Intriguing start to the arc. Love the opening mysteries every time they reach a new island. Also I hate to be a Debbie downer, but the way one pace edited some parts of this arc were so choppy. But I understand the need for it, at least for a bit.

Its not that random they ended up in the same place, Aokiji/Akainu would have chosen an island relatively close to the Marine HQ/ the beginning of the New world, and they are now in the beginning of the New World. they had like a 1/3 chance of ending up here.

One Pace seriously cuts out too much context wise. If y'all use it, I feel like it should only be in the second half of the arc so you have a cler concept of what's going on beforehand. Here's some context: the legs got attached to Luffy because he kept chasing after it. The random centaur Luffy was talking to actually entered the scene more naturally than what you guys saw. He was looking for them but Luffy was so excited to see someone with four legs, he just befriended him and started racing with him to see who was fastest.

For reference the centaur randomly showing up was a visual gag in the manga, while Usopp and Brook are talking, Luffy is in the background running into and making friends with this centaur with no dialogue and then they randomly breakout into a fight afterwards; One Pace failed to really get that across

Since I'm both curious, and it would provide some nice content, after this arc since the next one is pretty massive it would be cool to see a tier list of your current favorite characters. See where the Strawhats rank amongst the crew. Could even throw in a top 3 marines and top 3 side characters. Just something to see which characters resonate with you all at this point in the story.

i'm a purest binger i will never understand the use of one pace. these days people want things fast and instantly watching videos at 2x speed and what not. i can watch the long stretched out moments punk hazard has some of my favorite comedic moments so i hope they don't get lost without the context. there are only 3 filler episodes in this arc the whole arc is cannon

I love the gag of robin saying the most gruesome shit out of nowhere lol, it kinda connects with what you guys said in the last drop. She literally is just living freely now, enjoying life, but (probably) that pessimism or habit to expect the worse out of people or situations, stayed with her. I mean spending 20 years like that, i would assume it would be hard to get rid of that lol. I love how consistent and distinct the characterization for each strawhat member is. They're not perfect saints and I love seeing how each of them gets passionate/empathetic about different things. I think hearing the samurai talk about his son hit home for sanji. And nami has bellemere's spirit for children.

exactly what i said. i'm a purest when it comes to binging things, bad pacing or not, i like to experience it how it is. anime used to not be available to watch on demand or stream so sitting week to weekk i learned to ignore bad pacing because if the story is good it out weighs that. i can understand some later arcs that are jjust too long cutting it out but for an arc like this a few minutes on every episode isn't going to effect the pacing much it's not like the episodes are an hour long.

I think the minutes saved with One Pace is a bit misleading since they count the intro and initial recap and the outro? It's stuff you normally fast forward or skip in regular OP anyway. I would be more interested in how much time is cut down with One Pace if you exclude the stuff that's skipped in a normal watch anyway.

few mins every episode adds up, sorry but not everyone can tolerate it like you can.. its easy to lose interest. also they're using a mix of both, so its not just all one pace.

One Pace keeps the opening but cut out the recap and outro, which is normally 3 minutes. PH has 41 episodes (exclude 5 pure filler eps). So it saved about 400 mins actual content (about 20 episodes).

Guys I know One Pace might be bad at times, but for arcs such as this one its just necessary. I think most people that just straight up binged the series with no One Pace like me would agree that the alternative to the bad cuts is just grueling; mind numbing filler that just goes on and on and on.

It’s actually because repairing the keel would’ve meant rebuilding the ship from the ground up. They had resources, the problem was that once you replace essentially every part of the Merry, it’s no longer the Merry. I suppose the Klabautermann wouldn’t be there anymore and it would just be a copy wearing the same name. It’s funny to me that the geks keep focusing on the keel issue but imo it was pretty poetic considering that we know Merry is not just a pile of wood

Logias changing the climate of an entire island is one of my favorite displays of power in OP. Crocodile in Alabasta, Akainu and Aokiji in Punk Hazard, even Ace created a "phenomenon" on Drum Island when he was chasing Blackbeard, if I remember correctly. It's just soooo cool

You guys can relax. I’ve got nothing against One Pace. My point is just that anime adapts things differently so it translates more smoothly on the screen because context matters to fully appreciate what you’re watching, hence my suggestion on starting the arc with regular episodes and moving to one pace once the plot is established. They obviously don’t have to do that; it’s just a suggestion.

Definitely not a plot hole, they never said the keel couldnt be repaired, just that it isnt worth it since you would be doing the equivalent of buying an entire new ship but through repairs instead of just buying an already built one. And that even with the repairs, it wouldnt be the same ship, which implies it's soul would be gone. He wanted to have an epic send off for Merry and give her the equivalent of a funeral, while giving Franky the start to his dream. Not a plot hole in sight.

My biggest issue beyond what you mentioned, is that one pace is very amateurish edits that have a very flawed misunderstanding on how to connect scenes. "its more accurate to the manga!" people also fail to understand why adaptations have to change some things to make it work for video format. It honestly feels like they're asking for a slide show at times with cuts and cuts and more cuts. An anime is never going to be 1:1 from its manga source, they're two entirely different mediums. Obviously the padding can be bad at times, but skipping entire conversations and people meeting and just teleporting them in front of each other in the middle of their conversation that you didnt even see get started, is just so shit lol

It's literally not, otherwise it would just be still frames with voice acting. Anime and manga are different for reasons. Manga is a read at your own pace style that lets you spend as long on pictures as you want, soaking up all the context of what's going on in the panel as normally it's multiple things, unless it's multiple panels displaying 1 thing. Anime doesn't work like that and voices can't be played over top of each other so things get stretched, it's not a big deal
