I would like to thank Carter for being the sole Edward defender on the couch. Everyone jumped ship when he broke up with her and Jacob was there, but not me. Edward all day. Alright, here’s my hot take as someone who reads a lot🧍🏻‍♀️ The problem with book adaptations is that the majority (especially in the romance genre) rely heavily on internal monologues, and that’s really hard to pull off in a movie with real actors, particularly when the book is written from a single POV. I haven’t read the Twilight books, but I’m assuming they’re entirely from Bella’s POV, which means all her thoughts, explanations and motivations get lost on screen. And since everything is told through her perspective, the other characters naturally get more dialogue and end up coming across more genuine. I can only imagine how difficult it was to make Bella’s minimal dialogue work without adding a bunch of new scenes or lines that would stray too far from the source material. So I guess they had to fill the gaps with a lot of lip-biting and excessive blinking🤷🏻‍♀️ Again, I haven’t read the books, so this is just my assumption. Bella still feels insufferable and stupid to me, and I doubt she’s a completely different character in the books😂 But it makes sense that she comes across as impulsive and awkward on screen because all those detailed pages of her thinking through her decisions can’t exactly be shown as long moments of silence😬 Anyway, that’s why I’m not a fan of adapting books into movies or shows. If you stay true to the internal monologues, you end up with a bunch of weird Joe Goldbergs💀 but if you cut them out, you lose the character depth and logic🫡

as an 11-13 year old I thought this was the best love story, now thar I am older I watch it as a story about suicidal depressed girl choosing between Death (Edward) and Life (Jacob). Bella's character is like Mary Sue trope, she is empty , so every girl watching can kinda fit herself in her shoes. Vampire stuff is big in Italy, I was visiting Italy last year, a lot of travel sites said that Venice island has vampires, so it is better to stay in the city, rather than historical Venice. The aura there was so heavy, a lot of vampire symbolics and pretty creepy at night with all the labyrinth streets. There were a lot of shops with vintage things that were assumed to run by vampire families.

Ok I just gotta say this it might be funny overall but there’s a few things about her pain that are misunderstood. The fast paced breathing when he breaks up and leaves is an anxiety attack, and its not just her screaming over her teenage vampire love, she is probably having nightmares about James biting her and the venom running through her veins so basically ptsd from almost being eaten by a vampire.
