so so so stoked on the second episode of. up beat eats. This one went a. lot smoother in ht filming and recording as the first one, and I already got the third episode planned out once I get back from tour and move into my new house (with a new kitchen!) So be on the look out

Skatune Network is growing into a channel of a lot of things. I'm never stopping putting out covers, i plan on doing at the very least one ska cover a week, but I've always had dreams and aspirations of running a youtube channel dating back to 7th grade, and it's so cool having one now!

A lot of people have asked me how i go about writing, recording, and arranging covers, so alongside Up Beat Eats, im starting a songwriting and ska/punk music theory series where I use my music theory knowledge to breakdown why ska and punk songs sound the way they do, and hopefully I can break them down in ways to help aspiring songwriters starting their first bands!

Anyway, thank you all for supporting me here on Patreon, the backbone to this channel and why I am able to expand out and produce way more content. This is a channel, a whole network, and it's going to keep growing, POWERED by PATREON!

Up Beat Eats! Episode 2 - Vegan Chili - SKA VEGAN COOKING SHOW

Welcome to Up Beat Eats! Here's the written out recipe for the vegan chili! Ingredients: Medium-sized onion, about 2 - 3 sticks of celery, pepper mushrooms (I prefer shiitake). Garlic cloves (i really like garlic, so i added in like, 5 cloves lmao) The produce can differ honestly to whatever you like. Love onions? use a fat-ass onion. Hate onions? Dont use an onion! Chili is very versatile in nature. 2 8 oz cans of tomatoes, 2 cans of bush's chili beans (you can really just use regular kidney beans, the chili seasoning is just good and it's not too much more expensive), tomato sauce (one 8 oz can, 2 if you like your chili soupier TVP, or any ground beef-like protein! I mention Gardein ground beef in this video, and they're in walmart as well as almost any grocery story that sells gardein. Beyond meat ground beef is also great, you get less in the bag, but one bag of either should be enough for a single serving of chili! Nutritional Yeast Chili spices! I like to think of spices as the vital source of flavor, then other spices just to bring out flavors and add contrast. So My main spices I used are Smoked Paprika, cumin, tumeric, garlic, and chipotle seasoning. I also used white pepper, ginger, a pinch of cloves (cloves are very strong if you've never cooked with them dont overload that!) and of course a little pink salt (salt is an activator that brings out flavors, but dont make your food overly salty!) and my roommate added a little dark chocolate, which again, brought out the flavors! STEPS: 1. Dice up all of your veggies before you start cooking. 2. Get a large cooking pan, heat up oil over a medium heat, 3. start cooking your onions. 4.as those begin to brown, throw in your celery. 5. Once those look nice and good, throw in your minced garlic! 6. add in your peppers, 7.and then your mushrooms. (IF YOU ARE USING GARDEIN GROUND BEEF, i would advise throwing it in around this time and letting it cook with your mushrooms. You CAN throw it in when I throw in the TVP, but i like my ground beef a little more crisp, but regardless, it'll cook fine! you can't undercook vegan meat) 8. Once the mushrooms start to look a little cooked, throw in your canned tomatoes and tomato sauce. 9. if you're using TVP, throw some of that in. Just eyeball it, i don't really use measurements. it'll expand so i would throw in about half of how much you think you should have. 10. once the TVP starts expanding and soaking up them tomato juices, i would throw in the beans, juice and all. 11. Mix everything all together, the chili will start looking like actual chili at this point! Throw in your spices at this point, spice to what you like. You're not obligated to use my spice mix. If you're real lazy, you can even just buy a chili spice pack, I used to use those but one day i forgot one and just spiced it myself and it came out way way better haha. TIP: If you don't know how to spice, check the ingredients on a pre-made chili spice mix. typicaly the first listed ingredients are what's most found in the mix, so you know what to add more of! At this point, the chili is basically done, let simmer on a low heat for about 10 - 15 minutes. Chili is one of those dishes that taste better the longer you let it sit. Before letting sit, add the dark chocolate if you're about it. Mix it in and let it melt as it simmers for however long. AND THATS IT! Vegan Chili! Hope ya'll enjoy this one! Enjoy it however you like, i threw mine over some store bought tater tots and topped it off with aldi brand vegan cheese, and it was prime!!
