3AM for me and got church at 9. what are you doing to me

Alexandrite Qween

One of the best parts about HxH is the attention to detail. Togashi is also a master at expanding on fundamentals he has placed from the start of the series. You could rewatch it 100x and still have more to explore on a topic. It’s different than any other series for that reason. You should watch YYH which is also by Togashi.

Alexandrite Qween

Also I want to mention that HxH and YYH, both written by Togashi, has been the inspiration for so many anime/manga. One of the most respected and referenced works of all time.

Brian Estepa

Gotta wake up in 4 hours to work. Refresh the page before logging off, yall posted this...

Chrollo is HIM

Lily

Here are more correct Japanese-to-English translations of what Chrollo said after fighting. What a drag. → I'm a beat. I couldn't steal their powers. → I don't think I could ever steal their powers. The right translation gives more depth of respect and the viewer's guess of their power relation. If you ever wanna rewatch episodes 51,52,53, try Hulu. In some parts, Hulu has the translation more true to Japanese dialogue because they have a longer character limitation per line and they are more accurate.

kai

these two eps had me so fuckin gagged

Ashley

YESSIRRRR

corLeonis

YASSSSS. I always love it everytime there's both phantom troupe and zoldycks in episodes

ABC

Sick 4 episodes. Zoldycks are immune, or have a strong resistance, to poison. We saw that with Killua's introduction and Tonpa giving him a poisoned drink and Killua saying something along the lines of, "I've been trained against poison."

ssj4rit

To answer your question if Silva and Zeno were trying to kill Chrollo, imo they definitely were. The 1999 version actually portrays this intent clearer imo, because it has Silva's cellphone ring just when he's launching his double attack, and so Silva doesn't go all-out as he's attacking because he knows his clients are dead since Illumi is calling. Also episode 54 has a scene before the intro song so make sure to catch that, good stuff this week

Teddy

This is getting so good, and we're not even at the climax of yorknew

JJK, Demon Slayer, Black Clover and MHA are the big ones.

teagan

when will the juicy evangelion watch party be uploaded to patreon? :)

illumi

hey that's me!

Poragami

is it just me or is eps 53 low fps?

C E.

Read somewhere that the alternating signs on Zeno’s garb either mean “A Kill A Day” or “Never Retire”. The Zoldyck’s principles are something else.

ffltscat
>>119850020

‘A kill a day’ only shows once in the zoldyk’s mini arc. Other than that, it’s always ‘never retire’

IAMONSTRISM Diaz

I thought we as an audience is able to see Kurapika’s chains but in actuality the chain is invincible because of the nen he used to hide them… no?

Jed
>>119852580

Correct, thats why Pakunoda didnt notice Kurapika’s chains when he was buying the scarlet eyes at the auction. He only shows them off when he wants to decieve the enemy like he did to Uvogin.

Jed

The 1999 version only made it to Greed Island arc. IMO the 1999 version is much worse overall and a lot of the scenes change like in heavens arena is much different.

Shiro

Chrollo putting out a hit on the Ten Dons, the very people who put out a hit on his troupe is a smart move!! That too, by the very same people that the dons had hired as well!! The Zoldycks played both the sides and made money from both Chrollo and the Ten Dons 😂

Bibi

I don't know how far you guys are in recording the episodes but is it possible to release the rest of the episodes for this arc next weekend? 🙏 There are only 5 episodes left of this arc...1 extra episode won't make a difference right... 👀

Izaya

En is a very basic technique of Nen. Everybody can use it if they train it. Its like Ren or Ten. The difference is how well/far can you extend your En, and thats what makes a difference.

BipolarKitten

Kortopi static copy means he can copy a person but the copied body is static (not alive)

Shiro
>>119858966

Yes, whereas Kastro was able to make a living nen copy, but only of himself. Nen is indeed quite versatile!

Shiro

As a matter of fact, there are two auctions taking place concurrently. One is the legitimate Southerpiece auction (Killua revealed in episode 40) which sells artifacts and will be selling copies of Greed Island. The other is the underground auction run by the Mafia which sells body parts, etc. and other items found in the black market. All the action we have seen so far has taken place in the underground auction. And the masterstroke by the Phantom Troupe (PT) here is - through Neon's fortune telling, Chrollo is able to confirm Uvo's death (the 11th month pases away, '11' being Uvo's number) since as far as they know, he is only missing as they haven't been able to find his body, they collectively play a requiem for Uvo by taking out the majority of the mafia henchmen in the city, Chrollo handles the assassins sent to kill PT by killing them all but 2 (Zeno and Silva, 3 if we add Kurapika), he hires another Zoldyck to kill the Ten Dons who put out a hit on the group in the first place so as to neutralize the threat to the PT, gets a lucky break in the fight with Zeno and Silva (luck is also a huge factor in this show, just as in real life), creates fake dead copies so as to get rid of the bounty on their head put by the mafia, steals the underground auction and sells the fake items, making money both ways!! Calling them simply thieves is an understatement, and they are truly a Class A bounty due to their physical strength and Chrollo's acumen!!

Izaya

"static" means something that doesn't move. If something is static that means that they are still. thats what static means. SO Kortopi cant create leaving creatures out of thing air. He can only create inanimate objects

For some reason the 2011 version didn't introduce an important plot point that happens at the very beginning of the manga and in the first episode of the 1999 version. It's not that huge of a deal, but when this gets introduced later in the show it feels slightly jarring or out of nowhere. If you guys ever get a chance, I highly recommend watching just the first episode of the 1999 version before the end of the arc after this one. I think it would make the story feel a bit more cohesive and well fleshed out. Again, not a huge deal and overall the 2011 is much better but just adding that first episode from 1999 onto the 2011 is what I recommend for the optimal experience.

David Kováčik

too bad that second episode is lagging :(

bearuber
>>119863786

seconding this cause I totally get what you mean and it really is :D also even more important before the CA arc

Mia Malvik

The Zoldyck theme sounds exactly like Prokofievs Dance of the Knights and it throws me off every time lol. Ptsd from ballet class. Anyway, Chrollo rizz is crazy

Lily
>>119850020

Secound one, It says 生涯現役(Shogai Geneki) in JP. It means "A person who intends to carry on working and never retire" So "Nevertiree", "Forever in game", "Active for life" is right transltion!

Summer

I wonder if you ever consider posting HH twice a week, like one(2episode) on a weekday and one on Saturday, since you guys swap to daily posts?

ABC
>>119868025

Were you one of the people that reminded teachers about homework in school?

Summer
>>119868025

Lol. I am a mature adult who just asks genuine questions.

r.s.
>>119863786

Agreed. But I think if they watch it then they should do it right after yorknew to give it some time between CA

When do the daily drops start? I don’t think I can wait for the next set 😭😭

Pleaseeee react to some episodes of this arc in 1999, the art style fits the vibes of this arc so well

KURAPIKA IS NOW DROWNING IN AN INDESCRIBABLE EMPTINESS

Kurapika’s red eyes scene in the 1999 version definitely hits different. The atmosphere is so much darker and creepy. Should really check it out. 👌🏻

We are absolutely strapped this week and are gonna have to super scramble to get everything done, so maybe we could but not sure. This week is a struggle already

We definitely would want to move to a model like that, but probably gotta wait until brigs semester is finished

Every week is just so crazy with the balancing 5 different schedules, but hopefully either in the next week or two or worst case, when brig finishes this semester

Kurapika is now drowning in an indescribable emptiness

Nazerke K

Jack recognized the stolen ability of Owl from Shadow Beast in Chrollo’s book👍 I love how strong Nen's ability has its own drawbacks, so you have to strategically think to use your power♠︎

studiogek

Yall.....I gonked. I bought the wrong adapter for our new card so I can't get the FMAB files and im gonna have to do it tomorrow 😓

BennLimos
>>119871760

there's a meme of this when Togashi resurfaced from hiatus it was so funny

BennLimos

Hey guys, new patron here. I'm not a fan of Timothy Chalamet but I just realized he could portrait Chrollo if there ever comes a live action version of HxH. He has the same eye

BennLimos
>>119895409

Imagine the gall of Chrollo to use a technique he just obtained against two Zoldycks?

FURsona

yall needa watch haikyuu fr

rosa_gris

Nonubunga LMAO. Tell me you’re anime noob without telling me you’re an anime noob (jk. Nobunaga is a famous Japanese historical figure that is often referenced in anime.) There’s so many videos to look forward to at the end of the year: OP/ED reactions, character rankings, sub vs dub reactions, now 1999 vs 2011 HxH reactions.

Kimmer

I get to finally watch these. :)

Bri

Naw I laughed so loud when he said Silva is a whale. One of my favorite things about HxH is how when we get these intense fights they turn off the music or minimize it and just leave sound effects. It so impactful and puts you on edge at the drastic change. I love the Zoldyks we won’t kill for nothing and we won’t die for nothing.

Toff

Chrollo fighting them 1v2 while holding back is so crazy

TheHollanLegacy

I really wanna know what it is that was missed bc I'm genuinely curious but I don't wanna have it spoiled for anyone 😭

"fmab on sunday" what other lies have I been told by the council

studiogek
>>119948544

Currently locked away in the prison realm in a new type of storage card that for some reason nowhere sells an adapter for so we had to order it online lol. Itll be here wednesday and then I can get them out

szeth
>>119949144

Lmao all good thanks for pumping out all the content u do 🔥

lololol

btw I think it would be better if you guys react up to episode 58 next week. :)

ABC

Watched this week's reactions like 5 times now, such good episodes. Jack is doing well predicting the story and catching small details, on the other hand, Carter is failing miserably lol.

szeth
>>119949144

someone complimented my pfp but I can't find the comment idk if it was this thread :/ Gonna go to Dragonsteel Convention next month tho and the series is absolute peak

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann

I can't go into detail so I don't spoil you guys anything important, but there's a big cost attached to Kurapika being able to use all nen types at 100%, it's not just plot armor of him being a Kurta, there's more to it. Unfortunely, how Emperor Times truly works is only explained in the manga later on in the story.

rdot

If you guys can squeeze in 5 episodes, then it would be ideal to watch 54-58 together

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann

Also, the reason the Zoldycks didn't kill Chrollo is because the phone rang an instant before Silva threw his ability, so he re-directed it at the last second; the manga and the 99 version do a better job in this episode to make the viewer/reader understand this happened (in the 99 version you can hear the phone ring just before the ability making contact). If Illumi hadn't killed the 10 dons in time, then Silva and Zeno would've definitely killed Chrollo as he would've been hit by Silva's balls (no pun intended), though maybe at the expense of Zeno's life.

Jed

Is ATLA tonight or tomorrow?

Unika Ang

Honestly, the characters in 1999 look much better, especially Kurapika, Chrollo and Machi.

Cookie

Kurapika is now drowning in an indescribable emptiness.

⭐️—_—💧

simple why they didnt both die, they we're both strong. Too strong that a killer intent attack still wasnt enough to kill them.

Michael H

This is really random, but once I noticed it, I couldn’t stop seeing it. In anime there is casual violence, murder, pervy shit, and world-shaking events, but underage drinking just doesn’t happen. A character could be in the middle of an apocalypse, having just returned from killing a dozen people and groping a dozen girls, but he will not touch a drink while still a minor. It’s like an obscure, immutable rule that all anime follow.

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann
>>123754116

Reminds me of how Marvel shows in Netflix would show sex, mutilations, gang violence, drugs, heavy drinking, corruption, organized crime, yet having a character smoking a cigarette was a line they couldn't cross lol. Another thing they never show in shonen manga is sexual intimacy; even romantic kisses are extremely rare.

Nathan Randall
>>123754116

Ive seen some cases of underage drinking in anime... one that I saw recently was in a fairy tail OVA, all the girls get wasted and they were all underage, the youngest being 12, she was shitfaced. Also in detective conan, conan gets wasted on chinese liquor

Nathan Randall

When he says he can't make living copies just "static copies" the word "static" here means they lack any movement
