I’ve been following them since their very first SNK reactions, because it’s my all-time favorite anime. Now that they’re reacting to BTS, it honestly feels like I’m reliving the same excitement I had with SNK just in a different way. Sure, the BTS content comes a bit less often and the wait feels longer, but my god, the joy I feel when I see “BTS” pop up in their notifications is priceless.

Mic drop-BTS would definitely surprised you guys as you only have watched 2 full english videos of them but also On-BTS, Black Swam-BTS are also so good performance wise but genuine speaking all of their MVS have great performance’s and dancing. (Make sure to also turn on Captions for other songs that have korean on them the lyrics are pretty good!) and Guide to BTS made by taylor explains all their journey and how far they gotten (it’s english subtitles)

To be fair, you shouldn't do BTS English songs; those aren't their best songs, those are only for the general public, which aren't meaningful and don't represent them much. For K-POP you have to react to their K-Pop music, with korean lyrics in which if you really want to understand a song, you have to read the translation, the storyteling and meaning behind the music is meaningful which is why many people connect with them, but if you're just into the visual and beats then yeah, other groups are better, maybe...

Definitely a better Blackpink song but this is still just a mid pick for BTS. Butter and Dynamite are decent but its a totally different vibe from their original music. Most of their best songs pre 2020. I recommend starting with their older stuff first personally.

Maybe “Boy with love” by BTS would be a good choice since you seemed to like Dynamite and Butter. I think it’s also fully in English. But for BTS songs there are so many my favourite ones that it’s hard to pick😂 I would love a reaction for the whole HYYH (my Roman empire, the peak of theories in k-pop lol) in the correct order but that probably should happen after you’re more familiar with BTS and their music. For now, “Black Swan” is a must!

One of the best things about BTS is their rap line. RM, Suga, and J-Hope all came from the underground scene, so their skills and lyricism are on another level. They write and produce majority of their music, with lyrics that can be both fun or incredibly deep. In k-pop, companies often train idols to rap if they can’t sing, but BTS has actual rappers who’ve even addressed this controversy in their songs—Suga especially. If you respect rap or hip-hop, their discography is full of proof why they stand out in this regard.

I’m glad you guys like both songs. For future BTS songs, I suggest y’all react to more of their less westernized hits. Dynamite and Butter are great, but they released them later on into their career when they were breaking into the Western Market, hence the all English. To get a full depth of BTS discography, I recommend stuff prior to that era, because trust me, BTS has RANGE. I can't wait for them to react to BTS's variety shows and clips that show their personalities because it is a large part why the group got so famous and they basically revolutionised this aspect in Kpop and arguably even Western fandoms. Before it was custom for idols to only show their perfect selves to their fans and they only showed more personality on TV broadcast entertainment shows but BTS were the first to establish their YouTube and Twitter accounts as ways to directly communicate with the fans and show almost everything about their process. Not only that, but they also showcased their struggles and wrote that into their songs, being among the first few groups that have had direct involvement in their music rather than getting stuff from producers (obviously there have been many before such as BigBang). Their music videos are fun, but the energy from their live performances is on another level. I especially recommend their Yet to Come concert on Amazon Prime. Also I hope this format isn't too annoying, but I'm just gonna quote specific parts of the reaction to make it easier for me lmao "they look a lot different every time" - Yes! K-pop groups are known for really switching up their members looks for each comeback, not just in terms of outfits and makeup but often times totally restyling their hair with cuts/extensions/hair dye etc. They even tend to use a lot of color contacts and such, so with all that people often take a bit to start getting all the members down but once ya got em ya got em lol "do they all rap or just one?" - More of a general answer but K-pop groups are also known to advertise themselves with certain role assignments too, this includes things like 'singer/rapper/dancer' to even things like 'visual' (which is like...just to say they're extra pretty? idk, lmao) and can include things like 'main/lead/sub' as an additional part of their title (ex: 'main rapper', 'lead dancer', etc.) to show how prominent they're intended to be in that role. Some groups stick to this fairly strictly, while others may wander a bit more (I feel like this is more common in more self produced groups, like Stray Kids 🫶🏻 and somewhat BTS) but often stay in the vein of their original talents - In terms of Blackpink while I like the music I've heard I never really got into the group or members so I'm no expert, but to my understanding Lisa and Jennie are both credited as the groups rappers (I'm part 1-ing this so the comment doesn't get too long...lol)

Blackpinks music can be kind of cookie cutter too. They're fun but their title songs don't really have depth. Bts has ventured many genres and have pug themselves into their music in a way that is hard to compare to one direction. Both Bts and blackpink have their weaknesses and their bad songs but they also have good artistry in others. I really hate when people immediately escelate and start putting down the one for the other. They've got different visuals, different styles, different music, number of members,ftarget demographic, gender, focus, nationality, number of songs etc Declaring one better than the other and calling the other trash is kindiof useless. if they think their music uis boring than that's just their taste and opinion but to imply that other groups are untalented or minimizing their "quality" to prop off blackpink is so childish. Bts and blackpink have both worked hard on their music in different ways and are made to appeal to a different audience which they successfully do. It's a quick watch. And you don't have to had watched 300 eps beforehand. If someone isn't caught up of doesn't want to rewatch Naruto then they won't comment. Barrier of entry for one single song is ways easier. Also people that don't actively haven't listened to kpop prolly still know some through reels or something so a little base familiarity is there. People who don't watch anime prollydhavent heard much about Naruto. Some of the geks themselves habe only started watching it recently (compared to childhood watchers)

@Mochi69 They said somewhere that the album captures their current self and their current feelings as a kind of record (as in archival record) bc when they come back with the next album a lot of time will have past and they will have grown physically and musically, so it was also an end/an goodbye to the current era. Where they went? Military and their solo careers. It wasn't meant as an goodbye forever. What I meant with musical direction was that the songs don't really have that much of an overarching style that ties them together. They're very varied in genre and instrumentation etc. Life goes on vs dis-ease vs dynamite. Lyrically they're tied together by singing about their feelings during the pandemic but what I meant was that they feel more like several singles instead of an album. Especially bc with their other albums, they have been very strong with their musical direction. So when be came out I was surprised by that. When I say the album was overproduced I mean the music was digitally too altered for my taste. I wished they would have gone for less layering, compression, pitch correction, etc. I would have liked it more if they left the vocals a bit more raw and untouched/acoustic vibe. The visual direction was very raw and undecorated and I had wished that the music would match that. Like winter flower and still with you for example which were also released 2020. I don't think my opinion is unreasonable.

If you wanna know how different they are, I recommend you watch their live performances and the most recent ones are a good example, like BTS Busan concert and Blackpink Deadline tour. Just in case, their guide is a good and amazing explanation too, then you're gonna feel the actual difference and realise how far they are from each other.

From what I’ve seen in this comments and what you guys said, this can go 3 ways (for bts): 1. Do a similar video comparing 2 songs from bp and bts. I think there’s no problem with that, pretty fun. There’re a lot of good recs of comparisons in this comment section. E.g. Fake love vs. Kill this love; Mic drop vs. Ddu du ddu du; On (kinetic manifesto) vs. Pink venom. I would suggest just taking more songs and making a longer vid next time (like please, it’s not that long🙏🏼). You can also maybe compare choreos/performances? 2. Watch 2-3 mvs (or hopefully a marathon of mvs🥹) in one vid. Again, good recs in this comment section: fake love, black swan, mic drop, on (kinetic manifesto), dna, etc. For this one I suggest watching choreo vids on the side too. You don’t realise how entertaining those are. 3. Just go into the documentary For this I suggest “guide to bts members: bangtan 7” by Taylor marie, which I think you’ve already seen suggested the most. I would actually be satisfied with this option a lot, since it’s what you said you want (or need) to do next, and it’s gonna make you HOOKED and appreciate their art and story more. All of the options are great. In my opinion, though, 2nd option’s the best for the next vid, and only then documentary. But considering that you’re doing kpop reactions once in a couple of weeks and you also need to satisfy the bp fans too, I think just delving into the documentary is the best option.

BTS >> I don't see this being mentioned but also consider " I NEED YOU (original version) (2015) " .. This was their turning point. The song that made mainstream korea opened their eyes. They stopped being “those rookie boys with sharp choreo” and became storytellers.. I'd really suggest one of BTS's older releases!! Dynamite and Butter were more targeted towards the western market, so they're a bit more "trendy" and fully English. My favorites are personally BTS's releases from 2015-2017 (i.e. I Need U, Run, Spring Day). Overall, I love all of their releases but BTS definitely has a huge range. They have a lot of songs that are pretty drastically different from what you guys have seen before.

Now as a recommendation, since you guys enjoy watching league of legends content now would be the perfect time to tell you about the kpop group that league had called K/DA comprised of both American and Korean artists as well as league champions (some who you may recognize). Most of their songs are bangers so I would definitely recommend you guys check them out👍

Yesss!!! Always loving the Kpop - it's still kind of surreal you guys are here haha. I definitely second watching group's top 3-5 music videos so you can get a good feel for their selection and talent! And that being said, I am going to continue to recommend Stray Kids 100x over as well! They are incredible as well and have a new album coming out this week 😍 Very different from Blackpink and BTS but almost the best from both worlds! A lot of their videos are very story-driven and just actual masterpieces of production. Any of them would entertain you all, I'm sure 🥰🥰

Well, I mentioned Stray Kids Ceremony MV several times to McKay in his solo stream and he wrote it down. So, maybe they will react to it or an ATEEZ song possibly or another BTS song. EXO was already mentioned a few times here in the comments, but I'd deff love seeing you guys react to them! They're an early 3rd gen group (debuted 2012) and legendary in the Kpop scene. Their Killing Voice video is SO GOOD, they all have such fantastic voices. Super solid group with a boatload of experience. NCT was also mentioned and that's another group I'd love to see a reaction to. For one, the Black on Black 2018 Performance Version is sensational.

PLS CHECK OUT KATSEYE. "Katseye" a global girl group they're pretty famous and debuted like a year ago their not k-pop but they are heavily influenced by it and even are under a k-pop label called HYBE, the same one BTS is under. Some songs by them: Gnarly, Gabriela, Touch, Gameboy.

Butter is another of their English hits and those ones like Dynamite, this one and Permission to Dance are very pop-y(?) If that makes sense haha. I love their English songs but if you really want to get into their deeper songs i'd say Fake Love, Black Swan, ON, Run BTS, Spring Day and Run are all popular ones. But they have hundreds of songs so narrowing them down is a task and a half lmao. I think the BTS Tiny Desk Concert is a good one. They perform snippets of various songs with a live band. It'll give you a better idea of their range as a group
