ITS HERE ITS TIME!!!

I completely agree with Carter because Peak and GOAT imo is overused and it loses it's value! HxH does get peak and goated so super excited for the boys to experience it

Nazerke K

After waiting for this upload, I can finally have a sleep🫠

Jyle

you’ll see carter watch this is peak

UziBby

Brig got that shit on 🥶

Q3rf Neym

What platform are you watching the show on? The subs in the vid at the bottom are different from the ones you're watching. Especially since the Crunchyroll subs (the one in the vid) is very ambiguous when it comes to Pitou but other versions like whatever one is on Tubi refer to Pitou as "he" and have changed dialogue as a whole when it comes to every line. Crunchyroll has the best sub version.

Cant wait to go home and watch this with my handsome 😍

JayPierlis

greatest arc in anime has officially begun....it goes beyond peak. the true goat arc

I think they mentioned the platform but I don't remember, they use Crunchyroll vid because the subs in the other platform are tiny

kosmos99

rewatching just hits different

"Gon you are light" who else sobbed..

ssj4rit

Tbh I don’t believe Kite’s numbers correlate to strength (same thing with the Phantom Troupe numbers) Also 3 was the only time he never said “bad spin”

leah

the scene where pokkle is getting his memories probed literally makes me sick to even think about

ssj4rit

Also Cannon called Pokkle’s death like 60 episodes ago lol

Elijah Slocombe

Shoutout the rookie definition shirt DMITCH

ffltscat

Before this arc got animated I was already binging the manga. I quitted this manga when I saw Kite's death like this because I was very angry and depressed. I feel you 😭

Teddy

Man Kite is a really well made character - he was only introduced to us like a few episodes ago but everyone's so attached to him. And of course these characters always die..

kai

kite was giving pitou the paws, imagine if he didn’t lose his arm

⭐️—_—💧

Okay, Guys! Carter being "Traumatized" staring at the floor in silence for more than 5 minutes is worrying.. . boo, you okay?? Pitou, was trying to attack Gon and Killua to get rid of the two weak ones and focus on Kite (the strong one). Kite prevented that, without both of them there's a 20% chance Kite could've escape. Crazy Slots proly summoned an lucky #8. Also for CANNON there is a real point in this show besides searching for Ging, its a much bigger world than you think! But, this reaction this episode was what I hoped for!

Empyral

what an amazing set of episodes

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann

When Killua ko'ed Gon, you can actually see his aura focused on both his fists. That tells you he wasn't lying when he said he didn't hold back, like at all.

Nazerke K

36:34 - the best reactions from our guys😆

I'm Literally Shinei Nouzen

Pitou's power is the culmination of thousands of humans being eaten by the Queen. All of that aura potential leads to the monster that she is, as well as her chimera ant durability and strength. The same goes for the other royal guards and the King. On top of that, Pokkle, a decent nen user, has now been fed to the Queen to further fuel the Queen's hunger while birthing the King. RIP the world.

Marlon

This gon slander.... hell nah

Keiji

Where is Ging? This is beneath Ging.

Jem de Jager

Only the the KING deserves PEAK. so this was just filler

JayPierlis

also yall pitou is a girl. yall just got weird subtitles ig. crunchyroll says she/her i think . in the manga pitou is more androgynous but the anime retconned and made pitou an obvious female. thts why there are weird gender translations for pitou bc some translations want to stay true to manga but trust me anime pitou is a girl yall are good calling her she/her.

Marlon

Not sure where are you getting the idea that Chrolo isnt strong, he handled Zeno and Silva and wasnt even trying to kill, you haven't seen him at his best and with killing intent against a powerful enemy

⭐️—_—💧
>>124714639

It's actually a trick, the condition was for him not to pick the number but a random roll instead. His trying to trick his own power "Crazy Slots" and say "Bad Spin" when it's actually the "Perfect Spin". He needed to say "Bad Spin" every time so he can get the "Perfect Spin", these is shown in all of his fights he says bad spin but in reality his just tricking the clown crazy slot to think that his getting a bad one.

Kite

y'all like my new pfp?

Frizen

Pitou is technically just an it. Don't know why the subs you're watching said he/him. Saying She/It is more accurate.

Q3rf Neym
>>124716700

Crunchyroll subs are better. That's the footage that is in the edit at the bottom, but they are watching different subs on another platform for some reason. Worse translation.

kiiturii

Pitou is so sick

Saidah

Gon is a very straightforward person, it’s purposeful that he wears his emotions on his sleeves and he doesn’t have much to hide. He’s a kid. He’s not as developed as Killua is because Killua has been through more and is just far more mature because of his childhood forcing him into maturity. Whilst Gon had a pretty standard childhood. I think what I enjoy most about the writing of his character is his unpredictability. You think he’ll do something kind or selfless and then all a sudden he reacts brash, SELFISH, and sometimes borderline unhinged. Then you remember “oh shit he’s a 12 year old” AND a 12 year old experiencing the darker side of life for the first time at that. At that age morality is underdeveloped, in fact I feel like the reason Gon is the main protagonist is because we are seeing him create the layers the trauma and the “depth” that he lacked before hand, living on whale island. Right now all he has to go on (as most young children do) are their wants, interests and his already pre-instilled good nature. He has very little experience as most of his life was fairly sheltered. Which is why I feel we always hear Killuas thoughts rather than Gons. The audience is used to consuming a protagonist that can see a situation for what it is because of their experience, which Killua has plenty of that. Gon on the other hand is seeing everything for the first time, trying to make sense of the world through his very narrow lens. If we listened to Gons thoughts during that moment kite was attacked the audience would be less understanding of what’s going on, while with Killua narrating we will always be on board. Tbh idk if this made any sense but like yea I just wanted to explain why I love Gon so much since a big critic for his character is often lack of depth. This is just how I see him at least.

Empyral

you guys should watch on crunchyroll the subs are way better

Kelli Atkins

Carter is me at the end of this episode 😂😂

Kelli Atkins

I agree with Carter tho Killua is my fav by a long shot

kiiturii

Pitou is basically gender-ambiguous, some say Pitou is male in the manga and female in the anime but I don't think anything like that has been confirmed, the thing that makes this so confusing is that Japanese doesn't use pronouns the same way so when translating they had to decide on something. The canon idea is that she's just an ant that was literally born with clothes so no one knows her gender. The other ants use "kare" (which is masculine) to refer to them, probably because he's a kings guard, or maybe they don't even have any idea what gender is so they don't care lol tl;dr use whatever pronoun makes the most sense to you it doesn't really matter

ssj4rit
>>124714639

That’s an interesting theory, but he says bad spin after the number is already chosen so idk how that would help him… Most people theorize he says bad spin because the weapon is inconvenient - like the Scythe, he explains he can’t get rid of it unless he uses it + he can only use for a huge sweeping motion. Or because he doesn’t like to kill.

ssj4rit
>>124714639

I guess your point is he says bad spin every time so that eventually the clown will give him the best weapon for a situation when he truly requires it? Basically stacking “bad fortune” to eventually get a “good fortune” roll. That’s a possible theory too ig

Empyral

more tonight?

Dia Nguyen

gon has depth tho, i just feel like it’s not as noticeable as killua’s. i would recommend watching some analysis videos about him if you’re interested, he’s a pretty cool character once you understand his development & his goals (besides finding ging). i would recommend Aleczandxr’s videos on youtube, but yeah i understand why killua is your fav, he’s extremely likable

Ninaly

great discussion, i can feel you guys getting increasingly invested. edit: also you guys can just refer to pitou as a girl, it was up in the air in the manga but i believe the anime decided to adapt her much more feminine with several choices they made. so for the adapation it wouldnt be inaccurate to just say she/her

ssj4rit
>>124717922

I predict we will get more in 1 hour, 4 minutes and 39 seconds (2:04:53 EST)

Sam M

I get it cause it can be tough to pick up on the first watch but there's actually quite a bit of depth to Gons character that often goes overlooked. It's mostly conveyed subtly or through subtext and the show does not usually linger on or highlight it. For example when he chose not to hear more info about his mom, or his justification as to why he wanted to be a hunter. What I think makes him interesting isn't even so much the choices he makes, but his reasoning behind the choices as well as his world view and sense of morality that's fascinating.

Joydan Bri’an

killua really deserves the best 🥺 he holds gon in such high regard (too much imo) like i love gon but with every rewatch i just wanna smack him and tell him he should value killua more. idk that’s just me

Sam M
>>124718051

Though still, I agree about Killua and he's my favorite too but it's extremely close.

Joydan Bri’an
>>124718291

side note, when i was a kid i had a crush on morel and a character that’s coming up lmaoooo its the big buff guys with a cocky attitude that does something for me ig

Philbo
>>124718051

its funny i was literally just saying that gon actually has quite a bit of depth to his character that is just overlooked alot through the anime but definitely picked up on the rewatch which made Gon is my favorite character

Philbo

Also when it comes to Pitou, She is a female but they say "He" in the anime because she is technically Genderless due to being a Chimera Ant but EVERYONE who watches this anime knows thats female lol

Philbo

Also the take saying that Gon is really predictable and Killua isnt predictable is kind of a bad take to me. you literally have NO IDEA what Gon is gonna do in any situation as with killua, you kinda know how he is going to handle each situation because thats how is trained i mean think about how all his fights go. the only time killua was unpredictable was when he brought out the yoyo's

Bandit

3 Things: I started watching hxh because I was going through stuff and needed a distraction. But when Hxh makes you MORE depressed, suddenly everything in my life seemed happier compared to finishing the show and this arc. So techincally, hxh saved me and it seriously holds a place in my heart, Second, I also accidentally skipped Kite's death reveal haha so I didn't find out he was actually dead until it was confirmed WAYY LATER so I was just as shocked as the anime reaction. So for the most part, I believed Gon when he said he was alive in this episode :( Third, I believe Togashi made Gon a little bland but the ideal son/main character on purpose so we can enjoy the depth of his surrounding friends and villians even more. In a story, there's an artistic element with emphasizing the reaction and impact the main character has made by giving time and development to everything else. --hence Kurapika's own episodes, Killua's, the Phantom Troupe's and now the Ants. But of course, it's balanced enough that we still root for Gon and like following his adventure.

SoClose

People here are really white knightiing for Gon. As if they've already finished this arc knowing the things we all already know. Shhh....Let them have their preconceptions.

rosa_gris
>>124718051

Gon is a deceptively simple character with complex implications. That’s what I love about him.

Ale

Understandable that someone would translate Pitou's pronouns as he/him because that's how Pitou refers to itself, using masculine pronouns. Pitou's gender is ambiguous in the manga, but anime made it a little bit more clear that it's female, so she/her is technically not wrong either!! Great discussion at the end, when you guys were talking about characters for some reason I thought about you guys watching DragonBall and then Jack mentioned it lol I agree with Brig and McKay, re-watch is going crazy rn PD I just love that Cannon hates the "Nyaruhodou" or Meow I see 😂

Cookie

his arm is ineed...gon

DerekSniper30

Had the JJK depression now we're in the HxH depression lol It'll get better.

nans

gon and killua are such a deeply entwined duo that trying to imagine any scenario where one is without the other just feels so wrong. even trying to pick one over the other is hard, but I think that’s part of the beauty of the show, where you truly are as equally invested in their relationship as you are in them individually. ugh the love for them is overwhelming

Laura 🦋

“what about Puto” 😂😂😭 i love it

Arallius

The Gon slander was CRAZY

⭐️—_—💧
>>124714639

Yea' something like that just not the stacking part. But, that could also be a theory. My point is the condition for his slot is not to be able to pick it by choice but intead summons a random powerful weapon. In the current fight the weapon is already summoned says "bad roll", into the next fight he will also say "bad roll". There is no such thing as "bad roll", this is only said so he could trick the clown into thingking he gave him a bad one but in reality its actually the right one. IF Kite said, its a "Good roll" then whats the point of rolling it randomly. Kite is already getting Good Rolls' his just tricking his Nen condition which is the "the clown" making him think that his aggitated and annoyed by not getting the right weapon. When in reality it is the weapon that is perfectly match to every fight. His powers are complicated like Chrollo, but Chrollo i think is much more painful brain killer nen user during that fight with Hisoka I almost gave up studying Nen.

Kyosuke Kagami

BROS PLEASE 2 EP DROPS ARE NOT ENOUGH FOR CHIMERA ANT ARC I WON'T MAKE IT

Gon Freaky
>>124718843

I think Gon’s unpredictability is clearer looking back on the show. Killua experiences a lot of character development in this arc.

Jed

Rip the GOAT Kite😤 He became my favorite character in so few episodes, its wild how dope that man is. The rewatch of this show really does go crazy tho😳

sean cress

can we get like 20 episodes per drop

Philbo
>>124718843

Killua’s character development is so amazing to me especially where he was at the start of the show to where we are now and even further this arc.. Oh definitely I agree with that lol I mean damn near this entire show is different on the rewatch 😂 you look at almost all the characters in a different light

Jed

Gon is roaring for a fight😤😤

ssj4rit
>>124719878

As sad as it is it took 8 years for the arc to finish in the manga, we can survive compared to those brave soldiers back then 😔

The next two will be posted tomorrow! Sorry, normally they would all be posted the same day but with the holidays its a bit crazy at the moment

corLeonis

This arc is what Gon needs. He always sees the good in people but this time, he needs to learn that there are pure evil in this world. I love how the characters are written! Dangggggg what excites me the most is your reaction to the next episodes especially when......... ahhhh i dont want to spoil anything but let me just say... RELATIONSHIPS ARE IMPORTANT

thegoodzz

For anyone wondering why the lion is the king.. they have a mane covering their weak spot but most importantly they have a bunch of females following them around that do most of the hunting for them who they can mate with whenever. They're the head of their packs, real king shit. Tigers live in solitude

Jengit

Ever since the dodgeball game I have not been a fan of Gon anymore. I agree with Carter, that Gon is very predictable. I feelk like Gon had a lot of power ups but there has not really been any character development. Love the pair tho and my favourite is definitely Killua

Frozzen Edge

i think gon and kirua are both 14 at this point of the show

aubrey !!

i agree with carter tbh. i understand that gon is only a kid but he is incredibly selfish, esepcially when it comes to his friendship with killua. killua loves him so much and sometimes it js feels like gon doesnt really appreciate him enough. also, gon has no regard for others around him or himself. he doesn't think ab the consequences.

aubrey !!

also kite was such a lovable character and its only natural to be upset about it. so easy to get attached with so little time smh.

Ramennn

one of my favorite scenes! Yes, somehow, Gon shows his selfishness by not thinking of what could've happened if he attacked Pitou. But we both know that if something unexpected happened, we do things impulsively (sometimes). Tho both changes in a different way, I still love the duo equally. <3

Milly Lin

where is the next 2 episodes?

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann
>>124719078

You're right, Togashi actually confirmed he purposefully wrote Gon to be a "simple" character in order to give the support cast more depth and in that way giving himself more freedom to explore the story any way he wants it at any given time. That said, the Chimera Arc is precisely the arc in which Gon's personality and traits are deconstructed (in Togashi's own words), so we can actually explore his character in more depth than in previous seasons.

Northyee
>>124716700

yeah it's confusing when they react to different subtitles than what we're seeing 😂

Ramennn

I agree with Cannon! One of the best duo in the anime. <3

Izaya

the single best sequence of episodes of the series for me is 134 and 135. Make sure to watch them together. a good advice is to watch 134,135 together and finish with 136. Make sure not to separate these episodes in two sittings.

Michael H

Togashi actually deliberately made Gon a plain and simple protagonist because he wanted the side characters to shine in this series. So, Togashi would probably agree with Carter completely lol

Izaya

GOAT, PEAK, and MASTERPIECE are three more overused words ever in the anime community. The moment you call the likes of Demon Slayer a MASTERPIECE this word just lost all its credibility. These words cant be used for personal judgements, otherwise everything is peak and everyone is a GOAT depending on who is saying... a masterpiece needs to have a valid reason and not just: "oh i love this show so i'll call it masterpiece". unfortunately we cant trust the anime community with that

bearuber
>>124718012

i second this! that they watch that video to break down gon's character

icynub

Yeah same I stopped watching hxh after this ep I dunno if it’s about kite or the training but I couldn’t do it right away

Nonos

This is so off topic but now that there is remake of the One piece anime coming to Netflix by wit studio it’s inevitable that studio gek start it. Lmaoo there’s the one piece live action action, a new one piece anime, and hype from final saga, studio gek can’t escape the story of one piece for long 💀

Izaya

And just to clarify, there was nowhere saying or alluding that Kite's slots numbers have anything to do with their strength. There is literally no evidence supporting that assumption, specially after you see a Scythe (2) be more destructive then the gun (4). and for once, when he rolled the 3, it was the only time he didn't say it was a bad roll (though i believe they are all bad rolls, as i think it has something to do with the conditions he set.) Sorry for the sequence of long comments

Robert

I can promise you … the rewatch of this arc is better than the first watch. McKay and Brigg are eating good!!

Anabell Gibby

This is super off topic and I feel I'll probably get some hate for this but I'd love to see you all react to MHA/BNHA. It wasn't my first but was one of the few I watched early into my anime journey and the action scenes have usually kept me on the edge of my seat with anticipation or adrenaline, however you want to see it and I genuinely think you'd all love not only the action but the plot. Obviously if it's not something you guys wanna watch then so be it, I won't force or be overbearing. Consideration is all I ask for. To those of you who hate or think MHA is overrated then that's you're opinion, I'm not trying to start any fights just stating how I feel. Thank you for the time you took to read this, I really appreciate it! ☺️

Anabell Gibby

I'd also like to add how much I love all your reactions, been here since 13 hrs after the very first upload of ANIME HATERS react to AOT on youtube. I never thought I'd pay people to watch stuff I love but I just can't seem to get enough of your content. I'm always super excited for when you post next, I've even started watching anime's I never even considered because of you all, though there are a few I still refuse to watch. I just wanted to let you all know how grateful I am for your content and that I hope you're enjoying your anime experience! Your Aussie supporters appreciate you guys heaps! 💗🇦🇺

Anabell Gibby
>>124739954

I agree that they probably won't react to banana fish anytime soon but they could probably years from now, who knows. I definitely feel MHA has more of a chance to be reacted to earlier. I just wish more people would give it a chance but after the fandom started getting backlash cause of the weird crap it's done people are put off from the anime. I just don't understand how they could choose to make an opinion off of a show they don't really know all because of a fandom. I made the choice to exclude myself from the fandom and thoroughly enjoy the show without any weirdness but then again sometimes I accidentally fall into it and meet pretty awesome people. I always been one on not judging a book by it's cover so I've always tried things even though I don't really want too or people have said it's shit. Like the big 3 for example, I don't hate the animes I just don't have enough time or motivation to get through them. I even struggled getting through this arc of hxh cause it felt a little dragged out. But! I've watched studio geks big three thingy, forgot what it was called and I've watched a fair amount of bleach with my brother, not necessarily on purpose but because I was out there while he was watching it so idk. If people don't like it then so be it ya know, but I hate how they immediately go to bashing it without giving it a chance.

Shiro

Episode 85 is the first of the many pivotal and amazing episodes in this arc, and shows the power disparity of the ants and the level of their threat to all of us. Neferpitou's birth was such a game changer, and her timing of hatching changed everything. Up until her birth, we can assume that Kite was the strongest Nen user in the region, and even with Rammot and Colt forcefully awakening their Nen through the brute force method, Kite would still have been stronger than them (I think!). However, the moment Pitou is born, that changes as her raw power is far superior than any we have seen. She is such a clutch factor for the ants and the queen, who were in danger from the hunters finding their nest and destroying it. Moments after she is born, she does an exemplary job of threat detection, threat assessment and threat termination, truly the embodiment of the Royal Guard protecting the queen and the future king. The direction of the episode, the music, the ambience, voice acting is so well done, and the speed of the attack leaves us so confused and unprepared for the level of threat we are facing, loved it!

Also, Carter's take on Kite's death vs. Gon's death was wild...the gobsmacked reactions of the other four were the same as mine 😂I think Carter likes complex characters based on his reactions, and Gon may seem quite simplistic by comparison (the classic shounen protagonist)! I love Gon and Killua both, but especially their dynamic as they are such a great duo and complement each other so well!! I am just looking forward to Carter's reaction to the rest of the arc as what Togashi does with his story and his characters is so amazing, and yet seems in line with the characters' inherent nature. I hope you enjoy the journey!

See how differently Gon and Killua reacted to Kite's arm being severed and then Pitou's aura. Its just little stuff man I love togashi so much it only gets better from here

its actually a boy in the manga, many like to say its a girl in the anime but they never actually call them such, otherwise its just they/them and instance of male pronouns.

It was a fair criticism, though. I love Tolkien and I read the whole LOTR trilogy, the Hobbit, The Silmarillion, etc., but it's not like he was perfect and made no mistakes whatsoever. The whole retaking the shire plot definitely wasn't integral to the plot, like at all. The world was saved, character development had already peaked, the main plot line was already resolved, we could've been told Saruman killed himself at that point and we wouldn't have cared much.

I see your point, but agree to disagree I guess! The chapter wasn't important to the main plot like you said, but I personally felt it was important in different ways like highlighting the fact that there was still evil in the world that would have to be fought against in different ways. Lotr is about a lot more than just defeating Sauron. I also just like the hobbits fighting for themselves lol. I do think that keeping it out of the movie was a good choice though, but not because it was pointless. The pacing would've been weird like Cannon said

Matthew Houston

For Cannon: it’s not that Bisky is being undervalued, but they’ve only observed her in a controlled environment - one of nurturing and tutelage. What they’re saying is this is the first time they’ve observed a hunter they can admire in the trenches, really doing their thing As for jacks comment on the license: he’s right - it’s a 2 star (only confirming because Ging’s standing in that regard has already been clarified and the information on the license is never further implied)

When your man says “I love you”, but Killua said “You are light. Sometimes you shine so bright, I must look away. But even so, is it still okay if I stay by your side?” 😔

For real though, loved the post-episode discussion! Both agree and disagree with a lot of what Carter was saying, and the rest of the guys. I think Killua and Gon have such an amazing and fascinating friendship, and it is completely genius writing by Togashi. Same as Carter though, I personally like Killua a lot more than any other HxH character, and the first time I watched the show I struggled to really connect with or understand Gon. I didn’t really relate to his simplicity or childishness, but really connected with Killua and his growth from a dark and difficult background to become a better person and friend to Gon. But through rewatching and analysing, I’ve started to really appreciate, at least analytically and in terms of story-beats and characterisation, how interesting Gon is as a character. And how the two of them together work incredibly well in the overall story. I’m so excited for you guys to see where their characters develop and end up!

I think Carter’s take on Gon is completely fair

I've seen quite a number of reaction channels understandably pausing their uploads after seeing this episode. It is quite traumatic to see the last few seconds of it. Can you imagine being a lot younger and seeing this show and Kite as someone really cool and inspiring only to be killed like that. I guess that explains our trauma from this episode.

It's crazy how many details I could pick out from watching JJK that I know Gege scooped from Hxh.

Honestly I didn't see Kite's death coming until his arm was cut off when I first watched

Sasha

Why Jack and Cannon say it's not their fault. Of course it's their fault. Carter is right.

Sasha

Rewatch really is crazy. Seeing Mckay's reaction in this episode I now know for certain what was the moment he had to pause the show for two months or something.

Sasha

Carter is right about Gon dying and Killua also. Carter is cooking in this episode.
