Ohhhh yes I was about to comment somewhere that you boys need to watch this 😍 Saw it at IMAX and it blew my eyes and ears off. I remember being in such awe I laughed. Peak MAPPA. Excited to watch it again with y’all!

Alan

YAAAAY

Miitei

Time to rewatch this with the Geks!!!

Daniella

Seeing this in cinema not knowing what to expect was so peak like my jaw was dropped for like the last 10 minutes of the film. The fact that this movie is now up for an Oscar is so crazy, i mean i doubt it’ll win, but i hope it’ll show production companies that amazing animation yields amazing results (i’m looking at you Bandai 👀)

Rm

Most wholesome skinny dip OAT

kuza

holy shit i havnt even watched this yet i was waiting for it to drop digitally , i do feel like i need to rewatch csm s1 for this though maybe through yalls reactions 😭😭

Grae

OMG ITS HERE WHAAAAT, HOW WAS I WATCHING THE MOVIE, CAME TO CHECK AND IT WAS HERE. Longer comment coming after cos this is my favorite movie of the year.

PEAKKKKKKKKKK

Pudding

THANK YOU SO MUCH I CAN FINALLY SEE YOUR REACTION TO THIS CINEMA

Lorenzo

Me and the homies HATE Makima

Tyler Ngo

mckay understands this movie so well in one watch it’s impressive

Tobenna Onyia

Such a big debate in the community if reze actually loved denji or not and if she really wished he could run away with her

Jonas Teigen

THIS is why we watch anime!!🔥🔥🔥, the Reze arc is a masterpiece. It seems so simple, yet it’s peak plot and peak character writing, with not a single minute wasted. The first half has some of the best art and direction, and the last half has some of the best animation I’ve ever seen. MAPPA absolutely cooked. But tbh I prefer the character writing most in this arc, it’s tragic, deep, and gives a lot of foreshadowing and callbacks to other parts of the story. The themes are so good, the “country mouse vs. city mouse” and lust vs pure love, they tie everything together beautifully and give meaning to every interaction. A rare 10/10 anime movie. Fujimoto (mangaka) is a genius, and if you want more from him, watch "Look Back", that’s also a masterpiece. Also, get hyped for S2, it's gonna be even better.

Conk

Jjk movie so mid

Conk

I watched this in the theaters and forgot to make sure it was sub. Now I can watch sub 👍

Holden

I just watched this before you uploaded but had to rewatch, holy peak

Philbo

Fun Fact: I actually went back and rewatched your guys S1 reactions to this before i went to go see it in theaters lol

Ludwig

Mappa locked in

Holden

Also, this movie is not a spinoff or anything, it's just a continuation of the manga. They chose the perfect arc to make a movie

Chosos Wife

YESSSS LET'S GO. THE PERFECT MOVIE

Chosos Wife

Because the owners of chainsaw man released it to buy today. Demon slayer isn't available to buy and watch legally yet

Yuno

Even though im flat broke i had to get on Patreon to watch this CINEMA in all its glory again... waiting for more seasons is gunna suck because everything after this point is constantly going at 1000 MPH

Benny

ABSOLUTE PEAK. Honestly some of the most unique and beautiful animation. My jaw kept dropping. Heartbreaking story. Incredible music. Funny watching it again and noticing how they position and sometimes block the detonator on her neck

Riley

Been waiting months for this. I saw it in theaters three times, twice subbed and once dubbed.

Lemonsqueeze

This is the movie, Demon Slayer wish it would be. Absolute peak

N P

"Lend me some nitroglycerin, Reze....this is street-level Deku I'm up against!"

Nrock23

LETS GOOO

Brady

I’m happy you guys waited to react to this on the channel, but man did you guys miss a peak theater experience, specifically in 3D. I was unsure how 3D would look for a 2D movie, but it was so perfect and completely elevated the experience in my opinion. Seeing this in MX4D with the moving seats was crazy (though a little clunky) as well. Movie: 8/10 MX4D: 7/10 3D: 11/10 Overall: 9/10

Umineko peak fiction

Lets be real the main fight in demon slayer movie was way better animated and better written. Hell Id argue JJK movie had better fights as well

Umineko peak fiction

jjk destroys csm sorry fam. theres a reason s3 is more hyped then reze movie

Brooke C

Beam bestman!!!

Grae

Nah no way, demon slayer was more a colleague of character sequences; this was a cinematic EXPERIENCE from start to finish. No shade to the demon slayer movie though, its still an absolute delight that we're getting spoiled with these movies these days.

Tyler

so excited to rewatch this movie like 5 times today

Umineko peak fiction

In terms of camera work, ost, voice acting, and just pure animation and choreography DS easily takes it. They set a new standard to production

Umineko peak fiction

Lets not act like CSM neg diffs ds in writing. They are both same quality tbh lmao

Tiber Septim

theres literally 0 debate she clearly loved him

Michael Velasquez

Im not sure why is a debate when the creator has state it LOL

Grae

I mean yeah ofc it was more hyped.. jjk had been the most popular manga in the world before it ended, and with 2 incredibly successful anime seasons that made it the most popular anime in the world for a time too. Where as csm's hype before this movie was really only contained to manga readers because it had 1, 12 episode season that came out 3 years ago so there wasn't much to get invested in.

Grae

Funny that you mention the Bakugo comparison, because after this movie released there was a war between the CSM and MHA fandoms over who would win in a fight with some insane art 😭 Search Reze vs Bakugo if you wanna see.

Umineko peak fiction

Seems to be a problem with this generation where everytime theres not a fight on the screen its called bad pacing. You def have brain rot. If DS movie was a 9.5/10 then csm is a 8.5/10. Akaza is a much better char then reze . Reze needed more screen time

Jerry Hernandez

Can’t wait to get off work today & watch this geks. Yall are the rezziest man.

Jake

Peakkk

Lemonsqueeze

You really think the Akaza sob story that was pretty much a copy/paste of Gyutaro was good writing? And the constant interjection of flashbacks ruining the pacing. The animation and music was fire tho.

Elay

It wasn’t mid, it did so much better than CSM. The only reason why its not out yet is because it did so well and people loved it so they decided to keep in airing to make more money. It was way more of an experience.

maite˙⋆✮

nah nah y’all ain’t ready for denji’s full power 😭🙌🏼

Umineko peak fiction

What about reze? You really think having not even 2 hrs of screen time is enough to elicit a emotional reaction to her char arc when she was barely fleshed out? Theres a reason DS movie sold 6x as more then CSM movie

Elay

Demon slayer did really well so they decided to keep it airing globally in theatres for longer to make it more globally recognized and to make money

Owari

Low tier bait

lian

can’t wait to rewatch this with yall

Owari

Reading comprehension devil strikes again

Owari

More sales does not equal better lmao

Umineko peak fiction

Oh all I have to do is bring up the failure that is csm p2 lol if we wanna talk bout writing

Navri

Beam's VA is infact the same VA of Okarun and Tanjiro

Umineko peak fiction

If you think CSM is anywhere close to being a intellectual work when it has so much gooner slop in it then big yikes lmao. CSM isnt even that unique when the MC literally acts like hes in a ecchi series

Patriicia

I love this movie sm, I went to see it in the theatre twice and the second time with my brother who hasnt seen CSM yet but he loved it

Lil Mimi

This anime was peak holy

Lemonsqueeze

Comparing sales of a 4 season anime and a 1 season anime is beyond stupid. Also i would rate Demon Slayer above Chainsawman as an anime ANY day, except for the 2 movies. The fact that you think comparing sales of the movies proves any point, shows me that this discussion is pointless.

Lil Mimi

cringe or not?

Lil Mimi

Bro how do they not get that hahah

Umineko peak fiction

who said anything about anime series sales? Im strictly talking about the movie sales for both Infinity Castle and Reze arc. Demon slayer destroyed every other animated movie this year in terms of success and its not even close so wtf you talking bout lmao

Lemonsqueeze

Eh, whatever. Let the likes do the talking.

Patriicia

I wish the audio was a bit louder

Synyster

The MC is literally a child who has had no social interaction with girls his whole life. So I’d say he’s acting pretty realistically for his situation

Chosos Wife

I'm so glad you guys understand Denji and know he deserves better than to be abused by all these women. The amount of people I've seen call it a Gooner anime is unreal. My boy is being straight up used, abused and molested his whole life. And he doesnt even know any different because he has virtually no socialization since he was a kid when his dad died, other than the Yakuza.

Chosos Wife

Regarding MAKIMA talking about the country and city mouse, when Reze is singing her Russian song on the roof, and it pans to Makima in her office, she's swaying her cup to the song, implying she's listening to her sing,

Conk

Nah. It was good

𝕯𝖎𝖆𝖓𝖆 𖤐

I love makima, but waiting till the last second was cruel, because Denji will always think Reze did not like him and she will always believe Denji set her up 🥀🥀🥀

Hobatty

omg I’m so happy 😭😭 I remember reading it when it came out and I was destroyed for a whole month, I don’t know, it’s just so tragic. it was peak but what comes next is on another level, trust me!! Reze my baby, she’ll always be in my heart 😭🤍

Lemonsqueeze

There's the reading comprehension again. 1 movie has 4 seasons 1 movie has 1 season Which one would usually have a bigger fanbase and thus, more sales?

Hobatty

you're out of touch

Fletch

i shit my pants everytime you guys shout at the start of videos

Ludwig

Demon Slayer has better effects, Chainsaw Man has better animation

Chosos Wife

McKay every 5 seconds - SHE'S SO COOL Me too McKay. Me too, she's one of my faves, 💖🤣

Umineko peak fiction

bro said let the likes do the talking LOL you seek other peoples approval for validation. Thats some weak ahh shi cause you cant even form a opinion for your self.

Umineko peak fiction

a movie cant have seasons ? wtf am i reading. Please look up the definition of a movie. DS is officially the highest selling animated movie of all time something CSM cant touch

Jack

Absolute cinema, I mean what a movie. The animation, art direction, just pure creativity. Such a good movie, and such a well told story.

E

now you guys gotta watch look back!!!!

Jack

Dang yeah fr

Sam

“Solo Leveling low diffs TYBW” this is low quality rage bait. Get a hobby that doesn’t involve hating on stuff for no reason lil guy

E

pls watch look back it’s another movie made by tatsuki fujimoto it’s so good!

Kim 555

Beam's voice actor plays Falco from AOT, Tanjiro, Kaneki, and Okarun

Seez .M

Great reaction. Watched this in IMAX. So freakin good. And rewatching this with you guys reminded of how good it was when I first watched it.

Seez .M

Anime film of the year will probably go to DS, although it was mid and it's a popularity contest. Might be a hot take but this blows the DS movie out of the water.

Umineko peak fiction

we just clapping back at the cringe CSM fans cause csm fans are obssesed with DS and JJK cause they both have achieved way more success.

JoLen

LET’S GOOOO

Sam

Brother you’re just as bad tho

Umineko peak fiction

Id be mad to if my series got over shadowed by better series aka JJK and DS. Theres a reason CSM barely crossed 200 mil for revenue meanwhile DS generated 700 mil. The whole world agrees that DS set a new standard unlike chainslop man where mappa was just using this movie as a test run to prepare for their fav series aka jjk

Patriicia

"Id rather die than work" I feel that 😭😭

Booger

DS glazer and solo leveling fan = 🧠💀

Booger

This movie makes me feel empty after every single time, reze still my goat

KimmyKim

Denji makes me so sad. Growing up in poverty has him so messed up, he thinks good food( proper food) tastes bad and bad food is good. He's used to eating anything to survive and the only way he can understand good things is if he can taste them like with the flower. Poor, sweet Denji!

Knoebility

MAPPA is unhinged. Wait until you guys see the new JJK stuff. Just saw it in theater yesterday. They just keep cooking.

Daniel Daniel

Respect to you guys for saving this for reaction instead of watching it in the cinema

Nanami's Wife

This movie was CINEMAAAA 🔥 The music was great, animation beautifully done, and plot/story had my heart wrenching🙏🏾🙏🏾 Around 2 years ago I randomly started reading the manga for chainsaw man but then I stopped and didn’t get back to it. Flash forward into present, I went to watch the movie. I knew what was going to happen in the movie bc I read this whole part in the manga. However, I left the theater as a whole new person😭 Tell me why I went home and I caught up to the manga in 3/4 days……MIND YOU I stopped around chapter 63 so I read 157 chapters in like 72-96 hours. And I gotta say is ITS WAS GREATTT Chainsaw man went up in my ranks after. I can’t wait for the next seasons and for you guys to react to it in these upcoming years🤭🤭🤭😁😁😁😁

Synyster

This dude just ragebaits lmao don’t engage

Nicholas Hooker

I hope yall have a nice HD TV for your viewing pleasure, and i doubt we as fans would be upset if you turned the lights down halfway, we miss a LITTLE bit of visual reaction so you get a bit more of a theater experience.

Chosos Wife

All shall be revealed in season 2 I believe. Which will hopefully be out in the next year or two fingers crossed!

Riley

Yeah just block the rage baiters is so much simpler

Lil Mimi

Wow, I didn’t notice that

Lusanagi

This isn't a spin-off, its directly what comes after season 1. As a manga reader I was grinning ear-to-ear the whole time I was in the cinema (except crying at the end)! Also you guys didnt comment on it being different but this art style is way closer to the manga than season 1 was, and subsequent seasons will probably look like this too! I heard there's gonna be a csm related announcement at Jump Festa (Dec 20-21) so praying for any info about season 2 🙏!!

Kim 555

Wtf did I watch 😭😭 like it looks good but that was a whiplash of events, especially at the end

Lil Mimi

Damn idk how I feel about dying in 2 months

Daniel Daniel

Also this is not a sidestory or a spin-off in any way, it's literally the next arc in the manga after s1. I would say this was the point in the manga where people realized this story is something special and it started taking off. The tragic romance feels yall catch after watching this movie is something every reader went through back then too. And the fact that it only gets better from now on is the crazy part

Lil Mimi

Bro ur weird 🤣

Hector

"She wanted to pull that mower" 15:55 😭😭😭😭

Nanami's Wife

Jack in the thumbnail was me when I was in the theaters😂😂

hayakawa fam defender

Season 2 with the big 3 arcs back to back will be peak chainsaw man i cannot wait😭

Nanami's Wife

You're so right, I think the Chainsaw Man movie was better than the DS movie. DS was still amazing but this movie just blew me out the water more

Nrock23

An assassin who fell for her target. What a sad movie about love. You could also say a lot of things about the spider and butterfly imagery during the pool scene. Could be Denji falling into her clutches. Or Reze could be the butterfly falling for Denji. Or both of them could be the butterfly and Makima is the spider. Both of them caught in her web. This is why I love this show. Screw Makima all my homies hate Makima

Umineko peak fiction

sorry i just didnt feel much attachment to reze. Fujimoto has a issue of introducing chars and barely exploring them and killing them off. P2 has the same issues but way wirst

Chosos Wife

It reduced his life span by two months, didn't make his life span be two months

Brady

It’s a travesty that the Demon Slayer movie got nominated for a Golden Globe but this one didn’t

Nrock23

Denji had a backup and all his money with him at the cafe. They would’ve ran away together. She meant it when she asked him at the fireworks

Vallll

I feel you 😭

Animeke

Truer words have never been said.

Animeke

Oh yea, I know what I'm watching later.

Animeke

Yep. 😭

ThirtyStik

I hope you guys have a really sick oled tv lmaooo

Vallll

You should react to the ending song Jane Doe! The lyrics are also so beautifully written.

Ettan

I was hoping you guys had watched it, awsome watching this tonight.

DontFailArtSchoolEren

reminds me of Ajin, the art style looks like some fan made project with choppy frames and thick line work and 3d looking on the faces its very jarring compared to the anime. great story telling and unique camera sequences though. demon slayer movie is actually cinema, this looked like some fan project with all the different styles of animation used.

Can’t touch this Gold

The chainsaw man glow up in studio gek. You guys are just getting started with this series. Too bad we'll have to wait forever, but at least the adaptation is taken care of. And due to a good performance, I think they'll focus on getting more people to work on it.

forthwanderer

the next arc is the best in the series I hope they make a movie out of THAT

Kasumii_

I always love when an anime can make you love a character in such a short amount of time, Reze was such a good character even though we know so little of her, all we get is what we see in this movie plus the small part where we're told about her childhood yet I feel like most people just can't help feel sad watching her die at the end, it kind of feels like they make us go through the same experience with her as Denji did, we're sat there for the first part of the movie slowly coming to like Reze then we're forced to realize the villain she really is, yet despite all that, when things settle down we can't even bring ourselves to hate her and even end up wanting her to have a happy ending, genuinely amazing writing to make us feel like that for a villain in the equivalent of 5 episodes I think in my 9 years of watching anime this might be the best animated thing I've seen from start to finish, not only is the quality 11/10 the entire time but just the creativity of every single scene was amazing, so many different scenes, different styles and they were all breathtaking Reze killing that guy then singing that song in Russian is my underrated favourite scene (maybe not underrated), it's just so well done, it's also just so eerie yet peaceful in a way and it's good foreshadowing for her backstory Also Beam's VA is Hanae Natsuki who has way too many notable roles to list so I'll just say he voices Tanjiro in Demon Slayer and Okarun in DanDaDan

Nico

Peak movie. I had an incredible experience on IMAX. Definitely one of all times. Reze best girl. The same way Denji gradually fell for Reze in the pool scene and the spider/butterfly allegory, she too slowly started falling in love with Denji but alas 💔 Unrelated but I hope you guys will consider checking out 100M when its out too. Same author as Orb and its insanely underrated.

JoLen

NOOO REZE DON’T GO DOWN THAT ALLEY

Zu

Unsurprising take from a Solo Leveling glazer

Zu

Should’ve been Solo Leveling low diffs TYBW in that alley instead of Reze 🥀

Ninjinzo

Solo levelling glazer don’t listen to this fool 😭

Ella

watching this in imax was truly an experience

JoLen

Iris Out has become a daily replay on Spotify. Somehow better than Kickback

Snow

"Such a big debate" no one is debating that. It's extremely obvious she loved him.

Ninjinzo

This is a direct continuation from season 1. Literally the next arc in the manga from where season 1 left off so it isn’t a spin off. It’s canon

Ninjinzo

Jjk movie isn’t an actual movie. More and so just a recap and sneak peak of season 3

Umineko peak fiction

Wishing death on someone cause they don’t glaze your hentai trash anime? Yeah your def fatherless

Nanami's Wife

Bro I love Reze. I hate Makima. The fact Denji will never know she did truly loved/cared for him. He’s thinking she bailed on him while her body turning is cold in the alleyway right in front of the cafe🥺 When she said “denji, to be honest, i've never gone to school either" MY HEARTTT My reaction when she went into the alleyway: DENJI! TURN AROUND DENJI! SHE CAME BACK FOR YOU!!!😖 Like my boy cannot catch a break, it’s sad

George B

Where did you guys find it to watch on TV?

cozo

every second of this movie is cinema 😭 unreal soundtrack and cinematography and animation

E g g

IT'S SO PEAAAAAAAAAAKKKK

Zu

You spend your free time trying to incite a negative reaction out of people with lobotomy level takes because you crave attention lil bro the only fatherless person here is you LMAO

Nanami's Wife

The way I was waiting for the “I’m out of time” song to play during Aki and Angel scene. I’ve rewatched that edit too many times to count😭

Phypsel

I think it came out today on crunchyroll

QuirklessEsty

Watched this movie in theaters and omg it's already out digitally!? Time to rewatch with the greatest fellas and fans on the planet!

Kite

rewatch of the show would be cool

Arallius

YESSSSSSSSSSS

Yhwach

Upload One Piece. I have to go to office in a short while.

cozo

😭 relax

Jmo

Denjis the web, Makimas the spider and Reze is the butterfly

Niklas Neumann

Just some stats...The Budget for this movie was about 4.1 Mio. $ and earned about 100 Mio. $ (about 40 Mio. $ in Japan and 18 Mio. $ in the US), making it a massiv financial success. Why is this so important? Most Animes are produced by a studio but bankrolled by investors who get the most of the profits. Chainsaw Man was mostly paid out of Mappas own poket and they get to keep most of the profit which enables them to grow even more. Hopefully they pay their animators more salary and hire more staff so they don't overwork their most important ressource.

Earthshatter

holy peak i loved this shit.

Tivy

Time for me to binge CSM because I feel left out LMAOOO

JFX.wav

When she starts singing on the rooftop 🤣🤣🤣 yall were so disturbed I’m actually crying

KasaiKouhai

crunchyroll actually uploaded all of season 1 on youtube

Cannon Andrus

Bro don’t ever speak to us like this ever again

Chisei19

i have watched this movie so many times i love it

Synyster

Nah. You should honestly be banned from this community with that fucking attitude. The entitlement is through the roof!

Umineko peak fiction

I’m only commenting under the comments that bash other series for no reason 🙏 you sound dumb as fuck cause I made fun of your shitty hentai series your gonna cry. Now go jerk off to your hentai you pussy virgin

Maj

Yeah watching this in the cinema was such an unreal experience, no qualms with waiting 4 years when the quality was this good

ninie

pls no more rewatches 💔

Dasha

I can’t believe they created this masterpiece on a $4.1M budget. You can feel the love and pride they put into their work

Kite

Beam it's not Jiji, it's Okarun and Tanjiro

Nrock23

Thank you! That’s how I see it too

Dasha

You should watch IRIS OUT (the opening) on YouTube because the one in the movie cut out the spoilers. The full opening is so peak

Yuion

I would be interested how much the animators got out of it because thats where the money should go, not the company

Dasha

The last movie Denji and Makima watched is the soviet anti-war film called Ballad of a Soldier (1959). I wish I could explain why both of them cried but you have to wait 🥀

Dasha

It’s a shame you guys can’t experience something like this in a theatre, just sitting in silence and taking it all in. Watching it alone with your own thoughts without being able to chat and joke would give it a completely different vibe I think

Dasha

In the final cafe scene, you can see that the menu has been wiped and rewritten. At the beginning black coffee was listed first with a star (the recommended item). But by the end, it’s moved to the very bottom and the star is gone. Reze changed it because Denji didn’t like coffee

Dasha

Not sure if you got this but Denji not being able to read kanji doesn’t mean he’s absolutely illiterate. He can read just in hiragana and katakana

Gambit

I always love how the spider during the pool scene is the best red herring ever. By the end of the movie, you realize that it was actually Denji that had caught reze in his web

Gambit

It’s even deeper than that when you actually look at it. The butterfly is a monarch, and by eating it the spider will also die. It can also be seen as Makima catching the both of them as it’s hinted constantly throughout the movie that Makima is watching

Dasha

Some people interpret the pool scene as the spider symbolizing Denji since Reze can’t use her powers in the water. In that reading she falls for him the way a butterfly falls into a spider’s trap. But I prefer a different interpretation where Denji is the butterfly, except this butterfly is poisonous. So in the end both the spider and the butterfly lose 💔

Dasha

Man that Reze’s song is such a vibe-kill for me every time 😂 Russian is one of my native languages so I understand the lyrics but the lyrics and pronunciation are done so badly that me and my partner were literally dying trying not to laugh in the theatre. How did they pour so much effort into everything else and then completely drop the ball on this song😂

MrPeaxie

Fujimoto the Mangaka said that if Denji wouldve ran away with Reze that it wouldve been the end of the manga. Sadly we didnt get the good ending and only got despair 😞

Sovereign

Talking about animation, some day, if you guys ever watch the Fate series, and get to the Haven's Feel movie trilogy. You'll see the best animation I've seen.

Dasha

Don’t say Reze sucks it’s Denji’s fault for not running away with her 😄

Taylor Blackwell

This was so good in theaters. I’m here for it!

Nami Swannn

And Reze will think Denji set her up 😭

Mr. John Kagurabachi

I highkey like this art style much more than season one’s art style. It looks way closer to the manga.

Mr. John Kagurabachi

The next arc is SOOOO HYPE. The first arc, the bomb arc, and the next arc should have been all released as a single 24 episode season. CSM is not that popular as an anime because they didn’t do 24 episodes like JJK.

ace

i never could have expected something this amazing

Dasha

Lmao I was watching the final fight and my apple watch sent me this notification “Your heart rose above 120 BPM while you seemed to be inactive for 10 minutes”

cozo

twin

Dasha

Just noticed that the menu in the after credits scene is written in hiragana and katakana even though normally you would use kanji for some words. Once again Reze did it so that Denji can read the menu

Dasha

“We don’t want Denji with someone like that” I feel like the whole fandom would disagree with this statement haha

Dasha

“Everybody wants the Chainsaw Man’s heart! What about my heart, Denji’s heart?” gives me goosebumps every single time Denji’s such a nice dude I just want him to be happy😭

tbone

yall should listen to the ending credit song "Jane Doe" by Kenshi Yonezu

Frizen

They have already watched Zero, UBW and Heavens Feel in the Juicy tier

Caraxes🐐DT

Finally peak is here my boy denji goated. Jjk next 🔥🔥

Grae

Same, I saw it with my dad the second time and he absolutely loved it even without seeing csm or many anime.

DontFailArtSchoolEren

this was so choppy at many scenes i didnt enjoy it as much as i thought, its fun with a nice little arc. mishmash of animator art styles made it hard to care for any of it, looney tunes rainbow splatter.

Nate Drew

Movie was amazing, my favorite part was when Reze popped her rainbow nuke and everything following that. Denji using his chains to restrain her and falling into the water was a beautiful scene.

testing 44u328

Watched it in theaters in 3D, the fight scenes hit so hard

Nonos

Making one piece fans look so bad 💔💔

mathiasmedswag

When Reze reaches for a handkerchief in the telephone booth, she was just about to kill him with a knife right there (revealed later that she is carrying one) but Denji giving her the flower changed EVERYTHING. So sad and beautiful😖

Dicker

OF COURSE its the one piece fans lmao

Dicker

I watched this movie 3 times in the theatre and now here i am watching it again with you guys and i nvr get bored this movie for sure is PEAK

Tyler

Knowing how the animation industry works they probably threw them a pizza party and then said get back to work

M1GZ

This movie is a direct sequel it starts exactly where s1 ended with them parting in their apartment, was so sorta surprised when Jack questioned if it was canon lol

Dasha

Same 😭 I’ve seen so many people go to this movie multiple times, and most of them have never done that for any other film (me included)

Enma

Wasn't able to watch this in theaters and I thought the digital release was gonna take like 9 months so I read the entire manga. Really shot up my rankings. Season 2 will be cinema.

Sam

That's a classic for any anime trying to speak a different language in the sub. They never try to sound correct :/

cozo

same i never thought csm could be so peak

nans

there were moments I felt as if I was levitating out of my seat watching this in IMAX. absolute unreal experience

TheSauceGuy

Awesome and depressing movie, but at least Beam is alive.

Grae

The world doesn't revolve around you, have a little patience and stop making the rest of the one piece community look bad.

Tyler

Everyone always thristing over Makima but real ones know that Angel is the hottest and should end up with Aki

Nami Swannn

Watched this movie in 4DX and it truly felt like I survived it by the end sooo fun 😂

Nanami's Wife

The way I would eat up a Aki and Angel fan fic but with me also being in the mix with them🤭

Lala

It was a sin that you skipped the ending soooonnnnnggggg!!!!! You’ve gotta watch the movie Look Back by the same creator, Tatsuki Fujimoto. The movie came out last year. The plot is totally different, but it’s just as epic as Chainsaw Man. Fujimoto is insanely artistic and a genius—just a different kind of genius than Oda.

Brady

Lol I was happy I chose to watch the Dub in 4D because I would not have been able to pay attention to the subtitles while getting thrown around in my chair

bondbond53

Denji my guy why are you imagining Angel in lingerie? Denji said 'I am a misandrist but when there's a pretty boy I can't help it'

Nami Swannn

Here's some random thoughts about the movie. Feel free to add more in the comments, there was a lot of discourse after this movie released and I can’t remember all of it lol: -The manga chapter where Denji rides Beam into battle was literally titled "Sharknado". -The song Reze sings isn't real but was written by Fujimoto to reflect her longing for a normal life and to die naturally in contrast with her mission. -Speaking of that scene, you can see Makima swaying her coffee cup to the beat of the song, hinting that she's been listening the whole time which is why she knew of the country vs city mouse convo. -While that question is cool, Makima's answer breaks the illusion of any of them being a safe option. Makima kills the country mouse just as easily as the city mouse. -After this movie there was a huge Bakugo vs Reze debate so it was funny to hear y'all comparing them 😂 -Fujimoto drew an alternate ending art of them two running away together happy... -Just to clarify, Reze isn't dead at the end since she's a hyrbid, but was captured by public safety. -The Typhoon devil was a baby because it wasn't in its mature/strongest form yet which is why Denji could defeat it. -Fujimoto has confirmed that Reze DID like Denji and I feel like its pretty obvious, especially when she decided to go back to the cafe so they can run away together. Sadly that leaves Denji to forever believe he was stood up by a girl who in the end, was willing to risk everything so they could both be free. And this could also lead Reze to believe that she was setup by Denji, the guy she risked it all -There’s lot of different interpretations to that Butterfly caught in the spiders web. It could def be what you guys thought, some also think of it as both Reze and Denji being caught in Makima’s web. Or maybe its more broad and represents how Reze and Denji are the butterfly in their own respective ways since they’re both shackled by groups and have no freedom If I remember any other random stuff I’ll add it in 🤔

Nami Swannn

LOL I first watched it in IMAX so i could properly concentrate

Enma

Best new gen fs

Diable Jambe Flores

I honestly didn’t know you could block people in here. So thank you! I’m better off now.

Belmu

This might be my favourite movie of all times, I couldn't think of a better adaptation to this arc. Y'all are NOT ready for what's coming next though!!

Vinny Deluca

Beam sounds just like Hanyabal in OP lol

Patriicia

thats so awesome! Glad your dad enjoyed it. I hope my brother already caught up with the S1

Patriicia

I read like 4 chapters including Reze arc and I was shook

Patriicia

is it really that bad?? 😭 I cant really speak Russian but my native language is Slovakian and I was like hmm is that Russian? But sounded a bit off. i was 100% sure its Russian when I heard the word "utro". But its the Japanese singer singing this and I bet its very hard for them to learn the right pronunciation.

Enma

hahaha I know what you mean, and trust me that feeling doesn't go away

Patriicia

damnit I might read more hahah. Im very intrigued now 😭

Kiyoh

just finished rewatch, cool to see it again and catch some of the details. movie is genuine peak love this arc, glad u guys enjoyed it

Farfaraway

Carter melting my eardrums right at the start of the video… lovely 😭

Bisky

Makima is evilmaxxing

Dasha

@Patriicia trust me it’s horrible and very cringe lol

Dasha

I was able to figure out what language is this only on “we will go drink coffee” which is 3rd line of the song. Also the subtitles sometimes don’t match at all which makes it even funnier

Patriicia

yes I noticed it!! With the Jane and penguins at aquarium 😂 that I noticed right away but that sucks that its that bad. But yeah I was really doubtinh if that really is Russian at first too. Mustve been a tough hear hahahah

Totenkreuz

8.5 is a crime. Your taste can never be trusted or valid anymore. You hit side character in this stream with that one.

C2-H5-OH

Beam's VA also plays Okarun in Dandadan, Falco in AoT, and Tanjiro in Demon Slayer

Matthew Valentine

I can't believe season 1 was 3 years ago like what even is time

Max Hinton

dare i say it but this is probably the greatest animation of all time. IMO it beats tengen vs gyutaro from demon slayer. I cant get over how fluid and beautiful the ENTIRE movie is, not just the climax, but everything in between is just too good. Mappa honestly the goats

Max Hinton

ay bruh thats a dude

Alkampus

This comment along with the profile name is killing me 😂

Max Hinton

Reze running to the cafe got me bruh... end the show with her and denji rekindling idec

Max Hinton

ur entitled to ur own opinion but to not care for any of it? Bruh even the intro was a beautiful piece of animation. They animate coffee better than how it looks in real life i swear

DietCocaine

reze tweaked out at that guy at the school because she was having a good time with denji and the guy reminded her that she was on a mission to steal chainsaws heart

Frosty

the way you rate movie vs show differently is odd but 8.5 is wild, what could have been better? not saying it had to be a 10 and nothing could ever make it better but 8.5 is criminal for what is the best animation and camera work ive ever witnessed or heard of in anime (from start to finish). I agree its not the deepest plot of all time but that shouldnt matter much, if at all, when the execution is this good. Same logic as to why Chernobyl is pretty commonly rated as perfect or almost perfect, you cant do what it did any better, a masterclass in execution.

Shaun V

I'm so happy this movie is finally making people realise how strangely moving and beautifully artistic chainsaw man is

Jonas Teigen

@Solo. Nah CSM is definitely the best new gen, S2 will be the greatest shonene season ever, and it clears all of jjk and kagurabachi. And part2 has some minor pacing issues, but the current arc is actually peak and far from done, part 2 is peak.

Jonas Teigen

Yea Mappa even said Chainsaw Man is their passion project, so the adaptation is definitely taken care of. Also, it's a 99% chance we get S2 announced this month, so we won't have to wait too long for S2, max 1.5 years.

kuza

just watched this for the first time before yalls reaction... unreal. im distraught and amazed

kuza

...

kuza

im so suprised hes alive how tf did he tank that shit 😭😭😭

kuza

im taking this animation ive just witnessed over fate, this is the greatest animation and style ive seen personally

SAMARA

It's not always about animation. Personally I wanted more of the story devlopment and it was rushed a lot ngl. Hey it's just my opinion. I had high hopes on the story part . I like chainsaw man tho I hate gooning animes

SAMARA

Did you see fate heavens feel. It was realised over 10 years ago and has the same fluidity

Frosty

That’s the exact reason why I don’t think it’s perfect

Brikena

I’ve been obsessed with the soundtracks ever since I watched the movie when it came out in October🫡 Kenshi Yonezu even ended up in my Spotify Wrapped in barely two months because I’ve had his music on repeat the whole time😭

Patriicia

ohh niceee! Thank you

T.Yaseen

Reze 💔💔, I guess she killed way too many people to be kept alive huh, my boy Denji still gave her a second chance man what a Goat... Makima is such a mystery man. 9.4/10 Movie for me, Loved it!

NINJA SWORD

This has one of the best animations I’ve ever seen, top 3 for sure the budget must have been insane

NINJA SWORD

It’s just IMDb thing, what this was lacking is only plot progression. You can check movies there like Dune2 and high rated ones are like 8.6/8.5 so it’s fair.

Zu

Surprisingly only $4M

DontFailArtSchoolEren

i found the demon slayer movie to be more comfortable viewing experience, this was too jarring and looney tooney for me, you can see the difference in frame rate on many action scenes.

Yo Dani

"only" lol

Yo Dani

damn.. i guess time for me to rewatch it haha

kuza

i couldnt help but be amazed at the animation every second of it 😭

kuza

man the rewatch hurts more

kuza

the scene of reze taking down that murderer guy is the sickest shit ever

Vextipher

This movie gives me "I really want to stay at your house" vibes but replace house with cafe. Depression Man. 10/10

kuza

the ending scene of their fight jumping into the water... MY GOD MAN 😭😭😭😭

kuza

8.5 is disrespectful

Dasha

Why are you being sarcastic, 4M is a very low budget JJK0 $15M Demon Slayer infinity castle $20M One piece Red $15M Your name $7-8M Weathering with you $11-12M And CSM still clears all of these movies

Max Hinton

thats fair. I think its the art style imo. Demon slayer has lots of blocks of colors and more CGI'esc. Mappa has so many hand drawn frames that it does feel a bit jarring i guess as opposed to smooth

jay

beam's va is tanjiro's va

katsuki’s wife

This movie is a masterpiece. Now I want to read manga

Enma

Fun fact - the author of Chainsaw Man had several assistants throughout his career and some of those assistants later went on to create their own manga. The most notable ones being “Hell’s Paradise”, “Spy Family” and “Dandadan”.

Maj

For real, this rewatch made me remember just how tragic it was 😭😭

kuza

i cant stop thinking about this movie more and more icl 😭😭

CHIEF

I can fix her

CHIEF

welp, nvm

GKCzar

As a russian speaker. When reze started singing, took me a sec but i Had a half second moment where I was thinking "wait a sec, why do I understand Japanese all the sudden" then quikly realizing she is singing in russian. Their is an accent, def not a native speaker. But better than most hollywood movies ive seen where they try to speak/sing in russian as non native. Props to the Japanese voice actress.

CHIEF

☹️

Chrissy

Finallly have the time to watch this react! Yay!

Chrissy

I feel like all Reze wanted was to be a country mouse. But she got caught in between the gun devil and makima. The devil’s are almost like slaves 😭

Chrissy

I can’t believe yall didn’t listen to the ending song. Noooo 😭😭😭

Chrissy

8.5 is fucking crazy lmao. This was literally cinematic. A beautiful movie. Seeing it in theaters was so amazing too! Wish I could see it on the big screen again 😭

The seeker

8.5 is a really good score? There's a reason you people aren't critics because u only know how to give 10 or a 1 lmao

Tony

That's what I'm saying!! 8.5 is nowhere near high enough. At least Rotten Tomatoes gave it a higher score of 96%. One of the most enjoyable, insane movies I've seen in the last few years. Absolute masterclass from start to finish

Sam TV

You’re a bot

joursh

real

Synyster

The Geks never rate things lower than a 7. So a 7 for them is garbage. When a 7 in reality is just ok. So an 8.5 compared to what they believe a 7 is, is a pretty bad score for this movie.

katsuki’s wife

I’ve just finished the manga after watching this and we are NOT ready to what about to happen I’m literally speechless examining each frame and watching explanations on yt

Yo Dani

I mean yeah, Denji hasnt been to school, but we have seen in season 1 that he cant read Kanji only. The Japanese language has 3 different characters tho. Kanji, hiragana and katakana

Yo Dani

No Jack.. Typhoon didnt make the storm for them to meet up. Typhoon was working with the other guy.. it was literally in front of your eyes

Yo Dani

Cannon, Aki can't see stuff like that into the future, he can only see a few seconds to save himself in combat. Tho the time devil or whatever that tree was, can choose to show him future events

Ovington

I'm assuming you haven't read the manga? But this arc is incredibly important as Chainsawman is more about the character development imo. The plot progresses but what ends up setting it apart is experiencing what Denji goes through, although the anime is still to early for that to be apparent. If you come back and watch this film after having seen more of the story it hits so hard. Damn sad. This is the beginning of the rest of the show.

Deji Jan

havent had the chance to see this one yet, it was fun, hope s2 comes out soon (at least we have jjk and opla coming out in 2026)

Kd

Brotha…peak🤝

kuza

this movie has been stuck in my head ever since i saw it release digitally

DonDuh103

Bro Makima referring to Denji as a dog when she explaining how her friends in the country used dogs to kill the mice!?! This is like Twilight your either team Reze or team Makima!

DonDuh103

All these commenters explaining how to rate a movies reminds me of the yelp reviewers from a South Park episode!!😂😂😂

H2KKI2

Just so sad that in the end Reze actually loved Denji for the way who he is. She went back for him in the end and Denji will prob never know that she actually came back for him ;/. Reze was by far one of my all time favorite characters after watching this.

Adi Agustha

Kensuke ushio is the goat

Hyped Toj

sooo good, and yeah Beam's & Tanjiro's VA are same

Yhwach

I am so much hyped for Season 2

Caraxes🐐DT

Same I just have no clue when it’s dropping…hope it’s not too long tho I know mappa got so much dropping in next year.

Legacy

its like they want us to feel pain. Lin, the Chainsaw Man editor, said in an interview, "Changing perspective, Denji was able to fall asleep while embracing the girl he loved— its a happy scene. Lending a girl shirt is every guy's dream" I haven’t read the manga, but at the beginning of the anime Denji lists some of his dreams to Pochita, and one of them is falling asleep next to a girl. That makes the quote even sadder, because he’s talking about when they fell to the bottom of the ocean together passed out. I don’t think that’s what Denji had in mind when he was dreaming about falling asleep hugging a girl. 😢😢😢

smif

@synyster "just ok" would be a 5 or lower, a 7 is good.

Sock

Bruh I hate makima so much

Pudding

After rewatching, I can confirm my rating for this movie hasn't changed, it's still a 10. There's nothing they could have done even better to me. Animation, music, pacing, everything was perfect. This movie has moved me deeply, I would now consider it one of my favorites. It's obvious how much love has been put in this.

Riya

top tier anime fighting. I really like Reze's power, she had so many abilities

jrnoodles

Thanks Geks! I did not think I would enjoy this movie that much. Holy. I loved it.

KilaNIX93

It took me 3 watches now (not here lol) to actually finally realize.. SPOILER## That Denji was running away at the end! No clue why it took that long to even see that scene, but man.. Packed up, cash on hand. Ready to go..

Linn

Does this mean you’ll finally react to the CSM endings? ;)

Linn

Just like season 1 :(

Linn

I’ve been begging them to watch Look Back since the release, it’s a crime they haven’t yet. Heavenly Delusion is also on my top list for them to watch, I know they’ll love them both.

Kayanolive

A rewatch before the movie with all the missing endings plus opening would have gone hardddd

Kayanolive

1:26:08 Look at the building on the left. They use its windows as a countdown. Insanely cool detail!

Kayanolive

Ohhh yeah that didnt click for me somehow. 💔

rheed_

Recently got the chance to sit down and watch the movie recently. I thought this arc in the manga was awesome, but something felt missing for me. The movie was cinema, but again I didn't really connect with it emotionally, even less so than the manga. There was a review I read after that really helped me understand the movie's subtle complexity a lot better, particularly in regards to Reze's character, so here are some excerpts: "The truth is, Reze really does love Denji, despite what she tells him on the beach at the end. At first, she seduces him because she’s on a mission, she made a deal with the Gun Devil and needs to bring him Chainsaw Man’s heart. But she genuinely falls for Denji when he admits he’s never been to school. Just like her, a Soviet lab experiment, he’s been denied freedom since birth. "...she’s torn inside, should she fulfill her duty to the Gun Devil, or save the boy who’s suffered exactly like she has? The only one who could ever truly understand what it means to have your childhood stolen by heartless adults: the Soviet Union for her, the Yakuza for him. "I’m convinced that if Denji had answered “the country mouse” instead of “the city mouse,” everything would’ve changed. Reze is the country mouse; Makima is the city mouse. When Reze asks Denji to run away with her, she means it. She’s not lying, no matter what she says later on the beach. "Reze could’ve escaped easily. She’s a trained spy, she could’ve just boarded the train and disappear forever. But when faced with the final choice, to run away or go back to the only person who’s ever truly understood her, she turns around. Because she realizes she loves him. "And in the end, as always, the real loser is Denji. "Fujimoto (aka the biggest bastard alive) lets Reze see that Denji loves her too. That he’s ready to run away with her. But he doesn’t let her reach that happy ending... "Denji, though, never learns the truth. He’ll never know Reze is dead. He just thinks she rejected him, like everyone else before her." Jack couldn't have said it better haha, "The tragic tale of Reze" is right!

Seez .M

There's in no way DS was better animated or even had better fights lmao

Seez .M

The DS movie was one of the worst movies i've seen all year.

Seez .M

Ngl, MHA S8 and this destroy DS's animation

Max Hinton

THIS def destroys DS animation. MHA S8 has moments that are better but i'd take DS season 2 animation imo, hard tho cause of recency bias i wanna say mha s8

dia

FUN FACTTTT!! Beams VA is literally the same as Tanjiro!!

ThatJakeChap

That's only if you're considering the score without thinking about how they rated other things which I believe is Synysters point. If they have never rated anything lower than a 7 (I'm just assuming it's true based on the statement) then an 8.5 is indeed only good. I'd have to say I agree with his view. They've rated so many things 9.6+ that I would consider mid 8's at most. Even if you dismiss that as different tastes, I don't think anyone can deny they rate skewed very high. Initially I actually dropped the series when it came out but gave it another go now and for me the movie was a 9.2. I don't think it could have exceeded any higher in animation, music or my enjoyment of it but there isn't anything very special about the plot or characters per say that I think elevates it over other similar anime. It felt a lot like a character study of both Denji and Reze which I think they did fairly well but there wasn't exactly a huge focus on anyone else so it's hard to go any higher on the rating.

Osiris704

Going through the comments and not seeing enough Beam glaze lmao. Bro was ride or die from the jump

Mansur

Thanks man that helped me understand it a lot

dash12321

sometimes I feel like the fox devil has the same problem as Santa titan from AoT.....just chew your damn food ffs!

Kyle

"Sounds like Tanjiro a little bit." It literally is lol.

Christian F

The Reze hate is unreal. You have to look at it through the lens of the fact that every single thing that Reze says was honest. And if he had chosen to run away with her, she truly would have tried to protect him.
