Looking forward to rewatching Takopi’s with you guys! I enjoyed it the first time (despite how hard it was to watch at times), but there were definitely moments that threw me off. I think going through it again will help me better understand and appreciate how everything plays out.

I’m glad you guys clocked that the real issue lies with the parents. I’ve seen so many people online blaming the kids, when in reality they’re just reacting to the environments they were raised in. Despite all awful flaws, in the end Marina and Shizuku are just kids who were never given the guidance or love they needed.

I'm in utter shock like I've been sitting here for nearly 20 minutes after that Takopi episode just thinking about what I just watched... that is not at all where I expected this show to go, I thought Takopi was gonna go help Marina which would indirectly save Shizuka but he just... just killed her lol, I mean no not "lol" it's not funny I just can't even word what I'm thinking after that I just really didn't expect Marina to die, and then Shizuka's reaction??? Idk if we're getting that happy ending you want Carter... I think the last time I was this shocked while watching anime was when I watched Oshi No Ko which was over 2 years ago and I've watched a lot in those 2 years so this tops a lot of stuff.

@Blake You’re misunderstanding the point. Acknowledging that kids are shaped by their environment isn’t the same as excusing their actions, it’s explaining them. No one’s saying what Marina did was okay. The point is that blaming her in isolation and abuse ignores the root cause. Kids aren’t born like this, they’re failed by the people and systems around them. Marina and Shizuku both needed guidance and care and they never got it. That doesn’t erase accountability but it adds important context. Understanding why someone does something isn’t about justifying it but it’s actually addressing the problem instead of slapping a label on a child and calling it a day.
