The thing why TYBW arc is one of the highest rated anime seasons is simple. Its the sequel effect. Most people havent seen 366 episodes of Bleach. So usually fans who are interested in TYBW rate it. Its still a good season with great moments.

@ Geraldine Jo Chill out. I love Bleach and i have been a fan for over 17 years. Theres no reason to feel personally assaulted by me just stating a fact, which is common in the anime community. The sequel effect is real, because most people drop out from shows they dont like and only those who love it remain. Not everyone has seen Bleach and those who have and love it obvisouly rate it higher. Its your opinion that TYBW is one of the best arcs and its also not shared by everyone. People had mixed opinion on TYBW back in the days when the manga came out, that it was slow and rushed at the same time. And even Bleach Fans slowly start to rate every part worse, because it is getting worse with each part.

What i meant is that Fans who watched the entire thing will rate the sequel higher, because they are the only ones who can rate these seasons, because they watched everything before. They hated how rushed it was towards the latter half in the manga but that doesn't mean it was disliked as a whole. Bleach generally does a good job answering questions that a viewer might have. I didn't pay attention to what kind of questions you had but this is generally a point where reactors/viewers tend to have questions about more things than one. I don't really think there are any stuff that don't get explained in the show. Some just might get more explanation than others due to their importance or so.

Kenpachi is honestly one of my favorite characters in the entire series. What makes him so cool is how he completely flips the usual “strong Shinigami” ideals on their head. Most Soul Reapers treat their Zanpakuto like a sacred partner or a tool they have to master and harmonize with. Kenpachi sees his sword as something to dominate. He refuses to even learn its name because he believes true strength comes from raw power and willpower, not from “befriending” your blade. That clash of ideals with characters like Ichigo is so fascinating they’re both chasing strength, but Kenpachi’s version is pure, unfiltered battle lust and self-reliance.

What an insane episode, best episode of the show as of now. I want to know really bad the essence of the swords, they seem like they were alive before their wielders so what were they before? Where were they before? Why do they need a wielder? How is Zangetsu’s existence different from a soul? I NEED TO KNOW. I guess now I can see how Ichigo could defeat Kenpachi but I wasn’t expecting him to lose at all after all that build up. Thing is, even without the help of his sword, Kenpachi’s prestige seems to show he could defeat other captains due to his spiritual energy being bonkers. Do other soul reapers (captains, lieutenants or anything above) also not have that good of a relationship with their swords? The should all defeat Kenpachi if they had, not knowing your sword seems like such a nerf now, or is Ichigo’s spirit pressure just that insane? So many questions. Wasn’t feeling bleach that much until now but I must admit I’m hyped now, some great storytelling in this fight, hope they keep this up

Man I really can’t stand Hulu subtitles for the first like 60 episodes of bleach. They just get so much wrong and it’s like they aren’t even trying half the time. “Shosuke” instead of “sosuke” in this one, “what are talking about” in the last drop, the amount of times where someone calls someone their first name and the subtitles say the last name, the third seat guy calling himself a lieutenant, there’s so much more too. Ik it’s hard bc no other streaming service has bleach except for the pirating websites but it really irks me when the geks get misinformation just from subtitles. It’s mostly small stuff like names but I can 100% see it happening in the future with more important scenes.

Bleach has some of the most aura/badassery yet still manages to have deep themes and some incredible story lines throughout. sometimes with modern anime they sacrifice story for aura and flashy fights which is kind of frustrating because Bleach already did such a good job of setting an example of balancing both. Was just rewatching the ending convo, these things have been stated before just not together, urahaha stated during the training arc that when a soul is pushed close to death it grows stronger and increases spiritual pressure as a defense mechanism and then in this episode zangetsu stated mid fight that he stopped ichigos bleeding but not for long

Yall are asking the real questions now. Kubo did what a lot of shows can’t with today’s gen of anime and its make a battle shonen with deep meaning and writing and a good fight. I used to think the same thing lol. It was so introspective to me and the poem at the beginning of each volume w/the corresponding character made it even more so. I used to reread them so many time and just try to put together the themes and motives and just trying to decipher the dialogue and monologues and the images! My goodness my English teachers had no idea how much i put to work what we were learning in class for Bleach lol.😆

Urgh, the dbl spread(iirc) of Zangetsu appearing at Kenny's side is still one of my favorite illustrations from the Bleach volumes. Kubo really put to use black ink and white paper. It's one of his greatest strengths as a manga artist besides his fashion sense imo. To end it I love the way bleach is super introspective about the idea of "self" and inner thoughts/feelings/motivations. I love how Ichigos inner world is presented and how Zangetsu speaks of the rain in that lonely world. So many amazing themes that are just continually repeated & built up and expanded on; heart, soul, rain, resolve, strength, power. So happy you made it to this eps bc it just explains more about a Soul reapers sword and how they're linked beyond knowing their name. Ah, can't wait for eps 40-41.

Then again, both of them like to act cool and edgy but are such worrywarths... no other zanpakuto would be healing and closing wounds and protecting their wielder like these two do... It is such an Ichigo thing, to act cool and aloof but being a worrywarth protector inside... Zangetsus couldn't any other way than being just like Ichigo

TBH You also have the themes and subtext in One Piece, It is just more secondary for Oda, while for Kubo the themes and subtext where the primary thing, and everything else was second. It is Kishimoto that kinda sucks at the themes and subtext and is overly explicit. Bleach is that divisive because like 70% of what makes Bleach good is in the subtext and themes, and Bleach will kinda suck for anyone that doesn't analyze their media and just gobbles it like slop, Bleach is just that kinda show that you have to engage with it actively instead of consuming it mindlessly. It isn't high art either, it is not that deep, but it is deep enough that you kinda need to minimally engage with it to enjoy it properly
