SO READY FOR THIS EPISODE

Your enemy is a resilient one. In short, it's truth itself.

Cannon Andrus

Top 5 studio Gek outro of all time

TheSauceGuy

YES (I still haven't started this yet because I've been so busy, but pretend I know what's happening in the show). Also, next Castlevania upload? I'm actually dying.

YESSS

Mr. John Kagurabachi

49 minute drop with a single 20 minute episode you already know it’s a BANGERR 🗣️💯

Vinny Deluca

Cook em Carter, any day where Mauna Kea is mentioned is a good day. Put it on top where it belongs instead of the Nepo baby Everest

Emmanuel

ITS HERE, LESSGOOOOO

2:01 cannon why are you roasting me :( I explained what I meant and it's exactly what you're saying here. I didn't mean that everything you read was wrong, just that you were originally right in some way.

McKay Carter

Experience the meaning of life in the outro

Vinny Deluca

You guys would LOVE Dr Stone I think it has pretty similar vibes to this sometimes, with the way they handle science and learning. It’s a bit lighter and more comedic in tone but they really hit the emotional beats in a similar way to Orb

William

What were they cooking in the intro

William

Dr Stone is so fire, I think it was the first anime I ever cracked and read the manga to finish the story

JevCor

49 minutes damn, they are going to school with this one.

Ninaly

I could tell this was Cannon's most excited watch bc he ults every discussion

I've tried watching Dr stone twice because I want to really like it, and the inital set of episodes are really solid (When the cast is <= 4 people). I got to the shipbuilding part for context but mid season 2 I started skipping through. From my perspective, it doesn't compare to ORB. The light hearted comedy and tropiness of characters detracts from what I love about the story instead of elevating it, like a bad B movie. The first few episodes sets up a really interesting premise of someone retracing science with modern academic knowledge and the morals behind progress and society but the comedy and light hearted nature stops the show from getting past "wow science is awesome" and in some episodes its so overplayed it drags the story to a crawl. Some of the emotional beats try to shine through (not nearly as profound as ORB to me personally) but for me the rest just wasn't worth sifting through. If I could get Dr Stone in a more serious and introspective tone & theming (and without or less "superhuman" teenagers), I think it would be a generational anime.

am i seeing the video length right...? 50 whole minutes bro

Allsports Athletics

I would really like to give my opinion of why I love this show so much like you guys did but there are so many reasons that would be spoilers so I won't. Count Piast, what a character! Only been around for 2 episodes but the author makes you feel so many different things for him! I also really love Jolenta's conversation with Oczy at the end, her way of looking at writing and reading is something I never thought before, we have everything available at us with a click of a button and we cannot see the real beauty of it! What an episode, the peak is not even upon us yet, NANDODEMO!

Loro Lukic

Your discussion on why you watch Orb, Nowak already answered that for you. "The most important choice you make in life is what you give up." (Ep 3) When the characters choice is to give up their life in pursuit of truth, it's inspirational. You're just like Rafal, "it inspires me." Hubert touches on this as well on how it gives his life essence. This episode always gets me tearing up man, if only they could hear from Hubert himself - "a wrong answer is not a meaningless one."

AvaRISE

The Geks are ulting pretty much every outro when it comes to Orb.

joursh

i was not expecting to start this video off with 5 minutes of mountain talk 💀💀😂

joursh

studio gek doing cicada 3301 confirmed?

jrnoodles

Thank you! I love when they show the sky so detailed. I also love shows that make you Geks thinks and talk about. Very interesting to hear your thoughts.

joursh

younger piast is oikawas va, hard to tell

Orb will sweep comments of the week istg

Deepraj

This show feels like a hymn to the restless human spirit, tracing how fragile sparks of doubt become blazing constellations of truth, and reminding us—amid today’s noise, dogma, and manufactured certainty—that the courage to question is what keeps the world moving forward for the good.

Lil Mimi

Go bald Cannon

Loro Lukic

On how one of you mentioned it grounds you in life, that its grounding. In some aspects I really like this personally. For me, lot of animes these days have backstories or tragedies that are so outlandish to the point of disconnect - this show really draws out the something intrinsic to us. I'm not articulate to describe it but in my best way - an anime could layer on as many tragic events for a backstory layered on one another, meanwhile I'll randomly see those videos of child impaired kids being old enough for their first hearing aid and their reaction to their parents voice will make me tear up. There's a million and one emotional (positive or negative) scenarios out there that touch on something so simple in us. A student being accepted into their university, a person given a random compliment, a regret of a missed oppurtunity. In this episode on the guys deathbed, I fully expected him to say "tell me in heaven, that I was right." But instead he says "the truth." Theres something so simple yet touching about this that the show really captures Edit: im commenting on the go but yeah, you guys mention it right after that it touches on the most basic human experience

Ninaly

I want to highlight that while you may not have gotten your friends to watch Orb, you did bring this show to the attention of so many viewers! This became my favourite anime through the Geks, so in a sense, thank you for the recommendation. :')

Adi Agustha

Oczy… what a good character. Up there with Thorfinn. I always think that it would be interesting if they interact

Deepraj

Like the characters in the show, hope that this will have a ripple effect to the viewers watching it for the first time

Deepraj

What I love most about Orb is how it honors the human spirit of wonder—how that quiet awe give birth to curiosity, curiosity dares us to seek truth, truth hardens into convictions only to be questioned again, and even when the answers falter, they still matter, because "A wrong answer is not a meaningless one" .

Carter D. Andrus

This became your goat and you started it after we did?!

Lil Mimi

I thought Rafael was going to come back

GreetswithJudgement

Orb has me thinking about astrophysics/intellectual freedom/existential dread/the beauty of thought… And then there’s the Geks…got me thinking about mountains. Peak learning experience.

KrispyKenny

I'm gonna need a translator for this.

omg that's what I thought too haha

コーロコロ ムニュムニュ

I also enjoyed this episode. This anime is interesting, but I was able to hear each of your deep thoughts, and hearing them made me think deeply myself. I had a fulfilling time♪ I'm looking forward to the next episode too♪ Thank you😊!

Enma

Reading this gave me a stroke, thank you

sil 🧸ྀི

love the fact that first badeni basically goes “if we get discovered, we can blame jolenta” but then after working with her he’s all “if we get caught tell them you don’t know us or anything related to this” 🥺😭 this little trio >>>

This is Daniel

To answer Carter's question, I'd say Orb taught me that the pursuit of knowledge is an ongoing journey. Even if we reach a perceived truth, there's always a new theory that can challenge it. Therefore, it's about being open to new ideals and, hopefully, cementing them in some logical framework that allows us to agree, or to disagree, respectfully. EDIT: Also, that pursuing knowledge and experience for the sake of learning is a gift. However, similar to watching reaction videos, it's greater when that gift is shared with others.

Bob

Man dr stone would be great

Arturo Rolón

Are we gonna get a 100 Meters movie reaction after Orb? Same mangaka, same structure—turning something like heliocentrism or a 100-meter sprint into an allegory for something deeper As a former athlete, it hits on that vein of my personality but with the impact of Orb

Pats

Such a good show for demonstrating the sacrifices made in history for the pursuit of knowledge. Jolentas comments on reading and writing being like miracles is remarkable as well and they are skills that we somewhat take for granted now. When you think people’s words live on for hundreds of years and can make strangers in another period of history feel something, it’s really remarkable

Beanpole

bleach today?

Jack

It will be up soon

Jack

Possibly, we have been recommended it a lot

Miitei

I started Orb on a whim, I stayed because I love its characters and how perfectly humans are portrayed. It was really easy to relate so many experiences with them. Just in this episode we got so many examples, like Oczy starting to change his view on the world as he learns, Badeni changing from "if we get caught we said Jolenta is a witch" to "if we get caught you don't know anything" after getting her help. Piast being afraid and ignored the truth he saw but still regretting not doing anything with that all those years, and so many more examples. I love the plot, of course, but it's the characters what makes stories for me.

Adi Agustha

its funny how they manage to discuss so mucheven now, i can't wait for the discussion for the next episodes... this is not the peak of the series yet

Enma

In this anime, the characters aren't really "characters" in the traditional sense (so far, btw I'm watching it for the first time alongside you guys.). They act more like a personification of an idea. Like Cannon said, its like the main character is "truth". This pursuit of the truth takes on a life of its own, passing through those that seek it. And it is inspiring, because it speaks on humanity's collaborative effort for progress. After each passing, ideas and theories become more evolved and complex. Maybe this is what Jolenta meant when she was talking about how writing and reading are like miracles. For this particular story, touching on Carter's point, it makes sense that main characters will die (I'm assuming that Badeni and Oczy will die before they perfect heliocentrism), and like I mentioned, its less about the character and more about the continuation of ideas and progression towards the truth or a common goal. Like we seen a few times, Hubert to Rafal, Rafal to Oczy, Oczy to Badeni, and Piast from his mentor (idk his name). So even if the author does something "dangerous" you gotta give them a chance/your trust and follow along because it might be something special. I don't know how I fully feel about this as of right now honestly. I love character driven stories so I hope each character is given enough time to become more developed, rather than them starting to become just that and then die and repeat the whole process again (which could be repetitive). But thats probably the point idk, so enough of my yapping, I'll just end it here and think more about it throughout the rest of the season.

Melizé

Yeah Neal pointed it out to me when we were watching the reaction that he also voices Choso, which is funny because it is yet another JJK character 😂

DonDuh103

Wait roots to a mountain?!? What are y’all on, right now. Geks getting sick has done something to their minds.

Melizé

Piast not wanting to give up on his life's work (understandable hesitation) and Badeni hitting him with "is the universe born from such thinking the natural product of God or the product of human stubbornness?" Gave me chills 🥶 One of the reasons I love this show so much is the dialogue. It just never fails to impress me. It's hard to find an anime where every character impacts me and where every single word carries some type of weight to the point I am constantly thinking about it. I watched Orb when it was airing and I remember feeling so much love towards it. It reminded me why I watch anime. Just like Jolenta was talking about reading and writting being miracles, it reminds me that this masterpiece was written by someone who lives across the globe from me. Yet, against all odds, it crossed time and space to end up on my screen. Forever grateful to have witness this story. I CANNOT wait for the next episodes. PEAK!

DonDuh103

Orb is the type of story that breaks us out of are bubbles, the fact that we have far advanced technology we feel we know everything and use the most advanced libraries like google/chatGPT what frame mogging is!Then watch how centuries of grind by people like Count Piast, Jolenta, and Badeni, not only did they not have ChatGPT but were creating the foundations of the cosmos we now use.

joursh

kenny wtf bro 😭even i can barely understand this

jared

Loving this intro and all the thoughtful discussion and the learning love inspired by this show ⛰️!

Mint Blue

Hi! I’m Japanese. This series was very popular and widely discussed in Japan when it came out. I don’t think it’s as well known overseas, so it makes me really happy to see you reacting to it! The original title "チ。(Chi.)" represents multiple meanings in Japanese: "地"(earth), "血"(blood), and "知"(Truth and Knowledge). Can’t wait to see more of your reactions!

joursh

loved the post episode conversation, what you guys talked about is a great perspective. just the idea of everything you KNOW to be true turned on its head is mind boggling, and would be an INSANE pill to swallow for almost anyone. like if you told me i was in a simulation or i don't really have a consciousness of my own, i'd think you were crazy, even IF you presented me with the facts and gave me all the proof i needed. it's just not something a normal person would be able to get over

joursh

is this the longest single episode drop in studio gek patreon history!?!?

shlomit5577

This intro is the opposite to last time brainrot intro😂 love your reaction ♥️

DontFailArtSchoolEren

People dont have ideas, ideas have people. Humans willing to sacrifice everything for something so fragile yet can transcend time and space.

Walter White

great outro and i agree with cannon, orb is like the heliocentrism of anime some people will see it and say its just dialogue and boring or whatever, but if you truly open your eyes to it and think i dont see how you couldnt love orb

Ninaly

Yessir

Ninaly

I've heard so many good things about this movie

Ninaly

Yeah the strongest aspect of this show is actually its character writing for me

Ninaly

Your last paragraph <3 orb comment section too op

Loro Lukic

I heard it's popular there but it's nice to get a confirmation! It's interesting, another new show called "Shogun," I've heard isn't popular in Japan but very popular overseas. Basically the opposites based on origin!

Hyped Toj

prolly my top 3 episode from this show

nocomprendo

Count Piast really needed to have a chat with Hubert A WRONG ANSWER IS NOT A MEANINGLESS ONE 🗣️🔥

Shpitz

Loved the show when it aired, and I love it even more now with the discussions with you guys and the comments

MissJodles

Orb is my absolute fave show on the channel rn purely because your discussions are so good 💯 This really is one of those life-changing shows that gives you so much to think about on a personal, political, societal and universal level. There is so much humanity in this show and its characters. 10/10 as always guys !

James

Cannon: "The main character in this show is truth" You guys have excellent critical thinking skills and comprehension. If we could only get more shows like this in this channel

Melizé

I believe so ♥️

Smart Guy

No wayyyy not saying this episode isn't incredible but I can think of at least 5 episodes that top this from the series

LuvStarburst

Because of this show, I believe we'll get random facts about everything from this point on, since their curiosity has been sparked. I'll be honest, just knowing some random facts can really change your perspective on life and how you see things. That's why I love my social media pages, like Tiktok showing me things about art, science, games, life, astronomy, and everything else in between.

Ninaly

It's crazy that word represents so many different meanings, and they all kind of thematically relate too

James Kropiwka

Yeah I wish everyone could watch this anime. Its really eye opening, and "breaks you out of the matrix". Makes you really put things into perspective. Just like where your at in life and the fact of the era were living in. Its interesting to think that the era were in and the way we think and see things could be completely different 200 years from now, just like how people believed in geocentrism back then. And the fact that even this comment I made on the internet probably wont be seen from people a year from now. Time keeps moving whether we want it to or not. And just how little of an impact our lives really cause in the long term of things, and how it makes you realize to not worry about what happens after death or if people will remember your name, cause at that point it doesn't even matter anymore, just how you lived your life, enjoying the life you've been given, and if your happy with the life you've lived. In this case the pursuit of something greater, the truth is what made there lives fulfilling in a way. There is no wrong way to live life, as long as your happy with the life you've lived.

James Kropiwka

Yes I love this quote from Badeni. Its so profound yet grounded and logical.

Sari-chan

It happens often in Science, where nobody publishes results that do no go with what was expected, and it is fundamentally stupid. "Being wrong does not make it meaningless" is a wonderful moto, because if everyone could share what went "wrong" we could get to the truth so much faster, in and honest and humble way.

Sari-chan

I love "simple" characters like Oczy because there is really such a thing as the "curse of knowledge" Once we know we forget how it is to not know and we take it for granted. Ocsy with his questions reminds us of how we only know what we know and we don't know what we have yet to discover. He helps me feel grateful for what I know and make me more excited about what I don't. I have terrible anxiety but I feel like these days, it feels more like excitement!

Sari-chan

Yes! Not much has happened but perspective has changed and that really does transform the plot!

Rachel Dias

I really like how this show shows curiosity like a character in of itself. It's like the story is less about the characters and more about the pursuit of truth.

Jeff

I like how it gets you guys to really do a deep dive.

Elio (ichigo’s boyfriend)

I love watching Orb because it reminds me of Freedom. Pure Freedom. The peak of human nature, the quiet might of free knowledge. The kind of Freedom that lets you have fierce convictions about your ideas, where they can be proven true or false at any time in your life. Yes, you might feel rejoiced if they are true or feel devastated if they are false. However, at the same time, you can also deeply appreciate that you had the privilege of Freedom—the free will to hold those beliefs all this time. Just amazing. The Freedom to give your whole life to something. The Freedom to stand tall against the world—for the world. Just like what Rafal did. I miss Rafal so much. To me, he was truly free. He defeated death, and he did it perfectly by exercising his free will to the fullest—even to his own detriment. By pursuing knowledge, writing it down, and passing it on to the future, forever. He truly overcame death. For myself, my entire life is literally a struggle to become more free, as much as I can. Even if everything is against me, I break down and keep moving forward as hard as I can. Yes, it’s hard. Super hard, actually. The world, the place, or the people that surround you can sometimes break you to the point of no return. But when you understand that you have no choice but to be Free, you get up again and move. Freedom is truly fascinating. Always seek your Freedom.

All might

Honestly orb is a gift
