This was a really fun thing Me Cannon Jack and Mckay did in 2022 before we created the channel where we had over 50 movies we all ranked, and we decided to do it with this years entries! Some of us had 1 or 2 shows that we had watched off camera which we will explain in this video. 2023 has been incredible and we have big plans for 2024!

Comment your thoughts on our takes👀

I like how the diverse the rankings are, shows the different personalities sitting on the couch. Love this type of videos. I was expecting everyone's No.1 to be AOT but I do get where Brig and Mckay are coming from. Naruto might not be the best show ever made but the highs are very high. Seeing Carter get roasted from the comments is so funny cause his rankings are definitely the wildest. I think Cannon has the safest ranking among the boys and if I have the same list of shows, my rankings would resemble with Jack the most due to the alot of them are really S tier.

BigManSirob

My Personal Ranking of the Shows in this Video: S-Tier: 1) FMAB - Such an incredible show that just keeps getting better and better, I think it may have the most satisfying conclusion in all of anime, and it just makes me care about the characters so much (sub is definitely better but dub is still fine) 2) Vinland Saga - Basically that the Geks said + I really love historical stuff like this + overall it probably has my favourite OPs and EDs + I read the manga after season 2 finished and that chapter (iykyk) made me cry sooo hard 3) Hunter X Hunter - To be completely honest I HATED the first couple arcs and eventhough it got better after that I would still only have put it at an 8/10 by around episode 110 but holy... the last 40 episodes went sooooo crazy the glow up was INSANE, episodes 111-136 are like the original (and better imo) version of the Shibuya arc (I cried multiple times ngl) + the manga has also been very interesting so far (albeit extemely complicated and kind of confusing at times) 4) Attack on Titan - I agree with everything said + it was my first anime (debated whether to put this in third instead of HxH) 5) Cyberpunk Edgerunners - Agree with everything said again, objectively it might be around number 3 but emotionally this feels like the right placement, could have been higher placed if it was longer A-Tier: 6) Jujutsu Kaisen - Still great just hasn't made me as emotional as the S-Tier shows, spotty pacing is probably its biggest weakness (I've read the Manga btw) 7) Invincible - Very interested and excited to see where it goes 8) Death Note B-Tier: 9) Chainsaw Man - Read the manga after the anime and it kind of disappointed me tbh, its biggest strength has to be the ideas/creativity which are super unique and cool but the pacing is horrendously fast, I just couldn't bring myself to care all that much about most of the characters in such a short amount of time and the ending was super abrupt and still makes no sense to me to this day, if it was slower paced and the plot points were more spread out then it could have been at least JJK level but overall it's still good just not anywhere near as incredible as all the hype says it is 10) Last of Us - I've only seen the first 5 episodes but I remember I enjoyed it, should probably finish it eventually C-Tier: NOTHING F-Tier: 11) Demon Slayer - Dropped it after 10 episodes because I was so bored, it just didn't get any better Haven't Watched: ATLA Tokyo Ghoul Naruto One Piece

MistyKahn

I totally understand where Brigg and McKay are coming from with Naruto...there is just something about that show for me personally that is number one in my heart. I have watched and loved a lot of other awesome anime, but Naruto has a hold on my heart for my favorite show. Just the emotions and nostalgia have a grip on me that won't go away.

Pavlo

"i love the serious shows where people die" Mckay we can tell 😭

Jack McKee

carter you hurt my soul man.

Jack McKee

How can you watch yorknew and not think the characters have depth??

Jack McKee

I troll in the comments but fr love you guys this was a great vid

Schwifty_Ant

I will say HxH is an anime that lowkey takes more than one watch to truly appreciate it. I’ve honestly rewatched the whole show 5 or 6 times and I love it more each and every time

CHIEF

Love this idea, we don't really get a sense of how the shows stack up in your minds without it and it's great to see which gripes you all have and how you disagree. A few general takes for me are that S3 of DS was a definite step back from the last few, even if it's still not a bad show, it's okay to criticize things you like. I had TLOU game at a 9.5ish, but the show was just a (little) worse but in every scene so it was frustrating for me personally, evens out to about a 7.5, still good. And I don't think this is any single show's issue, I've seen it in a few this year, but I'm getting tired of shows going non-linear for seemingly no reason. Like I said it's more than one, but the more I think about AoT the more I feel like it's utterly unnecessary to jump ahead and then drip feed past events. It's such a puzzling decision I just can't see how it actively benefits the story, so why bother? Overall I really don't think you guys have watched any BAD shows, so any gripes shouldn't be seen as ragging on a show because none of them are perfect either, naturally.

The fact that Carter thinks that the characters of hxh are not very deep... But I tell myself that with the rest of the arc you will perhaps (I hope) realize the depth of the characters . Because this is the part where we will reach the peak of the evolution of the characters emotionally and mentally speaking. But in reality I myself had not managed to realize all the depth and complexity of the characters and the story during my first viewing. It is thanks to the videos of "aleczandxr" that I was able to better understand and become aware of the depth and complexity of the story and these characters. When you have finished hxh I strongly advise you to watch all his analysis videos, (Brig if you have time to watch them!) he analyzes extremely well, it's crazy. To tell you, already that without having understood everything hxh was my number 1, but thanks to these videos it made me love hxh 100 times more!

Jack McKee

Also Hunter x Hunter has the greatest antagonist ever created

Jack McKee

For the anime mentioned here my personal order is 1. AOT 2. HXH 3. Naruto 4. Vinland Saga 5. Cyberpunk 6. Death Note 7. FMA 8. JJK 9. CSM 10. Demon Slayer (I love FMA and I really should rewatch but it was kind of a slow burn for me and final antagonist is kind of a let down)

Nazerke K

My TOP 3 after watching about 80 anime: 1. HxH 2.AOT 3. Psycho-Pass

ElBee

I notice you guys all talk about the music in a lot of these shows… I think you should give Made in Abyss a chance, Kevin Penkin wrote the score for this show and it’s my all time favourite (I think even more so than AOT and Vinland Saga).

Marlon

Shippuden better than part one is a crazy take

Nazerke K

Great and interesting discussion, guys. I would like to know your TOP 10 anime characters in the future 🙌🏻

Sav

Hi Mel! Hi Ster! Hi Afro!

Lukash

It made me so happy to hear Naruto in first place twice. Especially when Brig said he watched it first time this year, so hype. If Studio Gek is going to react to it, I dont think they announced the show yet, its going to be my 8th re-watch. It is by far my favorite show. Also, HxH is dead last on my list.

Murasaki

Ah yeah the voice acting in CA arc of HxH is God Tier. Glad McKay brings it up.

Miitei

Amazing video, hearing Jack was already a w, but I liked everyone's top, I guess what I like is hearing you guys being straight forward with your opinions and talk a little bit more about what you like or didn't like about certain shows. For Cannon, whenever you feel ready to read manga, since you say that you enjoy having a mystery unfolding on the story, I recommend the best manga I have read like that it's "20th Century Boys" If I were to do a top with some animes that I saw this 2023 I think I'll have 1. Vinland Saga 2. AOT 3. FMAB 4. March comes in like a Lion 5. Mob Psycho 100 6. Jujutsu Kaisen 7. Jojo's 8. Blue Lock (surprisingly) 9. Dr. Stone 10. Kaguya Sama love is war Honorable mention to My Hero Academia!

Watch One Piece

Out of the anime you guys mentioned, here is my list: 1. One Piece Huge Gap 2. Chainsaw man (but only because I read the manga, otherwise it would be like 5 or 6) 3. Naruto 4. HxH 5. AOT 6. Vinland Then everything else.

Murasaki

I have a problem with JJK’s higher ranking than HxH by Carter. So, you think JJK has a more solid story and more in-depth characters? 🤨JJK is basically copying and mixing various creative elements from HxH Bleach and Naruto, adding a little character backstories and emotions then just fighting fighting fighting. The writer randomly makes characters die and then reborn and then die just to creat hypes. The animation contributes to most of the success of this series imo.

Mysterious Figure

When Brig and McKay started talking about Naruto with so much emotion all my memories came back from so many years ago I got teary eyed. I watched that show as it was airing. The rewatch with you guys is going to be insane. Altho I still cant believe you skipped one of the best shows of 2023 - Blue Eye Samurai. Its on the level of Arcane.

Bryce

VINLAND SUPREMACY!!! Couldn’t agree more with the fellas on the left, AOT is the goat of all goats, but Vinland just makes you feel man and that is such an awesome thing - especially in the world of anime where it feels like cool fights reign supreme sometimes. Not a bad thing at all btw, just such an inspiring and unique story.

Riley

Hunter x Hunter and Vinland Saga are my favorite anime. I understand the appeal of Attack on Titan, but in my opinion, it is overrated. I don’t think it’s bad, because it’s not, it’s just not as incredible of a show as people make it out to be.

MissJodles

My advice to McKay (and the others if they want) is please read the Tokyo Ghoul manga instead! The art by Sui Ishida is absolutely some of the BEST and most beautiful art out there, completely top tier. The anime, although I personally enjoyed it, does not hold a candle to the manga at all and changed a lot of things; a remake anime is something fans have been asking for for a long time!

MissJodles

And my ranking of your guys shows would be 1. FMAB 2. AoT 3. Naruto 4. HxH 5. Death Note 6. JJK 7. Demon Slayer 8. CSM (I haven’t seen Vinland and others yet) Also Carter saying the characters in HxH aren’t that deep PAINED me lol, just you wait !!!

Mattchu

I love that you guys put so much work into the channel and show how much you care, and your show selections are the best they can be I look forward to next year🔥

Slizzle

I am not some big stan of anime but aot is my all time favorite story in fiction, its my baby lol, so it also being some of the guys’s favorite makes me really happy

teagan

haha i binged the whole of jjk season 1 too on the plane back from japan

GreetswithJudgement

I watch a lot of anime. A lot! AOT is difficult to defeat. It doesn’t need to be defended and it needs no introduction. It is the GOAT of anime. IMO, the GOAT of fiction, right up there with LOTR trilogy!

Taylor Corbett

C is definitely a 50%. Legit in the middle of all the rankings. A C academically shouldn't be compared to a tier list

kiiturii

I need ya'll to watch steins;gate just because it would be so perfect for Carter especially lol

Adri

tokyo ghoul anime doesn’t do it justice😓 the manga is so good

Wulfheart

Really enjoyed this year with y'all! A lot of great memories and media consumed. I agree AoT is such a special show and I'm glad it kick started this amazing ride we're on! To a Happy New Year and many more to come!

kiiturii

my goats from this year were 1: aot ending (rewatched the whole show thrice too lol) 2: Oshi no ko 3: march comes in like a lion

Vlad Blue

Based off the list they provided, because I have a lot of advanced knowledge cause I’ve either seen it or read the manga, starts with JJK, Demon Slayer, Avatar, FMAB, HxH. The bottom five are A.O.T, Chainsaw Man, Naruto (anime only), Tokyo Ghoul (anime only), Cyber Punk. Those are in no particular order. Just cause I list it first means nothing that’s just the order I remembered them in. I haven’t seen Death Note in years so I didn’t consider it as I don’t even remember how old I was when I first watched Death Note. Also I did not consider Vinland Saga as I haven’t seen it. The only reason Tokyo Ghoul anime only so low is cause they did not do a good job with the anime in my opinion. As for Naruto anime only being so low is wholly because of all the irrelevant filler crap. It got so bad that I had to stop watching until they got back to the story. There is just so much filler in that show. If it weren’t for those things they would probably be in the middle cause the manga for those shows are good.

Michael Corleone

We need to get these guys to watch Fate/Zero ngl

Quintex

Should watch fate ngl

Mitosdomain

Yea I understand when you call naruto more meaningful. Kishimoto fleshes out characters and bonds so insanely well. I'm emotional every few episodes that show just hits deep. Lmao also if you guys watch Fate Zero I'd be SEATED😭

Bryce Jones

My top for the year were Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 and Vinland Saga Season 2. They had the most engaging stories and characters this year imo. Special nod to AOT but breaking it up and there being so much time in-between made it ending less special and emotional for me.

Sasha (Mr. Prince is my bias)

I have watched over 100 episodes of Naruto and have no idea who it could be better than AOT or Farmland. But I think quite alike with the left side of the couch and Carter for top three. Can't wait to see Farmland next season.

giselle

you guys should react to your reactions 😭💀

ryan

i actually cant wait for you guys to start watching naruto

Blake

1. One Piece

Mohammad Zaidi

I watched cyberpunk because of your guys’ tier list and am so happy I did. I probably would’ve never seen it if it weren’t for you guys, it deserves its spot on everyone’s list!

Mohammad Zaidi

Im coming back to this video pretty late but if u see this given you guys enjoyed cyberpunk edge runners I think you’ll like Megalo box. It’s only 12 episodes and gives off a similar vibe. And while I’d love to see your reaction to it, it’s definitely still worth enjoying off screen.

KL

Naruto is my biased GOAT, Death Note is one of my objective GOATs along with Code Geass, Game of Thrones is my TV show GOAT, and LOTR is my movie trilogy GOAT. 👍
