That foot massage scene was craaazzzyyy 😭

leah

BEEN WAITIN FOR THIS ONE LETS GOOO

Lukash

one of the best episodes ever created. Also I think the foot drying scene is reference to a bible where Jesus cleaned Judases feet, before Jesus was crucified because of his betrayal. 'Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, he laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him'

ssj4rit

It was a good ride bois. Btw if anyone’s curious, in one of the guidebooks L’s real name is stated as L Lawliet. Though it’s still unclear if his first name is really just L or something else.

ssj4rit

Also idk why but Light getting his memories back reminds me of Eren kissing Historia’s hand lol

Shpitz

It's hard not to be a little bitter about it. Not only did light have everything playing in his favor from the entire notebook magic and everything we talked about before, to Rem playing along and lying to L while literally willing to do anything for Misa, who in turn would literally do anything for Light. The guy literally rolls a net 20 on every occasion with his luck. But L also has a much higher standard, the way he kept Misa locked was inhumane and we can't ignore that but he had cutting evidence. L had a strong suspicion of Light since like episode 3, had he played by Light's morals he would've had him killed immediately as a "just in case". But to the very last moment L did not take the law into his own hands, even though he knew he could save himself by having Watari or whoever get Light. L was exceptional and unparalleled, and while Light is no slouch himself, you can't just describe this arc as "two geniuses went at it and Light won"

Shpitz

Also Rem is the ultimate simp

YourGuy

bro everyone was so tense during episode 25! it was insane

Studze Kisiel

It's tragic that L was defeated by the loss of proff

Aidan Ross

Well episode 25 was where I quit the show so ig I’m gonna finish it for the first time with y’all

Riya

When I first watched this show I remember L's death unexpectedly took me off guard b/c of how it did happen. Hopefully, you guys maintain the hype and still enjoy! Carter in the thumbnail like it's joeover lol

Isabella Manocchio

You have to watch The L Funeral scene on YouTube or something it was cut out its amaaazing

Sean Carroll

i watched all of death note up to this episode in about 2 days, I binged the heck out of it, but when L died I felt so damn flat, I think I took like 5 hours off before I started again which was a long time during that watchthrough

ssj4rit
>>111953772

It’s kinda dumb though. Light yells out loud in a public place while twerking on L’s grave lol. Some of the Relight scenes are sus. They weren’t cut out though, it was for a movie that condensed the anime episodes into one 2 hour long special with some new scenes.

lynn

Watching the foot drying scene knowing what’ll happen next makes this 100x sadder

BipolarKitten

McKay said that he never see any show that have intense buildup like this episode made me think of GOT season 6 episode 10 buildup. The music, the cinematography, the acting. So intense.

bloody

Bro why are you guys really wanting to finish death note so fast? You watch like 8 episodes a week and then watch 2 eps of vinlabd saga

Dio
>>111960817

I think because it was the original winner of the poll and they are in a good spot.

Nonos
>>111960817

Yeah and also cuz I think they said wit this show they wanted to binge through episodes. The show is a good binge watch show anyway

Brian Estepa
>>111960817

are you daft? its literally taking them forever to get this this despite it being the original poll winner

Huxley Bennett
>>111955647

They've said they've thought about it, but given how much would need to be censored for youtube they're not as keen now

Lexi Browning

Just so you know that foot scene was a metaphor. It was replicating when Jesus wiped Judas’s feet when he knew Judas was betraying Him

Chrisiyyi
>>111953943

Last part is great, people just cant accept L dying, i cant spoil anything, but finish the show is all i can say, the ending is very cool.

leah

cannon W bro always has the best opinions. i hate light too lol

leah
>>111976297

you guys are right tho, a lot of people do stop watching atp in the show. couldnt be me but i know a lot of ppl who have. trust tho, even if you want to, the ending is worth the wait

leah

jackson in denial lmao

Dio

Whoever stopped watching the show after L's death is a walking L

jul ☽

omg i forgot L died in ep 25, i somehow thought ep 27 would be it LOL

DC
>>111951105

just a hunch but maybe it’s because both scenes include a character touching something that unlocks memories for them and left them with facial expressions of shock

adam

VS upload tonight?

aubrey !!

the reason killing watari had no effect is because remember shinigami can shorten lifepsans whenever they want, because thats their purpose and how they survive (since they get the remaining lifespan added onto theirs) but they cannot kill someone to lengthen someone else's life span. killing watari had nothing to do with misa's lifespan (or anyone elses) so it had no effect on rem

I completely forgot about Misa’s scene, the way she’s dressed and sings, she’s just like a doll controlled by Light. Love all the symbolism on this show! I hope you all enjoy the rest of season<3

Merielle
>>111983231

Same,,when the rain scene came on I was like…wait a damn minute lol

Ale

This episode always make me so sad and angry at the same time 😢

Bibi

will we be getting ep 26-27 this weekend? I really wanna see how u guys feel about the change in the show 👀 RIP to the GOAT L you will forever be smarter than Light in my opinion, you didn't have the advantages Light had but you were correct from the very beginning 😔

adam
>>111960817

i know right, waiting for the mere 2 episodes of vs to drop every week is just irking me lol

Rip Darth Maul

What's interesting is that L washing Light's feet is a parallel to Jesus washing Judas's feet right before he betrayed him. In Death Note there are a lot of bible references in general.

kiiturii

brig is so right, ep25 is even better on rewatch, all the symbolism and buildup is just perfect

rosa_gris

I love how this episode was written and directed — I’ve been looking forward to your reactions! The rain and foot-drying scenes were actually anime-exclusive. The anime made it more implicit that L knew of his impeding death. I know some manga readers thought these scenes were unnecessary and contradicted L’s character, but I thought it was a poetic way to conclude L and Light’s rivalry. The scenes make L’s death all the more depressing because of how easily he accepted that there was nothing he could do to prevent it. I was not familiar with the bible so I missed the biblical reference when I first watched it. I thought the foot-drying scene was highlighting their power dynamic. Light was in a higher position (literally and symbolically) at this moment. It looked like L was conceding defeat and Light was reigning over him — much like a slave and a king.

studiogek

Love the comments guys, these episodes were incredible. I personally think it was such an amazing end to the light vs L arc and don’t see any reason why we would want to stop watching or be upset by it!! Episodes 26-27 and the Vinland episodes will be posted tomorrow!!

A L

Better watch to the end. You don't want to miss out on it :D

A L

Also is the Voice actor from Lights Dad the same as Askellad?

Shiro
>>111993194

True, even in episode 24, Misa takes a bite out of the apple that Ryuk gives her before she makes a deal for the Shinigami eyes. She literally takes a bite out of the apple from the Shinigami world, like Eve.

Shiro

L was amazing right from the beginning, literally fighting against supernatural forces and giving Light a run for his money. The whole point of Light changing the ownership of Death notes was also quite clever. Light's DN (let's call it DN1) was originally Ryuk's (or at least what he claims) when he dropped it in the human world. When Light picked it up, Ryuk was bound to follow Light, the new owner of DN1. Misa's DN (call it DN2) has the shinigami Rem attached to it. So what Light does before he forfeits ownership of DN1 is, he changes the shinigamis attached to the DNs in such a way that Rem is now attached to DN1 and Ryuk is attached to DN2. As a result, Light's own DN1 is then given to Higuchi by Rem and Misa's DN2 is buried somewhere in a forest. Light knew that eventually when he would get his memories back, he will be attached to Rem, and Rem can be manipulated using Misa. Ryuk on the other hand is truly neutral and will not be helpful either to the investigation team or even to Misa. Through this transfer of ownerships, he ensures that Rem remains away from Misa and can be used to do Light's own bidding, which Ryuk would not have done anyway.

Yes, he is! He has such a recognizable voice! He is also Nobunaga from HunterxHunter, in case you have seen it!

Hippopi

But the rain scene was super gay - Light looks exactly like Hideki Ryuga in the drama Sayu was watching in that scene.

>>111960817

you must be joking because when it was the VS finale we only got one episode of DN that week. please chill out and let them enjoy shows as they want

Ashley

jackson in denial was so funny LMAO

LuvStarburst

I'm not sure if you guys are going to keep going or not but I wish I stopped watching it after 26 or 25 I can't remember since I saw this back when it first came out.

Jennifer Rivera

the ep is sad but also so epic. I agree with Mckay, Light is the goat.

Kaez

Good Bebop shirt 👍

Riya

Mckay literally looked like he couldn't handle the cringe in the foot scene and Jack awkwardly smiling lmao

A

yeah saying bye to L so early was not on bingo card and I was quite unhappy lol. While I liked the last episode a lot and I don't mind the new character, I just felt like something was missing. That's just my view point but definitely can't wait for you guys to see the finale!

Kazuma Satou

Rem killing Watari and L is a giant plot hole imo, unless I'm missing something here. So L's current objective is to check the validity of the 13 days rule - if that rule turns out to be false, because the guy they're using to write in the Death Note doesn't die after 13 days, Misa and Light are under suspicion again. This is what prompts Rem to kill L. But Misa or Rem could just kill the guy after 13 days and it would make the rule seem valid, no? Meaning Rem has no logical reason to kill L here, unless we assume she can't make that conclusion, which would undermine her previously shown intelligence. Also hate how she goes into a different room to write their names in as if to hide her actions, when it's clearly just to have a situation in the plot where Light can get to the Death Note before anyone else sees it.

Kazuma Satou
>>111955647

I was like wtf is he talking about.. The Rumbling in AoT is literally the same haha

Volksradio
>>112516747

Killing the other guy would still have prolonged Misa's life by preventing them from discovering the rule was fake, and killed Rem. Rem doesn't want Light to lose to L, which is why Rem kills L and also why Rem makes it easier for Light to find her book - if Light loses, Misa will either be executed or kill herself, so it's not a plot hole for Rem to help Light win, even if it costs Rem her life. Does this make sense? Also, I love your pfp, Rem(RZ lol) is my favorite anime character

Kazuma Satou
>>112516747

While I agree that Rem killing the guy 2 weeks later might still count as her prolonging Misa's life, I think Misa can easily just kill the dude herself? She has access to a Death Note along with the Shinigami eyes, so Rem doesn't have to be the one doing it. And nice, she's my favorite too :D

Wilson Nguyen
>>112516747

L easily counters that by just having the guys info who uses it not being revealed to light or misa

Yo Dani

"I wonder if its a church, maybe a wedding, or perhaps a.." funeral he was going to say. Also he was kneeling as a testament of defeat and said "You'll get used to it" as in - people kneeling to him
