Penelopes new ears (Patreon)

SO Since I plan to go thru with this I thought I tell ya guys what my Plans are. Atm Penelope belongs to the Closed Species of JunkYardRabbit, I bought her as a custom design back in 2014. After 10 years, now I really wanna get her out of that Closed Species.I thought about this for at least 2-3 years and now I'm going through with it.I dont wanna start any drama but I need to move on and keep going with my branding and ideas. I already started flashing out the "Orcadragon" species for my Universe so I can finally give Penelope a family, and lore that fits. Penelope has been my most liked OC for years now and changing her drastically is just not possible and I dont want that. So the ears gonna be the only and biggest change since they seem to be the biggest flagship feature of JunkYardRabbits closed species. Anthro anatomy and thick hands are not claimable. Also, she stays a hybrid between a Dragon and an Orca. Hence an OrcadragonI understand if people may not like it but again I need to think of my future and I just dont want my OC to be part of a quite dead closed species. Hope you all understand. Maybe one day I share the concept work I got for my Orcadragon species. But for the moment showing the rough sketches of her new ears is enough.

Definitely understandable hun, honestly I never got the concept of a closed species. Her ears look so lovely🥺🥺

I still have mine, I get it actually. It was a fun concept at first, but over the years and drama it's best for us to move forward. I still keep in touch with Junky, but the species is dead for a lot of us. Smart move to move ahead, always think of yourself first.

Closed Species are amazing if the owner does pure their heart into it and keeps them alive. I was part of 1 big closed species and they had regular events and quests you could do. You could get rewards and being part of a little community was just amazing. It was like a game. ;; But that's sadly not the case for the OrcaDragons

Idk about the drama that the Closed species had but I just need to move on finally. Im sad that the species has been so dead for years, they only sell adopts and there are no evens going on or other things that keep it together.

while I'm still enjoying the smol community of orcadragons and I'm gonna miss her being part of that closed species, since she's played a massive role in it too, I think your decision is totally valid since she's your OC and if you feel like that's what you want, then that's it. I don't think you're crossing much of a line here with that change either, since you've even paid for her back then as an 'offical' CS orcadragon. so you're not actually creating a 'ripoff' or anything like that I'd say. I'm very curious and happy to see what else you've got planned for her!! she stays Penelope after all :3

Yeah, I feel like a lot of people got into the Species because Penelope got so popular. Nothing I care for tbh, Im just happy people like my OC XD But it is time to move on

Every word is deserved, you've put so much work through the years. Improved upon so so much ever since the early days. I am a bit of a dummy in terms of how what you're striving towards works, but all the power to you hun. oh one thing i'm curious about tho, will that change anything regarding other orcadragons? like would you rather prefer to not draw any at all? i mean, you're changing your OC for your liking, that doesn't mean it has anything to do with not liking other orcadragon OCs anymore, tho i thought i'd just ask! also, would you mind others following your idea after you've decided to go through with her new design/traits?

I still keep drawing other Peoples Orcadragon, I have no hard feelings against the ClosedSpecies so nothing will change there, except me moving on to my Future and branding C: I dont mind people can do whatever they want. I already have concept work for my own Orcadragon species, if I ever release them and people wanna use it to make their own. They are free to do so.

It took me so long to get ahold of junkyardrabbit to get the ability to create an orcadragon, and finding someone to design closed species can be so difficult. I support your decision to take Penelope out of the closed species. I’m sad to find the community so dead Q-Q

I just know she got a history of replying pretty damn late. Like no front on her but that's just what I heard from a lot of people. Which is super sad because people are still interested in the species.

I understand some people can be busy and most likely gets tons of DMs a day, but when I was dealing with JYR, it took days, a week, or even longer for her to respond. I don't like pestering folks but, I paid a lot of money to get a custom Orca for a friend. Hell, poor Jizue, JYR's primary Orca artist, has been trying since the beginning of March to have her post up the adopts he made cause he needs the money. He said he can't post them without her posting first so he has been just sitting on them. I love the species but, man... Wish JYR was easier to get ahold of. Penelope is still super cute. Flopy eared or not. Can't wait to see the change finalized!

Idk if she is busy or just doesn't pay attention. I dont wanna sound mean but I see her posts on Twitter and Instagram regularly and it feels like taking 10 minutes out of your day to approve some adopts isn't much to ask for. I heard a lot over the years that she doesn't reply and it can take weeks or months to get an answer. If the species was managed better I would not need to take Penelope out and do my own thing ;;

That's completely fair. It feels like you and Teranen, more so you, are kind of hard carrying the species. I'm just glad to finally get mine from an adopt that I randomly stumbled on one day on JYRs Deviantart page when talking to a friend about wanting one years ago. Looking at JYR's Twitter though, she is doing a lot. Vtubing, tatoo artist, drawing in free time, and possibly other stuff we don't know of but I agree. It's not hard to check DMs and read like a sentence to see if its worth the time to respond or not.

I dont mind her shifting interests it's fine it's natural. But still, if you know the species is still popular enough to be bought as adopts and myo. It's not that hard to check at least once a week or let someone else handle the approval.

I am not at all aware of what the situation is with Closed Species or orcadragons, but I support your decision. She is your character and you are free to do as you like in my opinion. Penelope is also an amazing character, so I would love to see more art of her in the future.
