YESSSSSS ABSOLUTE CHI-NEMA OF AN EPISODE

Miitei

I WAS WAITING

DrNutBurger

AN HOUR? ive got to lock in for this peak

Melizé

Been looking forward to this episode since you guys started the anime. Fun fact, Kenjiro Tsuda read the manga and asked to voice Nowak! He loved that character and oh boy did his performance did justice to the character. I think this might be one of his best performances if not his best

Miitei

I didn't realize this is 1h long, I have to lock in

Cairooo

Peak episode

Cairooo

The discussion is about to go crazy

Elio

Peak

Franky

Why is this one hour

Carter D. Andrus

Yep ngl I think I’ll think of nowak before nanami now

Carter D. Andrus

Too many amazing characters in this amazing show

Melizé

Based Carter

Melizé

No bad character tier list, literally no matter how you rank them, you could make a case for all of them

Melizé

Notice how towards the end of the episode they give you a specific year and a country and ep 1 they leave it as 15th century in the kingdom of P. This is intentional, just food for thought :)

Melizé

"Comrades who built an era together" 🔥🔥🔥 on of my favorites lines

Enma

I need to catch back up because why is this an hour long

TheBookerDeWitt

This episode cemented this show as a masterpiece in my eyes. Very few moments in media have moved me the same way as Nowak breaking down and sobbing as he prayed for Jolenta. Kenjiro Tsuda's voice acting performance as Nowak should be studied

Grenadoxy

Great discussion! it should help you understand next version of OP better than I on my first watch

Mufufu

NOWAK what FUKING CHARACTER MAAAAAAN

DrNutBurger

its sad to think about but draka would have been worse off if she didnt get involved with heliocentrism and lived a long life, because without meeting people like Schmidt and jolenta im not sure she would of ever have found comfort in her own mortality. Im sure she would of made a whole lotta money though

GreetswithJudgement

I get where Cannon is coming from—and honestly, I think a lot of people feel the same way. You spend time with these characters, you follow their struggles, and naturally you want them to be the ones who see it through. You want that moment where everything clicks and their journey pays off in a clear, undeniable way. You want resolve! That’s what most stories train us to expect. But I think that tension is intentional. So far, there’s a pattern: one person discovers something, another protects it, someone else carries it forward. It doesn’t move in a straight line, and it doesn’t promise a clean resolution. Like Erwin Smith said: “As we ride to certain death, we trust our successors to do the same for us.” Not every story is about the ones who finish the change. Some are about the ones who make sure it can continue at all. These are our Goats. That’s why I don’t see Orb as just a story about heliocentrism. I see it as a story about faith. Not blind faith—but the kind that asks something of you. The kind that makes you hold onto something even when there’s no guarantee of payoff. It’s about ideals, resilience, and the quiet responsibility of carrying something forward possibly without an end or the promise of one. Faith isn’t certainty. It’s terrifying territory but also the freest. Like these characters who didn’t make it, it’s on us to choose to believe in them anyway.

This is peak, truly the orb of our times

Allsports Athletics

Go back and watch episode 1, in the intro we see an eye opening and then 3 drops of blood which you might think are from Oczy but if you go to Draka's death we saw at the end 3 drops of blood and her eyes shutting down.. It was there from the beggining guys! Draka dying in the sun which she used to hate and Schmitt died in the dark and not in the sun which he loved, the writing is immaculate. And then we have Nowak, one of the best villains in anime hands down, he loved his daughter so much he is willing to take all her sins (Not just Heliocentrism but especially her taking her own life which is the ultimate sin) for her to go to heaven, its hard for me to cry for shows but that moment gets me every time.

Allsports Athletics

I watched Orb alone when it was airing then showed it to my father who is 60 years old and has never seen anime. We watched the show together and caught up when it was airing at like episode 15-16, when episode 23 came along he really really liked that Rafal line and I cant still remember him saying that it was phenomenal.

Allsports Athletics

His performance as Nowak is second to none, His VA as Ogata in Golden Kamuy is also IMO better than Nanami, JJK is very popular and most people will think of Nanami but for me its NOWAK all the way and also Ogata!

Guremaru

Nando Demo.. :'(

Deepraj

Even if your life’s work never reaches the goal you dreamed of, it still has meaning because you chose to keep going. Rafal in ep 3 said "I think Inspiration is something more important than life itself. So I will let inspiration live even if it costs me my life", and that kind of belief gives hope its power. Holding onto a dream, even one you never achieve, shows that you believed in something bigger than yourself. Hope isn’t about success—it’s about having a reason to move forward. And maybe that alone is what makes a life truly meaningful. In that perspective life is always meaningful coz you exist.

Melizé

Awe Im glad that was his first anime 🥹 so wholesome!

Jack

Holy outro Batman

Jack

For sure

Jack

Ah makes sense, I thought it was the Oczy mouth opening but me and Carter noticed it was the same in this episode.

Jack

Some Peak comments in here, I love seeing your guys introspections and interpretations of this episode

cozo

40 min outro?

Tivy

Wait 40 min outro?? I need to start watching this anime asap

Miitei

I don't think Cannon is wrong to expect a satisfying resolution to the story of the characters we've met throughout this series, because in some way I think we all hope for that "happy" or idealized ending where we don't have to think about what would actually happen in real life. Even knowing beforehand how heliocentrism was known irl, I still had a tiny bit of hope that Orb would pull the fiction out of the bag and give us that ending where our characters were the "heroes" up until this episode where everyone utterly die...so I don't blame anybody for hoping 😅 I don't want to say more to avoid any unintentional spoilers or put any expectations on you guys or anybody that is watching along for the first time, I'll save it for the finale. I loved the discussion at the end; this is the best episode of the show for me, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I can't believe we only have two more 🥲

Sari-chan

We never realize how much impact we have on others. The characters who passed the torch did not know that well their successor, but their unwavering faith until their last second on earth shook their successor to their core. It made their mind and heart yearn for that faith they witnessed in their predecessor. This show is so inspiring.

alex anderson

Nowak at deaths door, with Rafal’s and Jolenta’s help, finally understood what it means to have true faith in an idea, and was finally inspired by someone else, even if he didn’t fully understand it himself, and took action in the name of “love” Episode 3: Nowak: “You’re out of your mind. You’re sacrificing your life for something you don’t understand. Can’t you see how that is madness?” Rafal: “You’re right. But you could also call it ‘love.’”

DontFailArtSchoolEren

Existence forces you to move forward, to survive because suffering and conflict is guaranteed in a world of uncertainty. I think being born in modern times what is something worth fighting for right now and if our efforts truly pay off in the future or its all in vain. This show was entertaining even if the characters we see are the unsung heroes of heliocentrism because we agree it probably happened through history and this shines the light and respect to everyone.

Grenadoxy

Always love that the glove was oversized but fits perfectly now, as if it's God's plan.

McKay Carter

This show deserves 1000 comments every episode

Adi Agustha

seeing this can go one hour, I can't wait for the finale discussion. interesting predictions! :))

Day 5 of recommending Re:Zero

All might

wth the Geks started outromaxxing?? Is this the longest outro in Gek history?

Melizé

Cannon brought up a good question regarding whether our characters would be satisfied with the outcome. I have giving it some thought and I think it doesn't matter. I think they all died fulfilled, whatever happens after their death it's out of their hands and it's up to the next person to carry on, something Badeni had to struggle with. It's like Oczy pointed out, both heretics he met died with a smile, they were the only ones that placed hope in the world and died satisfied with the choices they made. To me, that is the message, to live pursuing your own truth and to die with fulfillment in your heart. Oczy is a great example, Badeni told him heliocentrism wasn't dead and the chances of his plan working were infinitesimally low, to which he replied "that's wonderful... my life ends with hope intact". Again, they don't know what the outcome is going to be and all they can do is hope, but even if things don't work out, they made a choice they wouldnt regret. To place hope in strangers is scary, but having learnt the truth and leaving behind something so that someone might spread the truth was enough for them. It wasnt about our characters getting recognition for their efforts, it was about the truth prevailing despite all of it. At least that's my take on it.

T.Yaseen

Nowak saying that he felt pain for Rafal, and how he didn’t want to see him die despite having completely different beliefs, really hit me deep... It shows that even in a world divided by ideology, there can still be moments of human empathy.

Facts 🗣🔥

Cannon Andrus

Could potentially be the longest outro in Gek history

kuza

holy outro im assuming the geks are loving this show? havnt watched but have heard hype around it

cozo

forgot about dark finale

GreetswithJudgement

I’m going to miss this part of the community after this show. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone in the Orb comment section. The level of understanding and respect here is honestly rare. It makes watching the show feel even more meaningful. The facts that the comments have as much depth as the show itself, yep gonna miss it.

jared

that's a beautiful point and so well said; that moment really hit me so deep too

jared

spoilers for attack on titan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I think this has been bubbling up in me for a while but it's just hitting me as I read your reflection that the handoff that happens from each of our characters is really reminiscent of Erwin's speech; the way he had to let go of his dream and leave it in the hands of those that would follow, trust in them, cede control (and inspire the recruits to do the same; to help them understand that as the correct course; to place that impossibly high degree of trust in those that would follow); that moment in AOT which is so profound has happened here over and over and over again; the humility, trust and courage of these characters is so incredibly profound Edit: just saw GreetswithJudgement made this same connection ✨

Kim Chus

ABSOLUTE ORB

Kim Chus

We are finally here! In the Kingdom of Poland. In Episode 1 it was called Kingdom of P🤔

jared

Allsports that's incredible thank you for sharing that this line really got me too; the teasing out of deep truths and progress for all through conflicts between apparent enemies even unto torture and death; the idea that even those could be collaborative and part of a kind of friendship and comradery, a joint project for the benefit and betterment of all; it's a kind of depth, long view of things and grace that I cherish; it relieves something in me to see it portrayed like this

jared

what an outro, loved every minute, thank you geks (and comrades in the comments ✨)

Ninaly

Amazing outro! I think you guys examined this from every angle you could by this point in the show, and I'm just grateful that the Geks are engaging so thoughtfully with media I love. <3 Like McKay said, it's great that the show is generating this level of discourse. The couch has been split on different ideas throughout the show and I imagine that'll continue until the very end - and it's been awesome. I love hearing your different takes. The topic of dying "in vain" and the meaning of a life is so bittersweet. I'm not going to talk about Rafal/the show because it would vaguely spoilery, but it's just as meaningful to think of those questions in the context of our own lives. You guys asked SO many questions: If I die right now and failed my life's goal, would my life have been in vain? If future history books found some influence in my existence, would that make me feel better about it all? If I failed to achieve my goal, could I still write an autobiography about it? What is needed in a story about failure to make it valuable enough to be heard? It's hard because there's no objective truth, just interpretation. Rafal will tell himself one story, depending on how he wants to feel about his life. The viewers will tell themselves another, based on how much we care about Rafal. In her dying breath, Draka was flipping between two equally valid takes - the "what was my life for?" and the sun. There wasn't a right answer. She just had to pick one, and she chose the sunrise - she chose peace. If I die still as an optimist, I will look back on my life and DIG for an interpretation of my life that comforts me. A story of all my experiences that makes sense and matters. In a bittersweet way, it's as if all media we consume is story training to help us construct this final narrative: reframing your life in a way that makes sense to you, one last bedtime story to give meaning to it all. I feel like that's ultimately what will happen with this show, no matter how it ends. You'll have to choose what you find, because it's all there - meaning, nihilism, grief, God. You'll know your interpretation is, in some ways, a reflection of your current self and desires - and in that way, your opinion might change as time passes. Mine certainly has on rewatch.

Ninaly

And forgive me for ulting again, we only have TWO episodes left!!!

Poragami

im not even the biggest twilight fan, but where is it lmao

Ninaly

NANDO DEMO MY FRIEND

Ninaly

Wait get out

Ninaly

The way his voice broke when he talked about Jolenta finding purpose might be my favourite sad line delivery of all time :(((

Ninaly

The actual GOAT cast, moving in perfect, intersecting character arcs

Ninaly

Tears in 0.5 seconds thinking about it. I think his prayer is the most tender show of love in the whole series, and it is from the villain

Ninaly

What a comforting perspective :)

Ninaly

10/10

Ninaly

You guys are engaging sincerely with the show so I think viewers are trying to return that energy/effort :) I've read so many amazing comments

Ninaly

It's sad it's underrated but you guys are one of the few in a position to help its popularity and you are

Ninaly

Amen to everything in this comment thread!!

Daniella

This is easily the best episode for me! I loved that Nowak died looking up at the night sky, just like the people he condenmed to death for doing the same and praying for his "heretic" daughter, accepting that his misunderstandings caused this, never blaming her once. I was initially sad about Draka but i also love how she died appreciating the beauty of what a new day can bring, even though it brought her death. The deaths in this show happen abruptly, but all the characters feel so fufilled in their endings that it never feels unsatisfying, also W outro!

Daniella

Just commenting about the outro and everyone cooked in the comments already, but this episode kind of told me the goal of the show. Rafal says “Comrades that built an era together.” This is an era in 15th century Poland whereby Heliocentrism is not accepted and therefore we have a group of individuals all moving towards a goal of having it accepted, even though they risk death. From a real world perspective, how many women died fighting for their rights? How many people died fighting for civil rights issues and the abolition of slavery? We don’t remember them and they’re lost to history (just as Antoni said last ep) but, for me at least, their efforts aren't in vain because of the world we live in now. So i do see both sides of the argument, I’m very excited to see you guys’ thoughts on the ending :)

Unlucky Trandon

This has to be a top 10 anime episode ever. This episode put Nowak at 1 for me personally.

Miitei

Yes!! Please do 🥹

GreetswithJudgement

And just to give a shout out to the Geks for giving us such a great outro. I don’t know if you guys realize that it means alot more to us than you might think. Reactions in and of itself are great but it’s the conversations after and the breakdowns and the different dialogues is why I followed you guys in the first place. I’ve watched alot of reaction channels and you guys are the ones I settled on because you guys give us just enough hype, just enough convo, and just enough engagement that keeps us alive. Everything feels raw and natural versus staged. I might not engage with other reaction videos on this channel but one thing I know for certain is that you give us something to think about, something to respond to and something to come back to. So cheers to you for being the Goats.

Melizé

Literally! I remember the first time I watched this episode, the moment he breaks down and starts pleading for Jolenta hit me so hard

Melizé

I am going to miss it too. I don't think I have commented nearly as much under another show. Orb might might get just a few comments per upload but pretty much all of them are goated.

Melizé

Very well said ❤️

Nashi

Faith is a wonderful concept. In the movie conclave, which by the end I didn’t like that much, gave us a wonderful monologue on it: “There is one sin which I have come to fear above all others: Certainty. Certainty is the great enemy of unity. Certainty is the deadly enemy of tolerance. Even Christ was not certain at the end. ‘My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?’ he cried out in his agony at the ninth hour on the cross. Our faith is a living thing precisely because it walks hand-in-hand with doubt. If there was only certainty and no doubt, there would be no mystery—and therefore no need for faith. Let us pray that God will grant us a Pope who doubts.”

Nashi

Worse off is completely subjective as you know. In the span of days she learned so much, became a better person and found something special at her moment of death. Materialism has fogged our brain and confused us into thinking long life = better life

Nashi

Just an outstanding piece of fiction happening right here. A 10/10 episode. Something about seeing Nowak free himself of ego in his last moment to humbly funnel all his energy into praying for someone else’s soul is just beautiful. I can’t even begin to describe how Draka’s sunrise scene moves me, the ultimate buzzer beater. Will truth always be challenged and opressed? Maybe, but the sun will always rise.

walkman

An hour! About to be a peak discussion afterwards

Jeff

You guys keep saying the book is still only in Drakas head, not sure if it was mentioned already but are you guys forgetting that Jolenta wrote out the book/manuscript already while Draka narrated it and thats what they were going to use for the print press lol? I think while they were getting ready to run one guy said they hid it.

jrnoodles

Thanks Geks! RIP Draka :(

HAHAHA

joursh

IM LATE BUT NANDO DEMO BOTH OF YOU

Garreth

Well said Greets

Miitei

Yes, but I guess they meant that nobody knows anything about it, because they all died.

Jack

Well as far as we know the church is gonna destroy all the pages that the Heretic’s printed, so it’s basically gone. Draka was the only person who had the freedom to keep the book going essentially

Jeff

Oh for sure, the likelihood of it surviving or being found is slim since no one knows about it. It just sounds like they forgot that there is a hardcopy technically in this moment. Just the way it was repeated that its 'only' in Drakas head made it sound like maybe they forgot that there could be hope that it is lost and found one day.

Rachel Dias

This show is historical fiction, they created characters so they represet a sentiment about history and about the lives of the people in the time period, but no historical figures is ever shown. History is already written. Nicolas Copernicus created the heliocentric model and was executed for it. Galileo of Galilei tried to defend the heliocentric model against the Pope unsuccessfully and was sentenced to home prison for the rest of his life. I dislike a lot how the anime made it seem in the end like the persecution of people that study the heliocentric model was a localized mistake, whe it was a real problem.

Vextipher

I didn't even consider the hard copy that Jolenta had made. The focus shifting to the letter distracted me from that and definitely makes me curious on that and an oversight for a few people.

Vextipher

It's been really good, very inspiring on a human level.

Vextipher

I'd probably have to do a rewatch, but I personally don't think the show directly conveys what people are saying as much as it conveys the importance of pushing heliocentrism/the book/truth. I absolutely see the themes and messaging, but think the story keeps the latter forefront. A lot of the story up to this point is consecutive people pushing through the same through-line while individually having their own epiphanies that build up towards a culmination of their efforts. Maybe that's more a literal sense of what we see instead of a message that's intended to be conveyed but I think the show has set a lot of perspective on the point to disseminate heliocentrism/the book/truth and a solidified goal than an abstract message that it's suppose to inspire. I'm really interested what's next for these last episodes and discussions thereafter if anything changes how the story has played out.

kuza

if i could start and finish new anime easily i wouldve been watched 😭

Noah

copernicus was not executed and never received any persecution from his theory

Dale Thomas

Bro, is this the longest outtro in gek history?

Adi Agustha

Would also be interesting if you guys go back to this discussion again after you watched the ending

Miitei

You are absolutely right. Up to this point the story is focused on probing and publish heliocentrism. I was able to reach to the conclusion that it wasn't about that after the final episode. Not that I didn't the other aspects of the story, but the core as of now has been heliocentrism so I was very focused on that and felt similar as what Cannon was expressing in this video.

Noah

the name albert can't be a coincidence 👀

Walter White

Nowak has the best voice actor

Chosos Wife

I love McKays dedication to bringing up the compass 🧭 in every episode

Chosos Wife

I sobbed so hard at Nowaks death, begging for forgiveness for his daughters sins as they're not hers, they're his. Seeing him beg for her entry to heaven while holding her severed hand, perfectly fitting in the glove. Him admitting he felt so much pain for Rafal and acknowledging that that was his one and only chance from God to change himself and yet he couldn't. All of it hurts me. And then immediately cutting to Draka, dying, claiming her life never mattered and nothing matters. Only to be met with a beautiful sunrise, which she should hate, but she can't bring herself to hate the beauty one last time in the face of her death. Almost as if all of her views, that God and the afterlife doesn't exist, doesn't matter anymore because only God could make the sun rise in her one last time. This show guts me with every single death.

Chosos Wife

I saw them drop episode 1 and 2 and remembered it was on my list. It's only 25 episodes so I sat and binged it all in one 8hr sitting and then came back for the reactions 🤣 definitely worth it. It's hit my top 5 immediately. Outstanding show.

This is Daniel

Yeah, both Novak and Draka's death on rewatch hit a lot harder. This show just gets better with further deliberation. Great insights at the end, so polarising but the goal remains the same. Truth.

All might

Nowak's voice actor absolutely COOKED in his final moments. that emotion in that scene was palpable

All might

Nowak's death, Draka's death and then a new protagonist all in tandem?? Orb let us get up

All might

ofc I want them to be the ones to release the theory to the world, but I think if the story ends otherwise, that it just shows how much of a risk they each took for what they believed in, despite their goal not being guaranteed. And also it's kind of the story appreciating the underdog. There's always stories written about the people who made it to the end but never the martyrs that were lost along the way. Their efforts were worth depicting in a story even if they don't end up being the final 'heroes'

DonDuh103

Are we watching GOT like wtf!?!

DonDuh103

Draka realizing right before dying that all that money, knowledge, conviction means nothing and the simple sunrise is something to appreciate. I have terrible health issues and I love the little things. I use to go out go fishing, gun range, travel little, or just leave the house to do something. These days I can’t go out with my friends and family to do anything too physical but appreciate spending time with them watching movies, shows and just hanging out. Plus the Gek community is one of the best things I love to spend my time with.
