When Bartolomeo says that “even children know crossing your fingers creates a barrier” he’s referring to a common Japanese belief that crossing your index and middle fingers acts as a protective barrier against bad luck/evil (“cross your fingers for good luck”). Also kids may do it after touching something gross/encountering something bad like dead animal or poop, they also say “engacho!” while crossing fingers. It’s like a ritual meant to protect themselves from “contamination”

idk why it's hard to believe that someone does prefer the added filler/suspense to a scene in anime. Sure 50% of the time it's excessive/annoying but the other 50% is good and makes it better, no lie. Whenever I think of future arcs, there are added scenes that genuinely make the moment better. If I think back to past arcs, ‘the arlong walk’ was added scenes and Rob Lucci’s backstory was added. And those help made the arc or characters more memorable. I’m happy you guys are doing one pace for this but im excited when we change to og whenever we get to those *moments*

Might be a hot take but even pre time skip had shitty pacing, but pre time skip is also where alot of heartwarming comedy is so using one pace super early could take away some "magic" its true. I do suggest one pace for alabasta, sky piea, LRLL, Enies Lobby, impel down and marineford. As im listing these im noticing that toei is the worst thing ever

Bounties in general don't exactly reflect strength but it is a good indicator. It is just how the World Government views the person as a threat. Like little kid Robin having a 79,000,000 bounty. That's also why the Straw Hat bounties don't change after every arc because the World Government isn't entirely aware of their feats (Like Skypiea or Fishman Island).

anyone can use haki but specifically conquerors haki you need to be born with the ability to unlock it and use it, and even then most people who could probably won't ever use it. luffy isn't strong because he was born with the ability to use conquerors haki it's just something else that's available to him

Think of Conqueror's Haki this way. 1 in 1 million is born with the ability of Conqueror's Haki, but it stays dormant. They will only unlock it and be able to master it if they live in a certain way. That way is if a person is highly dedicated to achieving their dreams. If they forfeit their dream/goal or live in a way that's not worthy of being a king/conqueror (of their dream), then they will never be able to unlock it. The dream/goal can vary, Luffy wants to be King of the Pirates, Whitebeard just wanted a Family, both have Conqueror's Haki because they are extremely dedicated to those dreams. So Conqueror's Haki is a combo of a person's genetics and their dedication to their dreams/ambitions. Regular Armament/Observation are abilities that anybody can learn, they just need to train for it or they unlock aspects of then in a high intensity situation (Koby at Marineford).

Conqueror's haki is also known as "color of the supreme king" as in you have to be able to have the ambition and willpower stand above others as a king would or rather you can't be ruled over, so i agree with you guys on that front. Although, Garp did say you have to be born with it so yes anyone can have armament haki but you have to be special to unlock conquerors. I also think with Koby his whole thing is going be with a very special type of observation haki cause of what happened to him at marineford, but great outro :)

Yeah I think it’s a combination of both. Kinda Like Cannon said I like to view it as talent + hard work. With enough hard work anyone can master haki and be really powerful like vergo. Someone can be born with the affinity for conquerors haki but it doesn’t matter if they’re never in a position to awaken it. It would take both hard work and affinity for conquerors haki for it to truly matter. Hard work and talent are needed.

I think haki is the opposite of what Jack said. It's something that everyone can train to have and something that levels the playing field against the people who happened to find OP super powers. Devil fruits are something you have to be lucky enough to find and lucky enough to get a decent one too. There is some training there too and mastering your fruit but like obviously no one can train to use the gear 3 Luffy has. I really love the colosseum fights by the way, its just so satisfying and fun how all these characters interact. I couldnt stop grinning because I never thought one piece would get its own hype tournament arc lol.

I don't know if you guys noticed, but when it introduced Barto, it called him "the cannibal". The more correct translation would be referring to him as a "man-eater", which comes from a japanese slang expression. "eating someone" means to mock or provoke them, which is very much what he does.

What we know so far about Haki is that people can train to develop their armament and observation Haki and not everyone develops it at the same level. So it can grow to become stronger. Conqueror’s Haki is innate. However not everyone can manifest it and once manifested, they have to train to control it. It’s the difference between choosing who drops to their feet and who doesn’t. And only those of weaker willpower would actually drop.

I think one great example for the haki talk at the end was KD and Leborn, you cant argue the mechanical skill of KD is over the top, he trained so hard, he loves the game and all that, but his just not built to be the locker room leader. LeBron on the other hand, no matter what team he played for, he was always the leader. They were just built differently.

HOLY COW !!!!! Jack you were going to casually spoil one of the biggest revelation of the show. About conquerors haki , its 1% mentality thing. All of us do hardwork but some of us have different attitude towards it. Some of us just don't get bogged down by difficult situations and push through them. Those who don't give up there dream, principles, beliefs etc when the face adversities. You cannot train these thing, people are just born with this mindset. Think of haki this way Armament and observation is more about will and conquerors is about character of the will. So everyone can generate some will power through hardships of life . but you cannot change the character of that will through training/hardship.

They all seem to have higher durability. We also haven’t really seen Shanks durability or endurance fully on display. But that’s only if they let him land the hit. I personally prefer the W7 saga to Summit War saga but as a single arc yes, MF is definitely the best one. Although I always thought it was weird that W7/EL were split into two arcs to begin with since they're so deeply interconnected.

I love Carter gets to enjoy early one piece already due to Bradlynn. Because just like most of us, they started One piece begrudgingly and give it too much of a hard time. Because One piece is an acquired taste. It’s so much more enjoyable in the second watch, the pacing really doesn’t bother cause you know what’s coming. Anticipation is what makes the pacing so much more unbearable on the first watch. But when you know already what’s coming, you can just enjoy what’s happening right now. You enjoy the arc specific characters more because you know you won’t meet again for a long time again.

Like I hated Fishman islands so much at my first watch I almost dropped the show. My friend who recommended it to me had to push me so hard. But I actually appreciated how important and well written that arc is . And no matter how insignificant of a villain Hordy was, it was the villain the arc needed. That fight wasn’t Strawhats’, it was Otohime’s fight that they finished. Hordy was her villain, he was what she died fighting for her whole life. He was not strong, he was just someone for the Strawhats to flex on. Cause let’s be honest , after 2 years of training if they struggled against the first villain they meet would be a bit disappointing. And that blood transfusion scene is peak af. Hate Van Der Deken, Absolom and Foxy even after multiple rewatches though. But I guess Oda gotta have an extremely hate worthy character every arc. And they’re the top 3.
