The scene at the end of this episode was unreal, this entire episode was so good but that scene at the end really put it over the top😳

EXCITE

Dannie

God bless Studiogek

Zechree

look at these beauties'

Riya

Wow, didn’t expect it to be so early. Super excited! Thanks

Aidan Ross

I completely agree with cannon in the intro this series has a great story but I’m not really drawn to any characters. I can recognize it’s impact but I’m not a huge DN enthusiast.

Dannie

Haha I can’t lie, I had a crush on L the first time I watched DN. That Gollum riz.

Cookie

Did we all know Cannon was gonna be anti-light? 😂

Cristian

Code Geass has to be the follow up to Death Note.

ssj4rit

The “early” 2000s were a crazy time. Peeps were thirsting over Levi, L, Light, Lelouch, Sasuke, Sebastian from Black Butler, I can go on.

Chrisiyyi

At some point people will say the show gets worse later on, however when i watched through it i liked it alot. Its something you appreciate a bit more when you have seen it (the end) then in the moment of watching it.

Riya

Lmao look at how distant they were walking while Light was talking in his head, how weird would that be in real life

After watching how bad many shows have fallen off the past 15 years I feel people are less harsh on DN now lol. The fall is not nearly as bad as all the critically acclaimed shows these days after their first few seasons lol. I’d argue it’s not even bad at all, it’s like the difference between a 9-10/10 show and a 8/10 show The manga is also pretty good throughout, it’s just the anime after a certain point started doubling the pace. The first 25 episodes adapt like 59 chapters, then the next 12 adapt 50 chapters. So a lot of cool stuff and characters were cut. Had it been adapted properly I’d say it’s pretty consistent throughout. One thing the anime does spectacular is that last episode. Better than the manga imo.

Cookie

Carter sits like Walter White

I understand Cannon’s opinion about DN. I read the manga live and it really was a great story and plot driven but honestly I didn’t even finish it towards the end. When the anime came out I remember I didn’t like the adaptation, probably only the opening. Actually disappointed it won the poll. 😫 It’s like mystery novels that don’t translate well to movies.

A_Daddy Daichi

I actually finished DN today. Only took me 2.5 years to watch it haha. Very interested to see you guys finish it. I have my thoughts as a new viewer but obviously, I'll wait! My favorite characters I love are L and Ryuk 😌

You’re righteous(?) 😂 You’re a nice dude. Even when it comes to characters in anime. LMAO you were anti-eren so you’ll be anti-light 😂

kingkoopa98

Mckay just wants to see destruction in every show lol

Merielle

**spoilers for the episode: ngl, I was laughing maniacally a bit like ryuk when you all were yelling no as she gave light her real name

I agree. There are very few shows I can name that don’t fall off halfway through or near the end. It’s rare for series to be consistently good. I think that’s the reason why FMAB was MAL’s #1 anime for the longest time. Whether you think it’s a masterpiece or decent at best, I think most people agree that it was a solid show; consistent in quality and with little flaws.

rosa_gris

This was the episode that got me hooked to Death Note and made me binge the episodes on a school night (rip sleep). I get what Cannon is saying. When I rewatched Death Note, I realised I hardly remembered the majority of the cast. I wasn’t emotionally invested in the characters. I usually prefer character-driven stories over plot-driven ones, but I find myself rewatching Death Note more than I would most other series.

I consider early 2000s for anime like 2000 up until first couple years in 201x. But yeah regardless he was thirsted over a lot back then. Not sure if it’s the same intensity these days.

Joydan Bri’an

I can see how Cannon doesn’t really gravitate towards the characters. I mean Light is literally the antagonist, L is weird (i had a crush on him as a teenager ngl lmao), and everyone else at this point are just background characters. I think that the more they get into the show, they’ll learn more about the characters. On a another note, I love this episode. It’s one of my favorites from the show and it had me on the edge the whole time. Poor Naomi got manipulated at the end. I was so sad for her

YoItsNiko

The whole point of light is that you are not supposed to like him as a character.

Riya

Btw I'm not sure if you realized but around the 18:45 mark, right before Light asked for ID, Ryuk laughed like a crazy maniac is b/c he probably saw her lifespan get shorter

Fátima Quintero

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Cannon, the "I guess it's time for my Smeagol era" killed me HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH

Thina

what i hate about light is how he taunts. he made sure ray saw his face before he died. and he revealed himself to naomi right before she died. even when she walked to her death he was teasing her "my father might respond now, wanna try and call" with the slight smirk.

Carl

Love that y’all are into this show. Death Note is what initially got me into anime, it’s so well done.

Mia Malvik

Mckay with the "I want light to kill everyone "😭😭

Sean Carroll
>>108442458

yes as soon as she said she wants to work with light and has nothing else to lose ryuk saw her lifespan reduced instantly to zero or something

Pressure

13:10 just to clear a bit of confusion Raye could've went anywhere but if you use the death note the user can never go to heaven or hell (R.I.P Raye)

DAI

I love you guys' reaction ( you can tell by the fact that ME of all ppl are joining reaction patreon lol ) but I would love if you stop discussing the story with facing each other, especially on Death Note. It is not that complicated for now but the more the series progresses, the more the small details matter. You can discuss as much as you want during the reaction, but I suggest you do it facing the screen. Since you guys are watching it on sub version, and obviously you don't understand Japanese by just listening, It would be a shame if you guys miss the important details because you are not looking at subs.

Bai He Fu

Cannon's reaction to the episode's end. Oh, sweet summer child. Love how he's always for the good guys, no hesitation, and even changes sides on a dime as soon as the "good" guys are becoming corrupted (Eren in AOT, here Light in DN). We must protect at all cost.

i can appreciate him as a character. hes well written and interesting. but personally i dislike him and how much of a psychopath he is

Takari

Hey I'm the girl who has crush on L :D but it was not instant, I'm sure you will appreciate him more later in the series

A
>>108445157

I agree thina. very interesting character but he's crazy

Audreyldo

I agree with Cannon, I don't like or feel connected to the characters and for that even though the story is great i think it's one of my least favorite anime

pikaiichuu
>>108475319

Exactly ^^^^ I swear I've never had an individual experience cause that's what happened to me to probably most of us

Laura Mayer

Poor Brig, trying to keep his sneezes quiet, Bless you man😄✌

Laura Mayer

What’s really tragic about Naomi’s death is that it’s (partly) caused by a primal human need: the desire for recognition. Her own fiancé dismissed her thoughts, worries, and capability to add to the Kira case which made her greed for someone’s attention who would acknowledge her, and that person used that feeling to earn her trust and turned out to be her killer.

Brittney Wright
>>108475319

Same! I think it's his kindness contracted to Lights manipulation that made L so attractive to me in the show. I would say Light is hotter physically but he treats people like dirt.
