GreetswithJudgement

SAME! The Geks are going to love the dynamic this show brings!

Melizé

Their faces at 18:37 😭😭🥺🥺❤️❤️❤️

GreetswithJudgement

Yes. Absolutely. And it’s about the pursuit of scientific truth. The conflict? The church considers it heresy.

Brady

How was I not made more aware of this show sooner?

Melizé

I tried my best, Brady 🥺

A WRONG ANSWER IS NOT A MEANINGLESS ONE!

CINEMA.

🙌🏼 ABSOLUTE CHI-NEMA 🙌🏼

GardeninTool

Can we just appreciate, just how good Nowak's VA performed in this episode? Its not often in media I felt genuine chills from his voice when he was locking in on Rafal infront Potocki. And then Nowak himself just being absolutely shook by Rafal's inspirational actions.

Tiber Septim

the foreshadowing in this episode...

THIS SHOW IS SO PEAK

joursh

this episode is so good, the culmination of rafals character development in such a short period of time is so great. they make you care about this kid and curious on how he'll move forward, just to throw it straight out the window. its a good twist for the show and even if you see it coming, they execute it so masterfully and it feels so poetic. the whole scene is just cinema, with nowak shocked and confused at why he would throw away his life just like that, and then thinking he was getting poisoned by rafal.. just to realize that rafal never had any intention of harming him. the state of disbelief that nowak had to be in once he realized what rafal was planning had to be insane, esp since suicide is against the church doctrine. the TWELVE year old with the mind of a heretic, the twelve year old with the gall to destroy his future, the twelve year old that dared to move the earth. the shots where we see rafal and nowak at each end of the table with the moonlight shining in, as well as the OST reaching its climax.. ITS PEAK!!!

𝕯𝖎𝖆𝖓𝖆 𖤐

RAFAL my little goat 😭😭 I was so upset when I saw this episode for the first time.

Jeff

Same here🥹

Nico

With what Cannon said at the start, I wonder if you guys will enjoy Dr.Stone..

Jimmy

Man im ngl i wanted Rafal’s dad to clutch up and sacrifice himself instead and force Rafal to go on some crazy solo mission to find the answers and survive on the run 😔 His character is just too likable man

joursh

“The thing you all oppose isn’t me. Nor is it heretics. It’s part imagination and part curiosity. In short, it’s truth itself. It spreads like an epidemic. Not even the host can control it. It’s not the sort of harmless thing that can be tamed by an organization.” 🔥🔥🔥🐐🐐

𝕯𝖎𝖆𝖓𝖆 𖤐

I will never not be completely in love with that conversation in that cell. It chokes me up, it’s inspiring, his demeanor and words, this is a 12 year old.

Jeff

Getting my second watch of this while seeing your guys reactions is great. What a fun show to throw in the queue😁

Ayoodude

Dr. Stone is hit and miss In my opinion. It has some peak but it’s super sussy for no reason other than fan service obviously, and the current season was kinda eh to me.

Melizé

🔥🔥🔥

hey we've been pushing it!!

it is 100% worth watching. its about people trying to prove heliocentrism whilst the world and church opposes them

Show is underrated af since it's so unique but there was quite a lot of hype behind it like a year ago, enough for me to check it out.

AvaRISE

Truth will always prevail in the end

Mahti

If you like a deep though provoking show 100% it's amazing

James Kropiwka

I love that quote. "Your ENEMY is a RESILIENT ONE" - Rafal

Nico

@Ayoodude Yeah it is a hit or miss. Its why I said "I wonder". As someone who loves science in general, that aspect of the series was enough for me to enjoy it.

Ryan

Inspiration itself 🔥 🔥 😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩PEAK

It's giving, GoT. It gets better guys, fear not 👌🏾

Great Episode!! Also, at least as far as i'm aware, Potocki is pronounced like this: Pot + ots (like the "ots" part in the word "clots") + key :D

ORBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB

rheed_

Gonna chime in now that the first three eps are done: Orb is a show that requires a vastly different viewing lens than most anime. You derive the best experience when 1) you focus on the overarching themes of the show as well as the characterization (the thought processes of the characters and how they arrive at their beliefs) rather than plot events themselves, and 2) also just quietly, patiently absorbing the atmosphere for what it is and waiting for events to unfold (similar to something like Frieren in this respect). Mentioning philosophers doesn't equal philosophical show, but this episode references Plato's Apology, Epicurus' Principal Doctrines, and Seneca's On the Shortness of Life, with their beliefs on the right attitudes toward death being key to informing Rafal's decision. Knowing history and philosophy are absolutely not requirements to enjoy the show though, especially as Orb is not meant to be historically accurate. With that being said, Orb is philosophical in both its themes and characters, so honing on those two are especially important as I said earlier. I'd say although the animation is of course beautiful, it's really the dialogue that's the main meat of the show, so if there's one thing to focus on it's that. The score is also absolutely amazing, letting that set the mood is so vital to the most important scenes in the show. It's not necessary to agree with absolutely everything the show espouses (I personally don't), but ultimately it's one of the most unique shows in the medium and has plenty of truths to take away from it. All the philosophy enjoyers will like this one. PEAK

Allsports Athletics

That is why this anime is the best ever, if it was any other anime the main character would have lived.

よ ち

This show is a love letter to intelligence.

Ive heard about this show since it came out but didn't watch it. I watched the first 3 eps, so that I could see your reactions, and the first 2 didn't move me that much, but I started to see why people really liked it in the 3rd. I still cant see this being one those special ones for me, but I'll gladly be happily surprised if my opinions change. Although I will say I really dont like the characters designs and some of the art. Im getting flashbacks to like Tokyo Revengers.

Mahti

Took me like 12 episodes before this show finally convinced me that it deserves to be called a "masterpiece" like everyone was saying back then. It's a slow cooker

Emmanuel

Loving how frequent uploads have been so far for Orb.

Smart Guy

Same omg I'm rewatching orb with them and I noticed it. Crazy lmao

Femke

You guys should watch dr stone sometimes. It's basically the getting nuked part and having to start science all over in an anime.

MissJodles

I remember going crazy in the Discord when I first watched this episode

Ayoodude

You guys gotta watch Steal on Amazon

jrnoodles

Thank you! RIP Rafal.

Bruh I watched episodes 1 and 2 like a year ago and then didnt pick it back up unti now. Its insane that I stopped before getting to this part. This show is gonna be peak

Kim Chus

PEAK. Rip my goat Rafal

walkman

I’m watching this for the first time with y’all and I’m shook too

d4bad

23:13 Rafal finals words to Novak was 'では、また', implying they will meet again. The more accurate translation should be 'See you later'. Rafal is such a chad

uriel

Orb is so fire you need to binge these reactions!

DonDuh103

What hes dead!?! But that was a good episode!

Kim Chus

The music in the prison cell scene always hits hard😭

trinhpxl

im enjoying this series sm !! so sad rafal is gone 😭😭.. the "i will let inspiration survive, even if it costs me my own life" is sooo moving.

Nash

Man Rafal was such a goat😣😣

Daniel

If ur wondering how long it would take to reinvent a toaster after a nuke you should definitely watch Dr. Stone. It‘s basically the whole idea of the show

misa

Have yall ever been out at night after taking an edible and looked at the moon?? It's trippy af like we all know the facts that we are on a planet and the moon is also a giant mass of object circling us, but the facts alone feel sterile ... and normally, the moon feels almost 2D. But when I was high I could both know and FEEL that the moon was a giant piece of rock moving sideways just fast enough to orbit against our gravity and not crash into us. 😭 I fr felt like that SpongeBob caveman meme in that moment

misa

wish yall could binge it 😭... it's SO underrated but I'm glad that it's many people here's first watch. The gospel is spreading 😌

zoldaic

I'm caught up! Holy, what a binge. Rafallll

Hyped Toj

oh my god the arc of the character that was in the last shot...i'm just getting reminded of it all

Chrissy

This episode fucks me up 😭

Chrissy

I really think this is a powerful message for people to stand up for what is right

Pats

You guys should watch 100m. It’s by the same mangaka

Dasha

If it was real life a person in MC’s situation would have lived too lol. It’s kinda sad that people need deaths and violence to call something good. This show is good but not because they don’t hesitate to kill MC, they are just using it as a shock value sacrificing historical accuracy (not saying this show pretends to be historically accurate, my issue is people who think it is)

Dasha

His VA is legendary

James

There’s been times where I thought about not watching anime anymore, but every once in a while, an anime that is thought-provoking, unique, simple but profound, and unpredictable comes along, and Orb took me by surprise. There are issues I have with it later on, but the writing is mostly solid.

Miitei

I remember when I was watching this for the first time, my anime experience has always been "the MC never dies no matter what" I was very confident somehow Rafal will not die... To say I was in shock is an understatement, I even took a break after haha. I was already hooked, but that convince me to finish the show, I knew it was going to be unique.

arthas

I can't unsee Hans Landa in Nowak, I literally can't!

arthas

About what Cannon was saying about inventions, you guys should watch Dr. Stone. It's very different from Orb of course but it's very fun and interesting. The short premise is that characters there are doing speedrun of the whole humanity's tech evolution from literal scratch

Nami Swannn

Rafal’s speech to Novak about how inspiration is more important than one’s lifespan as it’s what survives once one’s gone and now 10 years later his work lives on. I love this show (you guys should also check out 100 meters, a movie by the same author)

B

Feel like you would all enjoy To Your Eternity

Charybdis

great anime and one of the most memorable first episodes ever. I gotta catch up.

Deji Jan

didn’t expect rafal to die so early on, something about him being so scared in his last moments was moving, no matter how smart he was he was still a kid

May Lin

Cannon, remember what you had said at the beginning of this episode, how the show presents the way science is developed and the beauty in it. Hang on to that thought as the Geks continue to progress through the show. This will be vastly different from what you are used to in other anime or even TV shows. I will hold onto my other thoughts for now to avoid spoilers but I hope all the Geks find inspiration in the show :)

Zipzzty

Nah bro i remember when it first came out everyone was so surprised and hooked after ep 1. They should definitely watch it

Zipzzty

This was the ep that made me binge it

Ninaly

WTF IM FLABBERGASTED AND HEARTBROKEN. that was my favourite mc in a while it was a beautiful episode and death but i wanna take it all back WTF

Mei Nano

This reminds me another anime🙃...I really like when unexpected things happen like this episode.... nowadays it's hard to get surprised or hooked into an anime with interesting plot.

Lemonsqueeze

Philips oneblade is the best shaver I've ever had. Needed to get used to it and now its fantastic

Vextipher

TYE is good but repetitious for what it does to almost pointless at times. Seeing how different the recent season looks tho does seem interesting.

Vextipher

I honestly half expected the direction the show went but thought it'd be more shocking/abrupt, really love how Rafal stands to what he believes.

LuvStarburst

I waited for you guys to get ahead so I could binge the series, but man, this is such a good one. Rip to Rafal.

Chosos Wife

I sobbed so hard at then cried every episode after when he would appear in the OP

na

^^

Dakota

Okay so I watched season 1 and thought it was really good, but season 2 starts so weird and I didn't car for the first couple of episodes so I never went back to watch. Does it get better again and should I go back and finish it?
