Strap in boys! This arc is awesome. This arc is like 118 episodes of the regular anime. But using one pace will help out a lot!

this arc is EXCELLENT it just can drag a little. Think of water 7, where it was peak with a peak story, but in the middle there was some meandering stuff (the cook fight, running through the streets, fighting the 3 headed judge etc) this arc is like that, but longer. It has some PEAK. But its long, and has some meandering parts, but the payoff is worth it IMO. Outside of some of the pacing issues, this is an EXCELLENT arc, and you guys will enjoy it!

In terms of culture don’t wanna refer to any specific question asked but Oda takes a lot of inspiration from real life places and different stories. Alabasta is heavily Egyptian inspired for example. Not gonna claim to know all the details I’m sure someone could better explain but as a surface level thing that’s something to keep in mind

I'll never forget this arc in particular because this was the arc that was airing live when I first started watching One Piece. I actually caught up to the anime after several months to a year (i cant remember how long) and this arc was still going on lol. I hope me and other commentors haven't set your expectations too high. Its a fantastic arc but like all the previous arcs before it, it has its slow and annoying moments. So shoutout to SavDog for the guide, I sincerely hope the mix of One Pace and og will make this experience the best it can be for you guys.

First of all CONGRATULATIONS CANNON cause you called buggy becoming a warlord way back in post marineford arc. Here are some observations about the episode that you guys might have missed :- 1) Absa is Absalom from thriller bark and he is using his invisible fruit to get the news about everyone. 2)Doflamingo doesnt need to have the fruit to get aces fruit, he is the biggest broker in underword. So if any other person had it, he could just get the fruit from them. 3) Dressrosa is mostly inspired by Spain. And Lastly very excited for the arc . it contains top tier writing of every facet of story telling. Hope you guys enjoy as much i did.

I swear every time mero mero fruit is revealed the first assumption for who's gonna get it is Sanji and I won't get tired of saying that for Sanji it would be a debuff because he'd gain nothing and lose his ability to swim. He would become affected by sea stone cuffs and weapons too. I mean he already can use fire and being a logia in new world doesn't really matter bc almost everyone can use haki + observation haki is his specialty, so he can dodge. Idk why everyone thinks of Sanji first, he is probably the last person I would give this fruit to

I love this arc so much! In my opinion, purely in terms of just its content, it's the best arc you guys will see so far (i dont think that's a hot take). Unfortunately the pacing downplays it alot but with the guide you guys are using you should have a good experience seeing as one pace cuts the 118 eps down to 48. Can't wait for this arc

People have probably already mentioned this, but Dressrosa is heavily inspired by Spain, particularly the Gaudi architecture in Barcelona! This arc was still ongoing when I visited Barcelona for the first time and some of the buildings are one-to-one drawings of Gaudi buildings lol

The blind person is based on Zatoichi. They did one movie then it spawned a ton of other movies following the character. I would hold off on it until later in the arc but even if it's your own personal time the original movie is great and the rest are pretty good. They did a remake at some point that is fine but watch the OG.

I know you guys hate fillers, but One Piece fillers are actually pretty peak. Animations go hard and some of them are pretty fun stories. In general the anime tried to connect the filler episodes to the cannon without effecting the story and I think they did a pretty good job, but sometimes that leads to things like this.
