I believe Viserys road Balerion the Black Dread (largest known dragon) before Balerion died and then didn't bond with another dragon after that which makes sense because riding another dragon after that would be a downgrade lol

I think Daemon just took a very huge risk and it paid off in the end. They were deciding on who to send in since it's a suicide job and when the king sent help, Daemon's pride gave in and rather than accepting the help, he chose to risk his life to win the war.

if yall are intrigued by the politics of this show, game of thrones will truly give you spectacle after spectacle. the political scenes in game of thrones, coupled with the amazing dialogue, is so so good. plus the shade throwing is also hilarious too

Not sure if this has been said or not, but Caraxes' (Daemon's dragon) nickname is "The Bloodwyrm" because of his snake-like body shape. Which makes him even cooler if that's possible.

I like the symbolism of how king Viserys and Alicent's whole relationship was built in a large room next to pretty much a glorified sandcastle... nice foreshadowing in plain sight. GRR Martin has so many nice touches like that throughout his story.

You guys were wondering who Otto was talking to at the beginning of the episode - it's his older brother, Hobert. Hobert's the lord of their House, Otto's a second son. That's another reason he's such a social climber/is pressing Aegon's claim, it's his way for him and his family to rise.

daemon was so pissed about the king sending support because he's been fighting this fight for three years only because the king refused to for so long. Then now, after 3 damn years he finally decides to send in support and basically grab credit just like that. It would look terrible on Daemon. That's why he went on this suicide mission as a "it ends now or this is where I die" kinda deal, the reason the war hadn't ended was because they couldn't draw the crab feeders out of their caves and this dirty surrender trick must've been a complete last resort, probably something so disgraceful it had never even been brought up as a true plan, only something Daemon would do in a desperate situation like this

okay but this episode just proves how much of a rat otto is. he was literally one of, if not the only one who suggested rhaenyra to be heir. which lord strong pointed out would subject the realm to even more chaos then just letting daemon remain heir and waiting for the king to remarry WHICH THEY ALL KNEW HE HAD TO DO. so in an effort to isolate the king from his brother, who could see through otto’s bs, he suggested a female heir knowing it would throw the realm into chaos, AND THEN harps about how unspeakable it is for her to remain now that his grandson has been born. and he set all this up in literally the first ep tl;dr: if otto has 0 haters, IM LITERALLY DEAD

Jack and McKay, I was also confused as to why Daemon was touching the crab feeder. The most popular theories are that Targaryen's are immune to grayscale, or that the crab feeder's grayscale was somehow dormant and/or stopped, like someone else you know. There may also be different stages, so it is possible that he was not infectious at this point.

You have to be bonded with your dragon to ride it so yes Daemon and Caraxes are bonded and Caraxes can feel what Daemon feels. It's also one of the reasons that Caraxes came in ep 2 without Daemon even needing to summon him.

Targaryens are bonded to their dragons, and can feel whatever their rider is feeling—anger, sadness, pain, etc. it’s pretty cool. a Targaryen can also only bond to one dragon in their lifetime which is why Viserys can’t ride another dragon. contrary to Targaryens a dragon can have multiple riders throughout their lifetime. Viserys’ dragon, Balerion, was bonded to Aegon the conqueror before he was bonded to Viserys. Aegon the conqueror brought Balerion over from Valryia (Targaryens ancestral region) and conquered the seven kingdoms (where HOTD currently takes place) with him. he’s also who Viserys’ son is named after. hopefully this helps!

Ps. Typically Targaryen’s marry within the bloodline in order to keep the bond with dragons. Dragons and Targaryens are created with blood magic so you have to have a certain amount of dragon blood to bond with a dragon. Viserys/Daemon, Both their grandparents and parents were brother and sister. So the new dragonrider has dragon blood through his mother. Her father’s parents were brother and sister.

I'm not a fan of them using the Game of Thrones Main Title for HoTD. It feels strange to me. It's not the same show, why should it have the same intro music? I would've much preferred getting a new Main Title for HoTD from Djawadi. For me, this track IS GoT, nothing else.
