion links for analysis of any AOT topic you could think of, can't praise it enough!

dimitris athanasiou

Feels bad for Mikasa these episodes, it's heartbreaking. A lot of people hate on her for these episodes, especially the Louise interaction, but that's usually bias since they already dislike the character or find her annoying and/or don't understand the interaction. I think the shot where she's trying to sleep and is crying is especially sad. Considering how her world has turned upside down so quickly, she seems to be holding out the best which is admirable. That's my goat Mikasa, but I still feel for the girl, because you understand she's hurting deeply underneath.

dimitris athanasiou

Cook, the way so many themes are so organically intertwined in the narrative is absurd, one thing causes your mind to jump to the next and it's sometimes overwhelming. The thing is AOT is really short for the amount of things it tackles so it's insanely impressive how dense it is

dimitris athanasiou

Something else in regards to these episodes that might go unnoticed: the reason why Eren can't control the Pure Titans and Armin's questioning of it is a somewhat underrated setup line imo that gets forgotten about. Way I view it I think it's meant to be a setup for (SPOILERS) Eren's line in the finale about how the Founders Powers have messed up his head and has very limited conscious ability over what he can and cannot manipulate. I think it was a neat explanation that allows the action setpiece of Thaw to happen with all the character stuff and full circle moments that are so great.

TheSauceGuy

It's interesting how every nation is seemingly united against Paradis when they can essentially push a button to trigger the apocalypse. I've expressed how I don't think Eren explored alternatives very well, but these other nations are just as bad. You'd think many of the world's nations would be coming to Paradis to find diplomatic solutions, rather than the other way around. I've also expressed that the world's hatred for Eldians is somewhat understandable given their history, but I still don't think it's very realistic to be something so widespread and strong that diplomacy is barely even explored. It comes across as the world collectively going "Paradis could trample the planet, my home, my family, and myself at literally any moment! Let's go provoke them because our hatred drives us more than our love for our families, friends, and even our will to live!" I guess Eren kind of did everything he could to reduce the chances of diplomacy by destroying Liberio after Tybur's speech. It's pretty frustrating to me how AoT introduces all of these complex themes later in the series, only to use plot convenience to cover many of them at a surface level.

momma

HURRY UPPP :((( ( btw when yall upload the next one are you doing the last 4 all together then the movies? )

momma

vvvvvvvv Floch HATE button..

So true; thank you dimitris!! I thought of another lol! The conflict between personal attachment and doing the moral thing, like choosing to save the person you're attached to (Armin, for Eren and Mikasa, by eating Bertolt; Connie's mom by eating Falco, for Connie; and all of Eren's friends via the rumbling, for Eren) vs. who is more strategically valuable to save, which is more moral because it'll save more lives (ie Erwin, Pyxis, Falco to keep Gabi Pieck and Magath aligned); or, in the case of the rumbling, literally the rest of the human race

dimitris athanasiou

As far as the world knows, Paradis are hostile and as soon as someone steps onto the island, it's game over. It's not worth taking the risk. Only Marley knows it's not as dire as that due to the Tyburs knowledge, hence their original mission. Hizuru only even approached Paradis because Zeke was a mediator and he knew enough to convince her it was safe and profitable, unlike the rest of the world, who sees no practical reason to even approach them beyond vague hopes of forming an alliance against Marley, but to them, they're as much an enemy that's even more volatile/dangerous. Maybe there could be more nations attempting it, but there could also just not be. Either works just fine for the circumstances of the story. And yeah Eren himself fucked the situation up, but that's pretty obvious to most people.

fyre

carter keeps skipping the post credit scenes. there’s legit only like 3 in the whole season and 2 have been skipped. :(

TheSauceGuy

Tybur said Eren could begin the Rumbling at any moment. If the Rumbling could have been triggered at any moment, you'd think more of the world might've questioned why it hadn't already. You'd also think more would have considered that doing anything to provoke Eren would not work in their favor. Hostages can allow people to make demands, and Eren essentially had the entire world hostage. Was attempting a discussion really "not worth taking the risk" when the alternative was the Rumbling? Was an offensive gamble against the island less of a risk than sending unarmed representatives? A failed offensive would essentially guarantee the Rumbling, unlike diplomatic efforts. The fact that Hizuru was the ONLY nation to ever attempt diplomatic efforts doesn't make much sense, especially considering they were more interested in the profit incentive than anything else.

TheSauceGuy

Skipping most of the post-credits scenes and OVAs while talking about potentially watching Attack on Titan: Junior High hurts my soul. I'm all for it, but it still hurts lol.

S Moonchild⁷

It is my first full rewatch since the show ended. And I just have to tell you, I don't think I will be able to watch the ending, it hurts even to think about it. Usually if I watch parts of AoT, I stop at episode 21. I am not ready to be crushed again. I can't explain this feeling..

Sam M

Floch deserves some respect. He just wants to save his family and friends from a bloodthirsty world who wants them dead. Plus it's not like he's doing anything uniquely bad considering Hange's out there murdering her own scouts and Connie almost murdering an innocent child.

dimitris athanasiou

By the time we reach Tybur's speech, we've already reached the point of no return in terms of what can be done. There really isn't any diplomatic relationships that can happen, and I think we can agree on that. So I don't think discussing that is super relevant imo. Tybur exposing the actual current situation on Paradis happens so late and by the time countries would have had any time to form a plan, the attack happens and we're basically racing into war. Before that, it's basically what I said in my previous comment. Why would countries risk it? Think real life, and something like the Sentinelese island, but except spears, they have a nuke that can destroy your country and the whole planet. What diplomatic relations are you going to attempt with that? It's not about attempting diplomacy before an offensive just in case either, because until Tybur speech an offensive wasn't even in the cards for the rest of the world because they were scared of the retaliation, only Marley who knew better than the rest attempted it with their warrior mission. The rest of the world has already been fed the notion that Paradis is super hostile like the Sentinelese are, and that it wants to be left alone, and only the Tyburs know otherwise, and they don't share that information until it is too late. Regarding Hizuru, what I said before still applies. Hizuru has very specific reasons for approaching Paradis, they wouldn't even attempt it without Zeke being a mediator and letting them know the situation and how to approach it. It's implied Kiyomi has spies in Marley so she'd probably be privy to Tybur's information that Paradis isn't actually that scary if Zeke wasn't gonna tell her either.

Jack Dan

Just wondering will MHA be dropping today?

Conk

yes

Conk

Are you comparing what Hange did to what Floch is doing? He literally caused Hange to die because he wants the genocide to not stop. lolol

Conk

and Hange was literally fighting for Levis life from those freaks lol, they wanted to kill Levi. And just because Connie almost killed Falco doesn't mean Floch deserves any respect, he's out here killing people because they won't bow down to him. ARE THESE THE TYPE OF PEOPLE YOU RESPECT???

Ollie

Floch may have his reasoning and I get his motivations, but he really seems to enjoy killing people and making them submit. That's one of the reasons I think he gets so much hate.

studiogek

yes, i forgot about it, will be up asap

Ollie

You might need some time. But I have to say, after having some time to heal and then rewatch and watch these guys' first reaction I managed to recover and appreciate every little part of this show. It is very hard though and I understand that all too well, especially if it resonates with you.

Riley

just because you have a reason doesn’t mean it’s okay to do it. media literacy is dead

TheSauceGuy

Erwin's feats were often gambles that resulted in the needless deaths of soldiers (and sometimes civilians) for "the greater good of humanity," when we're shown this wasn't his real reasoning. We were finally shown Erwin's guilt surfacing in his conversation with Levi. Erwin already had a mountain of corpses beneath him, and to bring him back after leading almost every living Scout to their deaths might've proven too much for him. With this guilt, we don't know if Erwin would have had the same drive to continue his role as commander once his dream was complete, or if he'd have even wanted to be brought back in the first place.

TheSauceGuy

Marley's rush to attack is part of my point. In doing that, they are the ones who ensured the Rumbling happened only several days after the speech. Even Eren thinks to himself, "Only you could convince Marley to do something this stupid," in reference to Reiner convincing them to attack. The North Sentinel Island analogy isn't comparable. Marley knew that their recon ships hadn't returned, but I don't think the world did. The world WAS AWARE that Marley was sending pure titans to the island, which many nations took issue with. Would this not constitute "threatening the peace" that King Fritz mentioned? Considering this, I don't think they'd feel as if attempts at communication would risk the Rumbling. A valid concern would be the pure titans on the island itself, as the world likely wasn't aware that they'd been eliminated. With that, we can segue into the island's approach. Paradis had four years to communicate with the outside world in any capacity, but they seemed primarily focused on communicating through the Azumabito (who were primarily focused on the profit incentive). Before the speech, it's more up to Paradis to create some sort of understanding and/or communications network. They were willing to sacrifice countless people to combat the titans, but they couldn't send a few individuals to other nations? It has to be a mutual effort, but we're not even given the names of other nations, so it's fairly clear that Paradis wasn't fully exploring their options.

studiogek

One could say i'm the Lebron of not seeing aot post credit scenes

TheSauceGuy

What aspect of it crushed you? I certainly get the passion/emotion that you can have for a series. I'll tear up or get this feeling in my throat/chest sometimes when characters are showing intense sadness or frustration; sometimes it happens over the dumbest things that I'd never expect. Regardless of whether or not the characters are real, it's perfectly okay to have emotional reactions sometimes; try to understand that those emotions are okay and temporary. If it's too overwhelming, it might be beneficial to explore coping mechanisms for "negative" emotions. If you're dealing with overwhelming emotions in your personal life already and don't want to add on top of them, it's fine to hold off until you're ready. It's actually healthy to cry to release pent-up emotions. Personally, I sometimes seek out movies/shows/games/music that might make me feel intense sadness, because I struggle to outwardly express it normally. I can only cry naturally if an event triggers past trauma, which rarely ever happens. I've had family members pass, and while I felt sadness and/or regret, I couldn't cry even though I wanted to. I guess I'd describe it as the crying version of feeling like you sneeze, but you can't lol. Meanwhile, some demon's backstory from Demon Slayer will make me cry lol. The human mind is a very strange thing haha, but I wish you luck.

TheSauceGuy

Just like mass murderers (insert majority of significant characters)

TheSauceGuy

Imagine someone starting to watch the Geks after this show's reaction is over, and not going back to watch older reactions, so they just have no clue who this Brig guy is.

Sean Carroll

While I love flochs character. He did have people beat up shadis, he also did kill a volunteer for something as small as a disagreement and he was about to execute onyonkopon simply for not wanting to kluge under their rule. Floch is definitely much worse. Hange was shooting people who were pursuing her and Levi to kill them. This is called self defense. Conny is a tortured soul who saw an opportunity to bring his mother back and while it is terrible what he planned to do at least we can understand it. You are very clearly biased towards the yaegerists and don’t have a semblance of nuance in your brain

Sean Carroll

There is actually one more in ep 27, I guarantee Carter forgot that one as well

jared

@Gobbo lolll!!!

jared

@TheSauceGuy Loll 😭😭😭

I never thought about the fact that he's the only person alive besides Levi to hear Erwin's speech wow

Slizzle

Mikasa’s story is so sad, I’m not ready to watch the ending again 😞

Slizzle

Bruh it took them 2 years for 2.0, we might be 80 by the time they drop 3.0 or more aot content lol

Nanami's Wife

I don't know if anyone has said it before, but I strongly believe if Erwin was alive the whole wine thing wouldn't have happened. He definitely would've suspected something.

Sam M

I thought this was an innocuous comment, but holy smokes the presumptuous replies. Reading comprehension genocided. My point wasn’t Floch good, Alliance bad; my point was everyone’s done “bad” things, yet Floch’s the only one catching flak. What Floch does is absolutely comparable to the main cast’s actions. Hange and Levi took joy in revenge-mutilating and torturing Sannes—“Who the hell tortures without asking questions?” You could call it self-defense since they needed to save Eren, whose power kept them safe. Sound familiar? Floch’s actions follow the same logic. Both sides are defending their own, and that’s the beauty of it—showing the messy, cyclical nature of these conflicts. I could give more examples, and for every tit you throw at Floch, I can toss a tat at the Alliance, but that misses the point of both the show and my whole argument. It’s another core theme: everyone has understandable reasons that make them look like monsters to the other side. Floch’s no different. Demonizing him, as a character and an in-universe person with human motivations, is ironically unempathetic and missing the point. Floch doesn’t want the world wiping out him and his people—understandable. Armin and friends don’t want to genocide the world—also understandable. I don’t blame you guys for seeing it differently btw, the show’s rigged to make you feel that way. No creepy Hange smile with villain music to set off your bad-guy alarm. Tried to respond to everyone at once so apply what's applicable. I agree Ollie you're alright don't go to patreon comments tomorrow

hman70

Gotta hit the triple double King, if you didn’t skip the 4x27 post credit you fell off

Sam M

This is my favorite show in the whole world but these are probably the 3 worst episodes of the whole show. At least bottom 10

Charybdis

They don't call him ERGOAT for nothing

S Moonchild⁷

The ending is good, but is the worst part of the show. It has concluded logically and writing is okay, but everything feels off about the Rumbling and the team trying to stop it. It feels like all the tragedy of the show made Eren cause rumbling and everyone involved in making all this mess unites to stop it with Eren's friends. I wish the show explored other alternatives for the ending, but I wasn't able to think of one.

DontFailArtSchoolEren

Dr Grisha murdering women and children of the royal family deserves some respect.

DontFailArtSchoolEren

It would've been better if Armin and Connie hugged Annie after finding out shes alive and ready to help commit more mass murder.

Goatchis

Agreed, this and a stretch in season 1 post plugging the hole are the only consecutive episodes I don't care for

Tony Garcia

The amount of hate floch gets drives me insane. It’s just funny to me that just because we know eren people are quick to justify or simply accept mass genocide “for the greater good” but floch kills those who oppose him or eren is “the worst” imo floch is just tired of his people getting killed and ruled over. And he’ll do literally what ever is necessary to ensure Eldias survival and rule. YES imo GENOCIDE is worse than murder or multiple murders.

Tony Garcia

Floch is doing what he believes is necessary to ensure eldia is the only group of people to rule the “new world” he isn’t going off the rails. Consider how eren could just destroy the worlds armies but nah he goes the genocide route. That’s going more off the rails

Tony Garcia

Thank you. He’s so underrated by so many. The development of his character is so well done. I love it.

Tony Garcia

Im one of the few who supports floch. So I get you

Jenny D

Floch is going off the rails. He is okay with what Eren is doing. Eren and Floch both think that killing off all those people will make the world better. Plus he's decided that he's somehow Eren's spokesperson. I'm not justifying Eren's actions. He too is going off the rails. I'm not saying that they don't have a right to be angry or save their people, but there may be people on the other side who want peace and would be willing to end the war.

kiiturii

brother most of the floch fans are those who agree with Eren lol. They basically are floch Floch haters aren't the ones who also agree with Eren Also also, just because something is worse than something else, doesn't make that other thing fine ALSO ALSO you can't say what Eren is doing is worse than what floch is doing, because what Floch is doing is directly in support of Eren, meaning he's a direct accomplice of genocide.

Juanpa_20

Having opinions are illegal now 🤨

Tony Garcia

For the most part tho people hate floch but support eren that’s where the insanity is to me lol floch is literally eren stop glazer 😂 Genocide is worse than murder tho. Doesn’t make murder okay. I’m just talking in general. Also also. Floch has no ability to control the rumbling. So you can’t say he’s helping in the genocide it’s all Eren. Floch is like Human Resources or management to erens plan.

Tivy

The girls are incredibly intelligent and media literate, it’s been great listening to their takes. Their discussions over the past two seasons especially have been so thoughtful and nuanced. They’ve brought up so many great points and you can tell they’re really engaging with the story on the right level unlike so many surface-level watchers who can’t handle how complex the story is

TheSauceGuy

Plenty of Floch haters minimize what Eren did while simultaneously making what Floch did seem more significant. Floch may have supported Eren, but Eren is the one willingly trampling the planet, so Eren is the clear greater evil. I don't hate any characters in the show, but I do dislike how some of them act, of course lol. Out of any character, Eren's makes me feel the most disgusted/frustrated, but that's more because I think his development in S4 is not particularly great. I have gripes with Mikasa's character, but they don't frustrate me to the level that Eren does because Mikasa remains (relatively) stagnant as a character for the majority of the story.

Sam M

Incredible username artschooleren lmao

dimitris athanasiou

I could see an argument for Pride being mediocre, but Thaw and Sunset are great episodes, there's plenty of important stuff in there that's good.

Tony Garcia

It’s because Eren is our mc. So people will overlook his faults. I actually like erens story from start to finish. I have gripes with Levi as a character 😂

TheSauceGuy

If Erwin even had the will to live after being brought back, it'd depend on whether or not he still had the will to maintain his role as a commander. His guilt was getting to him, and his dream would've been accomplished. It's also possible he'd get killed in a way similar to Dhalis Zachary. We truly do not know, but I believe that if he did have the drive to continue, he'd have tried to keep a tighter grip on his soldiers. Without the power vacuum that he essentially left, perhaps he would have prevented the Jaegerists from being able to gain power, or even form. Floch would potentially be a very different character, and if Erwin had alternative ideas, Floch may have gone down a different route. In this case, the Jaegerists wouldn't have been as organized even if they were to form. Despite Erwin's gambles causing needless deaths, I don't think he'd be for the Rumbling either. Since Hange would still be alive, she could still help modernize Paradis while Erwin was reigning in his subordinates. What's interesting is that Armin has more often been the one to spot minute details and swiftly take action based on his observations, but he simply doesn't do that often in S4. Perhaps his feeling that the enemy was defeated on the island allowed him to get too comfortable. Considering this, it's also likely that Erwin's character, even if still driven, would have been written in such a way that not much changes.

TheSauceGuy

bro's gonna upload The Last Attack and then skip the post-credits scene

Sam M

SauceGuy These are probably great episodes by normal standards, but I'm judging them by Aot standards. One big issue I have is Connies entire existence. Beyond that, there are parts that are good in concept but have some issues with execution, and parts that are fine in execution but lacking in concept. Things I like in concept but lack in execution for me: - The Gabi-Kaya saving scene. Felt too dramatic too fast and out of nowhere, not enough build up or transition time - Shadis saving the recruits and them guiltily following him. Felt emotionally out of place and just weird sequentially - The Pixis send off felt very rushed and shoe-horned and even worse that they never even mention him again - Annie and Hitch dialogue. Felt weird considering Annies circumstances - The above points could mostly be done better with a bit more time to focus on them but the time was instead wasted on Connies pointless and untimely side quest Things I didn't like in concept: - Connie - Every scene Connie's in - Annie eating (Connie's in it) - "Let's save the world" Greatest parts - Jean - Floch - Armins stressful and honest conversation with Mikasa

TheSauceGuy

Alright, mega Floch post time. It seems a lot of Floch's hate revolves around how he doesn't seem to show remorse for what he's doing; he fully embraces the "devil" he must become. This is different from others like Hange, who shows sadness over killing her former comrades. What's interesting is that Erwin was primarily motivated by selfish ideals and felt guilty (even if he repressed it and still acted anyway) over the needless deaths he caused; Floch is motivated by the survival of the island, and he causes needless death without showing any remorse. I would've enjoyed it if Floch portrayed himself as "doing what is necessary for the greater good," but simultaneously showing vulnerability and guilt for his actions. I imagine he would attempt to hide this from his comrades, but it could be caught by one of the OGs like Armin or something. This would make him seem more reminiscent of Erwin, albeit in a more corrupted state. Maybe he does deep down, but he has done an even better job at repressing it than Erwin. Regardless, as it stands, I think his character is fine. Unlike Eren, whom we spend much more time watching throughout the series, I don't think I can say Floch's development as a character feels out of line. I still disagree with his actions, and understand how people would find him dislikeable because of them. I do think it's odd how so many people minimize the significance of Eren's actions while hating on Floch, but I think that's likely a result of main character bias. Floch was simply an eager recruit in S3, but his eagerness turned to horror after witnessing the harsh realities of war/conflict. He was afraid and wanted to disobey Erwin's orders (it's shocking not a single person was shown to have stayed behind btw), but Erwin's speech motivated him to sacrifice his own life. Why sit by and wait for almost certain death instead of fighting for a chance at the future that those before you fought and died for? Upon surviving, he resents Erwin for convincing so many to die, with their last feelings likely being fear and regret, in what he felt was a meaningless charge. Floch questions why only he and Erwin survived over everyone else; he wants to kill Erwin, but he feels he doesn't deserve the mercy of death at his hand. It's only when Floch sees Levi after having bested the Beast Titan in combat that his thought process changes. Floch believes that while the human sacrifice was immense, their deaths were a necessary evil. Their sacrifice ensured that the lives of those lost before them were not in vain; humanity could continue its fight for survival. With this new mentality, Floch wants his survival to have a greater purpose, so he attempts to "bring back the devil" because "the only one who can lay waste to the titans is a devil." When Armin is chosen by Erwin, Floch questions his survival; he believes humanity has gained knowledge of the outside world, but lost the one who could allow them to survive to see it. He also holds onto the belief that people shouldn't be manipulated into joining the military without having a true understanding of their purpose. By season 4, Floch was exhibiting the qualities of a leader, and he'd become braver and more confident. He even got rid of that yee yee ass haircut. While he certainly was not Erwin, he'd somewhat embodied the devil he saw in him. He had become desensitized to death, viewing the survival of the nation as more important than anything else. I'd have preferred if we had another season or two to cover much of the four-year time skip, not just for Floch's development, but for the betterment of the series as a whole. There wouldn't have to be nonstop action for the season to be enjoyable, at least for those who care more about the story than just the action.

Sam M

Excellent post

TheSauceGuy

Besides the Connie stuff, it seems like most of your issues are with pacing, which I can somewhat agree with. I think another season, or perhaps even another two, were needed to make AoT the best it could be. It's my favorite series, but S4 crams way too much into such a short runtime.

Charybdis

It took a rewatch to realize how real Jean and Conny are.

Levi's Teacup

I'm beginning to consider the idea that Jean is the best character in the show. (I've watched the show like 7 times). Thoughts?

Luke Fox

Always a sucker for a good floch appreciation post. Floch is one of the most well written characters in the whole show. Absolutely love his final scene in the show as well, really gives you an insight into his true self.

studiogek

Depends on what you mean by best I guess

Levi's Teacup

A couple reasons: 1. he's the perfect amount of vulnerable that makes him the most relatable 2. he has a couple really great solo action feats that we really only expect from the MAIN main characters (thunder spear moment vs Pieck in Liberio / ODM scene in the finale when he detonates the explosives) 3. He's shown really great leadership in 3-4 huge spots, and it wasn't forced so we all got behind him every time as the viewer. 4. He seems to have great perspective in basically the whole show, but his mindset rollarcoaster in season 4 is pretty great. --- With that being said, I still absolutely love Erwin/Levi and Erwin is hard to pass up I think. Just giving Jean his flowers, "Best" may be hard to define, but he may easily have the most development imo.

Charybdis

Would yall rather get rumbled or endure a calf cramp for 24 hours straight

Shroomy

Just curious what are your gripes with Levi?

Tony Garcia

I’m kidding he’s a great character. I just don’t like how he’s over glazed. (I’m a fan of the beast Titan)

Chuck Norris

Its hard to choose a "best" character for this show because so many arguments can be made for so many of them. Im with you though Jean is at the very least top 4 for me. I personally think Reiners whole story and character is way to good for it to be anyone else but him. Thats what I love about this though show someone could tell me they think Pyxis is the best character and I could get behind that idea

Levi's Teacup

Great point, even as I make a case for Jean I think about how many top tier characters there are. I'm a lifer for this show man lol

Connor O'Hara

Floch is simply the archetype of the fascist. The progression of his character makes complete sense, however I think it's still important to note that Floch is maybe the most condemnable character in the entire show and his actions are the most pointlessly cruel in a show about the world being cruel.

kuza

hes in my top 5 for sure and hes GOATED but i couldnt put him past eren, reiner and erwin for me personally

GreetswithJudgement

Definitely top 5. I won’t be mad if someone had Jean as their top Goat because he is amazing.

dimitris athanasiou

No offense, but imo there's a reason characters like Jean and Gabi get the "this is the best character in the show" treatment in terms of writing. It's because you'd have to be genuinely stupid to miss the point. Other characters, like the core EMA, are written with more subtext and nuance. So I would have to disagree that Jean is the best, but he is a great character.

TheSauceGuy

He's not even remotely close to the most condemnable. You have Eren at the top, Gross is followed closely behind, OG King Fritz, etc. Floch is certainly very condemnable, but your statement falls kind of in line with what I said: his actions are often artificially amplified over the actions of others.

Dasha

don't tell me we are not getting ep 27 today cause there's 4 left till the end of the season and they can be split into 2 drops 😭 I was totally sure today is the day for Shadis & Magath scene

Hunter Snider

Here's the big reason I disagree - Floch takes pleasure from lording power over people and murdering other Eldians. There are wayyy too many scenes where he's on his power trip and isn't just making hard, terrible choices to protect his people, but fully loving it along the way. He's a man with principles that make some sense, and he's also a despicable human being on a personal level. Those aren't mutually exclusive. It's the same reason I'll never fully like Zeke - it's one thing to commit "necessary evils" that you actively hate doing (Eren doesn't enjoy killing people) and another to take pleasure from it and even make a game of it as Zeke does.

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

val

They'll definitely do 2 drops 😔

Dasha

noooooooooo

Jean Racaillou

Pretty much everybody Floch is well written character. The issue is Floch glazers. Floch is literally written to be portrayed as what happens if you don’t get out of the forest (doubt he’s called Forster by coincidence), which is on of the main theme of the show and yet, some people idolize him and call him based. It’s hard not to cringe at tbh.

Charybdis

Agreed, rewatching has put so many characters in a different light for me

Galaxy Nemesis

Floch is a amazing character, only the willfully ignorant cant see where he is coming from. Floch is basically a intelligence test for viewers imo. Everything he does is 1000% justified. People forgot s3 very quickly it seems, he shouldn't even be alive that is why he lives this way.

Galaxy Nemesis

Eren literally genociding the world yet Floch is the villian? How do they seem more mad at Floch than Eren...

FURsona

calm down, you'll live

Galaxy Nemesis

You should take your own advice my comment was 2 sentences. Is nobody allowed to critic this work of god? AOT diehards being incredibly thin skinned as per usual. Are different opinions not allowed here?

TheSauceGuy

Floch (didn't get out of the) Forster. No, I agree, and I feel the same way about people who idolize Eren. I think S4 Eren glazers are worse in comparison, though.

Zipzzty

Floch is such a well written character

Zipzzty

Reiner, Eren, Armin, Zeke

cozo

i lowkey agree

Nunu

From my perspective, I think it's cause even though Eren’s committing way more heinous acts than Floch, no doubt, he’s not enjoying any of it. He's taking this route cause it's the only way he feels he can save his people. Whereas it feels like Floch lowkey gets off on hurting people - that creepy smile he does when Hange asked if he knew about the wine, being trigger happy, and constantly being on some power trip just gives evil. Floch was never shown in a good light in the show compared to Eren which is why people feel like Eren is still more likeable as a character.

Nick

Agreed.

Christian

Good point but I think most ppl felt just the vibes of the show def lean toward being more annoyed at Floch lol

Skillerfish

I think it's a similar effect to how in real life, really big numbers of casualties vs small numbers gets a different response out of people. Like, 10 people dead in a mass shooting is horrible, but a million dead in a war is more of a statistic; Still terrible, but the human brain tends to interpret catastrophes on a huge scale as more abstract than smaller scale events. They also hadn't seen the rumbling depicted at this point, so seeing Floch shoot people is more visceral than the concept that the rumbling will kill a lot of people. Floch also spends more screen time proselyting, so you get more of an opportunity for his warped ideals to rub you the wrong way, whereas we don't see much of Eren at all in these episodes. So you're kind of not thinking about him as much.

ash

floch is so awful yet such a good character that i love him, he adds so much to the conflict in the show

Heppy

cry about it
