I didn’t read the manga before the show came out but season one rewired my brain so well that I read the manga a few weeks after season one finished and all I have to say that this is one of the best adaptations for an anime ever it’s just so perfect and I’m so incredibly hyped for everything that comes next

I remember when Dandadan first came out, it was a digital only release on like shonen jump’s side app. It was the first new weekly releasing series I ever started. For me I couldn’t have asked for a better adaptation. Animation looks great and I love all the creative decisions they’ve made especially their use of color. Overall looks and feels like a really unique adaptation.

Omg Jiji is singing the opening for the Ranma 1/2 anime (1989 version) !😂 The main character of that anime has a curse where he turns into a girl when splashed with cold water, and turns back into a guy with hot water.

The adaptation of the series goes beyond any expectations I had for the show as a manga reader. Everything from the manga to the show is enhanced in the best way possible from animation, colors, camera shots, transitions, sound design, music, and voices for each character fit so well.

I was born in Japan and grew up watching that stuff. It was aired on TV before I was born, but everyone would just rent out anime series from video/DVD rental stores (yes they’re still a thing in Japan lol). So I’ve been able to watch a lot of the older anime as I grew up. It was also written by a legendary manga author (also wrote Inuyasha) so practically everyone knew about her works. There’s even Japanese articles talking about Jiji’s Ranma 1/2 reference 😂

The adaptation for me captures some aspects even better for me, like with the whole Aira episodes it managed to get me teared up where the manga didn't. This is of course is traded off in someway with the censorship of what Acro Silky had to go through to get by as a struggling single mother. But to me in the end that doesn't matter, because they directed a sequence with such spectacular music and beautiful story telling with camera angles and lighting in that I can only think about the emotions for which that scene made me feel when I watch it.

the pacing is a bit slow esp at the beginnig since its also such a long series. might be better to watch that on their own time here and there rather than as a reaction
