Yeah Gilgamesh is insane. It was a pretty bad matchup for berserker bc Gil has A rank and anti divinity weapons. Since you guys were curious about him I believe he does get expanded on in some of the less popular Fates if one day you plan to watch those

On the note Berserk's Noble phamtasm, God hand. Not only can he revive, he gets a resistance to whatever killed him. He is also immune to rank B NPs and below, that's why Gil's first volley of swords broke on impact.

yes the grail/irisviel(not really) mentioned that Illya (illyasviel) had a "little brother", she means Shirou, (obviously not blood brother), so another hint that Illya is older than she looks, (18), which we already knew from Fate/Zero, when we had an 8 year flashback in episode 1 to when she was born and then we know that from the end of zero to fate stay night ubw there is a 10 year time skip... in this episode the grail/'irisviel' also mentioned that the greater grails flame was not extinguished and the battle ended without resolution and would soon resume, another answer as to why it began only after 10 years. It didn't need as much mana as it would normally because of the leftover mana helped reduce the time it would for another grail war, (i.e summon the servants, etc). One of the causes was that Kiritsugu destroyed the lesser grail/grail vessel, which we already know.

We have also already seen Gilgamesh use the Chains of Heaven against Rider in Fate/Zero when he ran at gil while getting impaled by his weapons and as Gil said in this episode, the more divine the captive, the tighter the chains will hold them/more effective.

That sounds cool but I don't think that's the case. Given his dialogue with the maids he seems to think homunculi as just "tools", and he could've easily mercy killed her in the first blow instead of slicing at her eyes.

this series is based(started from) on 18+ romance game(from the looks of it rin,sakura,saber, those school girls are all girls u can romance), where your choices can make the whole story into a different outcome. in ubw shirou choice to follow rin effects her choice with caster and caster choices to mess up kirei plans(I dont know what it is but they were defo planning something with the way gilgamesh moving)

Heracles is just built different. I know some people speculate his berserker form isn’t even his strongest form since the madness enhancement increases his strength at the cost of skill and intelligence.

Well hes kind of twisted from what happened to him in Zero, he respects the homunculi enough to step in their blood and use a sword to kill one of them while lamenting the fact humans cannot reciprocate their purity. "Gilgamesh, despite his cruel nature, seems to have a twisted sense of mercy. He doesn't want Illya to suffer the horror of seeing Berserker, her protector, brutally killed. He believes that by blinding her, she will die in peace, believing Berserker is still by her side", according to a numerous reddit threads and forums.

Heracles' and Illya's relationship is one of my favorite parts of UBW, it's sad that it ends so quickly - but you also can't help but admire Gilgamesh as he effortlessly destroys everyone lol.

Regarding the end discussion, I'd be down with just doing 2 episodes, I think that did well with Fate/Zero since it was also a "shorter" anime. For me, I love taking my time with amazing shows so I can be completely invested and I think it allows me to appreciate them more fully. Maybe that can open up enough time for another Juicy tier show as well?

Fun fact about Hercules there. Heracles is his Greek name, Hercules is his Roman name. Rome basically copied all of the Greek Pantheon and changed the gods names to what our planets are currently named. Zeus is Jupiter in Rome, etc.

I'm with you guys on loving gilgamesh even if hes "evil" and I would recommend the Fate: Strange/Fake prologue if you love gilga. It's like 45 mins and the animation is insanely good, very different to the usual fate animation as well.

Zero Berserker definitely did not put up more of a fight than UBW Berserker. The entirety of Zero was Gilgamesh basically refusing to try at all or even use his weapons against the others. Most of the jet fight was him just playing around to have fun. While Gilgamesh wasn't trying too hard this fight he was still blasting Berserker with countless attacks and acknowledged that he was using stronger weapons than usual. Also Berserker had him sweating a little at the end 😂

Makes a lot of sense given his backstory in mythology. His wife got tricked into giving Hercules something that struck him with madness, leading him to kill his wife/kids. When his madness recedes, he completes the 12 tasks of Hercules to atone.

This is probably one of the most controversial opinions I have but I think the Fate anime suffers from being a visual novel adaptation, it feels like the girls that are the focus of the main routes in the game get dumbed down to Shirou lovers when they could be way more than that like I think Rin would be an all time female anime character if half her personality wasn't just being a Tsundere towards Shirou which don't get me wrong it is juicy romance stuff I mean Rin is like the face of Tsunderes for a reason, I just can't help but imagine how much of a cooler and deeper character she'd be without that side of her. Another way I think it suffers is the way certain side characters are just offed because they're not important to the main plot of the route, like take Illyasviel and Rider for example, I think they both could have had such larger parts to play in this anime but they just weren't important for the overall plot of the UBW route so they get killed off like it's pretty much nothing. It just feels like if you want to dive more into certain characters then you have to dive deep into the side stories of Fate which is a never ending rabbit hole. This isn't really a complaint btw, I love Fate for what it is, I just think it could be more if it wasn't at it's core a romance visual novel.
