The thing I love about Toga (and I don’t know if this is intentional by the author but it really doesn’t matter) is how a trans friend told me they felt seen by her character in a way they never have before. They explained to me that Toga’s experience resonated with theirs of being born into a life where what felt “normal” to them would not be ever be accepted by the world around them… They, like Toga found a family in the other outcasts that were also forced out of their own rural homes and communities for being true to themselves. When they told that to me I saw Toga in an entirely different light. Yes, it may seem weird to you. Yes, you may not understand. But also… you don’t need to understand to know they are a human being… They were and are being hurt, ostracized, and marginalized by the world… and they (especially when a child) deserve and deserved to be protected and loved too.

I'll explain some stuff in this episode 1st twice power some people get confused so he can make two copies at a time but if he copies himself the copy can also make two copies so you see what that means? 2nd The yeti ice guy how he was getting so much ice had to do with the water underground in pipes l, he's freezing the water underground and essentially creating ice 3rd im not entirely sure about the shigaraki not disappearing in the tower but I think it has to do with the durability I think I was showing that shigaraki got stronger so even at less durability on a clone it still took a lot for it to disappear

It is not weird,Toga's backstory is a direct reflection and critique of what "being normal" means,where people who dont "fit in" are put down and forced to become secluded and rely on desperate means and it applies to pretty much anyone that has ever felt that way,im not trans but ive also felt like Toga since i was a child,i simply learned to cope with it and developed my own tools to be able to get by,but i have no interest on "fitting in" or having a "normal life",i live the way i want to while also making sure i dont hurt anyone in the way,Toga is what happens when those emotions get out of hand.

Shigaraki dusted the tower, but his clone warned the Twice clones to pad Giran. I’m just really fascinated by the entire league dynamic lol

It's okay to not get Toga compared to our society drinking blood like a smoothie is not normal lol but in a world where anyone can have any type of quirk her parents/school counselling were absolute bums to not try and help her. Yes it's creepy but it's her quirk she can't help it if it's linked to her personality, like she said in the episode just as you like someone you're affectionate with them, that's how she shows affection with people she likes/loves. MHA has shown multiple times that people's quirks are directly linked to their personalities, it just depends on the type of quirk you have, sadly Toga got the short end of the stick and was pushed out of society because of it :/

Twice is such a well written character. Such a tragic life, society just consistently punched him down until the only one he had left was himself. So he starts creating copies just to feel some kind of company. Then the clones rebel all thinking they are the real one and he has to watch hundreds of himself kill himself over and over, to the point that in the end he does not even know if he is the real one, in the process developing a dissociative identity disorder. Then avoiding getting hurt at any cost, because he is scared he will vanish. The League taking him in is the first time anyone has ever accepted him, so he sees them as his real family, especially Toga who has being closer to him than anyone. All that to finally having his arms broken trying to save someone else(which is what a hero does, not a villain), finally learning that he is indeed the real one and unleashing maybe the strongest individual quirk anyone has shown yet is so satisfying. Sad Man's Parade, what a name.

I'm so glad the guys understood Toga. It breaks my heart that she couldn't live a "normal" life because of her quirk and she couldn't even turn to her parents. Her episode definitely made me love her more. Also Twice is one of my top favorite characters. He's so well written and seeing his whole backstory is so sad. I was so hype when he overcame his trauma but at the same time I was like "Damn, what this mean for the heroes" 😂😂

So crazy we’re this close to the end of the season, I feel like we just started,, re-destro has always been a character that low-key annoyed me lol, specifically for what he was just saying to Not-Shigaraki (the clone). Both of them want to completely tear down what exists and make something different, each for their own individual reasons, but only his reasons were noble/made it okay? Mental gymnastics at its finest. He’s interesting though, I’ll give him that. And yes, Twice really is someone you want to root for! Horikoshi’s best work is in the insights he gives to each of his characters, and I feel like the League of Villains, the Todoroki family, and the relationship between Bakugo and Midoriya exhibit that really well. I forgot how crazy these episodes are lol, I’m so excited to see everything going forward, especially because Season 6 covers the part of My Hero that I finally caught up to the manga for when it first came out, so seeing it in the anime was a whole different experience and I think of it as “my” season lol.

Sometimes he’s just questioning new information presented as a confirmatory remark. It’s called being a reactor and it shows he is paying attention more than anything. Representing new/interesting information in the form of a question is a very common thing people do to emphasize said information or create dialogue between himself and his friends. You’ll notice when he does this a lot it can spark a secondary remark from one of the guys and create reaction dialogue. I feel like Jack pays attention to small details more than anyone and is always so locked in so I don’t get this comment

My Villain Academia will always be one of my favorite arcs. It’s what made this villain group into more than just an “evil for no reason” group. The depth and nuance it gave some of these characters - especially Twice and Toga - really elevated this show to me. It also brings a definite tonal shift in MHA. From here on out the shows themes and even just the action/plot/consequences become more severe and intense. Excited for the coming arcs

These episodes definitely made Toga and Bubaigawara some of my favorite characters in the series, because they show how fucked you can be by circumstance, be it Bubaigawara "tripping" once and it spiraling out of control, or Toga being born with a quirk that made her "wrong" in the eyes of society

The power ups that several of the League of Villains members are getting in this arc really comes down to the crisis they're in. Not only have they been getting absolutely NO rest whatsoever while fighting Machia (it's an easier name that a lot of people use to refer to Gigantomachia) for a month straight, they're all put in positions that threaten their lives, their sanity and their bonds with each other. The League of Villains are still human, and although they aren't heroes, the ability to pull through in a moment of crisis (death, sleep deprivation, stress, mental fatigue, etc.) makes them no different from heroes who prevail in the face of adversity. It's like when All Might pulled out the last remainders of the One For All embers he still had in him in S3 during the fight with All For One. He forced himself past his limit by remembering his origin (the words his master told him to recall whenever he finds himself unable to go on). And what the League of Villains is doing is exactly that. We know by now that quirks can improve with time and practice, and sometimes in moments that force the user to adapt to survive. Obviously, not EVERYONE can do that. It requires a crazy amount of determination and a disposition that can create change (like All Might & Izuku) to invite something as significant as an upgrade in your quirk. But as we've seen, Shigaraki's ceaseless hatred at the world, Toga's desire to be more like the people she loves (to a maniacal degree), and Twice's trauma that held him back before are all dispositions that allow them to push for change, not just within themselves but in the world (more on this in S6 & 7). Their power ups are just the beginning of a monumental shift in superhuman society (or so the story leads to believe at this point), the outcome of which we're witnessing and will witness in future seasons.

Okay I wanna make it very clear this is not an attack on him. I subscribe to this channel fully aware he's part of the team so I obviously want to hear his input too. With that out of the way... I'm not referring to confirmatory remarks. I'm referring to various times when he starts theorizing about plot points or someone's abilities and would often TURN AWAY from the screen. His questions would then often get explained on screen without him noticing or realizing. A few examples where I remember he's done this 1) in code geass he repeatedly thought Lelouch was half Japanese even though his heritage was covered in the first couple episodes. 2) More recently in fate UBW *spoiler alert* while tohsaka was explaining archer's identity, he kept thinking he and shirou had a distance blood-relation because he turned to talk to others while all the major explanations were on screen. I honestly don't remember what he said in this video that made me comment on it, but I don't want to spend an hr looking for it. I feel that my first comment gave the wrong impression so I feel the need to put emphasis on this - I WANT TO HEAR HIS THOUGHTS. I only wish that he holds his conjecture until the on-screen explanations are done, or at least keep his eyes on the screen while he does it to avoid missing things.

I think the worst part about how this arc was animated was that it just ruins a huge chunk of the storytelling. MHA is split into 3 acts with the first ending after AM retired and AFO was imprisoned. Act 2 follows the start of the journeys of both their disciples having to take over the legacy that was left behind. In the manga, the arc is narrated by Spinner, and the arc starts with him doubting Shigaraki since he joined because of Stain, and he's been feeling weird ever since it became clear that Shigaraki had no interest in Stain's ideas. This kinda frames the arc as us watching Shigaraki become a leader Spinner wants to follow. Idk why the anime decides to just spoil MVA before it even happens. Plus before this, the villains were rather flat but this arc fleshes them out so well. That’s why MVA is so important, cuz it directly parallels our protagonist and antagonist and builds up to act 3 in such a wonderful way. I implore everyone regardless of if you disliked/liked this arc to please read the manga cuz it tells it in such a better way 😭🙏🏼

I find it interesting that this season was lead by a new director and started production in the summer of 2020… during the height of a global pandemic… but that is always left out in criticism of it. You’re right, it IS objectively worse than the associated manga chapters but it was also made at the height of one of the most world altering events in modern history. I work in game development and my industry also went through a HUGE shift at the same time transitioning from in studio to remote work. I wish people remembered that when criticizing season 5, it’s almost like they forgot how crazy the world was at that time.

Well since they watch so many shows they often forget things understanbly and Jack has a tendacy to not filter his thoughts much and just say the first thing he thinks out loud while watching, this causes a lot of moments where he says things that too be frank are just dumb and only take two seconds of contemplating on to realize it makes no real sense. That being said though he is still very perceptive and when there is juicy information being dropped Jack is often the first to put things together and figure things out.

I understand that and have major respect to all who worked hard during those times, but I’m not really talking about the animation/pacing. I’m talking about the choice to rearrange parts of the arc which disrupted the narrative flow (and this was done because of the movie releasing at the same time that related to the Endeavor agency arc, which imo was a bad call). There’s also the choice to cut a bunch of cannon material and add unnecessary filler instead (and they had to makeup for this in future seasons cuz it was important to the story 😭). This arc is meant to be game changing but the adaptation blew past it like it was filler. I know this was a new director, and I just think a lot of their decisions could be felt in a negative way.

Easy there Tyler… Game making and show directing are completely different. However what happened with this season was a choice made by a studio to invest in making profit over quality. Im sure thats something you can understand considering the business you work in (GAMING) which DOES the exact same thing everyday, so I would hope YOU fight against that at your company and can be a little less condescending to others when they prove you wrong with basic knowledge and not run away with “lmao k, its really not that serious” That is embarrasing my guy.
