Somehow our intro didn't get filmed but I talked about what the over arching story was and this episode was great for that

YESS

Kimmer

I have not watch this anime yet… I’ll have to binge yall videos

Goldy

yes sir keep up the surprise uploads !!!

spring deerling

Instead of first I think we should all just comment "thirst"

Goldy

and i forgot to comment last reaction but actually really proud that you guys are trying dub out. I genuinely understand how jarring it is sometimes nut i fw yall even more now. Also i feel like it would be a cool idea if you guys reacted some dubs that are known for being bad just to see what we mean lol

Melizé

Wednesday upload? Let's goooo 🙌🏼🙌🏼

spring deerling

Fr! Watch some bad dubs to understand how great this one really is. Was really happy when they actually acknowledged how solid most of this voice acting is

spring deerling

Automail is just mechanical prosthetics! Winry is amazing in her own right for being so young and being the one who made eds arm and leg! Scar is a super interesting character and I can't wait for y'all to see more. I think besides the different philosophies and thinking the show makes you do about what's morally right and wrong, the characters and their bonds are one of the best parts in the story. Also seeing McKay struggle to keep his mouth shut is hilarious. One thing I do wanna point out that I think is hilarious on Eds part is that during his state alchemist exam when Bradley asks him about his automail arm he says he "lost it in the eastern conflict" LIKE OKAY DUDE you were absolutely too young to participate in the war you goofy mf, and he did it all in front of the nations leader-- the guy who gave the extermination order. Oh, and yeah Roy and Armstrong do have transmutation circles on their gloves so they don't have to constantly draw one to perform alchemy.

spring deerling

I just KNEW Carter would eat this show up, I'm happy it seems like the others who were iffy at first seem to be more interested now too. I'm so excited for more.

Tiga

Roy Mustang is our favorite war criminal lol

Ale

Most state alchemist have the circle already drawn or tattooed on their hands or gloves so they don't have to draw it every time, that figures that you see in Mustang's gloves for example, that's his transmutation circle, but Ed doesn't need one, that's why everyone is surprise the first time that they see him doing alchemy.

Erik Norin

Please watch in sub!

Poragami

Man, the voice actors are good, but i really hate the VA's for Ed and Al lol

LuvStarburst

Every thing is explained just pay attention and remember things

nans

this is the first time im watching a show in dub and it feels so different, but it really is growing on me now. also just proud of you guys for doing what you want in the end and letting us tag along for the ride :)

keyton bush
>>118480977

They’re picking up pretty well, actually, and I think the subtitles help. Not many reactors I’ve seen pick up on the “making a ring with your body” comment.

keyton bush
>>118480977

And they’ve noticed the transmutation circles that all alchemists carry with them, whether it be through armor, clothing, or tattoos.

ABC

Dame got traded 👀

r.s.

So they have a bunch of guns but hawkeye is the only one who can shoot a gun...

ABC
>>118487266

yeah that shit always bugged me. That and Scar dodging bullets.

r.s.
>>118487266

I don't even mind him dodging bullets since it's anime shit like that is kinda normal. But if all ten fire when she does then hes done. Just a bit of plot armor I guess.

ABC
>>118487266

I don't know if I'm missing something because I haven't finished FMAB, but Scar is a normal human that is just using alchemy. Alchemy doesn't just give him inhuman reaction speed and inhuman actual speed to dodge bullets. Fictional stories and anime also have to abide by the rules they set. Unless alchemy gave him powers to dodge bullets, he shouldn't be able to do it.

Nonos
>>118480915

yeah I watched most of it in dub but Al’s voice especially never grew on me lmao

BigManSirob
>>118480915

Honestly, I gotta disagree. I think Al's voice actor is really good, especially compared to Ed's. (I'm saying this as someone who prefers the sub.)

Poragami
>>118480915

Just because he puts a metal helm on in the studio to record Al's voice doesn't make it good imo and I mean like damn, aren't they like 14-16? they shouldn't sound like a 10 year old lol

Ale
>>118480915

Well, consider that Al is actually like 9 or 10 since he got stuck on time before he lost his body so I get that his voice is childish, with that being said, I don't like his voice in dub either 😔

Asbjørn Kennedy

Let's gooo! Very juicy episode and some thought-provoking lines here and there. I especially liked the scene where Alphonse lost his temper at Ed, he was spitting facts, and it is one of the first scenes that really made me appreciate his character. Up until now he has mostly been playing the part of the obedient little brother, so it was nice to see that he got absolutely furious at Ed for resigning himself to Scar - and not for selfish reasons because, like Ed, Al was also still thinking of their powerlessness in saving Nina. It's awesome to hear you guys talk about the characters and "the world" with the limited knowledge you have at this point. Keep it up!

Fedei

Just a little fun fact for yall idk if you guys care but the va for Scar is the same for Erwin and the va for Armstrong is the same for Vegeta and Piccolo from dragon ball, but yes I am glad you guys are watching it in dub the team is well put in my opinion and I am not even a native english speaker. Love the reactions

ABC
>>118474767

Luffy's English VA singlehandedly keeping the western audience away from the greatness that is One Piece

corLeonis

I always gets excited when I get a notification for FMAB and HxH (as well as the movies 😊)

Saidah

Ed doesn’t need a circle because he did human transmutation and saw truth. Everyone else needs a circle and it’s either drawn out, tattooed, carved etc on something to make it more convenient.

kiiturii
>>118480977

I never realized that thery say Ed makes a circle by putting his palms together before either, it makes so much sense now lol

kiiturii
>>118483834

technically they didn't do what they wanted because they wanted to do sub but the comments managed to convince them even though sub won the poll too lol...

kiiturii
>>118487266

they weren't shooting to kill for one, and for two it's really not easy to hit a moving target. Scar never dodged by reaction, he started moving before they shot, and when hawkeye caught him off-guard he got hit by the first bullet, and then barely dodged the next two bullets. He's exremely quick and I guess a bit lucky too, but he never moved faster than a bullet or reacted to a gunshot, just moved unpredictably. It didn't really break suspension of disbelief imo, especially since there's a lot of 'superhuman' stuff in the world of fma

Saidah
>>118505297

They should’ve known it already from the second episode

Saidah
>>118480915

His voice sounds pretty high like that in the sub too tho

r.s.
>>118487266

Why weren't they shooting to kill. Isn't he a known murderer who is currently attacking them. Also hitting a moving target wouldn't be hard if they had ten people shooting instead of watching.

Big8uck
>>118505297

yeah its like briefly explained in episode 2 but its explained more in-depth later on, specifically when they meet Ed's teacher.

Mysterious Figure

There will be several scenes where the dub just doesn't do it justice. It's such a shame to make certain moments not hit as they are supposed to. Why is this show getting the short end of the stick every time? First it lost to HxH by a hair, and then after you guys decided to watch it, you make the experience worse with the dub... it's like this show is cursed on this channel.

ssj4rit

Just here to say the ending song (Uso) is one of the most beautiful ending songs in anime. Hopefully you guys listen to it fully one day. Also way too hyped for HxH this week, lesgooooo

keyton bush
>>118521571

Disagree, plus I think it’s interesting that they’re trying their first full dub experience. Besides, its probably the only dub that even a significant chunk of the audience is ok with. I do think it would be cool for them to do a scene comparison between dub and sub at the end.

SuperChuckABoo
>>118521571

The dub is well done imo and I usually always prefer the sub. Don't get so pressed about it, if they're enjoying the experience that's all that matters. Just rewatch it yourself in sub if you really need to experience it again.

Nick K
>>118487266

Hawkeye is the only one shooting because there are other friendlies near the line of fire, and she's an ace shooter under Mustang who is qualified to take initiative where as an average soldier would probably not be ordered to or allowed to fire with friendlies nearby.

Nick K
>>118505297

This is not "explained" yet and this is a spoiler. They've not be shown that "truth" and his ability are connected and how, only hinted at. In hindsight if you've watched the show you can connect the dots but the show hasn't laid this out yet.

Nick K

It's great just seeing how well these scenes were animated all over again after so long

rosa_gris

Just realised that watching the dub saves me from being distracted by how much Envy sounded like Conan (Detective Conan).

rosa_gris
>>118526531

In Studio Bones, we trust. This is the Gek’s first Studio Bones anime right? Most of the shows they’ve watched have been from MAPPA (understandably so). I’m glad they’re branching out to anime that aren’t produced by Wit/MAPPA.

rosa_gris
>>118522196

I can’t wait for their reactions to the OPs and EDs they’ve missed, especially for this series.

Kamel
>>118487266

Think it’s because of Hawkeyes rank, maybe the others could only shoot by command of the colonel.

r.s.
>>118487266

@nick I guess I need to rewatch because what I saw was a perfect firing line situation with scar being open to gunfire multiple times. Imo it is more likely just plot armor instead of an actual reason.

Saidah
>>118505297

It’s not hinted at it’s literally implied. Ed and Al fight each other and al says u can do it without a transmutation circle. THEN Ed says “u can to CANT u?” And Al says no and then they show flashbacks of Ed seeing truth. And Ed says so u didn’t see it did u. I mean if that’s not obvious idk what is. And it’s most definitely isn’t a spoiler.

Saidah
>>118521571

It’s pretty much just your opinion and preference. Because if that were the case the dub wouldn’t be so popular. Im a person who usually chooses sub over dub and guess what I watched this show in dub and it’s still in my top 3 anime. I think they will still really enjoy the show. So everyone needs to seriously stop complaining about it.

nanaxile
>>118526531

Yes it has that nostalgic feel because of the art style but it’s also super fluid and holds up well even with today’s standards of animation

1999
>>118483834

Wait sub won the poll? Why did they go with dub then?

Rana

Alphonse is voiced by an actual child, so I think it was wonderful casting. Different than how animes normally cast grown women to voice young boys.

Nkechi
>>138209004

Not in FMAB, he'svoiced by a woman in this one. He was voiced by a child in FMA but his voice had changed due to growing up by the time FMAB started, so they got a new VA who is a woman that made her voice sound like the original child VA. She did a pretty good job imo.
