Solid ending

KrisSto

The final battle was decent but man that epilogue was the real finale.

2026-10-09 07:00 Dare I say this ending was actually pretty good. There’s a few things that fell flat but overall the end of the story was satisfying and wrapped up well enough
2026-01-01 12:13

Poragami

the thumbnail looks so funny, Carter's just locked tf in

Brady

I have only seen season 1 of this show but Tiktok keeps showing me videos of people making fun of the final season lol

THE QUEEN IS BACK

Conk

I hate mid and trash

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

I gotta watch it on my own first. It will either be trash or legendary. Anyway Father Dadrus seems to be in a weird place

Rae

ohhh im so happy el is thereee

pineapplegreg

I enjoyed it more than I was expecting too.. my main overall issue is wtf they did to the character of Mike Wheeler, especially these last few seasons. Season 2 is still my personal favorite

Bailey gochenouer

You guys call everything mid and trash, none of you are ever pleased with anything

Kim 555

A lot of unanswered questions, so many plot holes, fight was so quick, monster was useless, no major injuries or deaths. Vol2 to the finale is giving me GOT 8 flashbacks. They couldn't even own up to to the death of ONE main character, they had to make a fantasy scenario and keep it ambiguous. 10 years to the trash. My eyes were so dry I was so flabbergasted from how underwhelming it was. I saw so many fan theories that were way cooler than how they wrapped things up. I'm just disappointed :/

Kim 555

15:04 Carter you know what's so fucking crazy?? That small talk they had wasn't even scripted, the Duffers were just gonna side lines their storyline and act like nothing happened. Noah Schnapp said in an article that he asked the Duffers to add that so his storyline feels complete.

Conk

I only call things that are mid and trash, mid and trash.

Nana_44

So happy Carter and el were here❤️

Nana_44

Despite how not great it was I’m going to fr miss this show 💔

Vextipher

At least we got El for the last episode lol

Kim 555

stuf? I can give my opinion on the episode, that's what the comments are for. You can scroll btw.

Kim 555

This season made season 3 look good. Only volume 1 cooked then it went downhill

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

When Iron Maiden started playing during Dustins speech I stood up and cheered wow. Rest of the episode was..a lot of garbage with some good stuff

Indifferent Denji

People tend to feel personally attacked when u dont like theirfavorite show

cozo

the end of an era

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

You're 100% right. The amount of literal mistakes in the writing is astounding when you notice them. The duffers have actually forgotten their own story lol

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

I saw this omg. They were actually going to leave their storyline like that after the coming out with no talk about it whatsoever lmao😭 get me out of here this is hell

Kim 555

First it was Mike being the 4th to hug him after he came out, then they even tried to not let them have a conversation. Like aren't they supposed to be best friends?? They butchered that. They also didn't need to write Will to have a "crush" on Mike from the beginning to the end of season 5 just for him to "accept himself." The Duffers explanation to that was that they had so many crushes that didn't like them back, that's it. Just sloppy writing for a queer character. I'm so tired of straight people writing queer people having unrequited love stories with a straight person. I would've accepted that storyline if they ended it early or at least made it obvious that Mike didn't like Will back. They instead made them close and intimate, queerbaiting queer fans and they said that they were aware of that but didn't care to address it at all. It's just bleak

JAYN

When I saw the article it actually made me so upset for Byler fans. I didn’t think the duffers were going to try and sweep it under the rug. Kind of messed up.

T.Yaseen

1:17:39 Cmon Cannon they obviously climbed down the tower 😭

Matthew Hunt Davies🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I didn't really enjoy season 5 but the finale was probably my favourite of the season as it had some of the best moments of the season. The last 40mins at the end was especially great. It reminded me more of prior seasons, and felt so different to S5. The main fight was a bit underwhelming but Henry's actor put on a really good performance. Murray should have died. His entire character this season was awful. Atleast if they killed him, they could've said they killed a pretty big character.

Nyx

I think I had more eye rolls in this episode than I did my entire life Anticlimactic is understatement didn't answer a single question and what happened to the d-bats and d-dogs they just took a vacation or something 🤔 my favorite part is how everyone in the group is vastly more competent and better shot (looking at you Rambo Nancy🙄)then literally U.S. Special forces and somehow able to damage a giant Freaking Kaiju with a single M16 and some flares For people who ever complain about LoTR multiple endings never talk again this had a HOUR LONG ending the one thing I did like was Joyce and Hopper's ending and the "kids" tho handful of them at least should of been DEAD

ninie

I couldn’t even be happy during the epilogue because El didn’t get her happy ending bruh

ninie

YAYY ELLE IS BACK AND CONGRATS CARTER !!!

Whyrie

I think Steve kept the bat in the trunk of the Beamer. 🥲

Jude’s IFs

Ngl I didn’t like El’s ending. I didn’t like it open ended and either way both options are sad cause she’s either dead or alive but alone and likely will never be able to see her friends and family again

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

I'm so sad she deserved so much better. Just suffering from beginning to end

Ashley H.N

Ngl if we were going to get a bittersweet ending, they may as well just let the villain win at the end.

celery

i’m sorry but this ending was so cliche. i rolled my eyes so many times im disappointed

BiggestOttoFan

I did not like that Will's love story amounted to a random guy introduced 2 seconds before the show ended. The guy has no lines. There's no hand holding. No hug. No kiss. He might not even be real because that seemed to be Mike theorizing or saying ideal futures. It just seems kinda yikes that they put Will on center stage this season but treated his love life like an afterthought. We got several Lumax and Jopper scenes but no Rovickie in the epilogue and Will was done dirty. Mike also barely did anything in Vol 2 and the finale. The Duffers promised he would be back in a leadership role this season but after Vol 1 he just sinks into the background. It's also weird that despite him spending all of last season telling Will that they needed to be a team going forward they hardly spent any time together. Apparently Noah Schnapp had to ask for the scene on the radio tower between them to be added in. They also just gave El a repeat of her ending in S1. With her being gone and maybe she's alive or maybe she isn't. I wish I liked the finale more. I really do.

celery

and that was pretty much their only interaction the whole episode like what were they thinking

Philbo

Like the more i think about the ending, the worse the ending becomes.. like hell man. - built up the mind flayer for 5 seasons and made Vecna to be this big bad just for them both to be taken out in 5min with NO Injuries or casualties - Demogorgans, Demodogs, DemoBats, etc. just went on vacation - how is the being that is the mind flayer that all of there powers practically came from, not use anything in the big fight? - Military just said "aw shucks el's gone? well lets pack up and go home - That speech Hopper gave el about having a future felt pointless to me considering how she ended up isolated from everyone anyway - Mike and El's relationship was built up for 5 seasons just for them to get hoe'd in the end while EVERYONE else gets there happy ending - I dont get how will is just perfectly fine considering how intertwined he was with the mind flayer/Vecna i know im missing more but man....

ninie

If she can’t be happy no one can idc

ninie

How did season 4 finale felt more like a finale than this 💔

celery

it’s because it took so long bruh that all they could come up with was a mid marvel nothing burger ending

Rae

tbh i’m glad we didn’t have anyone die just bc the show is famous doesn’t mean we have to be depressed abt the ending, after everything the characters been through they all deserve a happy ending, the only thing i’m upset abt is how we’re not sure if el is alive or not but i hope she is and that shes happy

Errr

It was definitely left to interpretation an ending wasn’t confirmed

ninie

Elle saying to let Millie do her thing w her lips and calling her body tea is exactly why I need her in reaction videos

Ham5ter

So is the military just going to ignore the fact that Hopper and Nancy killed American soldiers 💀

T.Yaseen

I loved the ending, I just wish they somehow let Mike and El see each other at the end one last time.

Jx1p

The real loose end is how the military got a helicopter in the upside down

Daniella

Yayyy i’m glad Elle was back for the finale!! i just finished watching and crying on my own, time to rewatch and cry again 😭

Ham5ter

Dude, what about the pregnant woman that were being experimented on at the military base. Did they get evaporated 🥹

Daniella

I do wanna say though that despite his very obvious rushed ending Jamie Campbell Bower (my husband) did an amazing job as Vecna, like acted his butt off in every single scene, and was terrifying even in his human form as Henry. He’s struggled so much with alcoholism and other things but i’m happy he’s come back as such a great actor i hope he’s booked and busy from now on :)

Nyx

Yes lol the military was just like yeah ok were done here don't worry that you killed about 50 servicemen you can be sheriff again

Saggy

caden in for the mha rewatch!!!

Jude’s IFs

Somehow hopper and nancy aren’t going to prison for killing a bunch of government soldiers and Max is able to graduate with her class after missing two years of school

Tyler

I love Finn and think he’s a good actor but it genuinely felt like they held a gun to his head and forced him to film that kiss

Vextipher

Yeah same. Even if it's a scene in her mind like how she said goodbye, like that'd be their own place.

Male’ya Lewis

Sad el and Mike didn’t get the ending they deserved but everyone else did.

Sage

Mad underwhelming unfortunately

Dio

Overall I thought the ending was good but a little too predictable and played it safe. Would have liked the final fight in the Abyss to be more challenging and I wanted to see more plot twists. Still enjoying to watch though and left satisfied at the very end.

ninie

Cannon is me when El died like are we fr rn

Latest

They said they were dying anyway

Warsame

I knew Steve was hot but DAMNNN time skip Steve WALK ALLLL OVER MEEE

Sam

He’s a very very good actor. I hope to see him in more stuff in the future. That said, Vecna is a terrible, toothless, stupid villain after season 4. He was cool and competent in season 4 and then turned into a total joke this season. What a waste.

Sam

The LOTR endings are perfection and needed every second. They are not in the same league as whatever that finale was lol

St4rscream

Having more of evil/terminator Henry was cool

Kim 555

Since y'all finished a Live Action show, can we get Heated Rivalry next? It's this really cool show about hockey. It opened my eyes to how cool hockey is. It's about two hockey players who got beef and trying to win against each other. It's rated 9.2/10 IMDB, it's solid :)

Nomaan

Erm. I’m not sure if it’s for the boys😭

Molly

Congrats Carter! 🍼

Sam

The good: 1. some of the epilogue endings (Steve, Dustin, Lucas/Max, Hop/Joyce) 2. Song choices (purple rain will never be a bad choice, obviously) 3. Some performances (Hop, Steve, Vecna) 4. Derek saying “suck my fat one” and throwing his absurdly chubby middle finger at Vecna The bad: 1. Incredibly underwhelming final battle (the big bad of the series dies in 5 minutes to a single gun, a flare, and a flamethrower - it feels like it wouldn’t have even been a threat if Vecna had succeeded ngl) 2. Significant / distracting plot holes and lots of stupid contrivance to drive the plot (the military just… let them go???? They just forgot that all the demo-creatures existed and they were totally absent??? Their plan never accounted for coming back through the gate into an active military base? They just left all their plans sitting out on a literal presentation slide after the military finds out where they are because they suddenly remembered the giant tower next to their base after ignoring it for two years? Etc.) 3. Weak / cringe dialogue (the convo between Steve and Jonathan simping over Nancy is a great example) 4. Too much green screen and Netflix lighting - maybe it’s just my TV but it was very very obvious and the lighting is the flat, terrible lighting that’s taken over everything lately and is ruining the unique aesthetic that lots of shows (including ST used to have) 5. Pacing (they spend almost as much time roasting the NPC principal character as they do fighting a literal space Kaiju) I have more issues but this is already too long. Honestly, this was super disappointing and calling it mid would be a generous. 4/10 finale

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

I was so on board with Mike/El until season 3 when it became so obvious (in my opinion) that their relationship wasn't great especially at that time in their lives. The way El learned how to make out before she knew what kind of clothes she likes is just depressing. And arguably Mike has been a horrible boyfriend who brought more pain than good, especially in s4 and I think El deserves better, to live with her family and friends so she can finally find herself in a way she hasn't had the opportunity to yet. And can we talk about how in their final moment she says I love you and Mike still can't say it back??😭 I would have been more down with them finding each other again when they're older or something. As for Mike he's probably my most disappointing part of this show because he didn't really have an arc at all compared to the other characters. I honestly would have preferred him to die over El, with like an epic sendoff to cement his role as the heart of the group. Idk. I also thought he would be Vecnas target this season so we could see inside his mind and his memories to explore some depth of his character because he just seems so empty? Like hello is anyone home? Anyway I'm not a fan of the open ending so El actually being dead would have been better than this Iceland thing because as Carter said, it was kinda stupid. Unless they made it clear that it was really just Mike telling a story And don't even get me started on Will/Mike

Nyx

Yeah ik for the people that dare complain about how long the masterpiece ending of ROTK was. This ending was an HOUR long it was awful

Vextipher

This season felt so "try to wrap up" without the feeling of properly wrapping things up and half-done. Dr. Owens absent, Suzie left out, and connections for characters felt so disconnected by the end. Not to mention final episode had no Demogorgan/dog/bats, and even Erica and Mr. Clark only get that opening scene to "shine"? At least let Erica be the leading girl for the new kids group DND. Vecna/Flayer was literally 12 minutes worth for the conclusion of the main Bad behind the whole show and was so disappointing. Like add some Henry and/or Eleven beats, give us some back and forth between the sides, have Henry rage or lament or something - ending it at Joyce and those flashbacks of everyone was good but the execution (lol) was lacking. I was happy to see that Henry cave moment and validated that Flayer was more the driving factor. And that Henry/Will moment hit well and gave Eleven/Billy vibes though it didn't go any further for the plot. That Eleven ending, like what? If that's where they go at least add a scene after Mike figures out what Eleven did, and then at the end after he leaves it cuts - it's just Mike in Eleven's mind space, and he finally sees her again so at least they have that space and potential hint that Mike would leave/take a flight to be with her where he said they'd leave someplace far away. It was right there! Got more to say but the show overall, all-together, it was okay but feels like lost potential to me.

mar zelle

man i will miss elle and caden so much pls do something else with them 🙏🏻🙏🏻

🖤

El dying still makes me ball my eyes out😭 and not only that I bawl my eyes out because this was literally the end of my childhood right here when it ended, bro😭

Tivy

Oh yes they would LOVE it

🖤

Same 😭

Tivy

The most predictable ending ever 😭 I’m just glad we got Lumax endgame

Tivy

I fear you’re not wrong. I’d give the show a 7/10 overall but this season is so buns

Sam

One of the few redeeming parts of that finale was treating them like a real couple for the first time in a while

Major

The first half of season 5 was weaker than first half of season 4. Second half of 5 was better than second half of 4.

jed d'angelo

This show really went down the drain… I really wanna make a long comment breaking everything down but I just can’t the show literally got butchered so hard its sad asf. So i’ll make this short. That last battle was so bad…Remember when this show was dark and had people melting into a flesh monster in season 3 and it took the crew like 4 episodes just to kill it? Dw tho the final monster that is literally 100 times bigger and is the actual real mind flayer dies to some simple guns and fire and doesnt injure or kill a single character. They only had to use like 30 M80’s (aka dynamite) on the monster in season 3 to even get it to flinch. This show honestly really did get the GOT ending. All green screen, harsh lighting, shit final battle, and to top it off the show will be another “yeah its really good but theres no point in watching cause the last season is so bad it ruins the other previous seasons” The same thing we all hear and say about GOT. I really feel like the Duffers got pushed out of the writing room and director chair or something like Netflix had to have just not let them do anything cause wtf happened to how they used to do shot composition and lighting. Even season 4 still had the dark tones and under lighting. Now its ALL just green screen, front facing light, no shadows, all close ups, zero camera movement, and worse of all horrible make up/clothing. Just really really sad. Overall this season was a major let down and it makes me angry cause this show actually used to be one of my GOAT shows. 6 out of 10 for the season.

Major

I actually am completely satisfied with what happed to Elle.

Vextipher

Nah, I bet you didn't predict that Eleven would use... Pocket Sand! lol

ccy

maybe i'm just easy to please but i really loved the finale. it felt like an (almost) perfect way to wrap up the series. having joyce be the one to ultimately kill vecna and the flashback sequence showing all the pain and loss he put all the characters really broke me. i was kinda worried after volume 2 that one episode wouldn't be enough to wrap everything up but I'm satisfied with how it all turned out. the epilogue especially felt so special to me as i'm sure it did for other og fans. i'm gonna miss this show sm i'm sick ....

ccy

unfortunately they kinda had to die or the cycle wouldn't really be over

McKay Carter

Dr Kay (Doom) pissed me off so much

🖤

Real

Tivy

I like how you guys spent the whole first 5 minutes predicting who’s going to die.. Um so about that! 😀

Sam

My thoughts are super similar. And the Netflix lighting / green screen combo is absolute trash, I hate it.

Tivy

I think it’s just moreso the fact that it was insanely predictable and uncreative. It was ultimately “satisfying”, but it didn’t have the stakes or the feeling of a finale. So many loose ends and lazy writing choices. I’m glad that most people are able to feel happy with it though! I can’t help but be bothered by the flaws personally.

Yuion

The whole military plot is what really dragged this whole season down for me. I would have loved for the final season, especially after that ominous S4 finale with the big gate opening, to be one where the military and the people come together to fight this big bad... but i also see how this would be too simple and generic

T.Yaseen

Needed her slimed i'm ngl lmaooo

🖤

Reall like please get her outta here😭

🖤

Even though the ending of El dying killed me still glad to see Max and Lucas is going strong

HrlIEJB

what plot holes bc there really wasn’t any i can think of 😭

Klo123

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 10 years the look on Mike at the end killed me now I don’t know how to feel when one piece ends

🖤

Real mike’s face killed me

TheSauceGuy

Maybe a niche reference, but controllers from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. be like: 53:48

jed d'angelo

No offense to anyone cause I don’t hate but… Yeah I don’t think the group of Mormon boys are gonna watch the show about gay hockey players having sex…

ccy

me too as heartbreaking as it is

ccy

saw someone on twitter say they dont know how they're ever gonna rewatch s1 knowing what happens to mileven bro someone stab me rn

🖤

Omg I know it’s hard to view to show the same way knowing that El dies, I know I keep mentioning it in this comment section but like I cannot get over it😭

Daniella

I agree, he could have been much more formidable but he lost to a rushed plot i'm afraid

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

Best part of the episode was the use of music. Iron Maiden, Prince, David Bowie and Pixies 🙌🏼

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

That's crazy, I wanna rewatch season 1 and 2 immediately to remind myself why I love this show so much

Jessica

But they left it open if el died or not right? Since mike started telling that story, and they all said “I believe” it’s not confirmed, and also saw a post from their insta with a picture of Finn and Millie captioned “I believe”

🖤

To be honest, when I rewatch this, I probably won’t watch season five again. It made me so depressed. I’m so sad about it not because it was bad just because it broke my heart el didn’t get her happy ending and her dying about killed me. But either way I believe 😭

🖤

Either way it’s true or not, I believe 😭

Chosos Wife

I loved the 45 minutes of slice of life but couldn't enjoy it because I was just on edge waiting for something bad to happen 🤣 I will say, I love El as a character. She deserved a normal life, married with Mike, a few kids, grandkids for Hop. Visiting waterfalls. I'm devastated she died. HOWEVER this girl pissed me off. The whole conversation with Hop saying how he's her dad etc but suddenly "Oh I'm not a child anymore so you can't tell me what to do and your daughter who was dying of cancer didn't have a choice to die but I have the choice and I'm gonna take it and leave you daughterless once more." And then giving back the blue hair tie?! ALSO WHYYYYYY did she stand right AT THE ENTRANCE of the gate to die. Her boyfriend and dad are screaming crying trying to save her, know she's going to die, and she's literally stood there for the whole time essentially making them watch her death! For a second time! That screamed selfishness to me. I know she wanted to look at them in their last moments but did it ever occur to her that it's cruel to make THEM look at HER during her last moments like wtf? El deserved a better ending. And as much as I love the cast, the fact that no one died except El made it all feel cheap and easy. Death is sad but can make people and stories grow for the better. The fight felt anticlimactic and over too fast. Henry was acting his ass off though. I cried a lot but mainly just because it's ending after a whole decade and I got to see the kids grow up, not because I enjoyed the ending. Dustin doing his graduation the exact same way Eddie wanted to do his made me sob though.

Jessica

okay so the duffer brothers did confirm it’s just Mike being optimistic and everyone having hope so they can move on with their lives and keep el “alive “ like that basically, meaning she might just be dead we won’t know 🥹

Jessica

When purple rain started to play 🤌🏼

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

Same! I think I'll stop at s5ep4 because Wills sorcerer scene is probs my fav in the whole show! I'm devastated El didn't get her happy ending too. Even being alive but all alone is awful 😔

Elle Andrus

Love you guys so much. This was SO fun.

Elle Andrus

Same. Legit me: 🧎‍♀️

Elle Andrus

In this together for real❤️🙏🏼

Elle Andrus

Love you shawty!!! I’m like holyyyy she looks good let’s allow her to be 23😭🙏🏼

Elle Andrus

HAHAHAH I’ve been calling him this since we started the show!!! I love this

Elle Andrus

Same I loved it. I’m satisfied.

Dana

i didn’t hate it, but this isn’t my favorite season by any means. out of 5 seasons though i’m not letting this ONE pull all the others that have been mostly amazing down. purple rain ruined me. as soon as that first guitar note started i knew i would cry. also, i’m glad at least someone died and it just so happened to be the one who was supposed to die in season 1 initially. sad for hop and mikey though. there are a lot of things that could be picked over and bashed in this season at this point but overall this show still changed pop culture and brought some serious joy and nostalgia. love these characters and the show thoroughly.

Elle Andrus

Guys!! So fun to watch with you all. Patreon was my favorite form of social media since this started. I’m so happy all of us have this community to share all of our opinions and predictions!! Thanks for being so kind to me chat💖😭🙏🏼

Daniella

I hope you'll be back for more reactions gonna miss you girl 🥹❤️

ninie

Yeah I can’t rewatch

DonDuh103

Much better ending then GOT! Also i know they showed us El but i think mike is just coping! El could have just no diff the soldiers? Lowkey could set up for a sequel but would have to be a tight story?

ninie

Right like can’t a girl let a little lip filler

Dana

yeah i mean mike didn’t even see how badly kali was injured. there was no way girl had energy to sit up against a wall and cast a last spell all the way at the front of the gate and project an el image. she couldn’t even move on the floor after she was shot. she died way before they even got out. so that pretty much sealed it. not to mention during the mike/el scene el told mike to help the others understand/cope. .he's the storyteller, she knew he’d be able to do it. but if people choose to believe then they did as the party did. so it IS an open ended ending….but not really. all the numbers died in my view.

🖤

Real like I’ll watch people’s reactions but as far as me watching it on my own, I’m not I can’t go to that heartbreak again😭

Major

Only prince song was out of place. Didn’t enjoy that part even though I love the song.

Jude’s IFs

Mike didn’t say it back because the point in the montage was her answer to him saying he loved her that’s what it was chosen with the other images. Yes Mike wasn’t the best boyfriend but he was also very young. In season 5 he’s been there for her, trusted her, believed in her and has kept her memory alive. He’s grown in

Jdub the great

I believe yeah since the base was in the upside down

🖤

I had a feeling that was true but I still believe 😭

Jessica

Yup I honestly like that she died more than her possibly being alive

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

When a major issue in their relationship has been his inability to say those words and how much it affected her negatively when he didn't, it feels incredibly weird to have their last scene be him not saying it back to her. You can try to rationalise it like that but it's still an odd writing choice in my opinion. It takes away from his character progression

Jessica

That’s just Finn being awkward 😂

Jessica

Why do you always cut the outro man 😭 they cut the normal intro and had all the actors name in the outro it was so good

Booger

I knew Kali wasn’t a traitor 🙌

Peaches

I also choose to believe el is living a peaceful life am just extremely sad she didn’t get her happy ending with Mike and Hop. It’s been a ride and sad to see an end of an era but I’m satisfied with how they wrapped it up. No loose ends with the characters, each of them fulfilled their arch’s and looking for a new beginning. It’s been a pleasure watching with you all hope to return back to your Patreon when there are more range in movies and shows. Hope you all will be open to trying a variety of shows and movies 2026 to bring more audience. I enjoy you fellas so I would love to return and watch other shows with you all that interest me. Happy new year Gek.

Peaches

Maybe he was scared of the fillers!!!

TheSauceGuy

It certainly could've been better, but it certainly could've been worse too. At least it was emotional, and Ted didn't rot in the hospital lmao.

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

I agree, I would prefer for her to be dead 😔 I like the storytelling quality to Mike in the epilogue but they should have made it clearer that it's just his imagination. It ties in nicely with DnD and the fantasy aspect of the show I think. The thought of El just living alone while everyone else moves on is so sad!

FrankS

Hopper and Joyce in Montauk is definitely the spinoff

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

Do you mean Purple rain? The ep has two Prince songs but I agree the timing of Purple Rain was awkward and could've been used better

Jessica

I actually really liked the timing of purple rain like the meaning of the song makes sense for her decision & their relationship 🥹

Jessica

For sure! Just that end scene was really good, but like you said should have been more clear because when they showed us eleven it also threw me off a bit… but they also did the Jonathan/nancy break up not so obvious so a lot of inconsistency throughout this whole season 🥲

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

I think the ending was well done even though I find it a bit ridiculous how only 1 person is dead maybe. Karen and Ted being alive and well is a bit too happy ending for me. And this season was such a disappointment because I had such high expectations of the overall quality and the acting. I thought they would be surely cutting away most of the unnecessary and awkward dialogue but they only increased it. I feel a bit empty though when this all ended. And Finn was the Sun in this last episode.

Dana

“this isn’t like one of your campaigns, you don’t get to write the ending” … but he ended it as if it was one. i think it was pretty clear, but everyone interprets things and processes differently. i’m sure people missed certain details too but if they go back will catch more. a lot was happening.

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

Maybe I'm delusional but I think Elle meant to send that heart for me. But Happy New Year to everyone that has been good this year.

Elias

Guys, Eleven is dead. The story was just for Mike to cope with her death. It's IMPOSSIBLE for Kali to create an illusion when the bomb went off in the same building as her. We could clearly see that it took some time before Eleven got swept up.

Elias

The ONLY way I can see her surviving is if the cosmic horror from the Abyss somehow managed to sweep her up to his realm, the Abyss, before she would get caught up in the debris. Otherwise, she's as dead as dead can be. And I loved this finale, but the first part did feel rushed, and I blame it on Netflix and their disgusting industry standard of having 8 episodes per season. It's completely ruined proper storytelling.

Elias

"Stranger Things" was always a coming-of-age story with supernatural and sci-fi elements blended in.

Elias

They drove it in on a truck. Come on, be a little creative in your thinking.

Elias

Mike was telling a story, that was all.

Dana

“this isn’t like one of your campaigns. you don’t get to write the ending”…..essentially that’s exactly what he did so they could move on and cope better. the storyteller.

Klo123

This hits so hard 😭

Tyler

Elle getting giddy over Joyce and hoppers height difference love that, now think about what we could have had with Will and Mike height difference we were robbed

Crogadile

maybe unpopular opinion but I didn't find that last episode very compelling. Unfortunate, good show though.

Seth Aasland

Haven’t watched this episode yet, but I will be watching this in theaters. Regardless of how I feel about the season, I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how this ends in a more cinematic way

riahhh.

when are we gonna get a K-pop reaction and if y’all do it can y’all do a Blackpink live performance

Breds5

good point but also how did she use her powers to talk to mike right in front of the dampeners? kind of a plot hole on the show's part.

🖤

💯 agree with you!!

Tyler

If you guys ever do decide to react to Heated Rivalry Elle needs to be on the couch!

SirCatelot

I mean they werent facing her

GreetswithJudgement

Only two scenes really stood out to me and the first is when Henry entered the cave and Will tried to get him to join them but Vecna had already made his choice. I love that he was like fuck it, I chose to do this. Great acting by the way and of course Henry has been my favorite part about the show since he’s been introduced. Hate that his death happened the way it did. But whatever. And the second scene is when Dominic Toretto appeared in the end and gave a speech about family. Also I won’t beat a dead horse as the flaws have already been mentioned so I’ll say something positive. These reactions would not have been as fun to me if Elle and Caden weren’t on the couch!

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

You're totally right about the meaning of the song and I'm probably just being picky, it was just a tad cheesy in my opinion hahahh

Vinny Deluca

I felt the opposite, I think overall in a rather un compelling season this ep was exactly what it needed to be

Carter D. Andrus

My thing with this ending is, anyone could’ve wrote it. It is not an ending that requires any level of skill. It was “satisfying” and I did feel satisfied in its most basic form because we got big monster battle classic character victories and cliche bare bones predictable endings for the characters. Nothing special or remotely nuanced. Then if you dig deep into the questions others have left in these comments about the smaller details, like the military involvement, side characters that showed up and actually had parts to play in the final battle like Murray and Mr Clarke, you see that it’s all style over substance. Unfortunate. Season 1 I think will stand the test of time tho and maybe a hot take, but stranger things SHOULD have been a one season wonder

amina

the craziest thing in my humble and non-violent opinion is that we didn’t see Dr. Kay dying in the most painful and gruesome way possible, with everything she did to those pregnant women I straight up needed to see her head get torn away, preferably by Vecna for not even seeing him as a threat while she was pursuing her crazy experiments, at least I needed a confirmation that she and the whole military involved are under some intense tribunal or something

shelby

I’m sad there’s no more Elle on the couch for awhile 🫩

Jenny D

I am glad that Nancy didn't end up with either Steve or Jonathan. I think she definitely loved both, but they were all moving in different directions. For a hot second I did wonder if El somehow made it, but I think she really is dead. It did happen oddly though. If the machines were on she shouldn't have been moving and it is hard to believe they didn't notice her leaving

Elias

It would be awesome if you guys would consider reacting to "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."! It's a fantastic show, and you won't be disappointed in it, unlike other shows.

Tyler

Absolutely agree they caught lightning in a bottle with that first season they had a cool idea and it worked but then the show got to big for its own good and they didn’t know what to do with it, I don’t think anyone’s expectations were subverted I mean you guys were literally calling out the plot almost word for word before it happened

Kuro

SHE HAS TOO I AGREE

SavDog23

Vecna the Inter-Dimensional Super-Being who has the Mind Flayer with him gets low-diffed by some untrained high-schoolers in under 10 minutes 😭

Yara

i think the henry/joyce scene with everyone remembering the trauma that scarred them forever with each swing of the axe was so visceral, you can feel the hurt, the anger and the resentment each character has reminiscing while vecna was dying. I myself felt it was a little gruesome for my taste especially after seeing how Henry also was like Will a victim but putting myself in the shoes of the characters I am very happy they made it like this because it is consistent with what they lived through and who they became after all this trauma, they're not kids anymore and joyce was powerless the whole time her son was suffering, they all witnessed death and so much loss. i wonder what they felt in that moment seeing his head fall off, was it cathartic or did they feel nothing, weirdly this scene in the finale probably saved the season for me

alexis ♡︎

ELLE PLS JOIN THE TWILIGHT REACTIONS PLEASEEE

Carter D. Andrus

I simultaneously agree and disagree with you because while I don’t think Season 1 was a super intricately written plot, I think it is obvious that the show devolved from what it started out as, even if that starting point wasn’t incredibly high. Watching scenes from season 1 and the newer seasons feels like whiplash

DonDuh103

Should definitely bring Elle and Kayden back for another series or movie

jed d'angelo

Yall I just remembered that Hopper is supposed to be dead based on the ending of season 3 but now hes just chief of police again… I mean like cmon wtf is that lmao.

Yara

they never said what that guy in the cave meant by "they sent you" like who's they? are we gonna get a spinoff or something to explain it? i saw the broadway play and it dives into henry's backstory in highschool but i still have some questions on the origin of the mind flayer and everything

Caroline

I liked it. I feel like they did rush the finale battle but i think they ended it in a good way. I also wanted Mike and El to finally be happy together so i like to believe that Mike does find her in the end. I think i cried most when El talked to Mike and at the end of the episode with the game. I am mostly just sad its over. Also i think everyone did a good job with the acting. I think they did the best they could with what they got. Do i wish it was better? Sure but i dont get the hate they are getting for some of the acting. I think the Mike and El scene was done beautifully and the flashbacks showed how much they loved each other since day 1! I never needed them to be constantly intimate all the time for me to see that they loved each other. Not everyone is like that! I dont think any show i have ever watched has been able to end it in a completely satisfying way but people who compare this to GOT have lost their damn minds. Like be so for real. El actually deserved to have a happy ending, cant say the same for the other show. Anyways, thanks guys for reacting to this! Its been so much fun! and congrats on the baby! ☺️❤️

Caroline

Yes! I love this show!

Elle Andrus

Completely agree about the cave scene. Like the couch said, he stuck to his guns and I loved that.

Elle Andrus

WE LOVE AGENTS OF SHIELD

Elle Andrus

I loveee twilight. It’s what started my problem with not wanting to finish series because I was so sad when it ended LOL

Sam

Correct take.

Katydid22

Mike and Eleven deserved better 😭😭

GooberM

when they drove out of the portal, what did they think was gonna happen? they were just gonna drive back through the military checkpoint no problem?

Tyler

The color grading the dark gritty style of story telling it gave off more true detective/Ozark vibes and seemed like it was gonna be this really grounded character driven show then it slowly morphed into this mcu level space kaiju battle. The best scene in the finale was the core party sitting down playing dnd and having this human moment with one another and that’s what the show lost along the way

NMP

Elle it was 35 degrees here in st Pete the other day. I’m in the upside down for sure

Tyler

I have the same problem I have 3 book series on my nightstand I’m 95% complete but avoid finishing cause I don’t want to leave those worlds and characters behind

Tyler

Not to mention they murdered how many soilders and dr k just lets them go?

NMP

It’s about as good as a finale as I could’ve expected for this season and how mid it’s been in of itself but I still really dislike the how the show ended up going out as a whole. If that makes sense

Jamie

Well the military was doing some unethical experiments. Just like Brenner I’m sure she didn’t want the world to know 🤷🏻‍♀️

No Tap

Holy mid

NMP

This was about as good a finale as I could’ve expected for how this individual season was going but I’m still not a fan of the way the show ended up going out as a whole. I ultimately just feel annoyed and like my time was wasted. By season 3 I started becoming disinterested and turned into one of those “Season 1 will never be topped, it should have been standalone” people. After 3 years of not caring I tuned into Season 4 out of spite and was surprised that it ended up being my favorite since Season 1. They got me invested again and then made me wait another 3 years just for the most mid season of the entire series. So now after a decade of back and forth and on and off investment I’m right back where I started- season 1 will never be topped and was always the peak of the show. Just frustrating.

Kim 555

The joke was me not mentioning what the show really is 💀

Kim 555

I know I’m just playing 💀

Natacha

And people tend to feel personally attacked when they don’t agree with your take

GooberM

i also wish we couldve gotten a bit more of, what happened with the military after the gate closed, did they just let them leave? also not 1 person mentioned the hero police chief that supposedly died in the mall fire several years ago just being back alive and even got his job back

Kim 555

I’m still sick to my stomach about it. They didn’t need to show Will being so hopeful about his feelings towards Mike, then have Robin give a speech about signs and a snowball turning into an avalanche WHICH NEVER HAPPENED. They ignored the painting, they ignored the veiled confession, and they ignored that Will’s birthday was on the camera in 4x2 and pretend like the characters didn’t forget his birthday. I’m actually so sick of how badly they messed up small details. Like Max thought Hopper was dead then she woke up and saw him and didn’t even flinch. El saw Max dying and when she came back they didn’t even hug. I’m SIIICK

Kim 555

Trust me type Stranger Things 5 plot holes on tiktok and the people will be generous 😭. They literally changed so many things to fit the ending. They also ignored so many details that people made a theory that Vecna erased the characters’ memories and thought there were so many scenes cut. Such a bleak way to end things

Poragami

Well, pretty interesting finale episode. Is there any show now replacing Stranger Things in a way or not?

Brett

The only time Murray had a non fake sentence was with Alexi which was such a good duo

Elio

Congrats Carter♥️

Tivy

Random comparison, but people who wholeheartedly agreed with El’s sacrifice and don’t see any issues with it probably also fully supported Zeke’s euthanization plan lmao (explanation in replies)

Nonos

It’s sad her friends had to watch but EL probably stood at the entrance of the gate so the military could also see that she was staying to die in the upside down and make sure they don’t track her down anymore which in turn gets the military off of her friends. At least that’s what makes sense to me.

Chosos Wife

I mean i guess but she could have just made them see her and then moved further in. The whole thing was being blown up so she wouldn't have survived anyway

Blake

Hopper killing dozens of soldiers this season and the military just lets him go lmao

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

There is so many things wrong with this season. I didn't even realize that one

Tivy

With Kali’s suggestion, the idea is that their blood will keep being used to create more psychic kids, and that the cycle will never truly end unless they sacrifice themselves. That’s the same underlying logic as Zeke arguing that war and oppression against Eldians would only stop if they gradually died off. In both cases, the “solution” is eliminating the people being exploited rather than dismantling the system exploiting them. I’m not saying people can’t disagree on what’s right or wrong here, it’s just an observation about the reasoning being used.

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

The acting bit is very valid. I found only Finn, Gaten, Jamie, Sadie and Joe to seem like they even improved or just stayed true to their acting from previous seasons. Maybe I missed someone but really most of the cast were not as convincing at all.

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

I don't understand the part where she struggles against Vecna? Why would she not struggle? How would you assume she is stronger than Vecna?

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

Not Netflix fucking up its biggest hits like Anne With an E and Umbrella Academy. Well Anne was great while it lasted

Tivy

I FULLY AGREE

cozo

idk how people are hating, this ending is peak

jrnoodles

Thanks Geks+! Sweet ending. Elle COOKED a full course meal at the end. Also Elle saying she doesn't finish books is so relatable.

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

Oh right. Didn't think about that. I guess I was too annoyed by this ending😌

Tivy

LMAOOO no problem, I fully agree. This whole season has been such a let down 😭

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

i agree that the ending was p feel good but still very loose ended - like personally i dont hate it and yet at the same time there were several seasons that felt like they had better series endings then this one imo? obviously people have had complaints about the overly bloated cast for awhile now but i also find it particularly frustrating when they threw so many extra characters in and involved them in the endgame just to have them disappear without further involvement in the actual ending or other characters stories...kinda just feels like a lot of padded time atp, especially considering all the unaddressed questions regarding things like the stone and everything also i do find kalis story actually really sad though - i feel like some of hops speech really struck a nerve with her because of how just how much applied to her as well. at the end of the day she was just another used and abused kid, and i also really didnt care for how they did her debut episode or handled her storyline, but it sucks that it feels like she never really caught a break... :/ girl grew up as another test subject, got out, lived on the run with her little revenge squad, watched all her friends die just to be captured and treated like a living blood bag for what like? another year or so?? then even right before her death was to just about to be abandoned, then caught, then free, then caught again, beaten on the ground, and then shot...like jeez

cozo

carter always cooking the best takes

Elle Andrus

I LOVE ST PETE!! I’m visiting the end of the month. You’re in the UPSIDE DOWNNNN

Major

Things I don’t like: 1) Erica was barely in the last episode. 2) No Vickie and Murry in epilogue. 3) Not enough deaths 4) where is Max’s mom? 5) way too many flashbacks. 6) where are the demogordons?

cozo

it's just open ended what happened tbh, over 18 months a lot could've changed

Laura

Lol even when el was going to die mike didnt say i love u back 🤣 bruh never let the duffer brothers write anything else pls for the love of god

josie

I loved watching your guys entire journey watching stranger things. Season 5 was definitely not my favorite. There's things I liked and things I disliked. Similar to season 3. 1, 2, and 4 are the only ones I love from start to finish. But I honestly feel like everybody (including me) had too high of expectations after season 4. I've said this to people repeatedly that I believe they peaked with season 4. The story, the introduction to Vecna, the plot-twist with 001/Henry, and struck gold with 'Running Up That Hill'. It was just going to be extremely hard to top it. Even watching the final battle in 4x09, like how do you even top that? No matter what you do, everybody is going to compare it and it will just never reach those heights. They still could have done better IMO with this season, but it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. The majority of TV show series finales I've watched are always pretty disappointing and a letdown, but I did genuinely enjoy this one even with having a few issues.

josie

Also Elle I'm so glad to see you still cooking with the theories. It'll just to piss off the YouTube commenters. <3

sofi ✿

I’m happy for the people who liked the ending, but for me it was just very disappointing :( Stranger Things is a pretty clear example of how hype doesn’t replace good writing. Season 5 feels incredibly bloated and packed with spectacle that tries to hide a lack of narrative commitment. A lot is happening on screen, but very little is actually changing. The show bends its own rules whenever it’s convenient (like Will only feeling Vecna's pain when the plot needs it, or the sudden absence of demodogs and demobats), storylines get wrapped up through coincidence instead of consequences, and any real tension disappears because nothing is ever allowed to truly cost something. Not to mention the long list of plot holes and open threads they never really address (Why was the Upside Down frozen on the day Will was kidnapped? Why is his birthday the same day as Henry’s, and why did he choose Will specifically? Why do they ignore the past two seasons’ plot of Mike not being able to say he loves El, only for him to still not say it before she dies? Why is Max graduating with the rest of the party when she was in a coma for almost two years? Did they just explode all the pregnant women that were never addressed again? Or even the fact that Mike still has the painting hanging, thinking El was the one who commissioned it… I could go on for a while). What makes this extra frustrating is that the show knows what its core theme is… or at least, it used to. In Season 4, Eddie literally says that conformity is what kills the kids. Dustin repeats this idea in his graduation speech, framed as a message about staying weird, staying true to yourself, and not shrinking to fit in. But this finale (and most of the season) does the exact opposite. It resolves everything through normalization. Most of the characters end up flattened into safe, audience-friendly versions of themselves. Mike, who used to be the emotional core of the group, becomes passive and sidelined, to the point where he basically turns into his dad (even down to the hair, clothes, and glasses). Eleven is reduced to a symbol instead of a person, which is frustrating after earlier seasons worked so hard to show her as a traumatized girl, not just a weapon. Will is the biggest case of punitive storytelling: his suffering is used to advance plot but the trauma is rarely acknowledged, and his entire arc gets reduced to his sexuality. Lucas never really gets a full arc outside of Max. Joyce, who once drove entire storylines, is reduced to an NPC, and the list goes on. The point is: difference gets contained and growth gets replaced with settling. This contradiction defines the entire final season. Vecna, who’s been built up as the ultimate threat, is defeated super easily (easier than threats from earlier seasons). There’s no real sense of strategy or sacrifice; things just work out because the script demands resolution. Years of buildup lead to a rushed, hollow climax that mistakes scale for meaning. And that isn’t accidental. It’s what happens when a show that once celebrated difference becomes afraid of committing to it. Seasons 1 and 2 (and some parts of 4) were such a treat! Sci-fi stories grounded in real emotion. Stranger Things started as a story about outsiders: kids whose differences were dangerous, powerful, and necessary. By the end, it trades that idea for comfort, safety, and marketability. It chooses spectacle over storytelling and safe choices over sincere ones (Marvel doing irreparable damage to the industry). And in doing that, it doesn’t just weaken individual character arcs... it betrays what the show was originally about. This was one of the safest, most predictable finales I’ve seen in a long time. And in choosing the safest possible ending, it leaves behind the very outsiders it once claimed to empower. (And the final cut being Heroes by Bowie playing during the credits 🥲). Eddie was right. Conformity was killing the kids. And in the end, it killed the show itself :(

Itami

I think the epilogue was good and that's about it, I kept waiting for something interesting to happen, I used to love this show, but this season was awful. They really played it safe and I personally hate that.

Seth Aasland

Just got back from the theater. Uhhhhhhhh how tf did no one die aside from Kali? They were way too generous with this ending. I guess my critique in this respect isn’t so much that there weren’t as many deaths as I was expecting, but more so that a lot of the elements in this shows (Vecna, Mind Flayer, Demogorgans, Upside Down, Abyss, etc) all felt so inconsequential. Massive stakes and a super-massive monster… and no deaths? Except for Kali and potentially El but eh. Idk if I can believe she survived, I feel like it’s an open-ended conclusion. Mike is so much better than me because idk if I could be that level of… I don’t want to say “delusional” but… that’s what it feels like. I had a good time, but it definitely doesn’t feel like the best ending they could’ve come up with. On a more positive note: Joyce hacking away at Vecna’s head was my favorite part of this finale. I think it’s fitting she was the one who delivered his end. My final rankings of the seasons upon rewatching them and seeing how differently I feel about them: 1st place: Season 1 2nd place: Season 2 3rd place: Season 4 4th place: Season 3 5th place: Season 5 My favorite season used to be season 3, mainly because of how fondly I remember having such a blast watching it with my friends while pulling an all nighter. But upon rewatch, I realize I prized season 3 mostly because of nostalgia and the aesthetics of it. When I really dig into it, it doesn’t hold up as much as it used to. Season 1 in retrospect is my fave. I loved the mystery, and I also felt that the acting was at its best that season IMO. Season 5… really let me down. I thought it had a good start, but as it progressed certain things felt very repetitive and, again, inconsequential. The humor was my least favorite in this season. The acting as well. Didn’t have as much of a strong finish as I had hoped. But overall I love this show so much. Been watching it since day 1 when it first came out in 2016, the summer before sophomore year of HS. Now I’m 24, and it’s hard to believe it’s over now.

Max Hinton

an actress not finishing their material they are getting millions to portray. Call me crazy but thats just being terrible at your job

Luke Fox

4/10 being generous

Arctic_stark

I just hope that whenever they get around to the sequel/spin-off (and they 100% will, Netflix isn't going to let its biggest franchise sit on the shelf for too long) they go back to recreating the season 1 vibe and stick to it. Perhaps even tell shorter stories in an anthology-style. This series ended up way too bloated, and by the end we are just jumping from one plot point to another.

Luke Fox

At this point I'm going to stop watching all Netflix shows after season one. Like seriously, when has Netflix ever made good followup seasons for a show? It literally only happens for their korean/japanese collabs. All Netflix's US shows have never been good after season 1.

Arctic_stark

I think its disappointing that one of the core themes of this show was about Eleven overcoming the trauma of her upbringing and finding happiness with her chosen family in Hawkins. Eleven's journey to the upside down, to her biological mom, to Chicago, to California etc. all point her to the idea that she doesn't have to run away, she isn't a monster, and that she deserves happiness with the people she loves in Hawkins. And the finale throws that out of the window and Eleven is either dead or has to go off and live a solitary life. One of the best things Stranger things had going for it was that it was super-rewatchable. I'm not sure if thats the case anymore, I dont know if I can now go back to seasons 1 and 2 and watch Eleven finding joy with Mike and Hopper and the whole gang, knowing how it ends.

Jude’s IFs

I agree its an odd writing choice but ultimately you can see how much he loves her with everything he does in the epilogue

lol

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

Yes, I also have this thought! That kiss was BAD 🙈 and don’t said back “I love you?” Yikes.

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

5:40 — “Mike is the character to me who always deserves better” — After the finale, these words multiplied in meaning. Mike Wheeler, I’m so sorry you were written so poorly 😭 He eventually turned into his dad — the very person he hated himself!

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

15:03 — “They’re gonna have a crazy conversation right now” — Yep. So crazy that half of the fandom can’t believe this is really all we got from Mike and Will’s storyline. And no, they didn’t look like best friends by the end. That feeling vanished again (it came back in volume 1), but the Duffer brothers screwed it up one more time 😩 16:23 — “They’re gonna have, like, an extra moment, right?” — Thanks, Cannon! I was convinced we’d get at least one one-on-one scene between them in the epilogue, but nope. “Friend?! No, thanks. Best friend!” — that one line left me physiological trauma for the rest of my life!

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

On Steve’s falling scene, I was also gagged and kept praying, but I had no idea it would be Jonathan who saved him. But now it makes sense why the Duffers dropped Steve’s Funko Pop figures on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon! They were teasing us! I was also shocked at 37:53, when Hopper shot El, but I kept manifesting “it’s just Vecna’s vision” for about a minute — and I was so relieved when I turned out to be right!

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

I cried a couple of times throughout this episode, and the first time was during Hopper and El’s conversation at 41:58 (the second was again because of them at 58:20). Their storyline somehow always hits me the hardest emotionally. I remember how hard I was sobbing at the finale of season 3 when El read Hopper’s letter after his “death.” It was heartbreaking — just like this conversation. And she still died after that…. 54:05 — “She did not need to do that” — Yes, she did, Cannon! Even earlier! It was her biggest mistake — not killing Doctor Kay and that soldier when she had the chance!

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

1:10:08 — “Where’s Will? We need Will.” — The Duffer brothers seemed to have the opposite opinion, Carter! They made him a main character again in Volume 1 and then changed their minds and gave him so little to do in the final battle. That’s beyond absurd, if we’re being honest! Why wouldn’t he be affected by Vecna’s death? I love Will so much and don’t want him dead, but it makes no sense that he was completely fine after the Mind Flayer and Vecna were defeated! 1:11:09 — “So he’s not feeling the pain right now?” — You’re asking the right question, Elle!

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

“You fucked with the wrong family.” — Must admit, I love this line. That was badass! 1:16:37 — “We’re winning him with love. Tough love.” — that cracked me up hahaha El’s reaction at 1:21:15 was so me when I realized what they were doing with her 😭😭😭

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

1:22:27 — “This is ridiculous.” — You know what’s truly ridiculous, Cannon? Not El’s choice to sacrifice herself, but the fact that Mike didn’t say “I love you” back to her! I was a Byler fan, but THAT was crazy work! Mike’s mage story at the end is definitely made up. He just wants to believe it. El definitely died there. No one can convince me otherwise.

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

2:12:12 — “They want to please all parts of the fandom” — They pleased no one with this El-is-dead-or-alive ambiguity, so they failed. It was a bad choice.
And as Cannon said, “It satisfied neither” — yes, exactly! It’s a weird middle ground or simply a cowardly decision. “For the writers saying ‘everything is tied up’ — I don’t think so. Ten years for what, bro?” — yes, unfortunately, they couldn’t do it. They either underestimated the audience or overestimated themselves 🤷🏻‍♀️ They left so many plot holes that it’s embarrassing! So my overall feeling: I’m 60% satisfied with the ending (mostly thanks to Steve and Dustin; Lucas/Max and Hopper/Joyce’s happy love story; Jamie Campbell Bower’s excellent acting as Henry; Derek as the best side character of all seasons; and, of course, the final basement D&D campaign before they all split up and the next generation of kids started playing there) and 40% disappointed with it (Mike, Will, and El — they made their love triangle so dirty). It was a good finale, but not extraordinary — not something mind-blowing or something that made television history. The fan theories was WAY better what the Duffer’s outcome, unfortunately!

sofi ✿

obsessed with this big brain comparison! it’s such a good example of how strong storytelling actually engages with moral ambiguity instead of flattening it. with stranger things, it feels like everything gets pre-chewed for the general audience, so the ethical problems of el’s ‘sacrifice’ aren’t really interrogated, they’re just presented as noble or inevitable. which is wild, considering how similar the underlying logic actually is... this take is kind of perfect <3

No Tap

Stranger Things confirming itself as a kids show by having no one important die in what should be the most sacrificial portion of the shows run. Incredible work by D&D, can’t wait to watch their Star Wars trilogy.

Brett

I loved how Dustin did what Eddie said he was gonna do and look Higgins in the face, flip him off and snatch the diploma. I love that

Elle Andrus

Wait I love this! I didn’t even catch that

Caroline

I feel like people are over hating the acting tho. Some hate it because they didn't get the outcome they wanted and some are just hating to hate. I also feel like it got to be to many main characters in the end and that did make some of them stand out while the others didn't. I do feel like Millie and Finn did the best acting in that last moment together! It was such a good scene and i loved it! (also hated it because my fav died..)

Caroline

How has Mike become his dad? Like be so for real. Mike actually cares about people and i thought he was amazing in season 5. I think vol 2 was not that great for every character but the last episode was good when it came to Mike! Like Mike and El's last moment was beautifully acted! Did he and some other characters deserve better? Yes, totally but he is not like his dad at all! When did Mike even say he hated his dad?

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

“The last moment was beautifully acted?!" 😳 Sorry, but in my opinion that was awful. I love Finn as an actor, but his acting in the goodbye scene — especially the kiss — felt like he was being forced to do it against his will

Seez .M

Rewatching the episode with the reaction confirms two things to me. One: That people had already predetermined in their minds how the show should end, that's why they didn't like it that much. Two: the ending was actually really good.

Tivy

Thank you so much! I fully agree with you!

RAE09

no it wasn't! stop LYING to yourself and eating up straight up SLOP written by two VERY EGOTISTICAL and stupid white men who RUNIED their own characters and intricate plotlines for funsies! mind you holly and max's monologue in the vecna's mindscape right before escaping was LONGER THAN THE FINAL BOSS BATTLE THE SHOW HAD BEEN BULIDING UPTO FOR 9 YEARS!!!!!! like holy shit- that's just HORRIBLE WRITING!!! btw we STILL don't know WHY will was taken on nov 6th! WHY JUST HIM and no other kid? WHY did vecna specifically pursue will for a whole fcking WEEK? if he was just a random vessel, why couldn't he have just kidnapped another kid? clearly will was CHOSEN for a very specific reason! also the upside down literally being STUCK IN TIME ON THE DAY WILL BYERS WAS KIDNAPPED? the fact that they NEVER ADDRESS IT AGAIN? also, do you know that henry creel and will byers canonically HAVE THE SAME BIRTHDAY? did you know that?????? what are the chances that the two MSOT POWERFULL VESSELS of the mindflayer were born on the same fcking day?? answer IT'S NOT A COINCIDENCE LMAO! will's birthday is march 22nd and he was ALWAYS meant to mirror henry creel, so much so that the duffers (along with other amazing writers who are ACTUALLY GOOD and much better writers than they are lol) made a whole play (the first shadow) that is completely canon to the stranger things universe that goes into henry's backstory and HOW his blood became infected and how he got his powers and hoe he was abused by dr brenner etc etc! and guess what? the duffers are SO lazy, they couldn't be assed to introduce ANY of those extremely interesting plot points ever again! the play makes it VERY clear how interesting the whole will/henry tether would've been btw but the show barely spends 10 minutes on their plotline smh and i haven't even STARTED getting into the hundreds of plotholes just in the finale alone!

Luke Fox

Its pretty sad to see the interview with the Duffer bros after this where the interviewers ask a lot of good questions the audience had and they just go "I don't know" or "We didn't think about it that much" Like seriously! We had audience members putting hours into great theories for why stuff happened and then the Duffer's just go "lol we just chose 12 kids randomly and becuase its like a clock." WTF ? How could they not bother to even put 2 seconds of thought into things audiences spent hours theorizing? The epilogue was too long but mostly pretty good. They played the ending way too safe and tried to please everyone. Why is the entire cast not in jail after murdering dozens of US militiary...ehh turns out the duffer borthers didn't even think about that based on their interview answer. Everything before the epilogue like rambo nancy and the marvel Kaiju fight was trash, Vecna just kinda forgot about the demogorgans, and we spent more time on Will coming out than the final boss battle. The Q&A with the Duffer Bros actually make so many things worse.

Luke Fox

Well you see Vecna just kinda forgot about the demogorgans

DonDuh103

ya like i understand it can be hard and stressful ending a good show but if i couldnt come up with something really good id just pay one of theses crazy youtubers that have insanely good theorys or fan endings and just add them on as season 5 writer.

Frosty

HAHAHA canon really said "its unfair to me!" 😭 too real

Frosty

"what happened to robin and vicky?" brooo lmao show has enough real problems we dont need to reach

Elias

Elle, so you've watched Agents of SHIELD? Damn, was hoping to get a reaction of this series if you ever decided on doing it.

Major

Season 4 says hello

Major

“ I choose to believe” had me in tears. Mike chooses to be positive about El just so he can move on with his life. 😫😭

jrnoodles

You do know I'm talking about our Gek girl Elle Andrus right?

GreetswithJudgement

How did I not notice the military men behind Hopper once El is gone acting all sad and shit like they weren’t just about to replicate her powers and then kill her ass. 😂

hayden 💟

mike screaming out els name makes me laugh so hard every time oh my god what was that😭😭😭😭😭😭I was crying until I saw that LMFAOO and dude still couldn’t say I love u back as she’s about to die 😭😭😭😭💔💔gtfo mike

RAE09

true even noah looked more heartbroken and distraught over losing her (his acting has been insane this entire season) which is the only time i felt sadness over el dying because finn's acting was just SO BAD and for some reason they decided to make her death ALL ABOUT HIM!!!! not her dad, or her best friend or her brother who ALL understood her more than mike btw (millie's own words) just horrible writing from two misogynistic (and terribly homophobic in how they wrote will's arc) white men this is even funnier to see because during the season 5 press tour millie literally wished multiple time that noah had played mike (or that eleven had fallen in love with will instead) because of how non existent her chemistry with finn is

RAE09

them sidelining will in the FINAL episode of the show after the entire stranger things fanbase, from diehard fans to general audiences, fell in love with him at the end of sorcerer and were on a sugar high and wanted SO MUCH MORE from him plotwise was the downfall of the show! literally gave us one of the BEST MOMENTS in the entire show's run (up there with max's sequence from dear billy, joyce's scene with the lights on the wall, will's possession stuff from s2, eddie's rock solo in the upside down etc) SO MUCH POTENTIAL just wasted...??? for what? on the frankly very useless plotline of holly and the kids. Like don't get me wrong, nell fisher killed it as holly but using the last season and last hours of precious screentime on a character no one cares about? while taking away focus form eleven and WILL? just imagine how much more narratively and thematically rich the story would've been if they focused more on the question "WHY WILL?" WHY was HE taken? and only him on nov 6th? And if will was just another random vessel WHY did vecna pursue him for 6 WHOLE DAYS? when he could’ve easily just kidnapped another kid from Hawkins instead to use as a vessel? Like the duffers retconning and watering down their own story for no reason? Clearly they set it up narratively in a way that makes will seem VERY SPECIAL AND CAREFULLY CHOSEN! Also the upside down being frozen on Nov 6th? Like are you kidding me? they literally NEVER ANSWERED WHY! SO MUCH POTENTIAL THERE FOR INTERESTING LORE! henry and will literally mirror each other as characters, both shy, sensitive, artistic kids who have suffered childhood abuse, both of whom were specifically singled out and chosen by the mindflayer as vessels, born on the SAME DAY, like just endless potential!!! could've explored why henry was never able to break free from the mindflayer and lost himself to it because he never had the support system and love that will had from his friends and family and ultimately succumbed to fear, whereas will breaking free from the mindflayer and hive mind through love (the classic "can love defeat fear" that AGAIN was teased by the very canon play "the first shadow" that the show NEVER REFERENCES OR USES) i can't believe that the final battle just devolved into a big marvel-esque cgi slop battle! no final confrontation and psychological battle between will and henry, nothing more deep for el, just cheap cgi battle, the big bad monster being defeated under 10 ministers 😭💀with guns and fire🫩NOTHING INTERESTING! Nothing subversive of expectations just empty soulless passive popcorn theatrics without deeper meaning:( The duffers saying they did not play it safe and took risks?!?! WHERE?

hayden 💟

it’s actually insane how much they don’t have chemistry 😭 when he’s in the void with her at the end he’s not even holding on to her properly his hand is straight out on her arms u can’t make this stuff up 😭😭😭 and finn is usually a good actor so hopefully that was him acting bad on purpose in spite of them ruining his character and plot

RAE09

WHAT was the point in making the first shadow? i'm genuinely lost! i mean can you IMAGINE how homophobic the duffers have to be to completely IGNORE a canon play just because that play and its characters and how they parallel the og characters would inevitably lead to byler becoming canon? they literally wrote themselves into a corner lol byler is literally SO interwoven into the lore that JUST to avoid making them canon they contradicted themselves, abandoned ANY AND ALL kinds of interesting plotlines and made the finale EXTREMELY BLAND AND PREDICTIBLE!!! will parallels henry, that is already WELL ESTABLISHED but then who is his love interest? mike! and who does mike parallel? PATTY! do you see this? there was NO WAY for the duffers to use the lore set up in the first shadow WITHOUT MAKING BYLER CANON

Elio

Gonna miss Elle so much💔♥️

Elle Andrus

I miss it already 😭🤍

Frosty

gotta make it happen with another show in the future 🙏

SerJon Bennett

Ngl. Elle calling the Kali theory is icing on the cake to her calling shit throughout this entire show. And we had the nerve to ever doubt her smh. The GOAT

Elio

I didn’t mean “eleven” 😂😭💔 I meant I will really miss YOU, my GOAT!😭🫶🏻 Getting to know you more and more throughout this journey has been so refreshing on a human level. You are so genuine, kind, thoughtful, and pure… Sometimes, there just aren’t many people like us…… people who are truly pure. Thank you, Elle. I knew no one was really gonna die. No real stakes. Disappointing 😭

Kim 555

Hey so I commented this after watching the first episode, now that I've seen the whole show I think it's so minimizing to call the show gay hockey players having sex. I'm gonna assume you didn't watch it yourself, because it's definitely not about "sex". Also, when straight romance movies have sexual scenes no one pats an eyes, but when it's gay people getting intimate it's suddenly pornography. They don't even show anything in the show. It's a story about closeted gay hockey players learning to accept and love themselves, hookup culture is a part of that shame and hiding.

Kim 555

I commented this before watching the full series, now that I'm done with it I completely disagree. It's so beautiful and it's for everybody. Idk what y'all are talking about.

rowie | hyuka bias :3

i think the ending just left way too many plot holes lol.. like im so lost on everything. there was like 0 explanation the entire time of why and what relates will to henry.. why did the upside down stop at nov 6.? why will?? we didnt even get any flashback to henry being controlled by this evil mindflayer and we wont get anything from that?? we literally find out henry is a vessle too and thats it. i mean whats the point of the 2 hr episode if the fight takes 10 mins. its just dissapointing. i think its not as terrible and evil as some say it is, just because i think my expectations were higher than they shoulve been. but it def wasnt that good either.

Caroline

You must have been watching a different show than idk.. It was a good scene and showed how much they mean to each other and that Mike was never into anybody else! I loved it! And it doesn't matter that he didn't say ilu in the moment! They dont have to say it and be intimate all the time to show how much they loved each other.

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

“They don’t have to say it and be intimate all the time” — let’s be serious, they weren’t intimate for almost two seasons, so “all the time” is like a joke 🙈 I honestly thought they broke up sometime between season 4 and 5, because writers gave us NOTHING to think otherwise. So that scene didn’t make sense to me and felt forced 🤷🏻‍♀️

Caroline

Millie said that once and is was an answer to who Noah auditioned for first, which was Mike so Millie said that if he got the part, they would be lovers. She never said it multiple times. You guys keep making up new things everyday. I have only seen Bylers comment on the supposed no chemistry thing. Im sorry you didn't get ur way but i have seen the chemistry since day one. It was always El for Mike.

Caroline

Why would they break up after Mike declared his love for her in season 4?? He even told Will why he was scared to say ilu. He was scared of loosing her and her being to good for him. No, i dont agree that every relationship in tv shows has to be intimate all the time. They gave you nothing? Mike and El are always running to each other! In season 5 they where constantly running to each other! They talked about they're future in the first episode! Its fine if you dont like them but saying that Mike has become his dad and that they never showed how much they loved each other is just making up stuff because you dont like them. Like be so for real.

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

I loved Mike and El’s relationship in seasons 1 and 2, but after that it became clear to me that Mike is a closeted gay. I still stand by that.

Caroline

I don’t get where you guys get that from. He has been obsessed with El since day 1! Why would he suddenly be gay? If so wouldn’t he have told Will that when he came out? I literally learned that byler was a thing this year and I was actually shocked. I did watch a lot of byler videos where people talk about the signes etc because I was genuinely curious as to what you guys see and yeah no I’m sorry but Mike was never into Will. It was always El for Mike. Mike was Will’s Tammy and that’s it. Mike and El are literally making out nearly the whole of season 3.. x)

Kamipo

El died , the scene at the end is copium from mike to believe she survived

RAE09

Multiple viral videos ALL over tiktok and twitter criticizing finn’s (frankly atrocious) acting and lack of chemistry with Millie during thr purple rain scene but suuuuure they’re ALL bylers 😭 ALL hundreds and thousands of them😭 or maybe you’d grow a brain and realize that they’re just fans who MIGHT have a point? Mind you even the general audience noticed the distinct lack of scenes between mike and el this season up until the LAST episode, some were even confused by the fact that they were STILL together? At least have the rationality and realization to admit that one of the things that ruined the last season and ESPECIALLY the finale of stranger things was the duffers trying to FORCE chemistry between Finn and Millie when they haven’t had natural chemistry and tension as screen partners for YEARS

Lil Mimi

I will miss my Indian Skrillex 😿

Lukash

WAKE UPPP I DONT LIKE THISSSS

Jenpi

Thank you for watching all seasons. I just finished the last season and decided to rewatch it again this with you. I still fvcking sobbed for Mike and El, they didn't get a happy ending.. Mike the heart of the group and El who saved the world, literally the characters who gave so much ... it's so sad 😭😭😭
