On an earlier episode, with the monster that used phantoms to lure people in, Frieren mentioned Flamme's phantom was begging for her life but she did not hesitate to shoot it as she was used to hearing her do that. Now we know, she did that as part of her tricks to fool demons into feeling like they had the upper hand and an easy prey.

Only at my 2nd watch I understood what Flamme meant by telling Frieren to live in obscurity until she defeated the Demon King. It definitely adds to deceiving the demons. Notice how Aura could not determine Frierens age and only knows of Frieren as part of the hero group. Frieren lived an obscure live and there were no records of her. It's harder to asses her skills that way. Flamme was so wise.

Frieren's have a clip and round bottom tip while Flamme's have a sharp bottom tip with a pin. Now the stone might be the same and Frieren might have modified it to better suit her ears once she went out with the boys to kill the Demon King....nothing concrete though.

Yes! And I also think its bec the Demon King is actively killing elves regardless of strength - based on what the demon on the hill said before Flamme blew them away. My theory is also Flamme maybe had a game plan with Frieren, like maybe having Frieren prep for a few decades (that became a thousand years) so that she's 100% ready to slay the demon king. being hidden & unknown kept Frieren safe and have (so much) time increasing her base mana and studying magic for the fight/the slaying.

Her mana has been growing since she first started suppressing it, but when she is suppressing it when they meet in the woods, it looks the same as it did when she first started with Flamme. I think she has been keeping it at the same level all the time even tho her max mana has been growing. Just my take tho.

So guys, I don't know if you already know this, but I speak german and the names of the characters have meanings in german. For example Frieren means freezing, Fern means distant, Stark means strong, Himmel means sky, Heiter means cheerful, Eisen means iron and Flamme means flame.

As we see the Death of Flamme here, I think it’s fitting to mention the passing of her voice actor, Atsuko Tanaka. The voice of characters such as Konan(Naruto), Hanami(JJK) and the MC of the Ghost in the shell franchise, who unfortunately passed away last year at 61 years old due to an illness. She was a great voice actor who was prominent in the industry for years and was gone to soon. May she be Resting in Peace.

I think youre right Herman, because if her mana keeps growing over the years, then if her suppression has to stay at 1/10 of her current mana, then her suppressed state would also grow, which would defeat the purpose of showing low mana to trick demons. She's kept it at the same point when she started while improving its "smoothness" to have no fluctuations, as Aura mentioned here.

Yep, even though she struggles with relationships and emotions, she still sub consciously does little things like that to remember those she loves. She's better than she realizes! Her favorite spell is also her masters favorite to add to that.

They probably have the same lifespan theoretically. She mentioned 500 years for aura is longer than usual, but I think that's probably because they're so aggressive they're always putting themselves in danger and looking for a fight. So even though they're powerful and quasi immortal, they probably have a somewhat lower average lifespan than people would expect.

I like this show for the themes and the wholesome relational moments like giving each other presents! The hype shounen arcs I personally skip on rewatches. This show is the goat “slice of life”. While the fighting animation is insanely beautiful, I don’t really care for it. Other anime fights excite me more. The emotional stakes in the wholesome slice of life moments are bigger than physical stakes of Frieren fights IMO.

ℹ️ CLARIFICATION TIME ℹ️ Heiter could only perceive Frieren’s suppressed Mana, that’s why he said she has about ONE-FIFTH of his mana when in reality she had a LOT more. That’s also why Frieren was surprised to have Himmel note that she’s the strongest mage he’s ever met, paralleled to how Flamme was surprised by Frieren noticing that about her despite suppressing their mana. Also I loved that we didn’t get episode 9 & 10 together, because as Cannon said these episodes actually benefit a ton from being watched individually.

After Flamme's death, Frieren spent a thousand years in isolation, living in obscurity. Himmel, Eisen and Heiter rescued her from loneliness. 😭 Also, I like how this episode puts everything into perspective: why she never uses her name to pass by villages and town even though she's legendary, why she hates festivals and why she shows no mercy to demons

I love the irony in demons using words to deceive humans vs Frieren and Flamme using mana to deceive demons, demons use one of humanity's most cherished things against them and Frieren and Flamme do the same to them, and now Frieren taught the same thing to Fern PLUS teaching her an altered version of Zoltraak that's specialized for killing demons, Frieren's raising quite the weapon with Fern I think this show does flashbacks better than any other series, they feel out of nowhere at first but by the end of the episode you see how perfectly they tie in and literally make the episode as good as it is like without all those flashbacks of Frieren learning to conceal her mana the end scene wouldn't have been anywhere near as good Also this is just speculation but I imagine Frieren probably was a bit lonely after Flamme's passing seeing as before meeting Flamme she was in the village with the other elves, idk if she was there from birth or they like formed the village but if she was there from birth then after Flamme's passing it would've been her first time being alone, although maybe her stoic nature staved off the loneliness

Why does it seem like Carter isn't 'really' enjoying this show as much? He obviously likes it, but I can tell they're not 'quite there yet' in terms of fully understanding and immersing in this show. To be fair they're still only at episode 10. But I can't help but compare their reactions to other reactors who are hooked to this show right from the start.

I haven't been paying that much attention to how Carter enjoys the show be honest but it's probably the expectations of the show. This is the best rated anime ever. At least for me I think it's been overhyped so I can't enjoy it to the fullest yet but that might change because it's not bad at all.

It's stated in the beginning when Frieren was trying to find Fern, probably by sensing her mana, that it was quite difficult to find her and she had exceptional mana control at that age. To that extent, Heiter was used to gauge Frieren's initial mana so he could sense mana as a priest. He could've gotten better as he grew older, and he still found it difficult to find kid Fern's mana.

I’m really not sure what you people are on about when commenting on Carter’s enjoyment of shows. It seems very obvious that he’s enjoying the show to me and he’s just not yelling and making facial expressions for everything that happens. He’s a more reserved guy that only really gives big on the nose reactions when something very hype happens or otherwise super interesting/intriguing & while Frieren is an AMAZING show there really isn’t too much to go bonkers over as far as reacting goes besides the fight scenes & some of the more emotional parts. He’s locked in.
