A_Daddy Daichi

McKay taking sneak peaks at the intro lol

Audreyldo

Soo happy that you guys like it sm 🙌🏼

A_Daddy Daichi

Such a good man. Till this day I still miss Thors 😭

brian

number one has always been berserk, but every anime adaptation has pretty much failed (outside of the movies) because it's just way too hard to adapt the mangaka's art. some studios have tried by using CG, and failing miserably. check out of clips of the CG version on YT, it's garbage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E40KiYBJAHM vinland saga is definitely top 10, so happy it got an adaptation that is made with a lot of love.

keyton bush

Thors is kind of like Erwin for me, though I see Erwin as being more so in the gray area morally. Both are elite men who fight for what they believe in and have to put their values to the test. In the end, the ultimate test of conviction is giving their life for what they believe is right. For Thors, he chose to protect his people by sacrificially offering himself, so that the Jomsvikings wouldn’t attack his village. But more than that, he modeled his convictions for his son. He told Thorfinn that he has no enemies, it’s never okay to hurt, and that a true warrior doesn’t need a sword. His words were not in vain. He stood by them to the end, and showed Thorfinn a perfect ideal by which to live. The question going forward is: will Thorfinn follow after his father’s footsteps, or will he be consumed by revenge?

keyton bush
>>105897647

Also, afaik the author isn’t a Christian, but I can’t picture Thors’ death as being modeled after anything else. What a beautiful sacrificial image, Thors standing as a dead man embracing his son.

When Thorfinn is screaming damn… maybe my favorite scene of VS. So excited for you to see how good this character is well written

Aidan Ross

Haven’t watched yet but really hope Briggs puts together that askeladd has the same voice actor as madara from naruto. My first watch through that’s all I could hear when he spoke.

The RZA

I think you are all going to enjoy this almost as much as AOT. This is a fun one since its loosely based on reality. The Thors scene may have hit harder than Carla scene..might be a hot take, idk

luffy

"this is no time to be joking around with a straight face" i love how bjorn knew askeladd was being serious when he asked thors to become his leader

luffy

one piece is way better than naruto L briggs i fear

luffy

this show is just gonna get better and better with every episode man

Sandra QH

It was the hardest episode :(

rosa_gris

It is a truth universally acknowledged that Berserk, Vinland Saga, and Vagabond are the holy trinity of seinen manga. (Seinen is a different demographic from shounen like One Piece and Naruto.) Kingdom is manga that gets an honourable mention along with these three. Despite being such beloved mangas, they have the worst luck when it comes to anime adaptations. Berserk’s two adaptations were a hot mess. Kingdom’s first season was CGI animated and it put a lot of people off; so it didn’t gain much popularity with the Western audience. There is no anime for Vagabond yet. Vinland Saga was fortunate enough to have an amazing adaptation.

>>105903849

Yeah, also Tokyo Ghoul is an incredible seinen manga. Unfortunately it had a poor adaptation too.

Ale

Thorffin's voice actress always gets me man 🥺 I cannot express how much I love this story and hopefully you guys will love it too, the characters are amazing.

BrianTheWoeful

You guys are so lucky just now getting into the greatest anime stories of all time. This episode is when the show really takes off running. Can not wait for next week

BrianTheWoeful

As for what's considered the best manga of all time, I haven't read One Piece yet but I know how rabid the fan base is and that some people treat it like the Bible. I want to get into cause I hear it has next-level world building... it's just so dang long. As for Berserk... well it's really hard to put it into words just why it's so phenomenal... I actually didn't read it until a year ago and it exceeded my expectations and then some. It's a cultural icon for a reason and continues to influence so many fantasy works to this day. Trying to sum up how complex, engaging and exhilarating the experience is... is impossible. Guts is a singular character whose arc is unlike anything else I've seen or read. However, I do feel obligated to warn anyone interested that the content is EXTREMELY graphic and brutal. Finally, there's Vagabond. It's a loose re-telling of two of the most legendary samurai in Japanese history and if you love sword fights, bruh... it doesn't get better than Vagabond. It's funny, it's tense, it's insightful and not to mention the art is so unreal no one's bothered to adapt it lol. Sorry for the ramble, I think I heard one of you ask why the top manga were considered top manga so I wanted to give my two cents

adam

this world shall know pain

Far

"We're about to see Thors get KIIILLED" 😂😂 You can't start it off like that dude

Far

🐐

jason 𒉭

yeah berserk is always number 1 but recommend you guys read the manga before you watch the anime cuz the anime is trash , hopefully mappa takes it on. the three best manga is 1 berserk, 2 vagabond, and then vinland saga. idk why ppl put one piss in top 3.

James

I remembered sitting on the couch one day with absolutely nothing to do, so I started scrolling through shows I could watch on tv. I came across Vinland Saga, and I didn't think I would like this show, but since I was bored, I started watching it anyways. The first three episodes were interesting, but it was this episode that hit me hard, and I ended up bingeing the rest of season 1.

Mia Malvik

I'm halfway through reading Berserk and can attest to it being the best. It's so damn good. Anyway, this episode is incredible. I can related to Carter just staring into space for like 5 minutes lol. Askeladd is so cool, favourite character on the show 🤌🏻

Mia Malvik

Oh also the band who does the opening, Survive Said The Prophet, have amazing music I recommend checking out. 'RED' is another favourite of mine

三上

The vocalist of Survive Said The Prophet (his name is Yosh) sang the ost 'barricades' in attack on titan.

RIP Thors. Seems like Thorfinn will go feral! I'm curious to see what's coming. Also, since I've seen One Piece catching some strays 😂 I feel like sharing my thoughts. So far One Piece is my favourite *story*. Just as you know it's very long with 1000+ episodes/chapters, but it's world building is even bigger and incredible and the main characters are crafted carefully and have their purpose, making the story more enjoyable to follow and eager to see the adventures that awaits them. Actually, not only the main characters, but a lot of side characters have a clear purpose to the story and might surprise the reader. Before I said the world building is great, having so many characters just adds to it, it's so diverse! The creativity the author has is one of my favourite things plus his humor just makes the story more unique I believe. I don't think this story is for everyone but that could be said for any story too! One thing that One Piece makes people get hooked on it is the mystery it presents, and that is the title itself! I could keep on talking about it but I'm not trying to make the Two Piece on this comment section... Ah, one more thing, if I had to choose a character all of you five would love is Zoro, no doubt! (Luffy too, he is very lovable). Aight, thank you for the reaction!

Jag_227

Proof that watching the OP spoils aspects of the show: Brig had the theory that Thorfinn would be captured and raised as a warrior by Floki/Askeladd based, in part, on the images shown in the OP. Keep doing you, Carter and Cannon 😜

luffy
>>105907640

i started one piece 2 months ago i was hoping to watch 3 episodes at most and here i am at episode 900+ it really is worth the hype

Dio
>>105920205

I mean honestly you can kind of predict that at a certain point

James

A well-written story, character development, and intense action scenes are reasons why we recommended this anime especially after watching AoT.

woah

brig reaction?

Jathen M Nakamura

this is probably my favorite show, i'm stoked you guys are enjoying it.

KazumaSpitfire
>>105916458

Kim555

Bryce
>>105919356

Yeah we’re in for a ride for sure! Thorfinn is a great character. As far as One Piece is concerned, more power to you man lol I have some friends who swear it’s amazing and I recently tried to start it, but I just couldn’t do it. It’s almost not fair to say because how long it’s been running, but the earlier episodes are VERY dated so if you weren’t watching from the beginning, it’s very tough to get into it now. I also think you just need to be into that kind of story where it’s focus is extremely broad and not more narrow (like AOT, Vinland saga, etc.)

studiogek
>>105964104

Totally understand and so sorry it has been inconsistent as of late. Like I said in past comments and posts, we have been really thrown off with the copyright stuff and are always double checking with other creators on how to post moving forward, which causes the inconsistencies. Once we get the youtube channel back and things get more clear it will be consistent again

khalxeesi

anime haters --> carter having the top selling manga stats on the top of his head

celery
>>105964104

would it be possible for u guys to give like an update on patreon or discord, if u guys know u will be late posting something just to let us know, i think that might be helpful until u get the youtube situation fixed

>>105919356

love your comment!! once you get to a certain point in one piece, there’s no turning back. it just gets better and better. when you think it’s just some fun pirate show with lots of crazy adventures…oof. i’ve never felt so many emotions watching any other show (probably cried the hardest that i ever had watching it)

Melizé

I was finally able to watch this episode. Someone please give Carter a hug 🥺 I've seen this 4 times now and it always makes me tear up.

OrangePudding

Every time I watch this I just cry lol such an epic death scene and so moving

april 🍏

For McKay asking why the manga is so highly rated without spoilers: I would say the solid themes, like morality and ethics - especially surrounding violence - and realistically paced character development throughout the story. It's geared towards mature audiences (not Shounen, which can have phenomenal storytelling but is ultimately aimed at teenagers and is more often action/adventure). The storytelling is really methodical and meditative and honestly so beautiful. It's made me cry multiple times while watching and reading.

Wägi qwq
>>106594129

seriously if you think Vinland Saga is depressive, then Berserk is a War. I read it when I was 16, and I could'nt enjoy it because of it's mature and sad tropes.

Chrisiyyi

Berserk is legit insane, its basically art every chapter page, the story is VERY mature and if things like AoT and Vinland makes you sick berserk is next level in gore and how cruel humans can be. Story wise its also super interesting and still to this day no anime or movie can portait the art in the manga. If you are interested its 100% worth to read, i never read mangas and this is one of the few i took time to read because of the berserk anime, the manga is 100% better in this case and its not even close.

Chrisiyyi
>>107297359

@brig One piece has some big GOATed scenes and fights, if you like naruto you would like one piece as well. What i like about one piece is that you get such a connection with the characters that those moments in the anime make you feel for them alot. Its hard to get into as its very long, but i am a nolifer anyway so watched it all the way through and dont regret a thing.

Wulfheart

Probably one of the best episodes ever. Gets me to tears everytime. I love how y'all started the episode joking about Thors death and ended it with such a different mood. Depression as Carter said lol

Diana Rodriguez ⛓️

Please, I hate this episode with my soul, I feel like I was robbed, I wanted to see more of Thors. So hard to see Thorffin go through all of this.

Diana Rodriguez ⛓️

Carter: starts the video saying “we are ab to see Thors get killed” Also Carter: is at the brink of crying when it actually happens.

Cation

A warrior needs no sword. Words to live by

Sasha

Mckay is now Spoiler Mckay because he watched half of the intro😂
