Oars is actively hunting down the straw hats and luffy is the highest priority. The whole point of the Oars fight is to stall him so that Luffy can have his 1v1 against Moriah, to release everyone's shadow. But now that Moriah is inside of Oars, they need to actually get rid of Oars. Which is why they are now trying to find more salt to exorcise him since they are also in a time crunch and they can't fully rely on Luffy showing up before the sun comes out.

I never can hate Sanji. I'm in the present with the anime and manga and I can safely say he is still my goat. I get the annoyance with some of the gags that Toei does for him, so I understand why some people wouldn't like him. But for me, I find myself mostly laughing at those gags than being annoyed. I think only a few times I was annoyed, but never made me dislike him. It's been proven Toei (not Oda) just be doing Sanji wrong, and that makes me like him even more. Toei are rats fr. I also watch Otakubroz one piece reactions, and I love their reactions to Sanji. They got me laughing every time and they always laugh and make jokes at his gags😂😂😂 Jack is right about the crew and their fight with Oars. They were trying to keep Oars attention as Luffy defeats Moria but after seeing Moria in Oars, they made the decision that they gotta purify him because he's too much to handle and they are reaching their limits. One of my favorite moments of the arc tho is seeing the crew fight together and strategize.

If you want them to not like this show, keep pushing the normal episodes. It's for this exact reason they ended up liking Skypeia better than Alabasta. sanji doesn't fit the normal "pervert" character archetype in anime and that's why his gag doesn't bother me. I’m not saying that sanji is a perfect character but most of the time sanji's gag is moments where he’s just appreciating women or shouting nami-swan or just having heart eyes. when sanji is fighting abasolm he's saying that he wants to use the clear clear fruit to peep on women, but we saw how angry sanji was when he heard that it happened to nami. sanji clearly isn't being honest when he's saying all these things to abasolm because his actions always show how sanji truly feels. this is the very foundation of sanji as a character since he has been introduced - sanji and zeff’s whole relationship is both of them saying horrible stuff to each other but ready to die for each other immediately. if you're caught up, it's obvious why sanji was putting on a front about the real reason why he wanted the fruit and the reason he treats women so dearly. sanji feels vulnerable in that moment and hides behind his words. toei does too much and oda sometimes - sanji is the goat and he's very complex.

jack's take is completely valid. i love sanji but a lot of people really don't like when you criticize his character or how far oda goes with his gag, yes oda. toei definitely makes it worse, but that scene from this arc where he fully admits to wanting to be invisible to spy on women in the bath made me extremely uncomfortable when i first watched, and that was all oda. i wish oda had just stuck fully with the part of sanji's character that can’t lay a hand on women and is a charming gentleman instead of making him have moments where he's a huge creep cause it's really a hard watch, especially when you love everything else about his character.

SPOILERS it was a "pervy" thing to do even by sanji standards, but it's hilarious to me because it was a mixed bathhouse. men were already in there looking at nami and robin, so sanji could've just walked in without having to use the suit - it's clearly meant to be funny. also, nami literally drops her towel on purpose to get a reaction from the men in the bathhouse. sanji's reactions to similar sitiuations is definitely overexaggerated by toei and his gag happens more frequently/longer. oda explained that the reason he made sanji use the suit was so drake and hawkins could see steath black.

Some has said that he doesn’t mean that seen by the way he reacts to Absalom actions. But then SPOILER He ends up in Wano using the germa suit to do exactly that. And some people are blaming toei so I’m unsure whether that was a toei decision or Sanji creeping was also in the manga

SPOILERS Sanji puts up an act to absalom because of what the fruit means to sanji not because of absalom himself - he clearly wanted to be left alone as child and the only way child sanji could achieve that was to be invisible. All his past traumas are being confronted here because of the reason why he wanted the fruit. Why would sanji not hide his vulnerability behind words, it’s the foundation of sanji as a character - look at his relationship with zeff. The wano bathhouse scene was literally to show drake and hawkins the suit and it was a mixed gender bath - it’s not that deep. Also, nami doesn’t care if sanji does those stuff as long as she can manipulate men with her looks so sanji is the perfect “victim”- it’s shown over and over again. Nami was fine to drop her towel in the bathhouse whether sanji was there or not. Nami hits and is angry with the men of the strawhats all the time. I’m not saying people have to love or like sanji but i think understanding why sanji does these things is important to his character. The gag is very overexaggerated in the anime in terms of sanji's reactions to women.

@blackleg sanji SPOILERS i understand what you’re saying but that just sounds like a headcanon imo. i honestly really wish that had been what oda intended with the clear-clear fruit and maybe he did but i think my point still stands that his moments of pervyness overshadow and sometimes ruin that part of his character. we never saw him wish to be invisible to get away from his abusive family but canonically we saw him admit to wanting to be invisible in order to spy on women and when he got the chance to be invisible and spy on women…that’s what he did. we also know he has a great appreciation for women due to his childhood but how do we see that play out when he’s an adult…by his very weird and non-consensual behavior towards them. it also makes me uncomfortable when people use the excuse that nami’s okay with it (which she’s isn’t all the time, punk hazard is just one example) but oda is a freak and let’s his fantasies run wild a lot and what man wouldn’t love a women who didn’t care he was perving on her

@Seda SPOILERS I made this comment purely to say why sanji’s gag doesn’t bother me personally and i’m a women btw and most of sanji’s fanbase are women. This is the way i understand sanji if you have a different opinion that’s fine. at the end of the day it’s anime the “perv” character will always be there but i think that because sanji has an actual respect and love towards women it doesn’t bother me as much. in germa when reading the devil fruit book sanji didn’t see women the way he does now because zeff taught him to never hit women and that started his simping. Why would oda specifically bring up sanji wanting the fruit from his germa childhood - i’m just looking at this moment from retrospect and it makes sense to me. I don’t understand how the way sanji reacts to situations is a headcanon or trying to understand sanji as a character? I didn’t love sanji doing that in wano either, I’m not saying that sanji is a perfect character but most people don’t like sanji in moments where he’s just appreciating women in his gag or shouting nami-swan or just having heart eyes - most of the time sanji isn't a pervert with his gag. If nami truly didn’t like sanji’s actions in PH like with absalom it shows in nami’s behaviour and not as the angry gag she has with the strawhats. nami says it’s fine as long as sanji pays her back for touching, it's personal to nami as a character - it's not like sanji is a stranger to her. not all the women oda writes would be fine with sanji doing that. sanji doesn’t touch robin in that way, he just simps over her because he knows robin probably wouldn’t like it.

@mahti i personally just like having discussions on characters and sanji is complex to me. if people don’t like sanji or his gag it’s not that deep. the way sanji reacted in this particular situation felt deeper purely because of the clear clear fruit - i don’t defend sanji in all this perv moments lol. i’m not expecting everyone to love the same characters as me but most of the time sanji's gag is moments where he’s just appreciating women or shouting nami-swan or just having heart eyes - everytime Jiraya mentions women it’s to be a pervert and nothing else, sanji doesn’t do that in my opinion but he definitely has his moments.

@blackleg sanji SPOILERS just want to make sure i clarify—i don’t hate sanji and i’m not saying his actions are irredeemable. i respect your opinion/perspective and i hope nothing i said came off as judgmental. i like having discussions about characters too:) i was just commenting that i think the writing fails him sometimes and he has moments that make me really uncomfortable as a woman but i understand not everyone feels that way. i didn’t like the scene in PH when he was groping/peeking at nami’s body bc she visibly looked upset and yeah she threatened to charge him if he kept doing that, but i didn’t take that as her giving consent but trying to get him to stop. i 100% agree with you that it’s ridiculous he gets hate for his heart-eyes and harmless simp behavior and for not being able to fight against women opponents; like those are my favorite qualities of his!!! i wish he was more respected for those moments and isn’t as defended for his other creepy behavior.

@black leg sanji SPOILERS I think the crux of the discussion lies in how deep you’re willing to look at the gag. Because whether something is comedic or not, it always carries narrative weight and depth. the difference is whether you choose to engage with that weight or dismiss it. If we are to look deeply at his desire and how his past shapes them, once they intersect with his actions (including gags) it becomes character writing and should be critiqued with depth. Concerning the responses of women like Nami (this is more to do with Oda than Sanji). The problem is shown with how there is difference in opinion on whether she consents at points like how both of you have different views on PH. This shouldn’t be the case and is a failure on Oda’s part by leaving consent in a grey area within the gag. Ultimately, I think part (probably most) of the Sanji hate is Oda hate and how he distastefully pushes the gag too far at some points and people aren’t able to discern what they dislike about it so they choose to hate the character because of it and not the author, if that makes sense.

@Seda SPOILERS Omg no, i loved having this conversation, i have no one to talk to about one piece about so i commented !! everyone has an opinion and i think it’s fun to debate especially on my favourite character. I completely understand why some people find sanji’s gag uncomfortable and it’s literally impossible to defend it all the time. I agree entirely that oda’s writing fails him sometimes when i watched TB for the first time i didn’t like this scene either but after sanji’s backstory i saw it in a different light. It wasn’t the best way for oda to write sanji reacting to that situation obviously but it doesn’t bother me as much anymore. if you didn’t take this opinion from sanji’s character, then that’s completely fine, media can be interpreted in many ways. i’m more or less referring to the silly simping part of his gag because up until TB sanji hasn’t really done anything perverted. personally nami and sanji feel different to me purely off nami’s character. Yes, i wish that sanji’s character wasn’t boiled down to the bad part of his gag but i understand also why some people can’t look past it. I agree that oda is weird but that’s just japanese media, unfortunately.

@JMP SPOILERS Yes i definitely agree, this is why i understand why people don’t like the gag sometimes. I was just talking about how i viewed that scene because of what i interpreted from sanji’s backstory and character writing. Most character gags in op have an explanation (boa, usopp, nami etc) and that’s what i got from the writing of sanji’s character at that moment. sanji was depicted in a bad light because he has flaws and he’s written in that way. But sanji’s actions and words in that one specific scene were contradictory and i felt as if there was a reason for that (trauma response). I think it helps to explain, rather than justify, why he said that with absolom. I’m not defending all sanji’s actions in reference to the bad parts of his gag, sanji has bad moments but i think the good qualities of sanji’s gag should be appreciated too because most of his gag is harmless and silly - does that make sense? When most people hate sanji it’s not for the actual problematic moments, it's for the simping part that is "annoying". I agree with oda not establishing clear boundaries in nami’s character and the situation of PH but that’s just oda not being clear. i don’t think you can necessarily give sanji hate for that.

im not joking when I say OnePace is a significntly worse viewing experience, especially for watching for the first time, so many parts are rushed for 0 reason (Kuma vanishing Perona for example) its really just sloppy and leaves a lot of suspense out of the scenes. Please switch back to regular canon episodes, its much more enjoyable.

Dont need One Pace at all, it just cuts sloppily from scene to scene and kills any and all suspense. Especially for them watching it the first time the build ups to the plot points is what makes these arcs so great

I don't know if they'll continue regular anime till the end of this arc but I heard this is the first arc One Pace worked on so I guess that's why the cuts are so bad.
