When I tell you I have practically no memories from my childhood but I remember this movie like it was yesterday… I never watched it per say but I remember playing in the living room and the movie was on and I just remembered the girl with the long black hair. It didn’t scare me or anything but I was marked by that 😅. Excited to really see it for the first time!

I can help Cannon I am the one who made the suggestions. I am not affected by horror movies I've been watching them since I was a kid. The ones she's talking about is most likely the terrifier series. I also suggested Martyrs if your not used to it can bother you. There are movies that even I will never watch again and that is a serbian film, cannibal holocaust, a lot of frech horror movies, as well as a Japanese series which is just pure torture movies and they are labeled as such. I watched years ago when it was easy to access stuff online without getting blocked or a virus. There used to be a lot more gore sites that you could access unlike now. Hope that helps. Sorry for the long comment but I do love horror.

Agreed. Movies with paranormal type of horror were scary for me when I was younger, now they are just entertainment. Psychological horror like Martyrs as you mention, or "Inside", "Insident in a Ghostland", "Irréversible" (just to mention a few) are way more scary because they are very real and can hapen to anyone tbh.

I can’t believe you guys don’t know who Naomi Watts (Rachael) is… she’s a multi Academy Award nominated actress who’s been in a lot of good and well known movies 😂. Check her out in The Impossible (with a young Tom Holland). Also, I did see this in theaters when it came out originally and can confirm I was very scared for a long time after that. Now, it’s just comical to me.

If you like horror movies with some mystery I would again suggest Sinister I feel like the vibe is similar to The Ring. But again if you want to be scared with jump scare and all The Conjuring Universe is my n°1 recommendation.

It was a good/okay movie. I guess my summary of the movie was that most of it was actually unsettling, not scary, until the end where it was scary cause of the daughter coming out of the tv.... i got them goosebumps. I got bored in the middle but got hooked towards the end probably because we were getting the main lore of the daughter. Anyways, glad to watch it with them during this spooky season! Even though I'm scared of scary movies, I'm excited for more scare times with ya'll!

Yea horror is such a broad selection as with comedy because its such a spectrum and sometimes different experinces in your life can completely change how you experience some movies. I used to love the rob zombie halloween untill stuff started hitting really close to home then it felt uncomfortable, same with jeepers creepers (especally after finding out about the director)

It was so scary now that I saw it the first time. I'm even down to just continuing the scary movies🫣 Especially the starting of the film was super scary. This was actually really scary movie throughout and some top level scary moments at least for me. I guess I am kinda scaredy cat but some horror movies don't make me scared at all. For example The Shining is for me not scary at all which is actually quite fine because I don't like being scared🤷‍♂️ but if you want something scary that is not the devil I think Midsommar, Last Night in Soho, Men, Barbarian.

Me and my father went to see this opening weekend, we love movie watching and would watch anything, even scary. By the time this movie was over we were literally slithering out of our seats on the ground covering our faces with our shirts, incredibly scary. To this day it’s one of my favorite horror movies, just a good movie, plot, and concept.

Some suggestions that I think would make great reactions from you guys specifically and maybe none of you have seen : weapons. It’s spooky but also funny af and great for reactions. If you are feeling brave and wanna actually go really scary I think it’s gotta be hereditary. It’s a must see horror movie. Talk to me is a cool concept and a good time. Heretic could be interesting since the two main characters are Mormon missionaries. Also Hugh grant is amazing in it. Midsommar is not so much scary as it is just creeepy vibes. But it’s great. Also I think all these would do well on YouTube.Just to name a few, and again just suggestions!

if you wanna understand this movie it's best to watch the second one it explains everything. I remember being so scared when this movie was out because they hadn't made the second one yet so i was scared of it for a long time. For Jack and anyone else that has a hard time with scary movies, besides avoiding them, my personal trick is to always make sure there's a resolution to whatever is scaring me. I was afraid of this movie until the story was complete. If there's no resolution i always try to rationalize by reminding myself I don't live in the city it takes place so it won't happen to me.

This is a wild take. To speak generally to try and avoid spoilers, Sinners is rooted in a very real history of the Jim Crow era south, while also using horror elements as an allegory for assimilation and the destruction of African and Black culture. Not even to mention the additional layers of the Irish and the Choctaw. It’s more a reflection of what it means to lose a culture (Irish can relate here too and did in the film), and by in large a people, and if you would choose to assimilate to maintain them. If the film is anti anything, it’s anti-oppression for anyone.

This movie scared me at the beginning but after that it wasn’t that scary anymore it was more psychological and weird maybe?? And I watched it with them at night.. for me sinister has the same vibes because I felt the same way watching both. The difference is that the fear I felt watching Sinister lasted the whole movie and I felt like it was better in terms of horror so I remember being more scared while watching Sinister than when I watched The Ring. And I think it really depends on the kind of horror movies that affect a person some people are more scared of serial killers and other it’s the demons that make them feel scared.

I've always seen Sadako (or Samara ig in this, I've always known her by the Japanese name) as a really iconic part of horror media and she's always really creeped me out even having not watched The Ring before but now that I've actually watched it I don't really get the scary vibe I always got from her before I had watched it like I think characters inspired by Sadako with the long black hair and the white dress scare me more than Sadako herself, not to say the movie failed to scare me or creep me out but I think me being in the unknown about what kind of "monster" she was scared me more than actually seeing her. I think the mystery was my favourite part of the movie tbh, seeing all the shots from the tape play out irl for Rachel and Noah was awesome, I think it'd be cool if they were a bit more subtle though, subtle horror is what really gets me

The conjuring isnt exactly about a devil, but there's definitely an element of the demons/devils throughout the entire series so its up to yall, but I LOVE the first two conjuring movies. Such good plots with just the right amount of jump scares. Shutter Island is a great thriller! Other good ones are Sinister, Insidious, Halloween, and Hereditary (CREEPY UGH). Jordan Peele also makes great spooky movies, like Us or Get out.

Strongly agree. For me really scary movies are the ones that mess with your mind and worst fears, psychological thriller-eske. My list would be thinking fast the shining, the exorcist, the innocent (1960, this one really blew my mind). I'l leave the ones that shows disturbing human behavior in another category though, for me a different kind of uncomfortable experience.

I'm not a fan of horror movies, but like almost everyone said including the geks this one is more on the mistery, psychological side and for me it's very well written and crafted in general, plus Naomi Watts is an actress I always enjoy watching. My recommendations (I wrote them before but just in case) would be the shining 1980 and the innocent 1960.

One thing I love about horror movies and games is you don’t always need to know exactly why something happens. Because a lot of the time the stories revolve around people just getting caught up in whatever horror. And something about not knowing makes it more interesting. I think of like Junji Ito and Lovecraft with that kind of story telling. Sometimes when things try to create like an origin, it can mess up the whole mystery and scariness of it imo.

Nah if they watched the first one they can get through the 2nd! Scary movie 2 is the best imo plus I feel like all the other sequels are tamer than the first

I watched this as a teenager at the movie theater with a group of friends back in the day and it is probably one of the most memorable movie watching experiences I’ve ever had. The theater was full and the entire audience screamed at every jump scare. I’m pretty sure I lost my voice lol. Just the nostalgia made it my favorite horror film ever. Naomi Watts is a really famous Oscar nominated actress. I recommend watching her in The Impossible (with a young Tom Holland) - they were both incredible in that.
